  • I am busy restoring a Kohler K301 and the previous owner was really damn smart, and he welded the pulley to the crankshaft. Why someone would do that is beyond me, there's always a better way to do it rather than welding.
I hope this video helps someone in a similar situation. The die grinder and a tungsten bit did a great job of removing the welding, allowing me to remove the welded pulley.
Stay tuned for the rest of the restoration, I am busy working hard on the engine and the video for you guys, as always thank you for your time, and stay safe!

Why would anybody consider deliberately ruining a machine that way without immediately rejecting it?

*What a beast of a machine. Looks perfect for the job. I'm sure you will get a lot of use out of that one. After all these years I have never thought to use an impact drill to wind the puller up 👍*

Nifty tool. I hear a bit of bearing rattle/chatter or brush chatter.

Ardendorffs must love you 😂 You wouldn't need to send stuff to engineering shop if you got one of those MAC AFRIC HQ500's they sell, with the lathe and mill in one.

Welding on machined shafts send chills down my spine. At least you managed to get the pulley off.

That’s a nice tool and that carbide bit is awesome! Great job of fixing someone else’s bad idea!
