Reminds me of a video where the guy was singing an ancient Sumerian song. The vocal technique is so similar.
This song sits with me differently than most other tool tracks, all because i had THE perfect first listen to this. It was around 12 AM - 1 AM, and it was me and my two best friends (only one was with me at the point of listening to this) and we were out in my backyard on the deck. My friend says "Yo brotha listen to these two tracks from Tool. They're amazing." And so i did. But we decided to lay flat on our backs and stargaze as this was playing. That was an experience and a HALF. I also happened to be high as HELL too so the fact i remember it this clearly obviously shows how well this stuck with me. I get a little soft feeling every time i hear this song, and just flashing images in my mind from that night.

In May of 2001 I was stationed at Fort Bliss in El Paso, TX. It was a strange time in my life, and while west Texas had a rugged, desert beauty, my heart was back in NYC. I was excited for the new Tool album but had lost track of the exact release date.
Late one night I was driving along Cliff Drive, which circles the end of the Franklin Mountains where they rise above the desert floor and divide the city. El Paso's local rock station had a special where they would play a new, notable release in it's entirety after hours, and as I drove in the dark that night they played Lateralus.
I turned the radio on just as this song was beginning, and I found myself kind of stunned by that familiar voice in this unexpected...ballad? The stars wheeled overhead and I turned the volume way up on this quiet song - almost like a hymn - totally unprepared for the moments, and the music, and the life, that would follow.

This album is vocally, rhythmically, melodically, harmonically, lyrically, spiritually inspired by the Master of masterpieces. The undeniable picture painted a few years later in the song "Right in Two" really breaathes out of the wild spiritual beauty of lateralis as a whole, utterly brilliant.

This and Parabola are the songs that I would play after mourning for someone close and important to me who died. It reminds me that we are eternal, and that all this pain is an illusion. I know this song is meant to be about something completely different entirely, but it gives me funeral vibes everytime I listen to it.

The first Tool Album I bought. I brought it in for show and tell. I was 12, I caught my music teacher listening to it when I came to pick it up at the end o the day. I was a cool kid, I also introduced her to SOAD. This was 2001.
This is my absolute favorite TOOL song by far! The steady build up, amazing drums, vocals and lyrics meaningful. Just an absolute masterpiece!!!

Trust and believe I've got the physical copy of Fear Innoculum. Every time I listen to it, it somehow gets better and better. Absolute masterpiece from every aspect. From the album art and theme, to the musicality. I just hope that I get to experience Tool live before its too late.

Happy 20th birthday to my favorite album of all time. Not everyone can say they were on acid the first time they heard it but a friend of mine and I got ahold of it the night before its official release and each of us took three hits and had the greatest night of our lives.
I was tripping balls I got the CD popes it in and put on the over ear headphones and from the first note to the secret track was all one beautiful journey. I still haven't came down and there is nothing that can take me there again

I was watching the partial eclipse that happened recently and just listening to tool on shuffle because I was like "what's a good band to listen to when you're high as shit watching an eclipse?" Parabol ended and parabola came on the exact moment totality hit. I didnt plan it like that, hhhhhhhhh
My older brother (16) and I (14) dropped acid at our childhood home the night before moving out and he played this song. We sat in my dark, empty bedroom with a single lava lamp as our lighting and smoked 4 year old weed we found in our parents cabinet. 8 years later at 22 its still the most special psychedelic experience ive ever had.
