Olive Tree....yeah, it is technically in South Charleston but Diehl's is in Nitro. Anyway, they have the best Greek Salad and their sandwiches are great. They also have more upscale entrées like Mahi-mahi and lamb.

Good to know. I can't get past the greek favorites. Also, fun fact... anything in the 253XX zip code is considered Charleston or the greater Charleston area.

Ellen's Ice Cream has great fresh options for lunch. How could you not include Tudor's Biscuits? We moved to Portland, OR which is a foodie town and in ten years we have yet to find Asian food as good as Main Kwong.

Well, Tudor's is a special friend and the #1 entry in my 100 Things to Do in West Virginia Before You Die, so it may not be mentioned here, but in literally every other aspect of my life. LOL Did you see where they just won Best Biscuit Sandwich in the South from Garden & Gun Magazine? I'm over the moon excited for them. I live outside Vegas, and would love to have a Tudor's here. ;) I, too, was a Main Kwong lunch orderer when I worked in Charleston.

Nobody eats at Sitar and how did you not include Dem 2 Brothers or Karubee's ???? They get way more business than half the places on this list.

Hmmm, I'm not familiar with Karubee's, but seeing that I've been to Jamaica several times, the menu doesn't entice me. I have been to Dem 2 Brothers, loved it, and included them in my "100 Things to Do in WV Before You Die", which is a little greater accolade than this blog post; however, I will add them to it because I am a huge fan. ;) Thanks for commenting.

@@Whereverimayroamblog I hear you as I'm Jamaican myself but this is WV we're talking about. You may have been to Jamaica but I'd bet 95% of Kanawha County hasn't. There's numerous dishes he can't serve because that demographic isn't going to buy it therefore it isn't profitable to make. He can't even serve the world famous ackee and saltfish because it's not for Charleston unfortunately. He does great tho and the food is delicious.
