EASY Automatic Cow Farm for Minecraft
Вставка
- Опубліковано 15 вер 2019
- In this video I show you how to make an Automatic Cow Farm for Minecraft. With this small farm, you can easily feed all of the cows, with the babies held in their own chamber. From that chamber you have the choice of using a Looting Sword if all of the cows have turned into adults, or use an automatic lava blade which will kill Only the adults. There is also a built in timer to let you know exactly when your cows are ready to breed again.

Amazing video. Just a question, could it be possible to cook the cow beef automatically once an observer detects that a cow grows up?
Observers detect changes in block states, as far as I know can't detect an animal becoming an adult. you can't add a tripwire or anything like that which could detect the change in size, because the wire would be in the same block the lava is dispensed into (which would destroy the string). In theory you could make a larger version that would rely on the cow 'cliping' slightly through a block (and could add a pressure plate to detect it), but you would have to be careful drops would not end up on that block and despawn.
After saying all that... if you really were not interested in the looting option, and for whatever reason wanted to make sure the adults died as soon as they became adults (which, as a separate issue, the adults shouldn't really cause any issues in your world given the vine enough to really worry about killing them off instantly... but sometimes minecraft is about 'can' [not only 'should'])... you could set it up to pulse the lava on a clock. that is, you could use a simple redstone ore clock to pulse the lava every minute or so, which would kill any cow that became adults within that minute.
@@EagleEye621 The wiki says it takes exactly 20 minutes for mobs to grow up; if that’s actually consistent a timer should be possible.
It used to work great, then I drowned all the upper cows in a tragic water-bucket accident, and after restocking them it didn’t work as well. Which is really weird since nothing about the build changed.
Nice
:)
Hey, wanted to know if there is a tutorial for the larger cow farm....
yes, the sheep one is the same hitbox of the cow for purposes of these farms.
So I made this but I keep killing cows when I breed them. Is there an optimal stack in there so that they breed a max amount of steaks without dying (suffocating)?
you can have 24 mobs in one square before they die from cramming. So, 16 cows will produce 8 babies.
@@EagleEye621 Thanks fam, keep up the great work
Mind helping me out? I built mine out of stone bricks and when the baby cows on the bottom grow up, they end up suffocating so I can't get the cooked steaks.
sometimes when they grow they can glitch into the block. you either need to change to a non-solid block (like glass) or make it wider.
i love this vid❤️❤️
glad you like it :)
some of my baby cows are stuck on the trapdoors on the wider farm, is there a way i can fix it?
you can lure them off with some wheat, or just leave them there and they become part of your breeding stock for next time. If you end up with to many up there it really doesn't matter either as they will entity cram and die, and drop the steak into the hopper (won't be cooked, but you still get the drop).
@@EagleEye621 Often the uncooked steak *also* ends up on the trapdoor, and I’m not having good luck luring the calves down. Next I’ll try moving the ladder I use to access the top to the front of the farm, so I can pass right in front of them while holding wheat.
**UPDATE**: This kinda helped, but not much. If I weren’t so scared that one wrong move would cause ~20 cows to explode out of the farm, I would try some other modifications to try to get the calves pushed out of the way.
@@danielrhouck that is strange as in my testing it was pretty rare to have that happen.
@@EagleEye621 I got it. By offsetting the top two rows, so that the adult cows are not right above the drop shaft, and putting another piece of glass at the top right above the cows, the water can wash the babies to above the trap door and down while the adults are still trapped. I think I’m not losing any now, but it hasn’t been running long enough to be sure.
Only 5-10 cows escaped in the course of conversion.
@@danielrhouck interesting trade off between a bit of loss of meat vs a bit of loss of cows :)
Anyone have any issue with the baby cows not falling into the kill area? Trap doors open, every time I breed the top group of cows the babies stay in the top section.
all of the babies stay up top? are you playing vanilla? Not sure what mods change the hit box size, but press F3+B to see if they look correct.
@@EagleEye621 Yeah definitely vanilla Minecraft.
Here is a time stamp of the build if you don't mind taking a look. I removed the timer and the lava dispenser but don't feel that should change the basic mechanics.
ua-cam.com/video/v4APMXM0ecY/v-deo.html
@@4evaAussie96 I've got the same issue, but for me like 10% fall through and 90% stay.
@@fiskmas943 yeah I think I might be the same after a few test feeds. Very weird
When do I turn the lava on? once the baby cows on the bottom grow up to be adults or what?
the lava won't kill the babies (which is good as they won't drop anything), so turn it on when you have some adults in there.
The farm doesn't really work for me, some the baby cows get stuck on the top section killing one of the cows.
edit: i love your content!
is the vine 100% necessary or will ladders also work?
it is not 100% necessary if you are not going to have more than 24 cows in that holding chamber at any one time (it will slightly reduce the lag, but not a lot of lag either way). You can use a ladder but the babies might get stuck on that. put it on the same side of the trap door to reduce that chance.
@Marcelo agachate y conocelo I only have/play java
It no longer works :) Big cows fall through the trapdoors
What about the expanded version on your left?
what about it? If you want to build that version you just stretch out the one I build. That is three a dispenser on either side of the ones places now, and stretch the walls out to accommodate them. Happy ti give some more details if you need.
@@EagleEye621 great farm! I love using it, I'd really like to upgrade to the 3 wide version but I'm not great at redstone and I can't seem to figure out how to work the dispensers once I stretch it - any help would be awesome!
@@semperfibabe check out the sheep farm (no wool) and you can use that for cows.
@@EagleEye621 awesome thanks for the reply!
Why does the grown cows stay up top without falling through the trapdoor?
the hit box of the adult cow is larger than the baby... large enough that just adding that 'sliver' means it can't fall down no matter where in the square it stands. the baby, however, has a much smaller hit box, so that 'sliver' is not enough to prevent it from falling down.
@@EagleEye621 that's cool. Good farm and good video.
@@SornDP glad you like it :)
Ay man it’s me again, can you swap the vine for a sign instead?
no. the vine negates entity cramming, and the sign would not have that same affect. If the version you are playing on doesn't let you put vines on glass, you can swap that glass block for a stone block (or other solid block). If you haven't found a vine, you could use a ladder, which has the same affect as a vine (but I don't like it as much as it has a small hit box.
Thanks dude
@@plamtree6852 happy to help.
@@EagleEye621 There was no vine at the top of the contraption, so there would only be 16 cows at the top, allowing for the 8 baby cows from breeding to spawn without exceeding the max entity cramming limit. So only 8 cows would be produced. Since the cows can be bred every 5 minutes, we can get a total of 24 cows in 20 minutes, which is the time it takes for babies to grow up and at that point, they will die from the lava. So we will only ever have a maximum of 24 cows in the killing chamber, so why does max entity cramming need to be negated?
How do you make the bigger version? Got a video for that?
I do... it is called "Minecraft Sheep (Mutton) Farm, Tiny EASY Mutton Farm"... and don't worry about the "sheep" part, the hit boxes mean both animals work for the farm.

@@ChubbZX strange... do you have any mods or plugins you are using?
@@EagleEye621 Nope
@@ChubbZX very strange ...
can i use a ladder instead of a vine
not as good, but yes ... very small hit box with a small possibility of a baby cow getting stuck on it... which is more of an aesthetic bother than anything yes. To reduce that chance, put the ladder on the same size as the closed trap door.
@@EagleEye621 ok thank you
Some of my Baby Cows we’re sitting on the trapdoor what do I do?
you can lure them off with food, or they may walk off... if not they will suffocate in the wall and still give you the drops when they grow up (will just be raw)
does this work for sheeps?
It should, Yes. Not pigs though. I put cows because most people who farm sheep are in it for the wool, not the meat, but this would work for them.
Can you build this in ps4??
I only play the Java version. Not sure if the hitboxes are the same.
Hi I’m the guy from omgcraft comment section this isn’t ever fully automatic so you should remove the auto from the title and make it matic you cannot auto breed cow even with an auto clicker because you need to move
it automatically cooks, and auto tells you when to bread... but yes, this is not 100% full auto (you could make that by having a auto wheat farm spit that into your afk hand :p )
Works in bedrock??
i think the hit box is different.
Can you help me, my baby cows won’t drop down....

When I dispense the lava it burns the vines and my steak how do I fix this
if the vine grows up one, it is not a big deal that it burns. Also, do you mean it destroys the steak (because if it does you might have done something wrong with the circuit as the lava should be a quick flash)
@@EagleEye621 yes it does burn the steak
@@rodrgz311 can you post some screenshots to the discord (or maybe a link to a short clip?
I had a problem where the cows would float and this would cause the items to burn. this was caused by me using a wooden button (15 redstone tick) instead of a stone button (10 redstone tick). once i swapped to the correct button type it worked consistently
Does it work on PS4?
I only play the java version. Can't really think of a reason this would not work, but that would only be a guess on my part.
EagleEye621 nevermind... I just realized that on PS4 you can’t place vines on glass so... does this work with ladders or something else?
@@anubis8450 change the glass block to a stone block... I use glass to help people see the builds and understand where things are in relation to other blocks... but you can use any solid full block you want there.
or, ladders also remove entity cramming.
EagleEye621 oh yeah, thanks for the advice
EagleEye621 I’ll try... maybe I’ll even make a video about it, if I have your permission
This is so cruel
they live a long(ish) and happy life before you relatively painlessly murder them... verdict... this is ok :)
Y won’t my cows breed, I’m on PS4
I only play on java, and the redstone can be different on non-java versions.
 but it's not automatic
it has an auto-cooker (if you don't want to use the looting sword option), and an automatic clock trigger to tell you when you can breed them again. As far as cows go, it is about as automatic as you can get.
@@EagleEye621 I just recently learned that you *can* actually use villagers to make a fully-automatic wheat farm (not bread farm as you usually see; the only real guide I could find talking about this is ua-cam.com/video/9ZvmYmYG3vg/v-deo.html, and I think some things have changed since then but I managed to get it working in creative and plan to try survival soon). So you could hook this up to something that, every 5 minutes, dispenses the water and gives you 16 wheat via dropper, making it as AFK as an AFK fish farm.
Clickbait title. There is no such thing as an automatic cow farm in Minecraft. It's not automatic if you have to feed the cows manually. "Automatic" means you don't have to do anything after you build it. A chicken farm can be automatic.
it is not 100% fully automatic but it is as automatic as a cow farm can be in minecraft java at this point. I thought that was pretty clear... no clickbate is intended, and titles are not easy. If you think of a 'normal' "cow farm" as a bunch of cows trapped in a hole in the ground, what would you have called this?
@@EagleEye621 Don't get me wrong, it's a pretty nice design, but the title is definitely misleading. What would be a better title? I don't know, maybe "compact cow farm"? Or "tiny cow farm"?
@ that is not really technically true either though... your "tiny" cow farm is literally a 1x1x2 hole in the ground with a fence on top... that would be tiny :/
it really isn't possible for titles to be hyper-technical... that is what the whole video is about, and if you can compress that into ~five words it probably isn't worth doing a video on... so I try to get as close as I can, while keeping it short, and hopefully not boring, while also not misleading people as to what they will be seeing when they click on the video.
@@EagleEye621 I’d call it semi-automatic because there are manual steps but it automatically does some things for you. Although I might reserve that name for if it also automatically dispensed the lava blade, which you could add on to this by having the top button to dispense the water also have a line to the lava observer.
