EASY AFK Tree Farm - Simple Minecraft Auto Tree Farm

- In this video tutorial I show you how to make an easy AFK tree farm for Minecraft. The simple auto tree farm can be constructed in just a few minutes with minimal materials, and will output about a stack of stripped logs per minute while AFK. It won't allow for long AFK sessions as this compact design does not have any auto leaf breakers and does not resupply the player with saplings, but it is a great supplement to your manual tree farm to get you a few stacks in a few minutes when you need a lot of wood in a hurry. This design is capable of making the normal (non-stripped) logs, but that requires player interaction and as such is not afk'able. This tree farm is not a replacement to the much larger and much more complex TNT based farms or double-piston-extending using contraptions, but is the perfect starter auto-tree farm and the perfect auto tree farm for players that don't like large complex machines.

It may look like you can compact the redstone a bit, but be aware that the spacing is on purpose to ensure proper timing. The goal is to grow a new tree as soon as possible after you have chopped the last log, but making sure it does not grow before that. You may have to adjust the timing slightly if you are on a laggy server (or wait until there are a few less people on your server... or not worry about a slight drop in efficiency).

Sooo I figured out how to make this full afk auto without the worry of getting saplings i.imgur.com/wg6AnPC.png simply add this with the dispenser facing up towards where you stand the repeater is normal 1 tick simple add on that wont affect anything (make sure when you start have atleast 2 saplings in offhand so it can goes into offhand and not inventory
Also if you move the stone block from 7 tall to 5 tall and replace it with a dirt block you are able to do spruce trees :)

P.S. I thought of something in regards to replacing/farming for bonemeal. I watched this video of K1 Inc.'s sugarcane to bonemeal farm and thought of connecting the hoppers of that farm into the dispenser in this farm. Placing 2 or 3 hoppers between the two farms for a little space. This way I can no longer worry about farming for bonemeal that much as it is automatically refilled as long as the bonemeal farm is running. It may be loud though since it uses the zero-tick method with pistons but when trying to AFK, you can just turn the volume down a bit or all the way to zero.

you would need a much bigger bonemeal farm to try to keep up, but in this simple design, you would have to add some leaf crushers or tnt to get a positive sapling return and get those to the player before worrying about the bonemeal.

Okay EagleEye621 I'll give you your props on this build! I've been looking at (and testing) many tree farm builds for my survival world on XBox One/Bedrock. This is the first one that worked reliably and with a acceptable bone meal to log production ratio (About 1.5 BM per wood block).
While most other tree farms mechanisms did work well in a creative world, once built in a survival world. They used ludicrous amounts of bone meal (Ex. 8 BM per wood block) and the trees after a little bit seemed to quit growing.
Yours so far has kept working, I'm going to see if it can attach it to a piston system from another tree farm that would push the tree out of the way of the next one for later harvesting.

Edit: and here is a good news it works but you will loose some bone meal because it is a little bit fast and you cant controll it like java but you can add more comparator (2 more on both sides at 4:10 ), and it will make it a little bit slower and prevent loosing bone meal.

You would be able to compact it more and recover some of the saplings from the leaves though
I would put the redstone as much as possible under the floor, then add water streams that go to the middle and add pistons on top to destroy some leaves
for sure... there are a couple of designs like that out there already. I was going for a sort of 'starter' tree farm or one for those who don't like redstone, but want to dabble a bit... it is a 'gateway' redstone build :p
Great farm! I was about to point out some details but you pretty much explained all. The fact that is only afkable for stripped logs and the lack of saplings return. I will build it for sure, probably adding some double piston extenders. You have to preserve nature.
yeah, you could certainly get more complicated if you took a half stack of hoppers to collect all of the drops that fall of to the side, some leaf crushers to get those saplings (and a system to funnel them back to the player), and even some auto repair/mending setup for really long afk sessions... but the idea here was as simple as I could get an afk tree farm to be for people who are not that comfortable with large redstone projects to be able to dip their toe into the redstone/automation world.
EagleEye621 And it totally delivers. As said, great farm. I'm fine with redsone projects so I'm looking for the best way to make it a non-tnt sustainable tree farm for regular logs. Leaves crushing would solve the sustainable part. For the regular logs I'm checking the hunger-to-drop ratio of not using an axe and simply punching wood. Which would make it 12 times slower but potentially fully afkable.
@@tldr9989 you could get that full afk with the axe if you could get xp to your player. You could set up a portal based overworld pigman farm (though that would get pretty big), or set up a dispenser to throw xp bottles at you at some interval... or you could move the whole contraption to a mob farm/spawner and let dogs kill mobs for that experience.
EagleEye621 But you would still get only stripped logs if you use an axe. That's what I'm trying to avoid.
@@tldr9989 true, only manual mode using this farm will get you the regular logs. That said, most of my wood use is crafting, which there is no difference between stripped and not stripped, so unless you need it a massive building project (that is the regular logs as a decorative block in the build) it won't matter either way.
I love this design. I want to see if I can modify it to add on an infinite bonemeal farm, and a leaf crusher to get saplings back. though that might mess with timings. if someone has beat me to this, please let me know

Hey, does the Zero-tick mechanism affect saplings growth? You could do away with the bonemeal if that's the case.

Y use a Skelly spawner when u can use a kelp farm for bone meal? ;)
@@Phoenixice69 I like the passivity of a kelp farm for bone meal, but they are painfully slow unless you go pretty big with them. Maybe a zero-tick cactus or sugar cane to composted setup :)

@@EagleEye621 possibly. Unfortunately zero ticks don't exist in bedrock like they do Java edition which is a shame. I've tried a few different variations and either the Pistons don't fire properly or the item (cactus or cane) breaks as soon as the dirt is moved. :/ I normally make my kelp farms 7 long.

you can't zero-tick trees (as far as I know). At some point I will come out with a longer AFK'able version
What if you set up a despenser/hopper that uses the comparitor output to feed the player saplings?
I’m not saying to complicate your machine with a collection system, but just to put any and all saplings you have the chest that will feed you.
If it uses the same refs tone feed, you’ll be given one per tree.
You could AFK for hours before needing to reload.
you would still have to walk around to collect the wood before it despawns... so you could add a collection system, but then you would run out of saplings... so you could put in a leaf crusher to get a positive sapling return... but now it is not a "simple" farm any more :)
this build was meant as something that people who usually shy away from redstone could 'dip their toe' in to see that redstone can be a lot of fun. At some point I will be making a longer AFK'able version of a tree farm.

You could add another redstone line leading from the redstone extension clock to a dropper positioned under you filled with saplings
sure, but at that point you would also need to upgrade the collection system if you going afk for more than the few minutes to empty your hand, and then you would need to add a leaf crushing to get a positive sapling return... and before you know it is not "simple" any more :)
I was thinking of building this but with a few hoppers around the area to pick up the extra wood and a chest with a hopper running into the dropper
Is there a way to extend the delay time ( without adding a whole bunch of comparators ), to make it so we can chop by hand? That way we could get the non stripped versions too

there is a(mostly) non-stripped version I show in the video, but not afk'able. If you want to get that extra delay to make it afk able the easiest ways is more comparators

without going super complex with tnt or leaf crusher auto-tree farms... just make sure your manual tree farm allows for a sufficient number of leafs and collect the samplings when the leafs decay.

You can not dispense items into your off hand correct becuase if you could then this could be fully auto by having a dispenser give you saplings

no, this is a bare bones basic auto tree farm. If you want something with a collection system and sapling return you are going to have to look at one of those bigger and more complex designs.
having problem, I dont get signal from solid block on first comparator. Any ideas, done everything like you did, tree grows, i chop it, but bonemeal runs out with out stopping :/

If you have a macro that right clicks once and then chops down the logs and repeat, you can get regular logs.

no. the AFK mode is stripped wood. Manual mode is mostly non-stripped.

if you mess with the timings you can punch instead of an axe, but that gets really slow and you won't collect a lot within the 5 minutes

The only downside of this farm is that you go through saplings VERY fast. I really like it anyways.
I would phrase it slightly differently, the downside is that there is a sapling deficit and no resupply. I could not come up with a way to add those while maintaining my "simple build" goal.

At the end of the day you gotta go back to chopping trees the old-fashioned way to get more saplings. But it's a great farm if youre in need of those wood types very quickly.
@@Vish-Maria yup. that was the idea. It is a good supplement to a manual tree farm and/or a good tree farm for people that don't like more complex redstone projects... but it is by no means a replacement for those much larger tnt based and double piston extending leaf crushing farms.

Add redstone for a dispenser to place the sapling. It shouldn't be too hard but you might waste some bone meal

This wont work on bedrock without some work lol biggest problem is there is no easy in game way to afk click but it's possible.
yeah, I think most of my redstone designs are java only given how the different version work. Never really sure though as only play the Java version.
@@EagleEye621 if you have an android you can purchase bedrock for it... If course depending on when you purchased Java you likely have it free on your computer anyway

you can use the stripped for decoration, or just use it as craftable wood the way you would use a normal log.

not for long, but for ~4.5 minutes you can walk away, use the facilitates, get yourself a drink... and come back to get the wood.

Instead using complex machine, (too much repeater and comparator)
Use observer on that tree logs.. and connect to piston. Underneath tree to make redstone clock using two observer...
