I thought these were both dumb looking and that they look quite inhumane too, but they are only lines of code, and man is this way more compact than building a proper sized pen. Not to mention it saves on sword/axe durability in early game before you get the right weapon enchantments. However, if you want to minimize time spent farming meat to sell to villagers for maximum profit, breeding over staggered trap doors and killing the afterwards grown animals with a looting sword is actually the most effective and efficient. Maybe both concepts can be combined somehow for an even better design...?
Id recommend a farm that holds your adults/breeders in one area, then has a 1 block high horizontal tube with water flow to another chamber that allows the babies to grow, with a block of lava above their heads so when they become adults they auto die and cook. This lowers the amount of lag, cooks the food or gives you the option to sword them for xp and cook them for more.
Fyi. I did some testing with bedrock edition. Looks like cows will try to swim in lava. I adjusted the tube to be 1.5 tall with a slab so the babies have room to be pushed out but won't get caught. The kill chamber is 2.5 tall with a button holding water in the top to suffocate the adults. You don't need water flow to push babies out, mob collision does it for you.

I saw that too. Sometimes the water makes no splashing sounds and the cows move much less. But sometimes the water acts as expected. I'm not sure what causes the difference. It still seems to work, it's just harder to feed the cows. But if you set up the hopper right and wait until you have 24 cows, you should get items in the chest.
This has been an absolutely mandatory farm in any of my worlds since I've seen you make it. Such a simple and efficient way to get leather and beef without having to manage hundreds of cows, aka lag machines.
@@KneeCo_ You can even modify it to breed horses. Just make a 3x3 holding area instead of a 1x1, punch a hole out in one of the corners, put ice on the bottom, and just start breeding.
I'm on the same version and it's working fine for me! Try moving around to different sides as you're holding right click to breed them, as they turn to follow you more will become exposed
I have a question, sorry I'm new btw. I used this method but when the cows dead nothing happend, the items not move in chest idk why, i used cobblestone for the block (i think it doesn't matter what block). So why the meat not move to chest ?
This things sucks. I just made one. For the work of feeding them and the wheat cost the return is crap. You get way more if you just breed and kill them in a pen with a looting III sword. It's a nice idea and looks convenient, but the return is ass.

For me that design broke after the 1.15.1 update. Now, as soon as I hold wheat, the cows group/arrange in such a way that they're like a single entity and I can feed only one of them, despite the water being on. Turning it off and on again doesn't help. I removed the fence post and raised the surrounding blocks by half slabs so taht the bouncing cows don't get out. Now I can feed 2 more, but still not the majority of them. :( Any ideas?
I feel you. I play on PS4 because my laptop just cannot handle the graphics. It's like living on the other side of a fence looking at all the good stuff on the other side.
@@MistressHorrors you can use optifine if you havent tried it, it works really well for reducing the lag and its practically available for every minecraft version ever
So for PS4 you can build it similar but instead of one block you need two blocks of space side by side and it works fine for me it might be a little more costly cause I add in another hopper for no loss

Im not sure I can remember the exact path off the top of my head, but go something like this: Launcher->Installations->Choose in which profile you want to expand RAM->Edit (or something along those lines)->Advanced Edit->Bottom right corner there is a line of text, somewhere in there you should find “2G” it appears only once, so it’s pretty easy to find! Simply change 2 to 4 or how many GB of RAM you want to allocate, click save and done! You can check if you did the right thing by pressing F3 in game and checking the allocated memory section in the top right. Hope I helped!

The farm works off of entity cramming, the cows should start dying after there's more than 24 by default. It's possible to change that number with the gamerule EntityCramming, maybe your world has that gamerule changed? You might also be exaggerating and haven't gotten to 24 yet. Another thing, though this is a stretch, make sure there's no vines in the hole the cows are in, vines disable entity cramming.
Get max enchantment table, with 30 levels, get 3 lapis, and put you diamond pick down, if it gives you an enchant you don't want, take a book and enchant it with that. Then try again until you get your wanted enchant
A librarian villager is the way to go for all enchantments. Just trap the villager and destroy & replace the lectern if it gives you a bad enchantment.
I was impatient and skipped to the building part and missed that it was for java...it wasn't working on my bedrock survival world (obviously) and I thought I'd try to speed it up by spawning a few cows in there (I don't play mc very seriously, so I don't mind little cheats like that here and there)...after spawning what I thought was around 20 cows, I decided it just wasn't going to work so I let them out and what had to be nearly 200 cows flooded my base. I am now starting a new world🥰

I'm playing on console and it's hard for me to breed the animals because for some reason I can feed the same animal over and over, thus I waste a lot of wheat,carrots and seeds. I don't know what to do. Back in the day when I played minecraft, you could only feed the animals that weren't already fed. Also, I can't hold LT or Right Click for mouse support to feed them continously, I have to individually feed the animals. So trying to feed animals one by one + the fact that I can feed the same animal for an infinite amount of time kinda breaks the game and the logic. I really need some help for a solution, I adressed the problem on Jira as well, no answer to this day. Do you have the same problem?

Because bodies doesn't repeal each other on bedrock. It's like they don't have substance. For example, you can push another play in java with your body, but not in bedrock
Can't you just make a large box with some water for the turtles and hopper minecarts collecting the scutes. Then all you do is feed the turtles seagrass.

This doesnt work for me. Right clicking with wheat makes hearts afew times beu then when I right click nothing happens. Ive had the farm for several days now and I keep going back to feed them wheat but the rate at which they breed is so slow becasue I can only right click afew.

Make urself one Efficient V, Fortune III, mending pick
And efficient V, silk touch, mending
And u gonna be set forever

@@nutarlzone if you stand still and dont look around when feeding wheat , ull feed the same one. once u feed multiple u need to turn off the water so they can stand and breed.

The water makes the cows bob up and down, which makes it easier to breed them!

This doesnt work for me. Right clicking with wheat makes hearts afew times beu then when I right click nothing happens. Ive had the farm for several days now and I keep going back to feed them wheat but the rate at which they breed is so slow becasue I can only right click afew.

Probably not since cows are larger than sheep and other mobs
Cows and sheep are the same size, block wise,
I mean the rule of 24, like if there is more than 24 mobs in one block the next one will die.
I dont know, I have seen it with other animals, but not monsters or enderman.
