Yes, someone else who noticed, you can hear Trujillo and someone else trying to catch up while one of the members is like "okay, lets be ready for the random offtime drumming moments" lol Again, I'm not trying to hurt anyone's feelings, for me it just kinda breaks the song I am so used to hearing. The way Battery is performed today? I don't mind it at all because he is mostly on time for the song and he actually makes it seem like the fills don't matter. But a song like Damage Inc has some fills that need to correlate with the guitars and not played like the live Battery version.
Ehhh, lars dropped some of his most badass fills ever in this performance. Kirk, james, and rob are giving me that vibe though

Hahaha, I didn't know I struck a nerve as much. I am a very big fan of Tallica and love jamming songs such as this one. I just don't like how performances like this are dismissed and the price the fan has to pay can be very outrageous. It could just be that I am used to drumming, playing the lead on guitars and love the original studio track.
EDIT: I know Lars is old (many drummers are), but his business to performer ethics are what is messing with this in my belief.
Please listen to my originals on my page if you love Metallica. Especially when there is only bass drum, snare and high hat.

James Hetfield is one of the greatest rhythm guitarists of all time. Superb technique and speed. Kirk is phenomenal and glad to see him back at his peak

I would say highly flawed. I don't want to be the guy who is fun at the party's but I have to be. I'll just say Lars mistiming right from the beginning is the start of it all. He pre-emptively started and you can hear the band still trying to keep up with his mistiming. The rest of the band sounds super awesome, its just not my Damage inc. I think their image and being the biggest metal band has people overlooking many flaws and money does talk. Imagine Slayer playing Raining Blood and the drumming is fucked up, would people really say it was flawless? I love me some Tallica but I just wish the money didn't make Lars think he can brutalize his songs and snare, high hat, bass drum his way through an entire concert.

Comparing me with a big named drummer is irrelevant to this debate. I do however play a ton of double kick for my own band for 16 years :D Including covers like Dead Embryonic Cells, Raining Blood, Battery (I would love to master and cover Dyers Eve, that is one I would love to perform someday). This channel has only been created for my solo music away from the band. The debate tho is the performance of ones original music. I didn't know people would get so butthurt at what I only imagine as truth, and truth doesn't care about feelings. I'm stating my opinion not only as a fan but as a musician in professionalism. Like mentioned, I love Metallica, but the live performances with Lars don't seem to be getting better. I have read tho that his business ethics overlap his performers standards. Quit getting so butthurt guys pls we're in a thrash metal section where I can imagine we all have tough skin.
EDIT: The reading part has only come from what I have read, I'm not saying this is the way Lars operates, but cash really is king. I am only stating my own opinion again based on what I think and this performance of Damage Inc. to me is really lacking and the fuckups (or mistiming) start right at the beginning of the song. If Lars ever gave me a chance I would fucking rip this song apart!!!
You're totally right. But if you deeply know Metallica this has been a "problem" since the beginning: Lars rushing too much, especially as I said in the early years (maybe he was nervous). You should be used to that, and by the way that's wat makes Metallica sound like Metallica. Lars is not a monster and the lack of practicing in the past years made him look as a beginner drummer but now you can tell his drumming is more consistent. Also after 35 years you can't play a song that you wrote when you were 23 years old the same way...Damage Inc. over all!
