This song is just about the heavy metal culture, especially in the eighties when this stuff was new. If you were a part of it, you lived it, it defined who you were. R.I.P Cliff Burton. He was the fiber of Metallica for the heaviness. So talented, and this album was the end of the first phase of Metallica. Everything changed after his passing (some great, and some not so great). You can see the difference in the music and writing after this album. You can feel some of Cliffs influence on And Justice For All album with that hard edge, but then it drops off for me. Like all the greats (Randy Rhoads, Stevie Ray, Dime, Jimi), if Cliff lived what would have been? Would have been fucking awesome for sure, but I will be grateful for what he gave us until his passing. Stoked to see you guys getting into all of the music. Now you know while metal heads love all kinds of music, we will be metal for life🤘🏼
Ya'll need to check out the "...And Justice for All" album. I haven't seen a lot of people review the songs off this album, besides "One", and it is a great album. Try the title track, Blackened, Harvester of Sorrow, or Shortest Straw. I went to this concert back in the day and it was awesome. Literally you could feel the music hit your body, it was crazy. Was hard of hearing for a little while afterwards LOL
Lex, I really like your take on the music at the start taking us into a battle. Metallica fan for 30 years, and hadn't realized this. You are spot on. Thank you.
I love you guys, I love that you are open to listen to music you wouldn’t normally have on you playlist. Lex is a headbanger, she just doesn’t fully realize it yet. You guys are awesome, Cheers
This is one of my favorite Metallica songs and I THOROUGHLY ENJOYED watching lex at all the parts I knew she’d freak out on! Lol you guys make such a good team.. Brad pays much more attention to the lyrics and meaning! Lex gives us the emotional connection to the vibe of the music and grooves! I love how Brad keeps a little sideways eye on her when he feels her start to get into it.. I can see he thinks it’s fun to see her get into just as much as we do lol keep it up guys!! Metallica has SOO MANY GEMS!
Takes me back to my teenage years in the 80s, everyone else was listening to Poison and Bon Jovi, me and my buddy were listening to this. Me and my buddy went and bought this cassette when it came out and sat in the car and listened to the whole thing, neither one of us said a word through the whole album, never heard anything even close to it back then and still nothing touches 80s Metallica when it comes to heavy metal.
My all-time favorite band and seeing yous react like this warms my metal heart. Love your channel 🤘. Don’t let no one tell you to tone it down Lex. Keep er moving! 🤘🤘👍🏻
Many years ago Anthrax and Public Enemy teamed up and opened the door for the 2 most unlikely groups, metal and hip hop to embrace and cross culture and see how alike we are It is my pleasure watching you two embrace metal as we embraced hip hop. 2 types of music with heavy, poignant vibes with something to say. You both rock
Try *Sepultura* , their songs _"Dead Embryonic Cells"_ , _"Territory"_ , _"Desperate Cry"_ , _"Roots Bloody Roots"_ & _"Arise"_ to start with, these ones pretty much have a similar feel to Damage Inc amongst other Metallica songs but with a Brazillian groove feel, vocals are a _little_ rough (lol) so be prepared for Max's growling voice but his brother Igor's drumming is brilliant af.
“Dyers Eve” off ….And Justice for All. If you think Damage Inc is hard wait to you hear this one. And by the way Brad, stay of Lex’s way when she’s rocking. DYERS EVE!!! Next Metallica song 😂😂😂
@Red-Rocker I agree that Dyers Eve is heavy as hell but I still love Damage Inc. my man. I'm just saying that bass part by Cliff in the middle of this song is bliss for metal heads.
@@ktgo4424 I agree and since Ride The Lightning is my fav album let's include "I'm Trapped Under Ice". Fight Fire with Fire & Trapped Under Ice, two underrated Metallica songs.
You guys always put a smile on my face watching you react to metal music. I just love Lex's energy, and love seeing how Brad is enjoying it more and more as you react to more songs. Keep up the great work!
Lex you had the same reaction with the bouncing and head banging I did about 20+ years ago when I first heard this song. Lol. Love it. One of my favorite Metallica jams to rip on the guitar!!!
I remember stealing my little sisters talking doll when the batteries ran out of my Walkman. Funniest Shit Ever!!! Watch the doll singing Metallica. Whole family still laughs about it to this day😈🤘
Dude, are they really? He’s gonna disect the shit, freak the fuck out, and she’s just gonna feel the shit, bounce, you’re gonna cause a breakup. Hahahahaha..your fault...lol
I love Metallica, have seen them in concert 4 times back in the day and wore out multiple cassettes of Kill Em All, Ride the Lightning, MOP, and AJFA, but could never stand Slayer and most other metal acts to be honest. Metallica is unlike any other metal band. I was a skateboarder into punk and hardcore and Metallica was the first metal act that appealed to me. Pantera was another metal band that came along and appealed to my punk rock sensibilities. I’m still not a big metal fan, but can appreciate the musicality and talent that goes into it. Since I was a kid, metal went batshit crazy and branched off into about a hundred different genres. Some are just mind bogglingly weird and leave me wondering how the hell there is even a fan base large enough for some of it to exist. Like some stuff I heard that had ultra fast guitar and all of the vocals were done in whispers. If that’s what you like, great, enjoy it. Play it at work or the family reunion and go crazy whipping your hair around. Whatever floats your boat. All of that being said, for whatever it’s worth, I vote no on doing any Slayer reactions.
No!! _Postmortem/Raining Blood!!_ Both songs together!! Just fucking _once_ I'd like to see _one_ fucking reaction channel get this right! They don't _need_ to be heard together, but fucklesticks on cube roots, they are _so much better together!!_ I'd suggest this video: ua-cam.com/video/Kw46oTBzKVc/v-deo.html
This song is not so much about "war" in the traditional sense. It's about the fuel, energy, and kick-ass vibe of metal music - this was "thrash metal" for its time and was essentially their statement that they could still do it better than anyone else. They pretty much started that trend and this was just showing the critics and fans, they still did better. So it was kinda cultural war to illustrate their dominance in the genre. Then their bassist died while on tour. And their sound changed a little. Their next album "...And Justice For All" (which hosts the song ONE that you did a reaction to) took on a more technical appeal, long songs with lots of transitions and change-ups, and very complicated compositions and meticulous riffs packed into one song. IMO the greatest heavy metal album ever recorded from a composition standpoint as the songs were all very technically skillful.
always loved the volume swells at the beginning of this, that lead you into the DAMAGE that follows :) LOVED Lexi's reaction from then, and there on, hahaha. Y'all are awesome, it's why i keep coming back for more. Her reaction to Kirk's EXPLOSIVE lead was epic :D
No one is ever disappointed by Metallica, especially the old albums which we lovingly refer to as "mandatory Metallica"! There's always so much depth to explore musically, lyrically, and ideologically. They defined metal since the 80s. Well now youtube is filling up with Metallica reactions. I'll keep pushing for different bands and different tunes. I'd love to see how you react to something else, and hopefully bring you something new. For lyric videos, FEAR FACTORY has a number of them that are visually stunning and fun to watch. They are one of the innovators of industrial metal for decades. Check out PROTOMECH -> ua-cam.com/video/midnSfMs5Y8/v-deo.html.
Lex I am a 45 yr old Metal head. I have listened to Heavy Metal my entire life....Watching you discover Heavy Metal with that smile and giddyness makes my heart happy. Heavy Metal is music to let that inner aggression out. Its a way to get all the bad stuff out without hurting anybody. You can see by your beaming smile that you truly enjoy it and its great watching you. That smile says it all. You look like a kid at christmas!! Keep going...keep exploring the genre there is so much that I know you will enjoy. I cant wait to see more. I suggest checking out some Iron Maiden...The Trooper or Fear of the Dark is a good starting point for Maiden. I know you will like it because Maiden has great story telling lyrics. You should be able to find Lyric videos for both songs so yall know what is being said.
To answer your question if it can get any faster, the fastest thing Metallica probably did was Battery Live at Seattle 1989. They were on something that night. They played battery faster than the studio version. Insane energy and power. Here the link if you wanna see it ua-cam.com/video/Y5hFyPNSEN8/v-deo.html

100% Facts!! That live DVD is the best ever. It captures the energy perfectly. I have seen it a million and 1 times since it came out. Still get chills and the energy to lift a house from it. One of the greatest performances of all time!
Metallica was one of the rare bands who reinvented themselves with every album, yet still no matter what route they chose to take, you knew it was Metallica. (Except St.Anger....that was garbage lol...) Going back and seeing their growth over time is unparalleled.
St. Anger saved METALLICA, they had to strip down & find themselves again, they went back to the garage, not saying it was a great or even good album but it serves it purpose & they're still here because of St. Anger
@@Krow-go3ps oh, Amen to that. But I warn anyone digging into Metallica for the first time, you really have to hear the rest of their catalog to understand how it fits.
Easily my favorite album of theirs.
Agree. It's my favorite album by them.
Justice was my first Metallica album I ever bought and is still my favorite
How did you not mention eye of the beholder or and justice for all. Best two songs on the entire album.
@@decemberflower3990 Well, I did say "the title track"... =) But yeah, Eye of the Beholder is a great one too
That amazing intro is Cliff Burton on the bass guitar.
Metallica kicks ass !!
Lex, I really like your take on the music at the start taking us into a battle. Metallica fan for 30 years, and hadn't realized this. You are spot on. Thank you.
I played guitar for 25 years . I don’t care what people say about Kirk . He brings it , that solo gives me chills
I love you guys, I love that you are open to listen to music you wouldn’t normally have on you playlist. Lex is a headbanger, she just doesn’t fully realize it yet. You guys are awesome, Cheers
I love watching Lex react. Her facial expressions are priceless. She does light up like a kid at Christmas about to open a present. I love these 2
I grew up listening to Metallica and the interpretation was a new perspective for me and I love it
I love the way you two think about the words, give us your thoughts and just enjoy kick ass metal. Keep up the good work.
If the Navy S.E.A.Ls ever needed a theme song....this would be it.
Great vid, you guys!
Ironically, right?
“Creeping Death” by Metallica is written in the perspective of the death that God sent into Egypt during the Pass-Over biblical event. Exodus 12.
Many years ago Anthrax and Public Enemy teamed up and opened the door for the 2 most unlikely groups, metal and hip hop to embrace and cross culture and see how alike we are
It is my pleasure watching you two embrace metal as we embraced hip hop.
Sepultura is good. Metallica sepultura and pantera.
@@kuplung22 Agreed. Love Pantera, they've already done Cemetery Gates & Domination live, hopefully they'll get to _"Mouth for War"_ , _"Cowboys from Hell"_ & _"Walk"_ soon :).
They did on a live stream, it was pretty cool.
Might be too much for baby ears Brad. 😂😂
Desperate Cry's riffs makes your chest hair grow chest hair.
Yes Lex, Kirk really can play that fast. Even better watching it live. Keep up the brilliant reactions. Love you guys
One of THE best Metallica songs hands down! Glad to see someone review this song and give it some love.
“Dyers Eve” off ….And Justice for All. If you think Damage Inc is hard wait to you hear this one. And by the way Brad, stay of Lex’s way when she’s rocking.
DYERS EVE!!! Next Metallica song
😂😂😂
@Red-Rocker I agree that Dyers Eve is heavy as hell but I still love Damage Inc. my man. I'm just saying that bass part by Cliff in the middle of this song is bliss for metal heads.
Dyers Eve is possibly Metallica's heaviest song imo.
Yeah, great choice, and Fight Fire with Fire is another great thrash song.
@@ktgo4424 I agree and since Ride The Lightning is my fav album let's include "I'm Trapped Under Ice". Fight Fire with Fire & Trapped Under Ice, two underrated Metallica songs.
I was going to suggest Trapped Under Ice. I'm glad other people have but yeah, Dyers is heavier and faster. Good call :)
You guys always put a smile on my face watching you react to metal music. I just love Lex's energy, and love seeing how Brad is enjoying it more and more as you react to more songs. Keep up the great work!
Watching Lex discover her inner rocker girl is one of the cutest things I've seen. Love your reactions guys.
As a Metallica fan since 1986, it feels great to see you enjoy my favorite song the same way I did. Thanks for this!
Lex, I remember feeling the same way when I heard this 35yrs ago.
Lex you had the same reaction with the bouncing and head banging I did about 20+ years ago when I first heard this song. Lol. Love it. One of my favorite Metallica jams to rip on the guitar!!!
I love their out of context perspective....Like musical archeologists, what were these ancient people thinking in their time...lol. love it
Thanks guys! Lex, it does my heart good to see you.rock out! Peace
I remember stealing my little sisters talking doll when the batteries ran out of my Walkman. Funniest Shit Ever!!! Watch the doll singing Metallica. Whole family still laughs about it to this day😈🤘
Siendo Chileno, entiendo algo de Inglés, una anécdota para reír y valorar..
Lex has really amazing intuition when it comes to interpreting metal songs
Spit out the bone is a good one by them
As a drummer it’s one of my favourite to listen to.
I think Brad would like it since it seems he's a fan of newer Metallica than the older stuff.
You two have quickly become my favorite subscription... Lex is my spirit animal
😂😭🙏🏽🙏🏽
You're ready to try SLAYER.
Maybe start with: Dead Skin Mask, Bloodline, Seasons in the Abyss, Disciple, War Ensemble..
Dude, are they really? He’s gonna disect the shit, freak the fuck out, and she’s just gonna feel the shit, bounce, you’re gonna cause a breakup. Hahahahaha..your fault...lol
I'd start with Angel of Death, people usually are pretty hooked after that 3.5 minute history lesson on the holocaust
Definately Angel of Death. It'll be the first video where Lex knocks Brad right off the fuckin' couch! ha
Agreed time for some real speed and utter chaos that is Slayer.
My first Metallica tape here, 12 ish years old. Love the way you guys just jump into a song. Wore this tape out.
Want some good lyrics? Do Suicidal tendencies "Alone ' "monopoly on sorrow" lost again" " can't stop" just to name a few
Ironhorse you forgot nobody hears, pledge your allegiance, trip at the brain & institutionalized
Ha, never forgotten could've also said feel like shit de ja vu, emotion no.13, if I dont wake up, one too many times. Way too many to list
@@MrCjv32 true
Lex's face at 1:33 is priceless. You can almost see the devil horns sprouting.
Anyone else think that Lex should really hear “Orion” by Metallica?
Lol
Finally happened lol
That is kind of the definition of greatness is it being timeless not concentrated on something small. You guys are great best of luck and all you do
If you want faster Slayer “Raining Blood” have a great weekend
I would not call 89BPM fast. Maybe for country, but not thrash. Lol
No!! _Postmortem/Raining Blood!!_ Both songs together!! Just fucking _once_ I'd like to see _one_ fucking reaction channel get this right! They don't _need_ to be heard together, but fucklesticks on cube roots, they are _so much better together!!_
I'd suggest this video: ua-cam.com/video/Kw46oTBzKVc/v-deo.html
You guys are like my favourite people on YT.. so genuine :)
Check out PROTOMECH -> ua-cam.com/video/midnSfMs5Y8/v-deo.html.
this brings me joy. Straight up joy watching her.
The vocals are fast! The riffs are fast! Imagine performing both at the same time! James Hetfield does not get the credit he deserves.
Absolutely. He definitely doesn't get the credit he deserves with his guitar playing abilities as well.
What are y'all talking about? James gets most of the credit and everyone who knows James knows how skilled he is.
Here the link if you wanna see it ua-cam.com/video/Y5hFyPNSEN8/v-deo.html
and to top it off, it was the finishing song of the concert...
@@stevewilton8215 But after Battery they played a little of The Frayed Ends of Sanity, then they played Last Caress and Am I Evil?, And one of the best Whiplash performances and Breadfan. Just then it was all done.
@@ben1ben true but Seattle was not the fastest. Any Metallica live during 1987 was insane dude...
@@yattmanntatt3360 give me a specific performance from 1987 that is faster than battery at seattle
@@ben1ben ua-cam.com/video/gVPaJqEyfGc/v-deo.html
This one...Milan 1987. This is not a video, Just a random dude who recorded this. Better listen with ear phone. Battery,Damage Inc and Fight fire with fire was too fast... u also can check the channel and mostly 1987 live by Metallica was insane. Hope u like it mate✊
Hey...you both are thoughtful and enthused. Also, gotta be the only "Double Dutch" ("waiting to jump in") reference in the history of Metallica Reactions. Nice....
If you want to react to a more recent Metallica song, try Broken, Beat and Scarred or Spit Out the Bone.
Nice choices! And the 1st is underrated.
Broken, Beat & Scarred is my favorite song .. great choice
Nice! That's an underrated one.
Liked and subscribed! The genuine joy Lex shows learning what this band is all about takes me back to how I felt when I discovered them. Love seeing someone experience just how "lit" this band is. Glad to see you two get to experience the art and depth of metal music, breaking free from ignorant stereotypes. I like how intellectual you guys are when analyzing the expression of the music and lyrics. Go deeper into System of a Down, Slipnot and Pantera as well. Pantera is great at creating music that further expresses the lyrical content. Thanks, will experience this journey with you!
This is real Metallica, back then the mainstream didn't know who the hell they were.
Your guys’ takes on Metallica’s songs are really cool as I’ve never thought about most of them the same way you guys see them
The Damage Inc. being the “business of war” I really like that
Metallica Battery
Yes, but live Seattle 89, it will SEND Lex insane!!!! In the BEST way possible 😁😁😁😁😁
Lex is a breath of fresh air...true joy and also knowing old Brad hating every RIFF of metal music...LEX YOU KEEP ROCKIN'...
This is THRASH baby!!!!! YES THEY PLAY THIS FAST!! This is ALL THEM!! Next Master of Puppets live in Seattle 1989. "IF YOU WANT TO SEE A CONCERT!!!!" Lex will definitely love it! You feel the energy from it! It is a must for the feel of the energy!!!!! "Battery" is another from that concert as well I think you'll love!!!!
100% Facts!! That live DVD is the best ever. It captures the energy perfectly. I have seen it a million and 1 times since it came out. Still get chills and the energy to lift a house from it. One of the greatest performances of all time!
Lex has awesome reactions, so fun to watch!
Without knowing how they got there, that album can hit your eardrums like a loaded diaper. It can be appreciated, but it's not a "viber".
@@dennishollibaugh8247 exactly! 🤘
Actually most of the songs on St. Anger are pretty good, the fucked up mastering killed the album ...
@@PlanetBerlin1991 all I know is, by the end of that thing I just want to put a kettle over Lars head and beat on it with a skillet just to ask him how he liked it. 😂😂
I'll tell you this...old school thrash really knew how to close out an album....this song, "Polaris..." by Megadeth, "Raining Blood" and "Seasons in the Abyss" by Slayer...as often as the whole being golden, you were always guaranteed that the opening and closing tracks were solid! Btdubs....Lex is sooooooo cool! I mean her energy and enthusiasm for this brand of music is totally refreshing!
More THRASH! Get around to some Anthrax, amongst the others suggested here.
Man! The joy Lex is getting out of this music takes me all the way back! Enjoy the ride!
Metallica are awesome but there's only one Sabbath, mate.
Agreed
I hate to disagree, but there's definitely 2 Sabbath's, Ozzy and Dio.
@@thebikewatcher9819
OK, you got me there :)
I really dig the way Lex claws her way into the meaning behind the song. Finding out what makes it tick for you makes listening to music that much more amazing.
Great reaction friends. This album is amazing saw them 3x on this album was so intense.
Watching Lex feel the music and just get it is so great to watch. Renews my appreciation for bands and music again.
My favorite Metallica song ever! The best! Nice reaction.
You guys are so Awesome ! I love watching you two really dive in and take it all in !
I love it. “Tell me something i don’t know, take somewhere I haven’t gone before, bring me something I don’t have” right before kirk’s solo. The timing couldn’t have been better!
7:51 - "You know like before you jump into Double Dutch". You made my day as I'm now lmao with that comment Brad.
I went into The U.S. Army soon after this album came out. This is the best war music ever. I drove a 72 ton tank with this blasting and just killed every thing in the way!
I was 17 when this album came out. Yes I'm old. In high school before our football games me and 3 of my teammates would listen to this song. Talk about getting amped. Thanks for sharing this. Lex you are awesome. Brad hold on to her. Sorry just started watching reaction videos.
