I had a girl do that to me, and when I said the correct number of fingers she held up she told me, "Oh your vision isn't that bad then!". Because that's totally what they do at the optician
Ameah Callender I'm legally blind and it is so annoying bc when someone finds out or remembers they take my glasses and start doing that and I get put in a very uncomfortable position bc I can see their hand but nothing else and it's kinda scary when suddenly you can't see very well bc they took the only thing that helps you see.
Years ago my younger sister had a very good friend who was born blind.. she had 100% sight loss, she could just about tell if someone shone a light in her face but she couldn't see shapes, shadows, colours etc.. She went to a boarding school from an early age and was totally independent. She used to come to our house for sleepovers and loved movies. We would watch the same one over and over and for the first time we ran the movie me and my sister would describe what was happening. She would always used terms like "I've seen that one" or "Can we watch a film?" She'd never say.. "I've heard that one.." I've also had a couple of blind friends that have enough vision to get around fine in their own homes...
Lyca31 Could you get audio description on films? Y'know where a voice says what's going on a few seconds before it does, like "a man in a red shirt enters the room."
t. People are Stupid. A lot of people are like, “I wish I could stare off all day and get away with it!” I’m just like so you want not understand reality have unclear thoughts?
I never actually saw any of my family members faces it is sad and I sometimes cry because my eye doctors told me that there is no cure for my eye condition sometimes I cry thinking about it and I wish I knew what it was like to be able to see I have retinopathy of prematurity stage five and apparently there is no cure for that I can’t see lights shadows colors nothing
Blushem i’m not saying we aren’t capable of doing anything but I think that a lot of the blind community is really focused on how we’re strong and independent that we forget that there’s people like me in the world who agrees but at the same time doesn’t feel the same way sometimes Molly Burke is a prime example of that she spoke about a very horrible accident where she could’ve lost her life again we are way too focused on seeing ourselves as strong and independent that we tend to forget that in a lot of situations we can become the most vulnerable please don’t hate me I’m just saying that this is what a lot of people seem to forget because we think we can do it all but unfortunately that’s not the case all the time
The best repartee ever ! It reminds me when I tell my age and people say "How could you be so small ?Did you have a problem?" and I think (I never dared to actually say it unfortunately) "How could you be so dumb ? Did you have a problem ?".
I once worked in a factory predominantly employed with blind people. As a male with a dozen piercings in my head, I'm usually judged as a scary ruffian before I've ever spoken, but for once in my life I was judged solely on the way I treated people, instead of how I look, and that was something special that I've never experienced anywhere else.
i think what people mean by "you don't look blind" is that you don't behave like you can't see. you move your eyes, your head, use gestures and all that, blind people in movies usually stand still.
it really bugs me how blind people are portrayed in movies. Please, for the sake of every blind or visually impaired person I know or don't know Please don't believe anything they say about blind people in movies. It's insulting.
Sophiesticated but that's still a false comment. They're not "acting" blind, it's what they are. So however they live or act, that's how a blind person acts.
Hannah Rose there's a wonderful documentary about a doctor who went to North Korea to do surgery on the people there with severe cataracts that render them completely blind and though their reactions we strangely connected to their leader you could tell how elated they were to see their mother or father or their child or granddaughter, I'm sure it's very scary at first but I'm sure it's also a wonderful feeling to see the beautiful colors of the world!
i seen a documentary on PBS when they cured this guy from blindness only to screw him over. He freaked out about how things work. For eg he was riding in a car and got scared when they were passing a sign and he thought that it was gonna hit them. Gosh that show was interesting.
I was just thinking of this it's amazing bc if a blind person falls in love with you it must mean either you have an amazing personality or they really love you for your personality and you can always be sure of that ♡
Actually you are right, but there's still the voice ... I once had a crush on a singer (I'm blind since my birth) and I knew nothing about his personality :D But yes, apart from the voice, the personality is the most important thing.
@@elyska_singer I'm not trying to be rude in anyway but im really curious as to how you can type? Can you see some things but not others or are you not completely blind? Do you have a device to help you or a friend? Im generally just curious?
I can't walk properly, and the other day I became tearful when I saw a beautiful field and hill local to me, because I knew I wouldn't be able to walk across and climb up them. Then I realised how lucky I was to be able to at least see them, and it made me feel better. My question is, is that in any way patronising or insulting to blind people? I genuinely want to know, because I hadn't considered it before now.
NotMostGirls I personally feel like it depends on the person and if they decide to be offended about it. My fiance is blind and we have had this conversation, he says it's similar to someone saying "at least I can walk" or "at least I can hear." you choose if you are offended or if it's derogatory. That's just our outlook on it, I dunno about anyone else but I think it's alright if you mean well and don't mean to be derogatory to anyone. In this sort of context, anyway.
NotMostGirls I don't find it insulting. Sometimes I've very happy I can't see things. Especially people. Like when I'm mad at my partner and in an argument I feel vulnerable and am glad I can't see him because then I don't register how he sees me.
Hatter 9514 Thank you for replying. I understand what you mean. I hadn't considered the 'at least I can walk' angle until now as I only became disabled relatively recently, but it's made me think. I wonder what my reaction to that specifically will be when I hear it now as a wheelchair user. I suppose it's all about perspective and personal experience.
OrgaOrgaOrga Thank you for sharing your experiences. I get what you're saying. I have actually remarked before that society would be kinder without the gift of vision; so many people use it to prejudge. I myself would not be treated differently or badly by those with sight loss based upon my own physical issues. No one could judge me on my body if they couldn't see it. It's something I think about quite often. My partner is partially sighted in one eye and sometimes I wish I could give him the vision from one of mine as I am housebound and waste my eyesight sitting in one room all day every day.
For the comment "So you CAN see" automatically reminds me of one of my Tae Kwan Do instructors. She is legally blind, but does that automatically mean she can't see crap? Of course not! She's at the highest level of black belt and she watches us to see if we aren't doing our kicks properly or not punching hard enough. She can still see, but her vision is bad enough where it can be a little difficult and she can't drive (stuff like that). But seriously, if someone is legally blind, that does not mean they can't see anything! I mean, sure, there are people that can see literally nothing, but that is not always the case!
No problem! I will admit, I do not understand how annoying it must be to get that little comment, but I know that Blind doesn't always mean "I can't see crap at all"
My friend was totally like this!! Good on her and him for just getting on with life, generally speaking some people just plain stupid 😒 he could not drive but managed (by working super hard at) getting several black belts! I don't have any but also have NOT worked super hard like him to get one so not looking for "eighth place trophy" lol
Big Bubba no wonder I haven’t found anyone like me I am actually completely blind even though some blind people say I wish I could see normally I just say I wish I could see just a little bit people say it’s sad to live like this it can be sometimes I start thinking too much into it because I can’t even see light and I sometimes wonder what it would be like to at least be able to see a tiny bit sometimes I cry knowing that there is no cure for my eye condition is at a stage five which apparently has no cure if you’re wondering what my eye condition is it’s retinopathy of prematurity
Legally blind person here. We are more than capable of using computers and phones. Just because you see some of us "looking" at things it doesn't mean we see what you see. Some of us are capable of seeing shadows or blurs of color and some of us with hearing hear quite well. So when we look in the direction of a person or object doesn't mean we are lying about not being able to see. Should we just keep our heads still and eyes closed? I turn my head when I hear something move or to speak in the direction of the person talking to me. Seems polite to do so.
OrgaOrgaOrga thank you!! I'm legally blind as well and I heave reached a point where in the next year or so I could go completely blind and people are always thinking that I'm already completely blind.they try to direct me around places and I'm just like I can see but not very well I'm very much capable of walking myself.Im actually typing this without my glasses
Genuine question here, just curious--do some blind people have keyboards with raised letter engravings? I'm sure that might be one way for someone to type even if they couldn't see at all. Or perhaps a braille keyboard might be a better thought
Oh gods that is annoying lol. I once had an experience where someone I didn't even know literally grabbed my hand and placed it on her face and demanded I feel it. I don't feel anyone's face to begin with, but she wasn't interested in explanations.
Or when they ask to try on your glasses, and since your prescription lenses aren’t cartoonishly thick and strong and make everything zoom in, they automatically think your faking your need for glasses
One time a man can in and asked about the menu at the cafe I worked at so I told him some stuff and added “it’s all on the menu too” and he responded telling me he was blind. I had no idea
When I was about 12 I was at my mums friends little boy’s birthday party and I started talking to this woman who was blind. I knew she was blind but after about 10 minutes or so of talking to her I kind of forgot. When the little boy was opening one of his presents I thought it was really cool so I said to the woman “oh my God look at that” 🤦🏻♀️ then I remembered that she was blind. She just giggled & said that it was ok and I apologised but I was so embarrassed for ages. 😂

One of my favorite memories from childhood was going shopping with a friend who was blind and describing all of the clothes to her. It helped me better empathize with people who love shopping.
I have some form of EDS and people are always like "it seems so fun to be so flexible, you're so lucky!" Like, yeh. It can be fun. But have you forgotten that EDS causes joint dislocations?
Elizabeth Martinez Same, but they also ask why if I'm so flexible can I still not do the splits or other feats of flexibility. JUST BECAUSE MY LIGAMENTS ARE RELAXED DOESN'T MEAN ALL MY MUSCLES ARE MAGICALLY PRE-STRETCHED AND FLEXIBLE.
Im just really hyper mobile apparently My joints are just really loose and its not a medical problem Is what my therapist said after i dislocated my shoulder and wrist
my ex boyfriend's dad is blind and he was so funny, he made blind jokes all the time and allowed us to make them with him. and he would scare the shit out of people because he is ex military. He also does triathlons and hikes and he is basically a super hero. Like he does more than a person with perfect vision.
I had a blind tutor for math when I was 13, the best tutor I've had ever, not only did he teach me how Braille works, he gave me a paper with my name written in Braille. He said just because your blind doesn't stop you from doing what you want so he became a math tutor, he was an inspiration to me and he gave the the sense of "just because you have a disability like mine doesn't mean you can't do anything"
Yes, disabled people take the whole "laughter is the best medicine" thing to the ampth degree. We just take the piss cause it's better than wallowing in self pity.
gerard ward if you watched the video, the blind people literally said that they aren't offended by the vocabularly. so i think "things not to say to a deaf person" is fine. in fact, a thing not to say to a deaf person would be to change the verb say with the verb mouth when referring to deaf people

"Do you like this dress?" "Look over there!" "What's your favorite color?" "God, i think i need glasses. I can barely see!" "Would ya look at that sunset." "What do you call that thing, gee, that looks like uh.." "Don't i look cute in this picture?" "Can you take a picture of me?" "Look at the doggy!" "That boy over there is sooo cute!" "Pick a card, any card, remember your card!" "What color should i dye my hair?" "What color do _you_ think the colors of #thedress is?"
Pushback lines, used by my mom (who is partially blind, loss of total vision in one eye): "what's that blurry blobby fat thing there, oh nevermind it's you - I can see you're talking to me" "Hmm, I think it's black, isn't it? (The color is red) Yep, that's definitely black" "Don't dye your hair - you'll ruin it - you'll have to keep dyeing it, wasting money you lot!" "Oh go on then, let me have the camera - I'll take your pic, if you want my thumb in your picture! " Last one is totally true, notorious! Even nicknamed her "The Thumb" even before she lost her vision.
I am completely blind not everyone who is blind is completely blind only about 15% of the blind community is completely blind but in my case I can’t see lights shadows colors basically anything but you can have a favorite color it all depends on thinking how that color makes you feel I hope I’m making sense
Okay, 4, 6, 8, 10 and 11 are perfectly acceptable, they're just conversation. I would feel like they wouldn't want to talk to me if they didn't say these things if I was blind.
I used to play in a band with a blind boy, so I used to hang out with him often, so I feel like I can relate to these things through him, haha. Especially that one with people being afraid of the word "see". My blind friend always uses the term himself, like "I watched a movie" etc. It's just like a figure of speech. It would sound horrible to say "I heard a movie". But other people don't realize that. Once we were recording a song and the producer said something like "I want you all to sit so you can see each other" and one of our band members go "well, that's gonna be difficult". So we were like, joking about it, but the producer still acted as though he'd made the most horrible mistake in living memory. Stop apologizing. It's only good that you sometimes forget that they're blind, because it means that you treat them like everyone else.
That's like being afraid to use the word "move" in the presence of someone who can't walk. If you want to know which words to use when talking to me, just listen to what I say. I use those "Sight verbs" all the time.
I'm also blind since my birth and can agree totally on some poinqs. For example "see you later - Oh, I'm sorry!" - for me it's not necessary to avoid any vocabulary. But when it comes to questions like "are your senses hightened?" and so on, I want to say (to all the blind people here): Don't judge the sighted people for asking that! Many of them haven't talked to a blind person yet, so they can just imagine how a daily life with a disability is. In their head there sometimes appears a picture of a "typical blind person": cane, guide dog, sometimes closed eyes, hears, smells and feels ererything, is sad because of the disability, has mental issues ... and so on. BUT they only think that because they haven't met other types of blind people yet! Just have patience and be nice, I think - no one means to insult you with such a question, often people are just curious! And this is for you, sighted people: Often prejudices aren't right, so try to be openminded and also be willing to change your typical pictur of the blind. If you have any questions about blindness, you can ask them by replying to my comment, if you want. I'll try to answer them :)
In highschool one of my classmates was blind and I think we really helped her coming out of her little perfect world set up by her parents. She did not have a stick and was forced to walk from the class to the toilette touching the wall with her hands just because her parents didn't want her look blind. She didn't even know that you used teabags to make tea! I mean her parents were shaping a too much accessible world for her but with time she became much more confident. She has an MSc in Languages now and sometimes works in an art school.
The vibes between the people in this video are way better than the deaf one i loved the video but everyone just seems friendlier with each other in this one
Why even compare the vibes between Deaf and blind people in the videos? That honestly is one of my pet peeves as a Sign Language Interpreter is when people compare blind and Deaf people...why?!
i dunno, i think its because deaf people have more of their own culture, because of their unique language and so on, while theres no motivation for blind people to seek out other blind people in that same way. So they're less defensive about it, because its not so much of a community identity as deafness is. of course, everyone is probably different, but i think that might be what youre picking up on.
Isha Marie it's because in sign language you need to exaggerate the expressions a little more to the other person when you sign. Forgive me if I'm wrong
I just have bad vision. Can be fixed with glasses--if not most things are blurry over a foot away and this happens--it bothers me so I assume it does to blind people. When you are ordering food and there's no take out menu so you ask a question and the cashier just points to the menu on the wall and is like 'it's right there.'
@@hammydammy123 I read it again. The first line still says. "I have bad vision. It can be fixed with glasses." So if she does wear glasses, her bad vision is fixed. So why don't you just wear glasses?
Yeah. I'm nearsighted and in one eye I would be legally blind if glasses didn't correct the vision and I've wondered by closing my 'good' eye, with glasses off, how blind people who have some vision, do it. I would be so frustrated if I had to go around with all things blurry and having a hard time finding my way around. I feel very lucky and grateful that I just have to pull on glasses to see fine.
They are ordinary people with a great sense of humor. I guarantee you they don't consider themselves amazing because they do ordinary things like evderyone else. There's nothing wrong with them. Generally speaking, it's the rest of the world that has a problem. Do people make a big eal of it when you write a check at the checkout stand when buying something? It's all about perspective. I am a Christian, but I am thoroughly tired of people wanting to pray my eyes are healed. What's wrong with my eyes. I have beautiul eyes. People are forever telling me that. People often tell me it's amazing that I don't let my disability stop me. My disability has NEVER stopped me. The world has, when I let it.
I have a younger relative who's father is blind. The first time I met him was at a funeral of another relative. I didn't realize it at first because I was sitting a couple rows behind them when my younger relative helped his dad to the piano that was next to the open coffin. The dad sat at the piano and performed "What a Wonderful World" on it. It made me want to cry even more because not only was this at a funeral, but this man just proved he can do what some other people claim he can't do due to the fact that he's blind.
I would treat blind people with respect just like I would with a normal person because they can do things like us, they just have a harder time with seeing things
This reminds me of wearing glasses. My vision is 20/40 in one eye, 20/50 and a lazy eye in the other. I'm also farsighted. I can see perfectly fine without them and read and everything, but the moment my glasses are off. "HEY, HOW MANY FINGERS AM I HOLDING UP? OH YOU GOT IT RIGHT! CAN I TRY YOUR GLASSES ON?" "Um...I guess...don't break them..." "WOAH YOU'RE SO BLIND! WHY IS IT SO BLURRY?!" My thoughts: I don't freaking know! Other peoples glasses are blurry to me too! So why are you so stupid?
@@Shamballa432 I can't speak for the others, but I can say that with certain kinds of GAD, you still actively have it even with medicine. And some people, like me, would rather live as themselves and deal with their mental illnesses than suppress them with drugs (not that there's anything wrong with medication).
@@reharm_reality Medicine was never the way to go. It just numbs you down, only some very few people do heal via medicine. The way is emotional healing, shadow integration, inner child work. Basically a good psychologist can work with you on this.
One of my oldest friends has been visually impaired most of her life and all this stuff is so frustrating for me to witness let alone for her to experience! She is honestly one of the smartest and most beautiful people I know, she went to a special school in New Zealand to learn how to live independently. She now lives alone with her vision impaired boyfriend and guide dog and is studying business at university. Shes also a national champion in a sport called swish (blind table tennis). I remember in Primary School frequently chasing kids half way around the school screaming that they would be dead if I caught them because they would stick their hands in her face saying "how many fingers am I holding up? huh?!" and she was so hurt by people doing that. Even after the school held sensitivity training for the kids so that they could empathise with her, some still did it (little shits!). There was even a time in late high school when someone found out I was friends with a visually impaired girl and they actually asked me if that meant I knew sign language!! they automatically assumed that cause she was blind she was also deaf and I had to communicate by signing in her hand. But even after all of that crap she has a heart of gold and just laughs at the idiots. I bloody love that girl!
"I don't remember my mum's face anymore." Don't worry, kid, I don't remember my mum's face either and I can see... I just can't remember. OK, a bit of a rude joke, but memory fails for all of us on that one. My mom died in 1988 and I'd give all the days since then to see her for just an hour.
I love this series, so, as a visually impaired person, I LOVE that you guys did this one!! Selena Bostick living in New York City as a legally blind partially blind person I resonate with you so much! yes it is difficult but we get through it!
BigZed not all people who are deaf/hard of hearing have complete hearing loss, and there's a lot of bs that hearing people ought to be more aware of not to say to someone with impaired hearing or complete deafness.
An important thing to know is that most people don't intend to hurt or annoy with their questions, they are just awkward with words when they feel they have to say something. So this video is very important for people to understand each other and learn not what to say, but what not to say.
my mom is blind but she still see's shapes and white and black dots due to M.S. :/ but she can do everything on her own cuz since she worked with blind and deaf students she knows what to do, like count the stops on bus and trolley.
I have to say that the term "blind" is misleading. Most people assume that you are "blind" if you cannot see anything. There is a legal definition that allows people with some vision to be considered "blind." There should be a different word for people who cannot see anything. What do other people think?
Natanya T are usually just say that I have a vision loss condition. After that did you see what I can see you or not. For that reason I don't call myself blind unless I'm with other blind people.
I’m visually impaired and the fist day they signed off on my cane when a bully thought they could “prove that (I) was lying and could see” so ran at me from the side but he had squeaky shoes so when I jumped my cane hit him in the nuts 😂
One question I know the vid said don't ask this but quite a few places in the video the blind ppl r reading from their phone or paper do those ppl have partial vision or like what just curious
All have them have partial vision, only a small percentage of people who are registered blind have absolutely no sight. One of the women read from a paper by holding it really close to her face, meaning she probably can see things close up but not far away. Some blind people are more sensitive to light, so the light from their phone screens would’ve made the questions easier to read
I'm legally blind. My vision has gotten worse and worse over the years and I've been told that it's not gonna get any better. Of course, when I tell people this, their first question is, "How many fingers am I holding up?" Or they assume that all I see is pitch black or something. Like, no, I can *_see,_* just not well.
ꜱᴛᴇᴀᴍɪɴ' ʜᴏᴛ ɢᴀʀʙᴀɢᴇ I use glasses, and I took em' off for a moment. My friend asked me the "How many fingers am I holding up?" question, and I got a bit annoyed. When I actually looked, she didn't actually hold up any fingers... She just made this stupid hand sign we use to prank each other (kind of like "Made ya' look!")... xD
I need the magnifier on the computer to be at 400 and the thing i get all the time is sitting at the library computer and the person next to me will say "Oh! did you know you have the magnifier turned on?" and then try to tell me how to turn it off. One time I actually said to someone "Oh! No wonder i could see the screen!"
Let me start with I'm awkward af. I worked at a grocery store and one time said "high five". to a blind guy. It started like a normal interaction then quickly went south when I tried to hand his money back and I forgot he was blind. Then awkwardly got into his hand then said "yeah, high five". I even put my hand up. Awful, it was so embarrassing.
How are some of them reading comments? Their blindness isn't as bad as the others? I understand some typical blind individuals can see shapes and light and such but words?
Because being registered blind doesn't mean you can't see at all, and there are various conditions which affect individuals in different ways. Like with tunnel vision, an individual is able to see directly in front of them but not around them, so they might be able to read what's on the card in front of them but may not see someone moving a cup next to them or something, if that makes sense? It also works in the opposite sense, where someone might have to move their head to the side because they can see things projected off to the sides but not directly in front of them. And there's only two examples. Blindness is a very broad, umbrella term for a variety of different conditions.
XcheekybeccaX right thanks for reminding me about that. alot of various conditions that effect ones vision differently. The only experience I've had with blind people thus far is with my dad. He went blind a few months before he died and he said he really could only see light... I unde
Screen readers. Computer programs (built into all consumer PCs, just have to turn them on in Accessability settings) which read text aloud as audio speech.
Being legally blind myself I can't see a thing past six inches from my face. It's just a mess of blurs, no shape or forms. So what I do is hold my phone very close up. Maybe four or five inches away from my eyes and I can see my screen.

She would always used terms like "I've seen that one" or "Can we watch a film?" She'd never say.. "I've heard that one.."

Amber Shoffren it's inportant for a blind person to know that the shirt is red hahahaha
MsBlubermuffin They might not be able to see the red, but the fact that it's red can be symbolic so it's not useless to know
MsBlubermuffin It could help differentiate between the characters.

I once worked in a factory predominantly employed with blind people. As a male with a dozen piercings in my head, I'm usually judged as a scary ruffian before I've ever spoken, but for once in my life I was judged solely on the way I treated people, instead of how I look, and that was something special that I've never experienced anywhere else.

i think what people mean by "you don't look blind" is that you don't behave like you can't see. you move your eyes, your head, use gestures and all that, blind people in movies usually stand still.
common sense is not so common...
it really bugs me how blind people are portrayed in movies. Please, for the sake of every blind or visually impaired person I know or don't know Please don't believe anything they say about blind people in movies. It's insulting.
Sophiesticated but that's still a false comment. They're not "acting" blind, it's what they are. So however they live or act, that's how a blind person acts.
"usually'' ?
Sophiesticated it's still rude though
If a person's been blind all their lives, it's scary to think of what life would be like if they could see.

Blind people must fall in love based off of personality. Which is amazing and wonderful to be.

NotMostGirls you made my eye a bit wet

"A R E. Y O U. A L R I G H T!?"
"uh yeah are you?"
"not for me. I wish I wasn't blind" 😂
"You don't look stupid, but I'm pretty sure you are." :^)
Floaser21023 😂🤣

Literally nobody asked you to compare them.
It's either because of the exaggerated expression which seems fake or because you can hear the voices of blind people and it sounds natural and stuff
I just have bad vision. Can be fixed with glasses--if not most things are blurry over a foot away and this happens--it bothers me so I assume it does to blind people.
God bless these people; they are amazing people.
They are ordinary people with a great sense of humor. I guarantee you they don't consider themselves amazing because they do ordinary things like evderyone else. There's nothing wrong with them.
Same
Chloe Alexander my vison is 20/40 I don't have all glasses though I don't think I need em I just can't read from too far that's all
I CAN RELATE SOOO MUCH

This was so much fun to film! I couldn’t stop laughing the entire day! Thanks again BBC for having me ❤️
I would like one of these for Borderline Personality Disorder and one of these for Anxiety Disorders (PTSD,GAD,PANIC DISORDER)
Who agrees with me??❤❤
Julia M.Johansson Those have treatments. Doing a video like that will only encourage people to believe it's okay to have those.
Those I can actually agree with lol
@@Shamballa432. Not all of the medications work and some people can't afford them. Also, it's ok to not be ok. There are a lot of misconceptions.
Susan Sackinger BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHA!!!!!!!!!
Who else watches Tommy Edison?!
Finley Castello yasss
*_YAY!_*
Finley Castello He's one of my favorite person in the world :D
I heckin love him
Finley Castello I love Tommy Edison aha
"Does your guide dog tell you things?"
Wheezing at the very first question already!
Yeah, like dogs can speak English. 🙄
I love this series, so, as a visually impaired person, I LOVE that you guys did this one!! I'm a legally blind artist, singer, mermaid performer, bellydancer and now makeup/beauty vlogger, and sooooo much of what they talk about here resonates w/me! LOVING this! Thank you guys SO MUCH for making it! (And now I've gotta check out the other UA-camrs featured here, 'cause I only know Lucy and the lass reading off her phone, but so many of these other folks seem awesome! CHEERS, BBC 3! ♥♥♥
Sight I think is the main sense I don't think I could cope if I didn't have. I'm glad these people seem to look happy though.
Izzy it's very hard being blind or low vision but it's definitely something that you can overcome and still be able to live a happy fulfilling life. no I'm sure being fully sighted would make my life easier, I think I would still be just as grateful for the things I have :)
Demi Marcano I'm glad to hear that :) but as someone who is hoping to have a career in art.....my vision is something very important to me.
I'm glad as a blind person that I don't just seem to look happy, but am actually happy? I'd say there are many of us who are.
If anyone's interested, Lucy (the redhead) has a UA-cam channel called YesterdaysWishes. She's lovely.
“You don’t look blind!”
There’s a bit of an irony to that statement!
"Can you see the bus numbers?" is exactly why I hate going anywhere alone. I can't even see street lights. You won't believe how many close calls I've been in xD
oh my
Selena Bostick living in New York City as a legally blind partially blind person I resonate with you so much! yes it is difficult but we get through it!
me too. Got hit by a bus and a bike and almost by a car. lol
From a fellow blind person maybe you need to go get some mobility training. Just a suggestion. They do have a lot of good tips for overcoming that.
what's next? things not to say to a deaf person?
BigZed what?
The joke went over your head bud.
BigZed not all people who are deaf/hard of hearing have complete hearing loss, and there's a lot of bs that hearing people ought to be more aware of not to say to someone with impaired hearing or complete deafness.
plumear think u missed the joke:/
As a deaf/severely HOH person I actually laughed at this so lighten up people
Even just with short sightedness I'd choose to magically cure it if I was given the option, just because it's more convenient to have perfect sight
3:12 I'm screaming 💀💀💀💀💀
Go to a blind person 'CAN YOU HEAR MEEEE?' ;-;
Maverick lover Good for her :) What's MS? I've not heard of it.
Multiple Sclerosis, auto-immune disease. Look it up, idk how to discribe it
I have to say that the term "blind" is misleading. Most people assume that you are "blind" if you cannot see anything. There is a legal definition that allows people with some vision to be considered "blind."
There should be a different word for people who cannot see anything.
What do other people think?
Natanya T are usually just say that I have a vision loss condition. After that did you see what I can see you or not. For that reason I don't call myself blind unless I'm with other blind people.
"Does your mom help you get dressed?"
"Awkwardly, she still does."
"Yeah, I know... It's embarrassing."
"Mm."
I’m visually impaired and the fist day they signed off on my cane when a bully thought they could “prove that (I) was lying and could see” so ran at me from the side but he had squeaky shoes so when I jumped my cane hit him in the nuts 😂
I'M HOLLERING! 😂😂
Haha, that's perfect!
@@annieswatches best thing was the teacher witnessed it an had a smirk/laugh before saying “well you shouldn’t have run at her”😂
Way to go!!!! Sight is so ighly overrated.
but I can not see I'm legally blind
fr0g Is that a rare pepe?
Amber Shoffren I can not see I'm legally blind
fr0g ah oh shoot I didn't think about that. Your profile picture is a meme called pepe by the way. Sorry!
Amber Shoffren 😂😂 W

“George is that you?”
“Hey! Yeah long time no se-“

“All the time no see”
One question I know the vid said don't ask this but quite a few places in the video the blind ppl r reading from their phone or paper do those ppl have partial vision or like what just curious
Humairaa Kara Saaame!!! Idk.....
Aldewyne oh thanks for the info :)
@Shea Riverin Braille? No, I don't think so. Literally none of them Touched the papers

Title: Things Not To Say To A *Blind Person*
Them: gives them paper to read
“You don’t look stupid but you probably are” that was my fav😂
Let me start with I'm awkward af. I worked at a grocery store and one time said "high five". to a blind guy. It started like a normal interaction then quickly went south when I tried to hand his money back and I forgot he was blind. Then awkwardly got into his hand then said "yeah, high five". I even put my hand up. Awful, it was so embarrassing.
Zyona just say in front of your face. Lol and have them put their hand out so you can put the money in it.
"You haven't got a LEG to stand on!" "Yeah? Well you cant even SEE the point I'm trying to make here!"
"Well, you don't look stupid, but I'm pretty sure you are." Damn!🤣
+CraigMorton92 but they were reading off the screen
Being legally blind myself I can't see a thing past six inches from my face. It's just a mess of blurs, no shape or forms. So what I do is hold my phone very close up. Maybe four or five inches away from my eyes and I can see my screen.
