Grateful to Ali Abdaal and his team for having me on as a guest on his Deep Dive podcast. A fantastic experience and I hope those watching/listening enjoy it 🙂
Single most impactful podcast I’ve listed and felt. Thank you Simon! 🙏🏻 Off to grab your book! Absolutely loved Ali’s moderation on this podcast too! Lots of love!
22:12 - "you've got to understand that you have to make some sacrifices for what you want, otherwise the very thing that you want becomes what you sacrifice". Such a powerful reminder.
Thank you! For me, Simon is an exceptional public speaker who has a unique ability to convey complex ideas clearly, providing invaluable clarity to those seeking purpose.
The rise of the life-coaching industry has many benefits for both individuals and businesses. Life-coaching can help you achieve personal goals, develop new career aspirations, and improve relationships.
Personally, I know the prominence of one. The essence of financial advice cannot be overstated because having faced my fair share of the life's bad side, my wife and I have been able to pay off a $485k mortgage after Yvonne Annette Lively had been recommended by my coach. So yeah.
22:18 "You've got to understand that you have to make some sacrifices for what you want otherwise the very thing that you want becomes what you sacrifice" powerful stuff🦄🦋
This was a wonderful episode. Coaching changed the course of my life (for the better) more than 2x. Expert and grounded coaching demonstrated in this episode. I aspire to have an energy similar to Simon's when I coach my own clients. I am an ICF coach.
I recently had a situation where both of employees left and i had to jump in and run things myself alone. I desperately felt the need to have someone there who i can talk to, who could encourage me and just there to tell me that every next day will be better than the previous day. I was alone and really panicked. The same day I heard that someone i knew lost his job recently. I asked that person to come and work for me until he finds job in his area. The next day, i was at business location with that person, talking, doing things together, helping each other. All the negativity of the previous day was gone. Listening to this episode I realized that a true coach needs be like a companion and buddy.

I listened to this through Spotify, not sure if the immersion would be different compared to watching it on YT but I feel that Ali seems quite at a loss for words half the time while Simon is acting as his own facilitator in this interview which made it to be a bit of an awkward listening experience. As a podcast interviewer, I believe it's Ali's role to be the facilitator and keep nudging the interviewee for interesting insights instead of the other way round. It would be nice to do a bit more research on how 2-way successful podcasts (I really recommend Diary of a CEO because Steven is an amazing listener and prods his guest for a great 2-way conversation) keep conversations going. May be a one- time thing here and I understand Ali is newly venturing into the podcast world. Will keep supporting as I love the video contents, especially the Book Club series. Content-wise - Simon gave really gave valuable nuggets of insight and acting almost as a therapist role which is something I did not think a life coach would do.
I really liked this episode, I feel that Ali made the interview very helpful for beginners thus I could take a lot from it and could focus on Simon's wonderful points. For me, a more two-way interview in this specific episode would be counterproductive and I'm grateful that Ali and Simon didn't take this route. In many ways they showed us a live coaching session, which many of us never participated in.
Sure - it means that you have to believe in yourself first before others will, that you have to see value in what you can bring to the world first before others will and that you have to be your biggest champion first before others see your superpowers. PS. I hope you enjoyed my conversation with Ali :-)

Simon, I don't like talking to people, what do I do?
What is your favourite of communicating to others?
Can someone explain what he actually meant by "selling ourselves to ourself"?
