Gotta be honest and say I almost missed out on watching this one because the title wasn't 'sexy enough' as you both discussed in the video. But I'm so glad I didn't skip it as it may be one of my favorites you've done so far. So many insights and opportunities discussed within.
Oh my goodness 24:03 the question you posted for parents with kids who anre interested in pursuing liberal arts and hearing Joe share about what emerged within his daughter through their conversations is absolutely freakin phenomenal. Gosh it fills me all the way up. Wow wow WOW, thank you both for everything within you that allowed for this conversation happen!!! 🎯 💯
Thanks you, Ali and Joe for this beautiful episode, it was very helpful to me, and yes the title could be a little bit more on point, it is such a beautiful episode on emotion, something I have struggled with so much. It just clicked for me and for that I am thankful.
I love what I do, growing my business but also having fun while doing it. Purpose is the secret sauce that makes it happen. Insightful episode. Joe is awesome! Thanks Ali!
1:07 - For years I've said the only reasons anyone gets upset about something you say is because they know that you're right, or because you hit too close to home on something personal. It's almost always the prior, myself included.
I'm an aspiring full time freelance illustrator and baby youtuber and I struggle the most with doing those cold pitch emails to companies. I've really been inspired by a couple of Ali's videos lately (like the 10,000 a month one) and the 50 rejections and that story about his daughter is inspiring. And it is exactly what I need to do, send out those emails, but I am most resistant TO do. I think though, sometimes it isn't the rejection itself but all the work you put in to GET rejected. And I think that's why people are resistant to building a youtube channel too - there's no guarantee of success so it's like one giant rejection. But it's when we enjoy the process that things get done - apparently - so I guess I'll have to find a way to enjoy those cold emails.
I am bit surprised that you Ali Abdaal find it difficult to take criticism of book review. I have listen to several of yours UA-cam videos, you seems very composed and you talk to lots of smart people on your channel. We all know criticism can be very emotional and we are all the same, and nobody likes to be criticized.
Joe is really making the rounds lately! Does he have a book?
❤
You should try to get him on yours!
I think this one of the most valuable podcasts I've ever watched. 😅 Thanks to Ali and Joe🎉
