Cities Skylines is performing that good only since you have zero mods. You need at least 30 mods and 2000 assets for the most accurate performance benchmark, most people who play this game have that or even more mods.
I just received and am setting up this G15 purchased from dell ca's Black Friday deal. I am going to give it 2x 16GB DDR5.
The 330W power adaptor is a crazy heavy monster brick!!
I guess if I have checked carefully in advance that this 2023 model has 2 NVME slots, I would have purchased the base model with i5-13450HX (4 less Ecores), RTX-3050, and a 120Hz FHD display instead at CAD 500 less... and upgrade this with 2x 16GB DDR5 and 2TB M.2
Anyway, the QHD DCI-P3 display is quite impressive.
typing this on my 2016 dell g15 with a 1050 ti and i5 what a beast
Thank you for the review!!
I do wish they still kept an internal sd card reader like the dell 7000 series a few years back, but everything about this laptop just screams really good value and common sense. The RTX cards really pull their weight for such a portable forme factor, good review def my next buy if my current laptop kicks the bucket.
Great video quality ! Thanks
Glad I could help!
I brought one recently and I'm really impressed with the quality and the speed, and overall. I brought 2TB, 32GB Rtx3050ti
Im glad to hear that!
I just bought it on best buy. Open box excellent for 530
@@NK-nx3qqhow’s the battery manny
How’s the screen quality?
@@musclehead1992 good and battery lasts for 4 hours on 0% brightness
Thanks for the review!!!
Any time!
Hey nive review!
Do you recommend this laptop or the loq 15 from lenovo with same specs?
Good review 🎉
Hey Soul! Just wanted to say this was an awesome review and gave me a lot of information regarding the machine. Have a good day :)
Glad I could help, thank you for your kind comment! Hope you’ll stick around the channel :)
@@SoulOfTechI sure will! Also wanted to mention that I was highly impressed with the editing skills. This is random but have you had any dealings with the Asus TUF F15 (2023) gaming laptop? I had to setup a return via Amazon day due to thermal throttling (That or I was unlucky.) in Modern Warfare 2 and wondered if you had heard anything in regards to this being a issue.
I got my refund so I guess it's done and dusted but I'm interested if it was user error on my part perhaps. I've been a desktop gamer my own life and have made my own builds but only recently ventured into gaming laptops. Temps seem to be a major sticking point for some brands.
Anyway sorry for the rant! Great content :)
I’m considering getting this lab top it’s cool 🎉
You mention its RAM is expandable to 64GB but on all Dell sites I've checked its max is 32GB. I also noted from other reviews the power brick reminds me of the Commodore 64 1541 disk drive. I'm still buying one, thanks for the review.
Hi! Did you buy it?? How is it?
hey, For the charger of the g15 that have 240w someone had problems with the charger traveling with him on the plane?
Great review man keep it up
Thank you!
Do we know if this charger 330w can be replaced with a smaller charger, the last gen G15 had a smaller charger wonder if it would work with this? Its so massive would be nice to have smaller option for the power supply/charger.
What is the wallpaper size for it?
Almost want to buy this to replace my 2020 Triton 300 but that 330 watt brick seems unacceptable since a RTX 4050 does not need that much.
its on sale for $1100 right now on Dell
does this laptop have an additional gen 4 ssd slot ? 512 gb seems a little bit less !!
I just bought this one with rtx 4060. I am a 3D artist and I tested everything I could along with games and literally for this beast everything was like a walk in the park. Ignoring the build quality this is quiet a decent choice to have.
Bro please can you tell me if the battery is good
Would appreciate you
@@emanuel.mayersss yo whats up, if battery life is important to you, then you should consider other laptops that aren't meant for gaming, gaming laptops usually dont have good battery life. my dell g15 5530 can last 6 hours
@@emanuel.mayersss you are never going to be using a laptop like this running on battery unless youre just watching youtube or something because without being connected its only like 5% as powerful, if you try gaming without it connected its going to last for around only an hour and the fps will be bad so never play or work on battery power.
@@katz1105 also, the battery health would messed up quite fast if that's the use
I asked you if you were doing a G15 review a few weeks ago and you came through 🙌 i am getting the i5 version with refreshed RTX 3050 and 165hz panel, thanks for doing a fair and objective review.
Glad to be of help!
I know this is kind of an old video but thanks so much for it. I've been using the same Alienware 15 R3 w/ a 1060 for years... I really wanted the Alienware M18 to replace it but it's just not in the budget thanks to a recent injury. Gonna buy the G15 w/ 4050 tomorrow. Unfortunately I can't see that they offer it with the 1440p resolution screen anymore but I think it'll be a beast at 1080p so, that's fine. I have a rig at home with a 4070 Ti Super that I play @ 1440 and 4k so this is no biggie. But I've been doing a ton of research and your video is what has really sold me. This is an Alienware in a plastic body, that's about it. (Crying because I love the metal body of my 15 r3 but I'll suck it up lol).
Also, I never comment or like videos so... this is a big deal lol. Thanks!
Thanks for watching, Im really glad I was of assistance in your purchasing choice :)
I plan to buy this with the Ryzen 7 and 4060! Can’t wait!!
A great combination for sure!
is HP PAVILION AERO 13
AMD RYZEN 7 7735U, 16GB DDR5 RAM, 1TB SSD good for coding and some heavy softwares (like editing and all) and casual gaming
Great review. One thing that annoys me about this laptop is that Dell announced 3 flashy colours back in January but only the black version is available in the UK, still. I really liked the look of the purple one, but no idea if it's ever coming out in the UK... it came out in the US but only in June.
Yeah the tend to stagger configurations by region which is sad but its likely due to very limited laptop demand these days.
The shape of the laptop closed kinda reminds me of a george foreman grill, I like it
I got the 13650hx with 4050 and it thermal throttles(hwinfo) at the beginning of cincebench r23 when it's in performance mode in Alienware command center. In balance mode it restricts the wattage to keep temps cool. It's just 6 days since purchase. Should I keep it or seek refund.
How’s the battery please reply
How’s the AMD 5535 compare to the Intel 5530? Does the USB-C allow a Thunderbolt dock to work?
I'm having trouble deciding between the G15 5530 and the MSI Thin GF63 12VE-612NL since they have relatively the same specs. I'm honestly more aiming towards this one since i heard the hinge on the MSI laptop breaks easily and this screen seems way better with better colors and higher refresh rates. Although the G15 that i'd be getting is an i5 intel core and the msi has an i7 core and 1TB storage instead of 512GB. Aside from that i'd probably prefer the Dell G15 from what i'm seeing.
Never buy MSI Gf63 series. It's terrible. Get the G15 all the way.
Let me know what u get I’m having same thoughts
@@yusufahamed7107 I went with the MSI Cyborg 15 A12VF. I'm glad i went with this. Its got an intel i7-12650H, RTX 4060, 16gb DDR5, IPS screen with 144hz, and 512GB. Battery life sucks but to be honest i was most likely going to be plugged into the charger constantly anyways. I didn't want to risk a terrible hinge with the GF63 and the cyborg is still relatively light and so far has really good build quality (including the hinge).
Keep in count the battery life of both laptops . G15 has a longer battery life than GF63
dell is bulletproof
just bought one with amd 7840HS and rtx 4060 $670 after coupons and amex offer. might have to upgrade ssd
I just found this laptop but it has a 4060 and the same CPU, but it's 1080p. It's $1300 right now, does anyone have this laptop or think it's a solid deal? I'm curious about the screen and whether any of the components are upgradeable.
I bought this laptop with the same specs. I recommend! make sure u upgrade to 32 gigs of ram tho windows 11 eats it up. I get 120+ frames maxed out settings in most of my games
@@dominictornatore3758 does this laptop have extra ssd slot?
can you do one review of hp aero ryzen 7 variant
I can look into it for sure :)
Yo. Bought this 2 weeks ago, amazing but i dont know how to change the keyboard colors. Can u help me w that?
It doesnt change color except if you’ve bought the RGB 4-zones keyboard included
@@sueliosaldanha8593I couldn’t find that version anywhere 😭
Starting eng at uni in the fall and looking for a powerful laptop that will be able to run 3d rendering and such. Looking for 16gb ram i7 512gbs and a decent battery life. Any suggestions are appreciated under 2,000 cad
this g15will do the work.
The G15 should do great. It is right at your price point too!
thanks for the response. I don't want to sound too picky but it looks a little to "gamey". I have been looking at the ThinkBook 15 Gen 4 Intel (15”) and the IdeaPad Slim 5i. Any other suggestions? @@SoulOfTech
Im confused between dell g15 i7 and lenovo loq i7. Suggestions anyone?
Dell in this case, Lenovo loq and idea pad are not that great, if u got the budget for it go for a legion. Acer also a good choice with nitro lineup recently
Just picked one up at Best Buy for 799 with 1tb and 4050
I think I'm about to get it for the same price! Which system are you upgrading from? I currently have a G15 5587 (i5-8300H, 8 GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce MaxQ). I'm wondering whether it's worth replacing the battery, upgrading RAM, etc. on my current system or getting the same computer you bought and keeping my current one for back-up.
First laptop lol.
@@Billygoat23does it have an extra ssd slot?
Does it have an RGB or just a red backlit keyboard?
only red
Man I wanted to buy Dell but the weight is too much for me. I have a Dell 7567 which is kind off the similar weight as g15 and it hurts. I thought of buying HP Victus 15 but the screen quality is terrible. I am an Architect so colour accuracy is necessary. Please suggest me a good laptop in g15 or victus price range!
Good question. I'm in the same boat. Have you found any decent alternatives?
for coding and graphic design
Which laptop should you buy?
HP victus
(16GB DDR4, i7 12650h, RTX 3050ti)
either
Dell G15
(16GB DDR5, Ryzen 7-6800H, RTX 3050Ti)
I want quality and long duration.
I accept other recommendations
I know its a month late, but when I looked the reviews on best buy for victus, a few said there are issues and they returned it
Hi guys, I am considering to purchase this laptop mainly for the use of architecture softwares (Rhino, Grasshopper).
-Does anyone knows if it is possible to switch the color of the keyboard to WHITE only ?
-Is it possible to add a second memory card ?
Thank you all for your feedback.
Best.
I haven’t bought this laptop but it does appear the lights are only white unless you can find a version where you can change the colors which did exist but are rare now.
I'm kind of torn weather should I buy this laptop for my architecture program. Is it worth it to buy this? My professor told me we're going to use Revit.
Make sure you have 32 gig ram
an intel core i 7 would be more idea over i5
did you buy this one? i’m also planning to buy for interior designing
is this better then ASUS ROG Strix G16 (2023 ?
Should I go for this or the new Inspiron 14 plus work school and gaming
The larger body of the G15 means it has superior thermals. If size/weight and form factor is not a concern the G15 will offer more in the exact same specs due to a cooler system.
@@SoulOfTech thanks bro
@@SoulOfTech can you make a review of the new 14 plus
Luffy gear 5 nice
Getting mine in about 6 days. 4050 i5 model. Gonna be sooooo much better than my curent shitty quadcore and gtx 1650.
How is it ? I just bought i7 4060 model
Absolutely insane. It’s the best laptop I’ve ever had. Only complaint is the massive power brick.
@@PedroBastozz good to hear. Mines coming in 2 days so I guess no regrets for me lol
7:57 what's this coding program you were using called? I wanna install that. I wanted to dabble into coding.
It's very similar to visual studio code. I would recommend that or code sandbox
@nileredsexperiment834. He's using Pycharm IDE and the launguage is python as the file name has ( .py) extension.
Python
i think its pycharm from jetbrains
Will this run Alan wake 2?
I've got the 4060 version for about 4-5months now and it's an absolute beast for its pricerange, really sturdy and a quite nice design - i actually like the black design as opposed to having something more colorful/gamerdesign. Your video along with a few others helped me make the decision towards buying this laptop, so thank you very much for your review! (mainly you, nuclearnotebook and binosha tech relieved any questions/qualms i had about this being the right laptop for me. Im very glad i didnt go for supercheap flimsy buildquality MSI again like my previous laptop, im sure its capable but id rather have something with a buildquality like this G15 5530)
Just to answer a few questions i see in the comments:
screen is rly good, seems like the corners on lowest brightness get a bit darker than the center of the screen, batterylife is decent but yea its a gaming laptop so just plug it in when doing heavy load tasks, surface temp aint that bad but when im gaming on the couch or in bed it can toast my legs slightly.
In short, its everything i could have wanted and more from a midrange gaming laptop, it definitely punches above its weight. Even though its weight is probably its biggest drawback :P
Oh yea i nearly forgot; i wouldnt recommend this laptop if youre planning to move around outside the house with it alot, better go for something a bit lighter, as the powerbrick seems to weigh close to what the laptop itself weighs - i think 3kg in total together..
How worried should we be about the thermals?
very good review
Glad you think so!
@@SoulOfTech yeah i have the 5520 using it mainly to run cubase
I love the reserved color. You can work in public setting not looning like an idiot 😅

Tell me abt the thermals and battery life please 😊
One of my main pet peeves with these laptops is that no one can explain why a numeric pad is included in a 15" GAMING laptop. If I want to key in numbers I will use a decent large external keyboard. They could have designed the laptop with more intakes or move the speakers firing upward.
what about people who use 3d apps such as blender ,revit and autocad... you can buy an alienware that hasnt those keys
As someone who bought the comp for my EE program it’s a big plus
Well it already has plenty of airflow as it is it has two fans working the heat out after all
Numpad is great for 10 key use. I have an XPS that is painful to use for spreadsheet input. I like that the G15 is dual purpose gaming and work.
i just use it as a soundboard
👍
trash?
Best 1080p laptop there is. I wouldn't get QHD. It's too much for a 4060.
I agree, the 4060 peaks at 1080p gaming. Any higher and your frames suffer hard.
@@portman8909 Very true!
