Excellent vid, great info! I got my G15 a little over a year ago on sale for just over $600 and while it works I'd def like something that performs a bit better while gaming. Right now this laptop is on sale for just over $1k and I am seriously considering based on your review, so thank you!
This thing still looks super futuristic to me. I duno, it ain't about money. I am just a bigger fan of the G series than alienware. Alienware desktops don't even come with integrated graphics cards. This seems more professional for some reason. I have been a dell fanboy since I was a kid. One of these would make my day. hahaha
you should change your title, as the "save your money" line leads me to believe i shouldn't buy this and should save my money for another machine. That being said, I am happy for the honest review. It's on sale now in Canada for $1500 CDN and with employee discount it comes out to $1232 plus taxes. There's a G15 with an i9 and a 3070ti for $200 more, but like you said, that G15 got some pretty bad reviews. I am not a hardcore gamer by any means (if i was i probably wouldn't be contemplating the G15/16 and would be on Alienware) but i don't think that I personally would see a huge difference in the 3070Ti vs the 3060 in this machine. I am replacing a 10yr old HP unit with 630M graphics, so anything will be better, and hopefully not melt my knees while resting there.
I was willing to stick with my AW17R2 but the mobo cut me short after 8 trusty years. Got the 2023 G16 i9 13900HX 32GB RAM and couldn't be happier ... but then again anything new was gonna be an awesome upgrade from the old AW beast
@kayaksnorkeluk8272 Yeh, it's all good in my view a couple of weeks into it now. I've run 2 virtual machines each configured with 8GB RAM and 2 Processors with 4 Cores each (so total half RAM used and 16 Processor cores utilised) and this model, obviously as the physical host didn't blink ... along with purring VM's. I don't think you'll be disappointed, and I'm sure it'll chew through video edits with ease as well.👍I also transferred a cloned original drive over to a 2TB EVO NVME and chucked another 2TB EVO at it for good measure ... Intel software had a whinge about managing the drive and pulling my leg about a non existant error but that was a simple fix ... uninstall offending Intel whinging software 😁
I got the exact same build except for I got the 16GB ram. I just plan on using it for work and regular home use. Did you have any problems with it overheating? I have seen a lot of people saying that it gets really hot even with light use.@kayaksnorkeluk8271

The Dell G16 has gotten better the last couple of years, so I'd go with the "baby Alienware" for the win.
I prefer the “work laptop” look of this, because I don’t want that “gamery” look.
Do you think the new version with the rtx 4070 and i9 13900 is worth it?
Yes
Depends if you're a geek who gets off on buying things to feel good about yourself

What do you choose a Dell G16 or M15r7, the difference are $50, but the M15r7 only have 512
I’d go with the Alienware. Better look. Better quality. You can always add another 512 or 1tb SSD with the $50+ you save.
