Like I was with toshiba. hahaha, you couldn't even access the bios. The harddrive was magnetic oldschool. This would be fun to see. through gsync. anyway.. Thanks for the review.
Not sure why you were getting 3+ hrs. on your battery. I have an AMD version of this laptop purchased over TG along with Asus and Lenovo and this laptop on normal usage surpasses 8+ hrs. any given day. Other than the USB-C thunderbolt not being a charging port, Gen 3.1 USB and the brick adaptor there is not much to complain given the price point of this laptop last month at $700+ for 4050 and $800+ for 4060. Also, the laptop on balanced mode on Alienware app hardly fires up the fans on normal usage and the temp hovers around 31C - 34C.

They started cutting corners. I used the Inspiron 7577 which has probably the best build ever. No flex especially on the keyboard. It's disappointing watching them go from that to this.
The bad: I bought a Dell G15 4 years ago and the battery just stopped holding a charge well. The plastic is cracking apart in more than 1 place. It's at the end of its life. The good: It's so fast and good at multi-tasking for the price I found it. So much that I still ordered another Dell G15 to replace it yesterday.
I have this laptop with 1tb of storage and it had 16gb of ram, I later upgraded to 32gb of ram and honestly I love this laptop. It runs bo6 with 120-140 fps easy and I’ve have zero issues running any game I want on this with high quality settings. For what you pay for I think it’s a great buy

I'll chime in, since I've had mine in almost an identical configuration for just under a year (purchased Black Friday 2023). Here's my full setup: Dell G15 5530 | i9 13900HX, RTX 4060 8 GB, 32GB RAM, 165Hz screen HyperX Quadcast S + Corsair HS70 Pro wireless (USB) + UE Miniboom BT speaker MX Master 3S + Arteck 3-device BT keyboard 2 external monitors Primary uses are Photoshop and Premiere Pro editing, simultaneous gaming + Twitch streaming, plus a host of daily regular work tasks (multiple spreadsheets, email, web browsing, Teams/Zoom meetings, etc.). Starting with the only big con: The weight and battery life make this more of a desktop replacement than an on-the-go laptop. After a year of usage with the battery settings set for "Mostly connected to power" I average 2-2.5hrs of battery life doing minimal stuff like watching movies and sending emails. BUT...I bought this knowing I'd leave it connected to the charger pretty much all the time, and looking at the specs, I can't imagine most people would think this is something to stick in a bag and pull out at a coffee shop or a boardroom meeting. So if you go in with the right expectation, I almost can't even call that a "con" because it's effectively a portable desktop computer, which I've used with a portable monitor to run Twitch streams from friends' places, and even while travelling, when I can afford to bring the extra weight and want something insanely powerful in a hotel room. The build quality could definitely use a bit of an upgrade, since the trackpad isn't perfect and the plastic backing on the screen does feel a bit flimsy, but again: If you're using this as-intended, as a desktop replacement, grab a good external mouse and keyboard, and those will hardly be noticeable. Now for the pros: This thing is an absolute BEAST for any workhorse tasks. - 2-3 hour 15GB+ Premiere Pro 2023 video edits take

i see a lot of people in the comments complaining about the price, the plastic, battery life, power brick, but what can you recommend me instead of the g15 for that price? im planning on buying this g15 2023 version and i need some advice.
Buy the intel 13th version and get gtx 4050 if budget allow. Or rtx 3050 6gb if possible. Why ? Because there is a bios update for intel ver g15 to use mux switch and 6gb is least exp for esports games as well as casual games.

Hi, very nive review Mathew, thanks! Now it's been quite a while so I don't know if it's still relevant, but that g15 is now at 1200€ where I live. Would you say it makes it worth the buy? Or are there other competitors at that pricepoint who do better? I wouldn't mind some gaming but I'll mostly use it for Photoshop drawing with a screen tablet and beginer level Blender/Zbrush sculpting... The amount of near identical specs on the market make a laptop choice a little tedious! Videos like yours help!
I have 2 options according to my needs. On one hand, I have Asus Tuf F15, core i5 12500H, NVIDIA RTX 3050 4 GB, RAM 16 GB DDR4, 15.6 144 Hz along with a Backpack and a mouse for 749 Pounds sterling. On the other hand, I have a Dell G15, core i5 13450HX, NVIDIA RTX 3050 6GB, RAM 16 GB DDR5, 15.6 120Hz for 719 Pounds sterling with 4 zone RGB keyboard. The issue is with refresh rate and battery size which are inclining towards TUF and DDR5 RAM and 6GB graphic card inclining towards Dell.
Now, I am confused between these kindly suggest the best option.
How long does the battery last if you disable the 4060 and use the IGPU instead? Basically you only enable the 4060 to game, so you save the extra watts the discrete GPU uses.
Doesn't really change much, unfortunately. The most I've gotten out of it on battery saver settings with all the NVidia GPU settings off is about 4 hours. This is more of a desktop replacement than a daily on-the-go laptop.
The 4060 pulls 140W in this laptop that’s why it performs better than others. Also there is MUX Switch in this laptop which most others do not have. Look into what is MUX. You will not be disappointed. If you are recording a video and act like you know the best, you must know and share this info.
can the trackpad be any further to the left? non-centered trackpads have been a big pet peeve of mine. lots of interesting laptops out there i never bought because of that. yes, it has a numeric keypad so it’s more justified, but not my cup pf tea having a numeric keypad in a laptop.
@@blackgeeser So far I love it. It runs super fast and smooth and does a good job at cooling. I’d say I’m satisfied with my purchase especially since I got it for $700 ($850 on sale and I had $200 in points saved up at Best Buy)
Any idea whether it has a battery power monitor which can enable you set the battery charge to say 80 instead of 100 for longevity of battery??? I know lenovo has this. Thanks.
This thing is a beast my brother got this in February for $550 and trade me my omen 15 with a rtx 2060 because this was to heavy to carry around at school 😂😂
Mine came with so many white dots in the screen. Only time it goes away is playing video games… I wanted to use computer for also editing videos what to do?
Same concern. Dell 15 (i7, 4060, 16gb and Legion 5i 16 (i7-Windows 11 Home-16GB-1TB). Price is higher on Legion. Lenovo’s display is better (brightness), higher refresh rate on Dell but as the statement above on the review, 360hz is an overkill. Memory is better as Dell has GDDR5 vs GDDR6 on Legion. My first pick before checking on specs online was Dell, however, if I’ll be having an extra £200-£300, I’ll go with Lenovo.
Whoever thought the internal design of the g15 was a good idea, needs to rethink their life choices. Even on paper, the design choice to invert the heatsink onto the top is just a bizarre and pointless, as the temps are pathetic , heat dissipation is mediocre and makes the thermal repaste a damn tiring chore. It looks sturdy and gamery, but yeah the thermal solutions are a huge bellyflop into concrete imo.
Hi guys, I am considering to purchase this laptop mainly for the use of architecture softwares (Rhino, Grasshopper). -Does anyone knows if it is possible to switch the color of the keyboard to WHITE only ? -Is it possible to add a second memory card ? Thank you all for your feedback. Best.
Lol why so much hate here for g15 i am still rocking mine...it all depends on what config and at what price you buy. I got min 2yrs ago and mine costed same as other laptops while crushing them in benchmarks😂
As someone who owns this (no kidding), I was on google for 10 MINUTES AND THIS SHIT DIED Also carrying it around school with the charger and all has almost dislocated my fucking shoulder why is the charger so big
See I want to say something that is : If you're thinking to purchase the gaming laptop then please go with other companies because dell is taking $ more as compared to other companies because you're buying laptop for gaming which is also comes with good amount of ports but in dell this is Inverse like more $ and not as much ports.
Honestly, I would always got for a Lenovo Legion. I had a Dell G3 3590 and it was horrible. So many issues plus the customer support is even worst. Trust me Lenovo is way better
I run Photoshop 2020 and Premiere Pro 2023 on mine and it's absolutely flawless. We record 2-3 hour video podcast episodes, so I'm editing 8 video + 2 audio tracks through Premiere Pro, and export times for 1080p 60fps are under 20 minutes with 15-20GB file sizes. Photoshop usage is a little more basic, but it fully loads in about 6 seconds and I have yet to see it hang while editing, using daily for about a year.
Reminds me of my dell 7567 ive been using for the past 5 years. Do not need something that bulky again for my next laptop 😂 Also great content but that g-spot comment made me cringe

Not get the most out of the display. 4060 won't perform that well
Like ur review would u suggest a legion slim 5(16”) or 5pro
Do you think we'll see 4070ti laptops at some point?
I got this laptop. Is it normal if CPU throttles while running Puget for premiere pro? Or there's problem. Kindly let me know it's not even month by now.
Can't you reduce the 360Hz to the next refresh setting down ? I would have preferred a 90Wh instead of a 86Wh battery.
Any revieiws on the Ryzen 7 variant? The rtx 4060 Dell G15 5535
I haven’t found anything similar either bro. I just got it today, and it’s on the wey to get tomorrow. Hope it has been a good buy.
@@IvanBikerupdate please
Hi, very nive review Mathew, thanks!
Now it's been quite a while so I don't know if it's still relevant, but that g15 is now at 1200€ where I live.
Would you say it makes it worth the buy? Or are there other competitors at that pricepoint who do better?
I wouldn't mind some gaming but I'll mostly use it for Photoshop drawing with a screen tablet and beginer level Blender/Zbrush sculpting...
The amount of near identical specs on the market make a laptop choice a little tedious!
Videos like yours help!
Love ur vids
really confused on cinebench part.
3:50 yeah they did sacrifice some keys, the standard Home, End, Pg Up, Pg Dn keys are being killed off by stupid "calculator " and power keys.
4:42 wtf i got jumpscared by genshin impact version 4.1 trailer 💀
Which is better this laptop for 1200 or a ROG g16 rtx4050 for 1000?
Dell G15. You get more VRAM
hey, For the charger of the g15 that have 240w someone had problems with the charger traveling with him on the plane?
LOQ 2024 our g15 5530?
I have this exact laptop but I don’t have the manage display settings on control panel
Who’s the battery man I would wppreacite if you replied
can the trackpad be any further to the left? non-centered trackpads have been a big pet peeve of mine. lots of interesting laptops out there i never bought because of that. yes, it has a numeric keypad so it’s more justified, but not my cup pf tea having a numeric keypad in a laptop.
It's very helpful when you work with spreadsheets and budgets
What's wrong with the Dell laptops, you said you avoided?
Is this supposed to be a replacement for the G16/G17 lineup?
Its $899 on dell's website. 7840hs, 4060, 512gb. Is it a good buy at this price?
Best Buy has it for $50 cheaper $850 same specs I just picked one up!
@@OffDuhHeezy oh nice. I'm going to check it out. How do you like it so far?
@@blackgeeser So far I love it. It runs super fast and smooth and does a good job at cooling. I’d say I’m satisfied with my purchase especially since I got it for $700 ($850 on sale and I had $200 in points saved up at Best Buy)
really quickly, would yal say the 120 hrtz option is any good, for price reasons
How does it compare to Hp victus 15, I’m looking to get one
Any idea whether it has a battery power monitor which can enable you set the battery charge to say 80 instead of 100 for longevity of battery??? I know lenovo has this. Thanks.
This thing is a beast my brother got this in February for $550 and trade me my omen 15 with a rtx 2060 because this was to heavy to carry around at school 😂😂
Mine came with so many white dots in the screen. Only time it goes away is playing video games… I wanted to use computer for also editing videos what to do?
what would you prefer between dell g15 vs legion pro 5i (same specs)
Same question
Same concern. Dell 15 (i7, 4060, 16gb and Legion 5i 16 (i7-Windows 11 Home-16GB-1TB).
Price is higher on Legion.
Lenovo’s display is better (brightness), higher refresh rate on Dell but as the statement above on the review, 360hz is an overkill. Memory is better as Dell has GDDR5 vs GDDR6 on Legion.
My first pick before checking on specs online was Dell, however, if I’ll be having an extra £200-£300, I’ll go with Lenovo.
Its only 900 on the website for me
Do you recommend this one or lenovo loq 15 with i7 13700 and rtx 4050 ?
This one
Whoever thought the internal design of the g15 was a good idea, needs to rethink their life choices. Even on paper, the design choice to invert the heatsink onto the top is just a bizarre and pointless, as the temps are pathetic , heat dissipation is mediocre and makes the thermal repaste a damn tiring chore. It looks sturdy and gamery, but yeah the thermal solutions are a huge bellyflop into concrete imo.
this is for 5530 model right?
At $650 open box this thing is a pretty solid buy. Just atrocious battery life and it’s a boat anchor.
I bought it 3 weeks ago, the keyboard's light was working so well , but now it's not working, What should I do?
I think you should set it in the Alien Control Center
Would this laptop be good for editing 4k videos?
Hi guys, I am considering to purchase this laptop mainly for the use of architecture softwares (Rhino, Grasshopper).
-Does anyone knows if it is possible to switch the color of the keyboard to WHITE only ?
-Is it possible to add a second memory card ?
Thank you all for your feedback.
Best.
Lol why so much hate here for g15 i am still rocking mine...it all depends on what config and at what price you buy.
I got min 2yrs ago and mine costed same as other laptops while crushing them in benchmarks😂
Dont compared 2023 version and your version because different price and hardware combo
G15 2021 model is regarded one of the best gaming laptops that year. Seems Dell got complacent and didn't innovate their G15 lineup since.
does this laptop have an additional gen 4 ssd slot ? 512 gb seems a little bit less !!
completely replace the 512gb card with 1tb, now it costs more for you though
Make an update video on the asus g16 zeph
I respect you for saying those "man jokes" like G spot/G key etc, which are shunned by feminists and the woke crowd nowadays. Respect honestly here
You're scared of "offending " those snowflakes! Lol
I wonder if he was trying to be funny.
This one or Lenovo Legion 5 pls ?
Dell is better imo
Link to the wallpaper on thr thumbnail?
Is it metal made?
But for Notice: The 360Hz Version is actually cheaper.
I think I'll just buy HP Omen at this point of price
Is that the dell G5 or the Dell G 15?
G15 I apologize for the confusion
Can anyone tell me if there is a way to make the USB-C connect directly to the GPU?
You can't, unfortunately. Only the HDMI port connects to the GPU.
@@synaru5934thank you for the update! I ended up going Asus for this reason.
Can you talk about how is battery life? just for administrative work. Thank you
Admin work as in emails and office ? probably 5 or so hours.
AMD CPU for this same laptop is much cheaper than this
N-Key Rollover?
As someone who owns this (no kidding), I was on google for 10 MINUTES AND THIS SHIT DIED
Also carrying it around school with the charger and all has almost dislocated my fucking shoulder why is the charger so big
LOL ya the charger size is ridiculous for the GPU that's inside of it.
But hey on the brighter side when your life is in danger, at least you could use that massive power brick for self defense lol.
See I want to say something that is :
If you're thinking to purchase the gaming laptop then please go with other companies because dell is taking $ more as compared to other companies because you're buying laptop for gaming which is also comes with good amount of ports but in dell this is Inverse like more $ and not as much ports.
Isn't it called the dell g15
Dell g5 15. Some people just call it the g15
Why do they keep putting numpads on gaming machines?
Sometimes we can do math 😂
Can anyone tell me whats the gpu wattage is i dont have time to watch the video
Honestly, I would always got for a Lenovo Legion. I had a Dell G3 3590 and it was horrible. So many issues plus the customer support is even worst. Trust me Lenovo is way better
Yea i have a dell rn and it’s not a gaming laptop but the build quality and battery is just bad
Bro what is your review about Asus laptop compare to dell laptop in reliable laptops
Has anyone used this for Adobe graphics suite: Photoshop, illustrator, In Design, etc
"It gets stiff pretty fast, that is what she said". Dude, that is not age appropriate at all. 😂
LOL Don worry most people missed it how plainly he delivered those lines without any expression.
Is this viable nowadays
Can it support 5600mhz memory?
Reminds me of my dell 7567 ive been using for the past 5 years. Do not need something that bulky again for my next laptop 😂
Also great content but that g-spot comment made me cringe
Hahaha it feels like I can kill someone with this machine, or even with the power brick alone 😂😂😂
