About the vigilante missions: when I played it I would get a high enough wanted level so the fbi cheetas would spawn. Then steal one and constantly respray it :)
I love that you failed the stunt jump in the intro montage 😂 that really takes me back to my childhood. I think the vigilante missions are fine. You just have to steal a Vice Squad Cheetah and respray it when you're wanted. You get plenty of time. When the suspects drive in a straight line, you can park ahead of them and use the stub shotgun, it works just as well for destroying moving vehicles as doing drive-bys.

Your brother fucked up only letting you do side missions (lol)
I think San Andreas has more replay value, but Vice City has always been my favorite. A good full length playthrough once every other year, something like that, takes me back
It took me some time but learn to bait the wanted level and steal a vice city undercover cheetah you can do vigilante missions and you can take them to pay and spray to fix them. They are fast enough that you can get away with fixing them several times, especially if you start the vigilante missions over by the pizza boy mission close to the north point mall.
I just started replaying the original on steam after never finishing it years ago and have found so much it’s an amazing game and I’ll three deserve the remake. I would love the dlcs aswell like lc and vc stories
500 subscribers wtf great video man, the game is sick, I’ve played it on PS3 and PS4, completed it only console but loved it. It was a bit challenging at first. Glad to have a copy of this game and love it to bits man Great video and keep it up.
I very rarely give out comments, but i must say, i watched both of your reviews about III&Vice City, and as an GTA fan of little over twenty years i did really enjoy them. You gave out concise statements, and explained quite nicely how the mechanics of the games themselves expanded in just a few years of development time. Bearing this in mind i'm really hoping you could do an similar review about San Andreas. Thanks for the great videos!
Very cool I found your channel yesterday from the GTAIII recap, subbed, and then today you uploaded your take on Vice City! I agree, Vice City is still great. Of the three main 3D era games though it's third for me (first would be 3, then SA). I had VC on PC and then PS2 and finally PS4 and I have always known it to be a little crash-happy & buggy on ALL versions, likely owing to the short development time. There were two other problems I had with it though... The map, while certainly not bad, was horrendous compared to GTAIII and SA. I always detested how nearly half of the first island was nothing but empty beach. Also, many times the roadways simply didn't make any sense like the the single building safehouse to the west central/north part of the first island (across from the golf course islands) that had a road entirely around it even though there was nothing on three of those four sides. There is more I can rant about with the map but overall it's just not as endearing as Liberty City and later San Andreas. The other problem I had with it, and admittedly it's a double edged sword, was the AAA voice actors and even the traditional pop tune soundtrack. As you pointed out, having non-famous voice actors gave the other GTA games a different and more authentic feel. I would say the same about the soundtrack. Now, it would be a disservice to do an 80s game without that awesome contemporary soundtrack but one of the things I LOVE about GTAIII that makes it still to this day my favorite GTA release is that it had an entirely unique and mostly unknown soundtrack (not including the Scarface soundtrack on Flashback FM, the classical music on Double Cleff - interestingly the game itself along with its manual spell Double Cleff with both one and two Fs - and maybe the music on MSX as I was unfamiliar with that genre. I'm looking forward to your take on SA and I hope you do LCS and VCS as well!
Thank you mate, that timing worked out quite well then. I'm not sure which I prefer over 3 or VC yet as they both have great qualitites. I enjoyed the more realistic city in 3, but VC is a much funner game overall. Both soundtracks are great in their own right too. The 80s tracks in VC are infectious, but I enjoyed how eclectic 3 was, and how nostalgic it was for 90s/earlys 00s. Thanks for watching, subbing and commenting!
Overly harsh criticism when San Andreas' map had a void area of pointless desert. There were many more crashes in SA as well due to its ambitions. The AAA/Hollywood actors were already voice acting in GTA 3 too... I could go on. Fact is, Vice City is a masterful game that exudes character and pure 80s glamour - no game has been able to compete with how well GTA adopted that era. Even to this day.
The quality of your video blew my mind. Couldn't skip one bit. You made me hooked the entire time. Keep up the good work. It takes time to get recognised but it happens eventually. 👍
Thank you! Yeah, it worked out quite well. I didn't realise the remasters were coming when I reviewed GTA 3, but it's a nice surprise. Cheers for watching too.
To be fair though, I feel like the voice actors in vice city are way bigger than 3, especially at the time they were made. But Reynolds, Ray Liota, Luis Guzman, Fairuza Balk, William Fichtner, Dennis Hopper, Danny Trejo, Gary Busy, and Lee Majors. These are bonafide stars for different eras. 3 had some decent voice actors but dam nowhere near this level or on this scale. Calling it a first is incorrect I would agree to some degree, but the scale of almost everyone being a big name is quite different than a few big names being involved.
These are the best reviews I’ve ever seen for these old gta games! So happy to have discovered this channel and to be a subscriber keep up the awesome work!
@@TwinSticksReviews Yeah. I hate to criticize you, because I can see the work behind the video getting all the footage and stuff. But if you play with controller on standard settings, it has to be peaking behind corners. Best way to play is with mouse and keyboard it is almost fast pace. Best way to do the vigilante missions is with the hunter combat Heli I tell ya! :D Don't do it with the squad car do it with the cheetah from the vice team, you can respray it. The worst map section is the second Island, I agree. And I don't like the scale of some textures on some buildings because they are wrong scaled and gigantic.
I'm from Russia and i enjoy watching your videos, keep doing something like this. Vice City was my first game, i download game from torrent and play wity mods, but my favorite GTA is GTA III.
When I was a child I went to one of my friend's house because he said his older brother has a really cool game I should check out, it was GTA Vice City. Needless to say my world was never the same anymore.
the trick for the ambulance missions is to do it at the start of the game, especially GTA 3, then you don't have the gangs shooting at you. For vigilante in Vice city, steal the apache helicopter once you unlock the second island. Makes the vigilante mission even easier then the rhino
As someone who's never played a GTA game before, this being my first one, I cannot express my love and appreciation for the taxi system enough. I'm getting hung up on missions a lot, so having a conveniently placed taxi at the entrance of every hospital I come out of that I can take instead of hoofing it back to the mission myself is a godsend. That money isn't required for its service is also a HUGE plus, as I often find myself flat broke after multiple failed attempts.
Love the quality of your vids bro! Seems like a lot of preparation and dedication goes into your vids. I enjoy history of games and this was a pretty cool insight to Vice City.
Glad you like them man. They take a lot of time, but it's a lot of fun too. Thanks, it's interesting seeing how games have changed from then to now and how Vice City still holds up pretty well.
I still play this game when I have a day off just to play games. I literally took back my new console after I realized every time I have a chance to play games I go back and play this or RCT on pc, doom, halo 2. The newer games are lacking horribly. Yeah you get a diamond every once in awhile but it’s hard to drop 5-600 on a maybe. I hope one day they will do another vice city/similar game with the effort they put into gta 5, this is a deserving title to give it a remake.
The OG unmodded version have widescreen so it doesnt look stretched on modern displays but it cuts out field of view. So its more like pick your poison.
@@sebastiankulche Yes but there is no reason to play unmodded. We know R* can make great games, but especially the PC ports are technically terrible. For the 3D games you only need Widescreen patch, silent patch, SkyGFX and optionally GInput for gamepad support. Easy to install and it only makes the games how they are supposed to be. Or simply use re3. Great option if you just want to play the original games (3 & VC) and don't want to bother with mods.
I am happy that even though I haven't subscribed to this channel, I still got to see this video. This video is great from my perspective, Vice City actually became from a DLC to a dream, which many would have liked to live. This amazing game cannot be forgotten, as this is my second GTA that I have played after SA, and I can tell that if the remaster coming is a bit better than the original version, then the game would be again greeted with greater appreciation. Hope the remaster has some elements of its original game since the original is getting removed from everywhere, which is bad. Hope to see GTA SA, 4 , 5 , LCS, VCS, TLAD and TBOGT review
Let's hope the remaster is like a modern Vice City, with updated controls and accessibility. Although we still haven't seen any gameplay so who knows. If they put modern controls into the original games that would be good enough for me. Will do, I have plans to review them all this year and next.
@@TwinSticksReviews They released a trailer earlier today and in the official website they informed that they are adding GTAV-Like controls with a weapon wheel and everything. Although I guess we have to wait for fan made videos of gameplay to fully know whats changed or not. Looking forward to your next videos!! Trailer Link to anyone Interested (Rockstar official channel): ua-cam.com/video/D71cBUeAL58/v-deo.html
@@edsonfilho9429 I think the remasters sound promising. I'm not too sure on the visuals as it looks cartoony, especially the character models. And I'm not sure I'd pay full price for it, but we'll see. The GTA 3 remaster is coming to PS Now and SA to Game Pass so at least we can try them out before buying all 3. I am intrigued though.
The GTA 3 Video got recommended to me recently and now I see that you uploaded this a few days ago? Consider yourself subbed and blessed by the UA-cam algorithm
The vigilante missions are actually easier than in GTA 3 if you know how to do them. You should do them with the Hunter helicopter after the mission Cop Land and collecting all hidden packages.
On the vigilante missions: Vice City (and VCS) has a bit of an hidden way to make them easier, you can do vigilante missions on the police Cheetah which can be resprayed, not to mention its one of the fastest cars in the game.
A really usefull tip for vigilante mission in vice city - Use the FBI Cheeta Car, it is parked behind the police station in 2nd Island, next to the bridge to Starfish Island. FBI Cheeta Car can be resprayed, it makes all the missions very easy, don't wait for 3 stars respray at 2 stars.
Loved the analysis and review… I always made sure to replace my cop cars with one at the police station when I immediately went on to do the vigilante missions…as well as use the police bribes to prevent it from becoming impossible
The very first open world triple A game I played back in 2014 at the age of 12... Those were the best days of my life literally... I learnt all about Miami, pop music, strip clubs, Cubans, biker gangs, organised crime families, drug wars and all that stuff which are not normally known to kids and it felt like a completely new side of the world was open to me for exploring... Things that I was never aware of suddenly became known to me and it felt real and awesome.... And I still love watching stuff from 80s Miami such as Miami Vice and Scarface which inspired Gta vice city in the first place....
It was the summer of 2003, I was going into 4th grade and Spike TV had just launched with episodes of Baywatch and Miami Vice every morning. I went to a friends house in the neighborhood and he was running around listening to Flock of Seagulls driving near the beach. I was mind blown. Greatest video game soundtrack ever easily. Imagine if we had gotten this game in 2023? The immersion would have been insane.

I read this comment last night sat next to my gf and we both couldn't stop smiling. Thank you, that is a such a nice comment to read. Welcome on board and grettings from the UK. You guessed right from my accent!
I seem to recall GTA4 also having the npc car instant de-spawn effect whenever you looked in the opposite direction, but I haven't played it in a long time to be certain on that. It was more emersion breaking when the HD realistic world design was meant to take centre-stage. I personally don't mind it so much in the ps2 trilogy games since they didn't take themselves too seriously
Yeah I think it's more acceptable for the original trilogy as they were made on old technology. I'll look out for this when I review GTA 4, but I hope it isn't an issue, especially considering all of the realistic stuff
first thing you do in GTAIII is complete the paramedic and vigilante missions! I'm glad they never fixed the pause and unpause glitch in gta 3 vigilante missions where the criminals just get out of their car if you do this close enough to them! AWESOME review! subscribing rn. greetings from Rio, Brazil.
I remember when this came out, my brother rented it from blockbuster it was noon when we got back to his house, we put it in the ps2, played it, and before we knew it, it was midnight. This game was so good we lost track of time, whenever a game causes you to forget what time of the day it is you know it’s a good game. We loved gta3 and played it to death by this time but when this came out we were blown away. They took everything that worked for part 3 and just added on so much to it. This is hands down my favorite gta game of all time. The overall style of this game is excellent and to this day I believe it’s considered to have the best soundtrack out of any game that’s ever been released. This game will always hold a special place in my heart and I will never stop playing it here it is 21 years later and I still make it a point to play this game once a year. Excellent game very well done.
Vigilante missions (No tank or attack chopper): 1. Use the FBI Washington, found in a downtown alley near the pizza restaurant, so you can use the pay n spray to repair as needed. 2. Use the semi-auto sniper rifle from the downtown Ammu Nation. 3. Position yourself at a distance in front of your target vehicles, exit your vehicle, and rapidly fire at them with the sniper rifle to blow up the vehicles quickly with all the occupants still inside them. Get back in your vehicle before the time runs out. Potential issues: Though you can't access this weapon from the beginning of the game, this strategy did work very well without needing the tank or the attack chopper. You just need enough money to buy enough ammo for the sniper rifle.
GTA II was the first GTA I've ever played. I love GTA III, it's a whole new world. Storywise and features, GTA San Andreas is the king. But my favorite was and always is GTA Vice City.
I just wrote a comment on your GTA3 review about how crazy it was they got hollywood actors for a video game in 2001 and in this video you say that this is the first of their games to have hollywood actors. You gotta check the credits! The actors in gta3 were pretty well known but they were mostly mafia-movie actors. Kyle McLachlan is a pretty high profile actor, I'd say.
That's fair, I feel like there were more high profile actors here, like A-list Hollywood, especially at the time. Reading articles about it from 2002, it was a pretty big deal back then. I didn't see the same sort of coverage for GTA 3 during my research.
@@TwinSticksReviews Yeah VIce City was definitely more high profile actors, which I can see being more distracting as you point out. Especially Burt Reynolds. GTA3 just had great actors that weren't necessarily A-listers but just well chosen people great at their jobs, who specialized in mafia/organized crime roles. Anyways, great videos, can't wait for the San Andreas one!
GTA Vice City and GTA 3 were the first GTAs I played back in 2006. I still play them every once in a while along with GTA Online. Can't wait for GTA 6!!

I think San Andreas has more replay value, but Vice City has always been my favorite. A good full length playthrough once every other year, something like that, takes me back
I have been waiting for another review thanks man much appreciated. Can't wait for the Gta San Andreas review
No problem man. The SA review should be out by the end of the year.
Lowkey LC and VC stories needs to Steam already
GTA
Your level of story telling and editing is AMAZING, i hope your channel will grow into something big one day
I hope so. That's great to hear too. My writing has come on along way since my early vids haha
500 subscribers wtf
great video man, the game is sick, I’ve played it on PS3 and PS4, completed it only console but loved it. It was a bit challenging at first. Glad to have a copy of this game and love it to bits man
Great video and keep it up.
Thank you mate, that's great to hear. The SA review is currently underway :)
Thank you, that's very kind. Glad you enjoyed the vid.
Great series and really timely with the remaster coming out. Things are lining up bro.
Thank you! Yeah, it worked out quite well. I didn't realise the remasters were coming when I reviewed GTA 3, but it's a nice surprise. Cheers for watching too.
I wouldn't say having hollywood actors as a first is correct. GTA 3 had a whole range of top notch actors voicing characters
The Emotion 98.3 had me just goin for a drive to listen instead of finishing the story is unmatched
Wow this is an amazing review! And yes, Vice City is still great! Easily my favorite game of all time!
You have a documentary voice, subbed instantly because of it!
These are the best reviews I’ve ever seen for these old gta games! So happy to have discovered this channel and to be a subscriber keep up the awesome work!
Thank you!
Bout the broken raindrops. You play on 16bit resolution not 32 that was the mistakes. Thats why they is rough around the edges.
@@Puxi Ahh that makes sense, my mistake.
GTAIII is the best of ALL GTAs!
Appreciate the love for GTA 3. Liberty City is still an incredible open world.
Vice City is still great in 2021, but playing in stretched 4:3 and without any other fixes is not great in 2021😁
The OG unmodded version have widescreen so it doesnt look stretched on modern displays but it cuts out field of view.
I recently finished it again. I played the OG vanilla game in native 1080p widescreen mode on my 1050ti i5 8400 rig.
how tf do u not have 100k+ subs? Loved the video!
Its so great that i wear Leo Teals hat at every cookout.
Loved the analysis and review…
I always made sure to replace my cop cars with one at the police station when I immediately went on to do the vigilante missions…as well as use the police bribes to prevent it from becoming impossible
What a legend. U dropped exactly the video I was looking for haha
The structure and detail of this review is brilliant, I have now preordered the GTA trilogy to relive nostalgia.
Uh oh
So how did it go with the "definitive edition"
One of my favorite memories of Vice City is simply delivering pizzas while jamming out to the radio
If you keep up the great work this channel will take off!!
Thank you mate. I really hope it does
The very first open world triple A game I played back in 2014 at the age of 12...
Dude I discovered this channel a few days ago with his video of GTA III, and due to the incredible quality of his work I was shocked at the number of subscribers. This guy is set to be huge, I was happy to be subscriber 376 ^^. Keep up the good work man!! Looking forward for the videos of GTA San Andreas, Bully and others!! Cheers from Brazil!
Same here, just discovered his GTAIII video yesterday and subbed! From the States, well-wishes to you in Brazil as well as Twin Sticks where ever he's from (UK?).
@@Cincy32 well wishes for you as well!! I guess he is British, at least thats what we can suppose by the accent hehe
@@edsonfilho9429 Gave you a sub brother. Stay safe!
I read this comment last night sat next to my gf and we both couldn't stop smiling. Thank you, that is a such a nice comment to read. Welcome on board and grettings from the UK. You guessed right from my accent!
Keep grinding I can see this channel going places 💯💯
still my favourite gta of all time and probably always will be
Nicely done. The perfect summary for someone considering revisiting Vice City 🤟
This game blew my mind back in the day. I built my first PC to be able to play GTA3 but when Vice City came out I never went back to 3.
Definitely, trying to do them when the gangs turn hostile is impossible (especially in Portland). Cheers for the sub!
Vice City was my first game when I played it on iPhone and it just means so much to me as my introduction to the world of GTA
Great review as always!! Can't wait for your San Andreas review as it's my favourite GTA game.
Thanks for watching mate. SA should be ready sometime in Dec. It seems to be top on a lot of peoples GTA lists.
Rockstar didn't agree with using actors they didn't like the pushback or their egos
Even without a second thought, the answer is YES!!!!!
The best GTA of all time. GTA 3 might be the greatest of them because it ushered in a new era of open world games but Vice City is just a vibe.
Love the “Still Great” videos you are putting out I’ve subbed for more! 😁
Thanks, I've got a lot more planned. The GTA series and more after that.
@@TwinSticksReviews awesome 🤩
Hopefully the definitive edition fixes all the issues of these games. But I feel that they wont.
Raindrops have no alpha mask/transparency issues on my retro PC (P3, GeForce 4, Windows 2000). I think it's a modern OS, driver issue. Great video!
1 year and you will have +50k subs, mark my words
Vigilante missions (No tank or attack chopper):
Wait sorry you have how many subscribers!? You deserve WAAAY more!! Fantastic work!
Been enjoying your videos.
I wanna thank the UA-cam algorithm for helping me stumble upon this review 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
GTA II was the first GTA I've ever played. I love GTA III, it's a whole new world. Storywise and features, GTA San Andreas is the king. But my favorite was and always is GTA Vice City.
Man.. Saw you first time but felt like you were some professional or something. Keep it up! :D Gll reaching 1M subs
Great work ! I enjoyed your analysis you deserve more subs.
762 subs?? Dawg this video is amazing. Keep it up 👍🏿👍🏿
Love your videos man, keep it up!
In 2002 I was 6 years old.
My uncle would let me play, played it for years and years, game is a huge part of my life and psyche
The aesthetic of the game still holds up.. the game itself, not so much…
I just wrote a comment on your GTA3 review about how crazy it was they got hollywood actors for a video game in 2001 and in this video you say that this is the first of their games to have hollywood actors.
14:15 don't know why but this legit makes me laugh!!! "I'm a police officer please don't shoot meh!!"
Damn cant believe something that gave me so much joy and fun was made under a year
Just got you in recommended i thought you are like 5M subs channel by your content, keep it up !
Surprised that a certain famous 80s singer P.C wasn't mentioned to which I believe you do a few missions for and are awarded with a full live song ballad 🤗☺️
those issues you mention are fair, but you have to remember in 2002, this was a great game!! Even on PC, especially thanks for mods, I remember modding in NFS cars with real brands over the regular cars, so epic xD
Vice city is an epic game. I never realised at the time how many famous actors voiced characters in this game. Ray Liotta, Danny Trejo, Burt Reynolds, Lee Majors, Danny Dyer, Gary Busey, Dennis Hopper
When vice city came out my cousin wouldnt stop being hyped about it it was like his dream come true
In a way, I think the big name recognizable actors add to the 80's cheese that the games all about.
Loved the GTA 3 one, only watching a bit of this one to avoid spoilers til I play definitive edition. Can't wait for the San Andreas one!
Thank you it should be ready end of Nov.
