Like Jason Sears (RIP) from RKL said at a live show in 2000. "Hardcore didn't die it just got old and fat". Favorite part of my life was in the 80's Seemed like there was a punk rock show every weekend. Circle Jerks and Black flag were two of my favorites in the early 80's. It is kind of cool to see a lot of the old punk bands from the 80's playing shows again.
My punk rock mom used to bring me home Circle Jerks flyers when I was a kid in the 80's. Freakin legends! Gotta try those flat wounds and heavy triangle picks for sure. Back in the 90's I played bass in the North Carolina punk band "30 Deep". I used green Dunlop "shark tooth" picks, and round wound Roto-Sound strings that used to seriously shred my freakin' fingers. Used to have to wear a sports band on my right arm as we played soo fast I was burning a freakin' hole in my wrist. Back then I toured with a USA G&L P bass with a Peavey stack. Man a miss that rig. Rocking a bunch of Squires now as a punk rock dad straight into my DAW. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Awesome Rig Rundown!! Bravo!
Zander said you made him feel old no Zander we are old.I saw the Jerks every time they played around the east coast,I can honestly say they are one of the greatest live punk band ever. One of the most rare bands that some of their best albums were later albums like Wonderful is one of my favorite albums full stop. Not punk album just one of the best albums ever made in my opinion.
I would not go that far. The Sex Pistols, The Ramones...there's some real heavy hitters when you're talking the GOAT. But that being said, everyone's GOAT is as varied as one's favorite ice cream. You like what you like!
It does kind of bother me, because it feels like fawning over them. Let them be outrageous; be a f*&ing pro interviewer. John Bohlinger is just so much better.
I’m not a prude and yes, it’s punk rock, but I think his profanity is unprofessional in the context of an interview when the focus should be on the guest. It’s annoyingly distracting.
Lol holy shit, a few Mary's in here. I didn't even notice, I couldn't imagine being offended by a few sounds coming outta a fellow man's mouth. Grow a pair gents, its embarrassing.
I’ve been a fan of this band since I first heard them in 1985. I’ve disliked Perry since I first saw him interviewing someone on this channel… Part of the reason that i unsubscribed.
I'm glad I'm not alone in my discomfort with the needless cursing. I figured it might be. This is not a good look to have one of your hosts doing it. Perry doesn't typically do this and he's making you look bad here. I got about 4 minutes in and bagged it. Cursing just isn't my thing. See ya on the next one.

Descendents, Dead Kennedy’s and now Circle Jerks. You guys have been killing it this year guys!!!!!! Who’s next? Bad Brains maybe?🙏🏽🧐
Bro! Bad Brains would be amazing!
And The Weirdoes, Middle Class, The Dils, Redd Kross...
RIP Martin Golub. He made Marshall’s sound just that much cooler!
Have people been complaining that there are too many swears in the interview with The Circle Jerks? Really…then it was perfect! I salute you.
Wish Hetson's segment was a bit longer, but good to see him! Hopefully will catch a Circle Jerks show one of these days.
It was a pleasure speaking with Greg at a PRK show. I explained how his sound and playing has influenced my playing. Awesome Guy
Love how he swears more and talks totally different depending on the artist
Its pretty cringy. Like he's trying to impress the puNk rOcK guys!! So kewl!!
@@icepick859yeah its a bit much
I'd LOVE to see a segment on that absolutely historic black Strat he's mentioned! Wow such a great story👍
I was drooling over that guitar when I saw Roger Waters play it back in September! So cool to know the history of it now!
Please do a rig rundown with Ron Emory from TSOL
Def one of my favourite tones ever.

Is that the guy they called bomber?
@@nayr87 No. Bomber was the original drummer Jason was the singer. Bomber did sing later and play bass and guitar he was a great musician.
Circle jerks! One of the best punk rock bands to ever do it!
My punk rock mom used to bring me home Circle Jerks flyers when I was a kid in the 80's.
Freakin legends!

Awesome Rig Rundown!!
Bravo!
I saw the Circle Jerks twice last year and they kicked ass!!!
6:57 "Flatwounds don't break as much"....funny because at the CJ show last Friday in Berkeley CA, Zander actually did break a string!
Miss the Hetson jump at a BR show 😔 .. heck I still miss Bobby Schayer’s stick twirls. 80’s and 90’s BR was as good as punk rock gets
Holy crap, I just Roger Waters This is Not a Drill Tour a few weeks ago and that was the Strat he was playing?!?
Hetson's probably doing okay from all that Six Flags money
6 flags?
I met Zander years ago. A super kind gentle giant.
greatest rock n roll band of all time even chuck berry thought so

How have i not seen this yet? Zander's tone sounds just like he looks! 😂😂
Damn Perry. You're everywhere bud. I see you're reppin us 315 with the Manowar shirt.
Well, now we know what the 6 flags guy has been up to
J/k of course, Greg's a legend
Here for Hetson.
Same. This interviewer sacks.
The moment someone makes you feel old, you probably are
I LOVE YOU GREG HETSON! You're okay too, Perry... ༼ つ ◕_◕ ༽つ
YES!!!! Circle Jerks for life!!
Never knew about Elvis making the nacho bass picks!
Love his fuckin laugh…long live punk!!!genx forever!!
Jesus, take a breath man. 🍷
What kind of effects pedal does he use
I saw Roger Waters playing that black Strat he’s talking about back in September! So cool!
I feel like this is the age Zander Schloss was meant to be all along
Hey Greg. We need more hockey referees in Austin if you want to get back on your skates again. I had fun working games with you.
Not that it bothers me, but I notice Perry has the profanity dialed up to 11 because, after all, he's interviewing punk rock legends.
It does kind of bother me, because it feels like fawning over them. Let them be outrageous; be a f*&ing pro interviewer. John Bohlinger is just so much better.
I don't think it was necessary to be so profane, I think he was just showing off
It’s Punk rock guys come on.
I’m not a prude and yes, it’s punk rock, but I think his profanity is unprofessional in the context of an interview when the focus should be on the guest. It’s annoyingly distracting.

Id swim the ocean in a suit of lead
I'm surprised someone would choose such a flat and plucky bass tone for a punk band, but hey its a unique sound and it seems to work for them
the RigRunner dude tooks one too many Adderall for Greg's interrogation , yet it all comes together on its own as nature often allows.... 😺
Hetson is the biggest badass ever
The way this dude says fucking so much just irritates me 😭 like he’s a middle schooler just starting to swear to sound cool
I agree with all the F bombs. My mouth is as bad as anyone's, but that just sounds like he's trying too hard to be cool.
John Frusciante of Red hot chili peppers soon pls! )
Yeeeees
Only if John does some talking in it.
Do Ron Emory of T.S.O.L !!
Interviewer is a stooge!
I thought my UA-cam audio speed was on 1.5!
CJ 🤘
EPIC COOL TOP EXCELLENT
:)
So happy I was comment 666!!!
Glad I unsubscribed from the magazine and channel, you can do better PG
TLDR: P-Bass into Ampeg. SG into Marshall. Done.
Perry is so annoying
Shortest RR ever... Killer guitar. Killer amp. Done. LOL
Just don’t try to feed Greg pizza every night. That shit will end badly
I’ve been a fan of this band since I first heard them in 1985.

Great story man. Thanks for sharing.
What’s with all the profanity?
Dude ...,!?
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
This band is called the circle jerks
Stop with the F bombs already

God you boomers are something else. Don't want cursing? Watch the news, talk to your grandma. The internet doesn't owe you anything
@@ileutur6863 I'm not a boomer. Bad guess. P.S.: As I said, I stopped watching so I moved on. You should too.
