- Lead vocalist Keith Morris was an original member of Black Flag, co founding the band with guitarist Greg Ginn and recording the Nervous Breakdown EP with them before suddenly departing the group in December 1979. Morris formed Circle Jerks as the Bedwetters, along with guitarist Greg Hetson, bassist Roger Rogerson and drummer Lucky Lehrer, Lehrer did not like the name the Bedwetters, so Morris looked through a dictionary of slang words and renamed the band the Circle Jerks. The band's first recordings took place in spring 1980, including the original version of Wild in the Streets which appeared on Posh Boy's first Rodney on the ROQ compilation. In July of that year, the band recorded their debut studio album Group Sex, which was released in October 1980 on the Frontier Records label, its 14 songs totaled just 15 minutes, The album featured several songs that Morris had written while in Black Flag. That same year the group was one of several California punk bands to be immortalized in the Penelope Spheeris documentary The Decline of Western Civilization, live versions of five songs from Group Sex appeared on the movie's soundtrack. In late 1980 the group signed with IRS Records subsidiary Faulty Products and recorded their second album Wild in the Streets released in 1982, The title track was a cover version of a song by Garland Jeffrey, Faulty Products ceased operations several months after its release, forcing Circle Jerks to seek their third record deal in as many years. While they regained the copyright to Wild in the Streets, the original stereo master tape was lost, forcing the band to remix it from the multi track tapes when they reissued the album in 1988.

Saw them twice in the 80's when Earl Liberty was playing bass for them. 2 great shows!
First heard about them in 9th grade, which for me was 1986.
That Group Sex LP is one of the all time great hardcore albums.

I got to see Circle Jerks last September that epik tour with 7 Seconds and Negative Approach all the bands killed it, shame I couldn’t meet Keith Morris or Greg Hetson and get my copies of Wild In The Streets and Group Sex signed as well as Kevin Seconds and the rest of the 7 Seconds guys to sign my copy of The Crew it looked like they wanted to meet no one though, oh well but amazing show they played more material off of Wild In The Streets my favorite album for the tour was suppose to be in 2020 and 40th Anniversary of Group Sex but now 2022 and its 40th Anniversary of Wild In The Streets so that was a plus for me and they still played Group Sex songs along with other stuff from their discography easily one of the top 2 best shows I went to last yr it was my first time seeing Circle Jerks and 7 Seconds loved em both just wished they didn’t act like rockstars and met fans. It was funny cause I saw another Tour around couple months after that came to my town Houston early November with Black Flag(aka a cover band at this point even with Greg Ginn), The Dickies, TSOL and Total Chaos and obviously The Dickies and TSOL were the bands of the nite, but Black Flag did kick off their set with Keith Morris songs my favorite era of Black Flag followed by Ron Reyes era and all the Henry Rollins songs but seriously if that current Black Flag whether they had Keith Morris(though he must be tired after his recent Circle Jerks tour to do a Black Flag tour 😂), Henry Rollins or Ron Reyes then Black Flag would be indeed the riteful commanding headlining leader over The Dickies and TSOL not to mention a bigger venue but as it stands both bands stole the nite. Overall Wild In The Streets is my favorite Circle Jerks album and my favorite Blaxk Flag era is Keith Morris founding yrs though not far off from Henry Rollins era.

Yup, this video sucks. I’ve heard that he was a server/coffee filler-upper at Millie’s diner in Silverlake for a time though.

He also worked at the counter of Go Boy Records in Redondo Beach, CA.
Only very basic info in this video and the moderation sounds like it was done by a tex-to-speech algorithm. Whole video feels like it's just a vehicle for UA-cam ads.
