You're definitely going to need LALALAI when you (finally 😁) get around to listening to
Fishbone - Bonin in the Boneyard (ska)
      And
Rollins Band - Grip (jazz musicians playing hardcore)
      Fun points...
Bonin' in the boneyard- I anticipate the use of the phrase "root note" 😆
Grip - Im not sure if the bassline is repeated. Anywhere outside of the chorus🤣

What you meant to say and what too many people mean to say when they say something is “easy” they mean to say “it’s easy for me”. And that’s awesome! I’m glad it’s easy for some people.

I love that you chose face to face. They are my favorite band hands down. I really hope that you take the time to check out their entire catalog. I really think that you’re going to be a fan of their what I now consider their best writing “ignorance is bliss” I can admit sadly like a lot of their fans at the time that when it was released I felt betrayed and very upset. Why would my favorite band, a punk rock band, release an album like that? They gave us “don’t turn away” then “big choice” and then the self titled album!! When that self titled album came out it was like finally my favorite band has a great sounding album!!! Then after 3 years of live albums and various releases here comes the next record!!! NOFX, Lagwagon, No Use For a Name and the others all gave us pretty solid records during the tail end of the 90’s and now it’s time for face to face to show them up!!! NOPE!! IIB is NOT what you expected at all. I didn’t want anything to do with that record in 1999.
Fast forward five years and I gave it a second chance. It’s not only one of my favorite face to face records but one of my top 5 records of all time. The production is really really good but the fucking song writing on that bitch!! I was 19/20 when it was originally released not to mention playing in my own face to face inspired punk band at the time. Most likely the two main reasons I reacted the way I did upon its release. Then having matured quite a bit in those previously mentioned five years allowed me to approach that record not as a f2f fan but as a fan of Trever, Scott, Pete and Chad. That record really showed me why f2f is my favorite band. It’s Trever’s voice, Scott bass playing, the guitar tones. In all the previous records those things were there just smashed together at 180bpm in 3mins or less. Ignorance broke that wide open and allowed all those things that made f2f different from all their punk rock brethren to breathe.
That being said I’m glad they’re still putting out that smashed together 180bmp in 3min or less f2f punk rock that we’ve all stuck around for all these years. They just do it really well. They got a formula and a sound that works. Much like Social Distortion, NOFX and Bad Religion. When you hit play on any of their “punk rock” records, you automatically know it’s them within the first few bars.

Scott shiflett's playing is so unique, I'm mainly a guitarist and I lifted so many of his bass riffs and tried to write songs based off of the stuff he'd do on bass. These skate punk bassists influenced and shaped me as a guitarist. I'd listen to these albums and play along on my cheap squire for hours upon hours and got good by doing just that.. and by playing along with the bass parts as well, a lot of frustrated restarts, but so worth it in the end with everything I learned.

I was thinking to myself, "If The Horse doesn't make the list, this video is gonna lose all credibility". 😂 Honestly, you could have picked several AWS songs for the top 5 and it would be hard to argue with it.

@@corvus5782 yeah, I was kinda at a loss to pick one, tbh. Wiggly Worm, Paradise, This Story Must Be Told, Big Dick...just a few of the many, MANY crazy great bass lines, made only better by John's insane drumming

I played bass for a rancid tribute set a couple years ago. Definitely simplified my version of maxwell murder. However, I wish I had this video to learn from. Your great video and sound quality is perfect to learn from. Hope others can utilize it for that reason

After this one, as a lost Punk Rock Head myself, you deserves a subscription!.. DONE!.. dude. 🤝 Next from NOFX i suggest Stickin in My Eyes and The Idiots are taking over, than i suggest you a couple of punk bands you probably never checked 1) Lagwagon , song CHOKE, second No Use For A Name - Friends of the Enemy or I Want to be Wrong. I am adding also AFI with Miss Murder song for example. Than Sick Of It All band , song District . Thank you !..

Watching an interview with Joey Ramone years ago, they asked him why his songs were so short.... he said, "our songs are just as long as everyone else's, we just get to the end faster."

My best friend in high school, his name was Luke, he could play Maxwell murder on bass at 15.
I watched him play DragonForce guitar parts on a bass using slap and tapping/finger picking.
The dude went to uni for music and ended up working in England on his double bass.
For reference, we went to school in New Zealand.
Haven't spoken to him for many years but I am still immensely proud of where he is today

I highly recommend checking out 'THE PRESS CORPSE' by 'ANTI FLAG'. In my opinion one of the best examples of bass playing in all of punkrock. You won't regret. If you think it's worth it, i'm looking forward to see you analysing it in the future maybe.
Great to see people exploring and appreciating good ol punkrock stuff.
Keep up your great work mate!
