From what I’m seeing on the track is less than impressive performance, and yet the track is the only thing this car is meant for.
@@johntechwriter You don't think the car is impressive on the track? It seemed very capable to me. Mugen products have never been value for money, but they do spend on the R&D. Copy cats often come along and make cut-priced copies of their parts, so Mugen parts must be somewhat well-engineered... For example, the Mugen DC5 intake I had, had the smooth mould side on the inside of the airbox. While you'd think it's obvious that the smooth side should be on the inside (like a Grand Prix car intake tract for instance), the Gruppe M DC5 intake I had begged to differ -- that one had the smooth side on the outside and the coarse side of the FRP on the inside! [I didn't spend thousands on either though, they were both used.]
@@johntechwriter I've know about King Motorsports since literally the late 80's when the shop I worked for was getting Mugen suspension bits for the first generation CRX Si they used for autocross/track events. Personally I keep all my motors stock (Californian) and get silly with suspension and brakes, so expensive exhausts from any manufacture never enter into my tuning equation. Cheers.
Looks so much better then the standard type r. This should have been how the original came from the factory. 18” wheels will make it torque steer, the reason for those giant 20” was to eliminate the toque steer. 18” looks way better though.

I don’t think the changing of the springs is a good idea especially with the suspension programming that comes with the Type-R. Oh…and those bronze 18” MUGEN’s are gorgeous.
Spoon has always been a favorite of mine as far as both appearance and performance. I feel Mugen focuses way more on appearance and it's just overboard. The FK8 is overboard on it's stock form already.
I love the spoon parts as well, I only have their springs and rigid collars so far. Spoon lowering springs would have been better for this car. I have spoon springs on my Type R and they. I think they improve performance without a punishing ride quality because the spring rate is not all that high. Of course they won't put Spoon springs on a Mugen car though LOL.
As some others have already said, by leaning even heavier into the aggressive design i actually like this more than the standard Type R as far as looks are concerned
Might as well go all in. The front fascia is a nice improvement with the partly blanked out (whited out?) fake vents and the lip (though it would be scraped up in no time). The decals are fine on a car of this sort, and the car looks like what it is.

The mugen exhaust doesn’t come with that metal filter thing.. why is that? Where can you obtain one
Holy shit that powerband is fantastic. Having essentially peak HP from roughly 2500rpm-7000rpm is fucking impressive
So you don't know how to read a graph I guess... 120hp at 2,500rpm is not essentially peak power dumb ass.

I can't read 😎
I remember articles featuring King motorsports back from the sport compact car magazine days. They had a 4cyl cr-v build with intake, cams, header, etc and of course SCC had the comparison dynos vs stock.
That was from 1999. I have that magazine.
Would be awesome to see the same style video with a Spoon Type R
The sound track in the beginning makes me feel like I’m playing the early Gran Turismo lol
Beautifull parts!! i always love mugen since i was a kid, but their parts are crazy expensive. maybe one day i can have them all in my FK8.
It's different and definitely not trying to be like what the competitors are throwing out, so it deserves some respect.
Was great to hear from a Scott on this Channel lol😭😭🤣😂🐌
Mark’s pronunciation of “Mugen” effin’ kills me brah
That feeling when non-Japanese speakers pronounce it "mule-jen"...
@@scorpioassmodeusgtx1811 except... they're not...
無限だよ。
Kind of mind blowing that the OWNER OF KING MOTORSPORT also mispronounces it. It's MOO-Gen
@@mijnnaamisaaron Scott pronounced it MOO. Overall he may have not sounded Japanese, but he didn't make that error. Mark did once, but I have a feeling they left that in as an insider bit of humor
I almost cried in the last 30 seconds of the video, man he hits hard
Muguen has a great history in Formula 1.😎
Please stop spreading misinformation. Mugen has a forgettable history in Formula 1.
@@shrimpboychan Sources???
@@6lemans10 Google it. Mugen has 0 fastest laps in Formula 1. How can Mugen F1 history be described as great when they've won 0 championships, have 0 fastest laps, and have left 0 mark on today's sport? 0. Mark. Nothing Mugen developed is in use at today's motor racing pinnacle.
Love what they did with the front fake vents
I don’t think the changing of the springs is a good idea especially with the suspension programming that comes with the Type-R. Oh…and those bronze 18” MUGEN’s are gorgeous.
That's the most beautiful Honda exhaust I've seen
Spoon has always been a favorite of mine as far as both appearance and performance. I feel Mugen focuses way more on appearance and it's just overboard. The FK8 is overboard on it's stock form already.
I love the spoon parts as well, I only have their springs and rigid collars so far. Spoon lowering springs would have been better for this car. I have spoon springs on my Type R and they. I think they improve performance without a punishing ride quality because the spring rate is not all that high. Of course they won't put Spoon springs on a Mugen car though LOL.
I have Spoon springs and dampers on my ITR and I love them as a street and track compromise.
At least the mugen lip and side skirts tone down the overboardness. I wonder if spoon also have the wind tunnels that mugen has access to
I saw this car and the LE fk8 in Voló/Lakemoor a couple weeks ago
Easy like. Awesome video fellas.
WE GET IT BRO, YOU LIKE THE TYPE R, DANG.
Great video guys!
The decals are fine on a car of this sort, and the car looks like what it is.
i liked this video in the opening fade from black
Very good video.
I have a 2008 Mugen Si Civic. Curious to see how the future looks back on it. It fits right into an Era where it's still analog but also has tremendous tunability.
I would love to see a comparison between a FA5 with a built K24 vs a stock FK8.
It was awesome to see that car in action but I was nervous at the same time 😅
Love the Gran Turismo menu music. Much nostalgia.
