I grew up as a V8/muscle car enjoyer. Every car I've owned has been a rwd v8 platform. All of my initial car scene buddies were almost all Honda kids and I grew a weird resentment to how they treated "outsiders". I let that bias make me ignorant to the insanely cool history of Honda, Spoon, Mugen, the Integra, Civic, CRX, NSX, Prelude and so forth. I have grown to absolutely adore the hot rodding nature of taking like a B20 and putting a B16V head on it with a GSR transmission. Japanese guys were just hot rodders of their own country and I failed to see that. (Bad representation from "friends" of how Honda actually was.) Now I can't get enough of the lore. Would love a 8th gen Mugen Civic Si or a Integra with some Mugen/Spoon parts thrown at it. Stuffs just cool man. Glad I was able to see that finally.

King Motorsports here in Wisconsin was the sole North American distributer of Mugen parts when I first visited their shop in 1998. In the parking lot was an Acura NSX with California plates. Yes California guys with NSX's drove their cars to Wisconsin to have them worked on by the best Honda mechanics outside of Japan. King Motorsports build my '01 spec B18C5 w/ Mugen Gymkahna spec manifold in 2004.

I've had a lot of dirt bikes but my favorite is a 1989 CR250R, had an 87 CR500, wasn't powerful enough to justify to the extra weight. The 89 is just a dream and an animal to ride. I've rebuilt the entire thing from the ground up, basically a factory works bike, even down to titanium fasteners
Just to make it clear, the Samurai is the same car as the Suzuki Jimny! But it is what it was called this way in some markets (usually across the America). Hoping for an Up to speed on that also, the Samurai/Jimny it's a 40+ year little car, it's got some story to tell.

No you just only see the oil caps and shift knobs because most american honda owners are too broke and stupid to get actual mugen performance parts. You can look on the mugen website and buy exhaust kits, brake rotors, brake pads, wheels, and all kinds of other performance shit for the current lineup of honda cars

People buy mugen parts just for the bragging rights. Their performance parts are necessarily the best either, there are great company's that sell quality Honda parts like k-tuned, skunk2racing, hybrid racing etc.

But they aren't able to release a full catalog of parts as soon as a car is released like Mugen can. Mugen will always be able to make performance parts for the newest cars faster than other companies because they have insider information from Honda. This is why Mugen only makes parts for the current generation of cars, and doesn't support the older ones.

The Mugen Legend Max was my favorite. Closet thing we've gotten to a road going V8 Honda.
