I remember back in 1987, my friend had the Golden arrow, and I had the red arrow (same car basically), and we thought they were wicked fast. Today, i picked up this xrt, and it is absolutely amazing how violent this thing is. Brushless power, coupled with lithium batteries, has really changed the game. The size, and power of this rc is impressive for sure. Yea.... its expensive, but it is worth it imo.

Nice review. Now lets see it with the X-Maxx tires on! 😁 Would like to see it easily do flips in the air btw - hmmm? I also see the posts at the front to mount accessories (i.e., LED Light Kit module, etc.) so maybe I'll wait to see if Traxxas later includes the light kit with it. 🤩

I was just watching this thinking about getting my boy one he's 16. It's amazing how far this has came since the 90s. Lol insane how many folks have better rc than their daily driver to work haha
Christmas I was supposed to get some long tube headers & rear seat delete kit for my 12 Mustang. Now I'm almost positive mustang will stay the same and I will have my dream big scale truggy

Looks like it floats through the air. I was impressed how controlled it seemed while jumping, considering the power this thing has.
The throttle profile is on point making it super easy to control. The suspension is pretty dialed too for a stock out of the box setup.
@@rcdriver I've mostly stuck to 1:10 and 1:8 scale this may be the one that converts me to large scale.

Yea, agree 110% that the XRT & the Sledge are killer for carving through sweeping turns,as well as negotiating tight inside turns. Also awesome for lower altitude jumps, like the Greg did here. Nice mello transition jumps and flying long distance with smooth landings on the other end. It will launch like a rocket, but the chassis slap makes you cringe. For big air, go with or stick to your X-MAXX. I f you already have a Sledge I would say, your all set and made a good choice. If you just MUST have the XRT for it’s size, your definitely not going to be disappointed. The Sledge is the ticket for a kick azz truggy, it’s fasst and even more nimble than the XRT, plus it keeps some cash in the bank.I have all three and still ..if I had to pick just one, it would have to be the X-MAXX. Yeah buddy! It was at the end of those packs too. But the air time was intense!
If I could add two things, would be a mesh vent on the ram air hood intake and roof, so rocks dont fly in and grass and stuff. Also I would have made the side fins on the wing adjustable 3 piece. Would have been nice to be able to change your spoiler aero depending on your situation.
Neat ideas. Maybe we’ll see aftermarket companies come out with screens. There are some fins in the hood vent to help capture larger debris.

Performance of a Kraton 8s and durability of an xmaxx. I will be buying this for sure. I'm sure the powder metal gears will need to be upgraded and the esc. I over upgrade all my rc cars. Part of the fun for me.

The Sledge X, I’m gonna wait on this one, looks great but their servos suck, the Spurs and pinions are junk, esc known to fail, I’d buy a roller but this thing will cost another thousand to keep it on the road
Looks like you're having to knock back the revs a bit mid-flight to prevent it kicking up. Though well stable 👍🏻

Looks good. This is more of what I wanted 4 years ago when I bought an x-maxx. Would of kept the thing if they just had a lcg chassis. After racing for years, I just wanted a big truck that actually handled decent.
With that said, I think they sent the truck to the wrong address Greg. :)

Change servo and esc and this really could be a nice truck.
The tires still balloon up at speed. If that bothered you on the old XMAXX, it'll bother you on this one, too. I actually like the ballooning. Provides more cushion on landings at high speed. Great vehicle.
Thing is so sweet looking. I want the black edition. Looks like I'm going to have to take out a loan in the future. 🤪

This might be my first traxxas. I would like to have another 1/5thish scale an not worry about the chassis bending like I do with my 12s K8 exb.

This is an amazing rc. I think Traxxas took their time to release something like this and it’s going to pay off. I also hate to say it as I’m a fan of many brands but this actually looks like it will be the Kraton 8S killer. It’s refined. I want one. Lol
Yup, it does seem like they took their time. I like the cross compatibility of this truck. Just enough so parts support should be easy, but new enough overall design to grab interest.

Should give u the performance of the Kraton or EXB and the durability from the X-Maxx. Just the way they build the suspension bridge is amazing just like on the X-Maxx.
I had a XMAXX 3 years ago and I trashed it and just gave up on it and sold it broken. This mine get me back into big scale off road RC. I'm mostly a on road guy I have 2 limitless street bash castle and TP motor run and the 7 scale hobao on road TP powered.

Looks awesome. Probably out of my price range right now. Not a Traxxas guy, but I wish they would make a High speed roller to compete with the Arrma Limitless. I think competition in that field would be exciting.

@Kyron Smarcaro ehh. But do they though? Nobody cares about that car. It's too expensive for what little it's capable of. It handles like shit, breaks like glass, overheats too often, prohibitively expensive to fix (for most people) has no real customization abilities (I mean REAL customization, not "I added cool wheels") etc. The xo-1 is useless outside of bragging you payed a grand for someone else to build you a 100mph rc car lol.
Then the 4tec line....that's useless too. Too small/short for any real competitive speed runs, doesn't handle well enough for real racing, again very limited customization (suspension positioning, triangulation, caster/camber, way too limited in gearing choices etc)
Traxxas is for beginners and people who don't care about real performance. Traxxas is the Iphone of the RC world. Overpriced, pretty and basic with very little functionality but such a market presence they capture an audience still 🤷♂️

Pretty cool looking truck, too large scale for where I have to run plus storage area for my vehicles. I'd love to see Traxxas make some 1/14 or 1/18 scale monster truck/truggy bash vehicles of the same quality as this truck.
