Picked up a Protek 1KTBL Servo during Amain’s sale late last year. If I had to choose only one upgrade to my Xmaxx for the life of the truck, it would be the servo.
To clarify, there is a hobby shop, AAA Hobbies, that sells traxxas vehicles and parts, but apparently they’re not an “official” traxxas dealer. They are not listed in their web site as one or shown on their map locator. I don’t understand the difference of a shop that can sell traxxas versus one that is official dealer.
Bought the metal gear upgrade and servo saver upgrade and have been reasonably happy with the steering. Quicker, much more responsive and more steering torque at the tire. I upgraded that the second time out with it and it makes a big difference. I think people under estimate this mod because its still technically the same "slow" servo. But the saver is the hero here!
I think other UA-camrs agree with you on some of the XRT issues. I think the wing brace will continue to break until there is another design. I watched one video where the host tested a 3D printed version and it cracked. This truck is basically a 5th scale truck and needs a 5th scale servo. For the price it should have a 5th scale servo in my opinion. The videos I watched were very impressive. The truck jumps great and lands beautifully.
Agree on the servo I shouldn't have to spend another almost 200 bucks on a protek 1k traxxas makes shit electronics but the cars are stout my xmax haven't had anything break except the shitty 2085x servo just died full speed lost steering.

Love the truck also. I had an issue with wobbly wheels too. The rims seem to bend and flex quite a bit. Under normal use. I ended up getting the six pack tires. They are holding up so far.
I've had my XRT for about 2 months now. I've not broken the rear wing mount, despite several hard landings on it (which did crumple the body a bit). I've bent one of the front driveshafts as I learn how to land this thing from modest jumps. In the meantime, I changed out the stock oil and put 60 in the rear and 50 in the front (and the stock oil was terribly dirty). I also changed out the servo to a Savöx (mainly because the perfect pass one that many seem to love is out of stock..) and coupled that to a HotRacing standard servo horn (non Traxxas servos will not fit Traxxas servo horns without an adapter). I recently also changed out the servo saver spring and inspected the bell crank. That is still ok, but when it breaks, I'll install the upgrade from M2C. All of that has made the steering quite a bit more responsive (though I haven't since taken it out on a track to see how it turns... as stock, it does 'push' quite a bit, so you have to do a Scandi flick on every turn. Hopefully, it will all mean that the steering is leveled up... ). I've also put in a hardened steel 17T pinion (because I changed the tires out to a slightly larger size) and haven't had any issues (yet) with the gearing. That did require the removal of the spacer that came with the stock pinion to get the mesh to work right. Finally, I've put in the Traxxas light kit, just because I think it looks cool, and put high velocity fans in place of the Traxxas ones on the ESC and motor. Those will get changed only when they die.
I think by "pushes" you mean understeer. The xrt understeer is way to excessive. Try stiffer rear shocks, more toe out and negative camber. Would be interesting to see a comparison of before and after setup changes.
Pushing is traxxas stability (tsm) so it doesnt rolls over my guy say it how it is, wing mount it is what it is traxxas made it like that idk, it serves its purpose make the weak link the cheapest possible i think its ok its great by design, but then again the k8s doesnt break, just saying, bout the servo i one hundred percent agree with you, idk why traxxas pulls the apple designing queues here. It is definitely a nice truggy i admit 🔥

Best advice I can give is facebook marketplace you find all kinds of people who spend to much money on these rigs to post they don't got time to play with it or only ran once. thats when you swoop in and lowball em. I picked up a basicly new x maxx with 2 6700 traxxas batteries the max duel charger and a bag of parts guy wanted 1500 I told that fool ill give you 900 he took it.
You should check out the new servo made for the xmaxx xrt, kevin talbot has one on his channel. Apparently its better\more oowerful\faster than the perfect pass servo

Having had several Traxxas trucks, replacing stock with aftermarket was a doubled edged sword, depending on the part, because the strengthened part can just transfer the forces to the next part it’s attached too, like instead of the control arm breaking, an aluminum one then just breaks the bulkhead.
Where is this Traxxas store located?? Also the XRT is a beast and pretty durable from some of the crashes I had. You aren’t lying about the size and trying to store it. It takes up my entire trunk in my SUV. Lol
The XRT is definitely an impressive rig and I applaud Traxxas for releasing another monster rig! But you're right a rig of that size has its weak spots, and is a pain to store and work on if you're limited on room. Trust me I feel that one every time I work on mine.😅

I took my XRT and tore it apart for a project in the snow covered winter here , just for fun I put a hobbywing set up in it ,found a motor that would fit with M2C mount ,haven't even run it yet , great to see you running it , I can't wait for the big thaw here , thanks again !
My wheel broke at the hex as well. Seems like a weak point Traxxas should fix for their customers. It’s happening for lots of people just like the wing mount.

I didn't hear anything about the Xrt before release and bought an Xmaxx 2 weeks before. I love the Xmaxx but probably would have gone with the Xrt if I knew it was coming. Xmaxx is my first Traxxas since the slash 11 years ago and Traxxas has came a long way

I know the feeling. Granted I do have a warehouse that sells online mostly with extremely limited store front. Traxxas is only available to me online and besides the TRX4M I don't want to order something I haven't seen in person.

Have you ever had the Typhon TLR Tuned RC car? I have Traxxas vehicles but that Tuned TLR is 💯 AMAZING! OMG it is fast and just solid all around top of the line parts on that car. You should try it and do a video on it.
Mark m2c has a steering bell crank made of 7075 for the Xrt which I think will help with the steering I see alot of BASHERS breaking this from pushing it to hard an not being strong enough they’re still testing it as far as I know but might be worth checking out an I’ve been seeing that wing mount break just landing big jumps I’d say poor design
I have the 'XRT Roll Bar Sign' in black/Red lettering from GarageLiferc 💪. I worked with them on the make of it 👀and its Phat Azz, Yo Chief it came out great it's a #1 stunner😱 Also have the G-liferc's body wing mount too!
The issues that plague the XRT aren't really a surprise as the same issues are present in the XMAXX. I give props to Traxxas for essentially supersizing the sledge, because it's shown to be an amazing platform. However, when you make something bigger you'll always have problems. That being said, with the right upgrades a lot of, if not all of these issues can be resolved. The rest of these issues just come to things will break when you bash.

I have the xrt ultimate witch has belted tyres as you know. My question is I can't get it to go up on its back wheals so would you gear it up as its completely stock at the moment. It just doesn't seem to have the power to backflip either.
Sorry bro but that steering under rotation is your driving, before i has a more responsive ESC I could still hit a corner and hit the brake in such a way i could slide the vehicle round and accelerate out way quicker then you were tuning those corners, if the track has too much grip then ill just say you dont know how to set up your suspension either, 😏 Honesty I dont know how much of my knowledge comes from my carrier as a mototrsports engineer but it all seems really obvious to me, I still watch and enjoy your videos tho dont I dont take this as hate I got love just a competitive nature i spose, stay safe and keep having fun bro... 👍👌👍

They make a heavy duty servo spring TRA7746X that helps a lot with the steering. You can also add shims to the servo spring to stiffen it up.

I believe there are 3d printed TPU wing mounts that are almost indestructible.

I have bought a 3D printed wing mount off of eBay it's a different shape like a number 8 and it's made of a rubbery flexible plastic not broke it yet

Has anyone had issues with stripping diff gears? I have shimmed mine and top them off with oil since they were dry when I got my truck.

Mark all you need is a garage life rc wing mount. They hold up to all the abuse and are under $20 shipped.
Why would you re-buy a weak part known for its easy breakage? Rewarding traxxas for bad design.

I think if you were to do a couple upgrades you can get rid of a lot of those problems

At a guess, the weak wingmount is probably a break point to stop breakage elsewhere. Maybe they could make it out of rubber or something.

The wing need mount needs to be solid. I have a 3-D printed piece that goes into the opening of the oval to make that solid.
Rc guy garage had a prototype wing mount he created that might be more resistant to damage
Couldn't you fix the pushing a bit, by increasing the weight of the fluid?
Fill the wing mount with silicone tape on the bottom fill it let it dry 💪🏻💪🏻

Traxxas in America won't sell me anything. Australian suppliers don't have enough parts and prices are high. I'm ordering a sledge in a few weeks.

I have the xrt ultimate witch has belted tyres as you know. My question is I can't get it to go up on its back wheals so would you gear it up as its completely stock at the moment. It just doesn't seem to have the power to backflip either.
Sorry bro but that steering under rotation is your driving, before i has a more responsive ESC I could still hit a corner and hit the brake in such a way i could slide the vehicle round and accelerate out way quicker then you were tuning those corners, if the track has too much grip then ill just say you dont know how to set up your suspension either, 😏 Honesty I dont know how much of my knowledge comes from my carrier as a mototrsports engineer but it all seems really obvious to me, I still watch and enjoy your videos tho dont I dont take this as hate I got love just a competitive nature i spose, stay safe and keep having fun bro... 👍👌👍
Traxxas employees are like is he really out front of our store talking smack about the XRT? ahahahaha. Just my opinion but the XRT is a turd. Lots of love for Traxxas but the XRT seems like a failure to me. Anyways love the videos and the honest opinion as always.
