Thank you! Great review. Been watching all your Traxxas videos ... and now I know which one to get. First on the list at my local hobby store for a Sledge!
It's interesting how non of the reviewers sent the Sledge have talked about the Arrma Kraton, and mostly have an emphasis on fun. How much did Traxxas pay for reviewers to say that?
It’s pretty simple actually. This is a standalone review of the Sledge. No where in the title, thumbnail, video description or intro does this say it is a “comparison” video or a “versus” video. In my 30 years doing this I’ve never done a comparison in a first launch product video. It’s always done separately. See simple.
@@rcdriver it's on literally everyone's mind though. All of the reviews I've seen so far have been the same, so Traxxas must be asking you to say exactly what they want you to say. Love watching this and reading comments 2 years later. I betcha there's some different feelings now. Traxxas definitely missed the mark on that "not having to replace parts, sure it's gonna last, one tough truck" about the Sledge.
I think its incredibly overpriced for a Kraton 6s clone. Perhaps Traxxas goal was to aim for a direct comparison to the Kraton 6s EXB? Would have been more interesting if they would have had the same Kraton design but go with the plastic route like the XMaxx to keep the weight down and keep the durability high.
Beileive or not traxxas with plastic still as heavy or even heavier. This rc better for people who don't wrench and tune and still want do big sends kratons a machine need be tended too sledge will have anyone in the game

It looks like it needs a front bumper! Hopefully RPM can design one as good as the one they make for Arrmas 1/8 trucks. Just from this video it looks like a refined and improved version of the Kraton. Seems the chassis layout will make it easier to work on and maintain. Let's see how it does on people's hands over the next few months.

It looks great, but at $800, honestly, you're better of with an Arrma Kraton 6S or Talion 6S @ $599. Cheaper & you get aluminum towers & adjustable links. I have had both several Traxxas vehicles and several Armma vehicles. After owning Arrma vehicles, I never went back to Traxxas. My Arrma Typhon 6S received SOO much abuse between bashing & speedruns for 1.5yrs. I recently rebuilt it as I stretched it out for a custom speedrun setup. During the rebuild, I found VERY little parts that actually were worn or damaged. A few bearings, 2 hinge pins & a main input gear that was worn. Not bad for 1.5yr of hard abuse. I did replace 2 shock towers b4 this rebuild due to high speed crashes & 1 wing after countless cartwheels lol. But that's about it!. Love it when the chassis is aluminum. Buying a truck and not having to worry about upgrading parts is nice 👍
Curious if this thing will end up replacing the E Revo on the lineup since they're pretty much occupying the same space.
Also a rival to the Kraton my opinion.
nothing can replace the e-revo!
@@toolbaggers my comment says e-revo?
Awesome review/walkthrough. WOW this thing is engineered to take a beating!! Some brilliant ideas and solid designs to help this thing take some real punishment. Love how the gears are what look to be overkill.
Think this will be the next King of the Bashers. Wonderful product from Traxxas. Well done..
It's crazy how much this looks like a Kraton !
Exactly what i thought when i saw it
My thoughts exactly! Especially for a company that's ready to sue anyone for copying them, they don't mind copying others. 🤔
Definitely aimed to be a copy of the Arrma and Team Corally vehicles. It's funny that Traxxas would copy designs, they really should be being original considering they sue everyone that somewhat "copy" "their" designs.
I'd like to see a side by side comparison with the kraton
Don't think it looks like a kraton would love to see a side by side comparison
I have both makes of RC. A big part of the hobby for me is repairing and upgrading the trucks and I have to say hands-down Traxxas vehicles are infinitely easier to work on than Arrma. It’s not even close. I think that’s a part of the equation that people don’t give enough thought
I love this new Traxxas Kraton! Arrma should sue traxxas back :).
That would be a good move, I’d love to see that
He'll yeah.!
Armma salt😭
The world has been a better place for the last 30 years - thanks !!!
$800 is outrageous for a 1/8 scale
Same price as the UDR
@@bassbro1 that doesn’t make it any better lol still to much considering any other truck around same size and 6s is 5-600
@@codenamethecleaner7519 To me $800 is outrageous seeing how the xmaxx is not much more expensive. I have 2 xmaxxes but in all honesty, I doubt I am going to get a Sledge because of the price. I have so many RC's I don't have time to play with now. There is no point in adding another vehicle to the bunch.
@@bassbro1 exactly there’s a few big 8s cars that are 100$ more so it doesn’t make sense to me
Great review! You did a great job on showing all the goodies! Thanks for sharing as always! Love your videos!
Awesome video brother!!
I'm surprised they thought they had to go to a Pan Style chassis instead of fixing the E Revo🤔🤔
I get it though, looks to be a solid truck.... but, does look like they sat back and borrowed ideas form Arrma and Corally even and added their Battery trays and Body mount system🤔🤔.... But who can blame them?? Everyone borrows ideas right💯
Kudos to them for breaking out of their own mold.....BUT for $800 it should be 7075 shock towers and Chassis for EXB and XTR type pricing/bashing.
Truggies have been around like 20 years already.
@@robertmedina3195 yup, wasn't complaining bro, everyone copies, you can't honestly think they DIDN'T get some of inspiration from those that have gone before them.... And that's fine.
I've thought about getting this truck so thank you for this video!
It would be nice to get a side by side comparison with the maxx v2
Thanks for the great detail dive into the Sledge. Amazing vid quality and in depth info. Keep it up!
This thing looks awesome I want one so bad I'd drop in a Max 6 esc and run 8s 😁
Just buy a kraton exb and do that.
@@joshmoncion5859 Already did and its awesome
Nice RC, Nice technologie, thank you for presentation RCDriver
You guys awesome video as always. Traxxas however is straight up biting Arrma Kraton style and design. Remember when they sued Arrma over the FAZON 6S BLX looking too much like their Erevo and won the lawsuit? Maybe Arrma should return the favor now 😆 🤣 😂
🤦
Yep I hope arrma sues them
Understand Arrma has no patents and most of their design components existed before Arrma did.
@@taffyone1 so did the f’ing cantilever suspension that killed the NERO
Awesome! You do the best overviews on UA-cam! I'm so pumped for this truck, Traxxas just blew my mind!
It would be cool if the colour of the chassis depended on which body colour you buy. Sort of how the Maxx is with the shocks.
That was a question I asked. But yeah, blue only. Everything else including different color chassis’ will be available separately.
@@rcdriver Darn that sucks. For that reason I would've thought about buying one, still not out if question though.
I’m getting tired of having to fix my Revo and mini after running them for a couple of packs. I just ordered the Sledge and am hoping that I’ll have hours of repair free fun. I’m really not into upgrades other than cosmetic. Your review has gotten me so excited, I can’t wait to get my Sledge!!
Heya, how is your Sledge doing? Cuz I got E-revo v2 and I kinda want 2 get sledge.
@@lezoriq The weather here really isn’t cooperating, but I’m loving my sledge. Can’t wait to bust out my ramp and send it!
This truck is really nice! Great review Greg. It looks like it will be able to take some abuse. I'm surprised it doesn't come with sway bars. A lot of thought went into this one. Great job traxxas!
He already bent the chassis on a bmx track, just stop with the spam reviews trying to hype a crap company who sues everyone
Awesome video as always dude, super detailed! The truck looks sweet 👌
Great video, love the detailed explanation of everything. I really like that spot you go to. Wish I had one like it where I live. I’m digging the sledge, but not with that price. $799.95 😳. Why in the world would they price it above the kraton? Especially when it’s a direct copy 😆.
Try buying one is Australia....$1300
Thank you! Great review. Been watching all your Traxxas videos ... and now I know which one to get. First on the list at my local hobby store for a Sledge!
Looks like traxxas wants to compete with arrma finally
🤦 Traxxas is the #1 selling rc brand.
New level of product review 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻, very comprehensive product overview, best buyer guide video 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Traxxas Kraton 🤔
Solid truck and even solider video Greg. Looks like the perfect truck for The BigBrownEye Basher!
It's interesting how non of the reviewers sent the Sledge have talked about the Arrma Kraton, and mostly have an emphasis on fun. How much did Traxxas pay for reviewers to say that?
🤦
Good point mate
It’s pretty simple actually. This is a standalone review of the Sledge. No where in the title, thumbnail, video description or intro does this say it is a “comparison” video or a “versus” video. In my 30 years doing this I’ve never done a comparison in a first launch product video. It’s always done separately. See simple.
@@rcdriver it's on literally everyone's mind though. All of the reviews I've seen so far have been the same, so Traxxas must be asking you to say exactly what they want you to say.
They would've sent it to Kevin Talbot, but he doesn't review products without writing his own script, and they didn't send it to him even though he would've been a good reviewer for something like this. So obviously there's a set script....
@@S9RUT they know in less than 2 maybe 5 minutes Kevin's gonna trash it......and he's a millionaire doing it ......funny how everybody else is doing the same and going broke trying to keep up....sometimes I wonder why in the hell I even bothered getting back into my old hobby when all people want to do is break their toys as soon as the camera is rolling.......there's no joy in it for like that, mine stays in prestige shape anytime, any place, anywhere without worry of breaking ....I simply drive them.....not bash or crash or whatever ppl are calling it.......
I'm ready for a Sledge-Maxx already! 😁
It truly looks like an Arrma Kraton knockoff.
They need to be sued now lol
Salty, why can’t y’all just like both.
@@Jamenj1999 Because it would be nice to see something different these days then another "monster truck" with a very low fictional body, that has the rear wheel arches cut up open, and a rear spoiler which no real Monster truck ever had, ever.
@@Jamenj1999 how salty? The T brand goes around suing everyone under excuses of copying and stealing their innovation.
@@Jamenj1999 with a brand like Traxxas, who sue everyone for even the slightest of "copied" design, you would expect them to be completely original. But no, and that's not a surprise really.
That Sledge is a natural on that BMX jumps....great video great review
If Arrma and traxxas made a rc it would be this!
I do really like the look for sure but can we please be honest traxxas has made a Kraton.
Is it me??
I do like it though 👌🏻
Traxxas made a truggy. Arrma didn’t invent the truggy. It’s simply another option for the class.
@@rcdriver I totally understand and absolutely agree but from a visual point of view they are extremely similar.
Again I do like it though 👍
Arrma already made it....

Great video! 👌🏻 I have it in the cart right now! I’m new with RC cars but doing my homework to learn! Love this one…is sick! Thanks for the video! 👍🏻
Get outa here with that MSRP. Get rid of the "Traxxas" tax, add some 7075 and adjustable links to bring it up to snuff to market and price ACCORDINGLY! Proprietary hexes! c'mon.... Traxxas the Apple of RC's...SMH
🤣🤣🤣
@Phuckofftopuss possibly, remember exb is 7075 though.
@Phuckofftopuss proprietary wheel hexes is still bad regardless. Plus no sway bars or wheelie bar just so they can sell it to you later...lol. I'll vote with my wallet and buy some Team Corally stuff😉
@@paulclancy2404 Being that heavy with big sends is a higher chance of breakage.
I'm in total agreement. At nearly 13 pounds this isn't going to hold up too great. It needs weight reduction.
@@robertmedina3195 Wonder if Basherqueen or M2C will end up making carbon fiber or aluminum upgrades for this. Would be highly interested if BQ made a CF chassis/shock towers and all the other goodies to drop the weight a ton.
@@ZeuZLoD I don't think she would make a chassis because I think she can only make parts out of flat stock but I'm not sure. It is going to need so many parts to lighten it up and it will still be very heavy after because of the super beefy drivetrain. However, every gram of weight that can be removed will help that's for sure.
This thing looks amazing. My E-Revo Brushless has been pretty bulletproof with RPM arms up front and true tracks in the rear and single high TQ servo conversion. My Achilles heel now is stripping spur gears on 6S. this thing looks like it would smash right through it with hardly a scratch.
Nah not worth that price. They’re selling this for $900(tax included) and we’re talking 1/5 prices right there.
I think I'll get two
Traxxas did it again, they just keep on sending it!
Is it just me or does it look like a kraton 6s copy?
100%
Definitely 👍
Definitely not a copy. It's a basic truggy layout that's been used long before Arrma designed the kraton. Name one part that is exactly the same.
from what I understand they made it as the kraton 6s competitor
Honestly sort of
Great review 😎 I Wish they would have installed some bumpers with mounting light spots like the maxx
So 800$ and most likely suffers from the same issues it has. I want to know what makes this 200$ better than the kraton
Reliability and support. You can’t even get anyone on the phone over at horizon. It’s seriously stupid
I just email them for my warranty claims. They ask me to answer a few questions proof of purchase and pictures/video of the problems. 1-2 days later order is being shipped with ups ground.

Arrma should sue Traxxas!!!
When i heard about this truck releasing, your review is the video i was hoping to find first. Your reviews are the best sir!
Great video as always Greg. Maybe I'm jaded, but I don't see anything special here? Is it because it's from Traxxas, the most overpriced and overrated name in RC? It's nice that Traxxas has finally showed up to the truggy party, but I just don't see anything that hasn't been done over and over already. TRX fan bois rejoice!!
What I find funny is that the Revo was like the proto-truggy. Now Traxxas makes a truggy almost 20 years later. Crazy how things come full circle
whats the deal with many of these RC channels always displaying an "o-mouth" facial gesture in the thumbnails ,,,I opened youtube this morning to 3 in a row...it's become a standard thing it seems anymore..and an odd habit thats prevelant these days
Get over it?
Great detailed review. Loved how in-depth you went. Looks to be a awesome truck
looks kool, but traxxas wants u to use their batteries, and their charges is such a joke….
🤦 you don't have to use Traxxas batteries and charger. Jokes on you.
@@spike-- well obviously…. but it’s their business practice which is a joke.
@@rushgush
I disagree but ok.
@@spike-- that would be like buying a civic and honda making u use only their tires unless u wanna void their warranty and use aftermarket tires. would u like that? probably not.
@@rushgush
That makes no sense. I have 6 different battery brands with Traxxas connectors. And I use a protek charger. No warranty void.
I really like your reviews....love my Maxx 4S (mine's all hobbywing and 6S) BUT I can't stand how much Traxxas makes you either go all in with their charger, their batteries, their connectors, and their tool to change the wheels....or replace everything with aftermarket parts. It looks like they are moving in the right direction overall though!! I want a Sledge so badly. Lately I've been Bashing more than flying drones ha ha!! My Maxx runs TBS Crossfire for superior range and has optional DJI FPV for that driver's seat view BUT Line of SIght driving like you're doing is still needed to hit jumps correctly etc...Thanks for cranking out great videos and for advancing the hobby.
Ahh yes, a much more expensive, rip off version of the kraton. Way too many similarities to it. For a company who cries and sues others for copying they sure aren't shy to do the same. I say boo traxxas for this one 👎
😭
It’s funny traxxas will sue for a look a like design. Then they release this truggy. 😂
Best RC reviews on UA-cam!
They tried to copy the Kraton, so much plastic though
It looks like it needs a front bumper! Hopefully RPM can design one as good as the one they make for Arrmas 1/8 trucks. Just from this video it looks like a refined and improved version of the Kraton. Seems the chassis layout will make it easier to work on and maintain. Let's see how it does on people's hands over the next few months.

Thanks for the indepth video. I was on the fence about the next Traxxas truck I was going to get. This tipped yhe scales for sure. Thanks
Love to watch this beast drive!
Despite sometimes sounding like Cal Worthington's car sales ads from the 1970s and 80s you DO however give the most informative and best videographic reviews of any UA-cam RC channel. I had ZERO interest in another "Basher" no matter how many or how few S batteries it ran on, but now I do. That new Traxxas looks like a heluva truck.
Brilliant video and full of excellent information 👍
That T brace is impressive.
Nice job let’s Kevin be the judge of bending chassis
This is my stretched Arrma Typhon 6S is anyone wants to check it out & have any questions:

The truck seems awesome, seems like they’ve fixed everything that they had wrong with their erevo 2.0….that I just bought, less than a year ago and put enough money and parts into that this comes with…out of the box. Either way, maybe that’s just a sign to buy this and not have to worry with ALL the repairs as the erevo needed. Thanks again for the review!
About time they put something out with nice features and quality parts👍
Great walkthrough and review Greg. I can't wait to get this one.
I was gifted two x-maxx. Sold both because of the main issue. Plastic chassis and the way the body mount system was. Now I have to buy two of this model seems like Traxxas is getting it right again
