Even mechanics that lambast Kia admit that the Sportage is a reliable and good car. They are pretty fast, too. Turning that car down is blatant stupidity, as is not looking at the camper van. The camper van has a high resale value, plus he can sleep in it and actually move with it. He will not do anything with the Saab, and it will cost a fortune. Expect the roof to leak and everything to break. I already know the story. You did NOT teach him well.

Man your mom and dad didn’t teach you well either. You must have had some pretty dumb parents. Grown man out here crying on another mans UA-cam video calling a 16 year old boy stupid. Maybe you should try getting a life instead of trolling young boys on the internet. I’m watching you.

@@miastrong151 Look I get what you're saying. I have a Saab story myself (haha get it). But have some respect, man. Maybe he's trying to teach the boy a lesson. That everything that shines, ain't always gold.
I made the mistake of choosing "cool" over "reliable" at 18. Traded a perfectly good 03 Ford taurus in for a 07 Mitsubishi Eclipse, that turned out to be a lemon. I respect the dad for allowing the kid to choose, and encountering then tackling the issues he faces because of his choice.
At least in this scenario it's a father and son, not a shady ass buy here pay here dealer looking to rip him off. I'm still dealing with that POS lemon over a decade later.
Let that man raise his son how he sees fit. Hate when people act like they were never 16-18, young and irresponsible.

@@BiIlDipperIy Good cars are not cool, and that is why they are good cars. I would expect a car dealer to teach the value of that to his son and explain that he does not have Maserati money.

      @miastrong151 2 місяці тому +13

@ My issue is that he chose “cool” over every other fact in his life and know that he will pay for it dearly. I am in a ‘16 Subaru and still miss my ‘12 V6 Kia Sorento. It was a very reliable and nice car, even though no one thought it was “cool”. That is much better than being in a 20-year-old shitter.

They are solid cars, most of the repairs I did to 9-3s were broken cup holders, trunk lid harness, ignition switches and lost keys. DO NOT ever lose all your keys! That will end up costing you ~$2k. Never, ever have less than two keys. Other than that they are pretty reliable, fun cars.

NICK on behalf of all the kids that grew up like me, please give your dad a hug and let him know how much you appreciate this.
There are fully grown men out there trying their hardest to have even to rats to choose from. Please take the time to truly be grateful for your dad and this awesome gift.
I know it's embarrassing and all that, totally get it. But I have to tell you that you will look back one day on this with a real understanding for how big of an opportunity your dad put together for you.
He is a good one! Take good care of him and enjoy your new car Nick!
    Congrats 🎉

Honestly I appreciated my first car most because I had to work for it to own it. As with every car since, but now my 3rd car bought with the money I sold my second car for. Own it outright, it’s mine, it’s not the newest or cleanest, but I worked for it and I appreciate it because of that

The 2023 Kia Sportage is the only real choice. It has the modern safety features and standards which is incredibly important with how big and heavy cars have gotten (old cars are now death traps, just weren't designed to be hit by today's vehicles), and is new so should be reliable, and has modern tech like android auto/apple carplay, and is way nicer than the Hyundai Venue.

I have a 2009 Saab 9-3 2-0 T sedan. Watch the fuel send unit. The gauge will eventually go out. It fails often in the 07 to 09’s. The motors do go in the windows. I have replaced 3 of the 4. The other thing is that the headlights have fuses that blow. The other things to watch are the coil springs and the valves during the winter.

I drove a '88 Jeep Commanche in high school. The Hyundai is a good fit for nick.

I always thought the Comanches were cool. Sadly, you almost never see them anymore but I did have a neighbor that has a few that were project vehicles a few years ago.

@brian5o very true. They are rare. If I were to come across one rust free, I would snag it.

Pretty cool dad. Just enjoys the ride and has fun. Lets his kid make his own decisions as long as its safe for him. Fun video. My friends parents had a dodge dynasty.. and we were probably 16-17 and his parents let us drive it for a trip. We didn't tell them but we drove all the way from Kansas City to L.A even though we were only supposed to go to Colorado. Drove that thing around non stop for 2 weeks. They couldn't figure out how we blew the radiator in Phoenix even though we were supposed to be in Colorado. Good memories.
