As a mini owner that car is going to need the following as long as the clutch is coming out and you are dropping the subframe. They can also be done with the subframe in the car but the bushings are easier to get in off the car. It will solve 90% of possible (probable) oil leaks and loose handling issues. 1. Front lower control arm bushings $60-80 2. Crankshaft position sensor o ring $4 3. Strut mounts $60 4. Hydraulic timing tensioner $20-60 5. Oil filter housing gasket $7 Other tips and things to check are: 1. The boost bypass valve - These stick open and vent all the boost making the car drive like a poorly tuned regular cooper. Just press the valve under the intake pipe with your finger and if it doesn't firmly close, it needs to be replaced. Not doing this could lose you 50+hp (30% power) 2. Supercharge pulley grip - It sounds like the pulley is spinning when revved. Low quality pulleys don't squeeze the shaft very well and will slip at higher rpms loosing you boost. If need be you can actually drill a recessed bolt through the pulley so it can't spin. 3. Drain and fill the transmission. They only take 1.5-1.75 quarts and if it hasn't been changed it will make it shift way smoother. It will be night and day different.
Quick question for you. Would you say the supercharged Mini Coopers are more reliable than the later turbo models? I've heard that they are tough to work on.
minis arent hard to work on if you just plan to take everything apart for every repair. once you accept that and get good at it, its not so bad. thats just about every german anything. oh, and you will get good at taking it apart. you wont have a choice. good news is the bolts wont be rusted in place, they come out once a year. @Obsidian762
Minis just take a bit of patience. Once you get it into service mode it's not bad at all. The first gens can take a shit ton of abuse, the biggest issue with the 2nd gen turbo cars is the timing cassette, also due to the crazy long oil service intervals...

The thumbs up at the other 300 was some Clarkson shit. This isn't an accident. I get the impression that Cleet and crew really understands the vibe that made these types of Top Gear challenges work. Still very much its own thing but it fills that hole in my life. This channel has great chemistry.
E-brake parallel parking challenge should be considered. A combo of driver finess and vehicle handling. The cars your parking between should be the competitors cars as an added bonus
Besides that, the mini is half the size of the 300c. So they will have to adjust the gap according to size. Alf if they do that I’ll hope they make the parking gap for the mini just a tiny bit smaller as what the mini actually is.
The 300 has a foot pedal and release handle for the E brake. I WOULD LOVE TO SEE CLEET PULL THAT OFF. mostly so i can take notes so i can do it with mine lmfao.

Had a B5 A4 and an S4, both the same red color, both manual trans, both a blast. Drifted through the snow like it was made for it, would climb the snowmobile trail next to the ski hill in the summer (4wd trucks would get stuck, the S4 wouldn't didn't even spin the tires). Loved those cars (the S4 more ofcourse) but HATED wrenching on them. Parts were crazy priced. Would buy another one right now if it was in good shape.

Tunning them is trivial! you can literally buy a tune from 034 Motorsport and flash the ECU with your cellphone and boom! 380-400 Whp! get a turbo from the Golf R used and you're making 450... And because is the S-Line is Quattro DSG Auto so is quick! Is just sad! That 2.0 TFSI engine suffers from: Fuel Pump Cam Follower breaking. Carbon buildup. Water pump made out of plastic. Ignition Coils go bad regardless of the brand (it's just like oil it has a time interval). Timing chain tensioners. And rear main seals. All of the above can cost you an engine or leave the car in limb mode on the highway..

Ive been driving an 04 cooper s for a decade now. (185k miles on it) Mine also has an intake and exhaust and sounds basically identical. its been suprisingly easy to work on.

Hey Ty those aluminum rear trailing arms are from a second gen MINI most likely from an R56. They are alot lighter than the steel ones that are on your car now. Just transfer the abs sensors from an R53 and you are good to go. They don't fit quite perfectly but it keeps the abs light off.

A challenge for the cars: Start with 3 laps on the oval. Followed by a driver swap. Then go to the dragstrip, but before you can race, you need to do an oilchange and sparkplugs. Best time overall wins.
@@charliecole624 ??? Bro, the Q50 is turbo... You dont know what an engine sounds like, until you straight pipe it... The VQ, without any headers, sounds terrible... Just like the K-series from Honda(not that they sound the same, but they both are awful sounding engines).. The reason the Q50 and r35 sound good, is because they have turbo's that muffle and change the engine note/sound. Adding an exhaust to a Turbo car only muffles it further... This is what you can do... Take off your turbo's, and run your engine with no exhaust manifold. Tell me how your engine sounds.... On the contrary, there are engines that just sound incredible no matter what and sound insane straight piped without out any exhaust note interference... Certain v10's and v12's... Big Block V8... 3 and 4 rotor's...

This is absolutely the Top Gear we wanted!!! Never has another motoring show been so close to capturing the magic of the Top Gear of Clarkson, Hammond and May.
Unless you had Amazon prime and watch grand tour with them.
Car Trek got much closer honestly, but this ain’t bad at all. It just doesn’t have the elevated vibe of Top Gear
Top dead center, All the gear, Auto Alex, all British car UA-camrs who have captured the top gear feel long before cleet and crew.
I guess that was a pretty bold statement considering I have never watch some of the other UA-cam series mentioned. They might not be the the closest but still did a pretty good job!

Hey guys FYI that power steering pump on the MINI has a recall on it IN Canada, (probably in the US too.) basically a free pump n wiring at the dealer if it has t been done yet! (Had my old one hopped up to over 200whp. With full Dinan and a few more mods past that)
A relay could fix that :D

Ive been driving an 04 cooper s for a decade now. (185k miles on it) Mine also has an intake and exhaust and sounds basically identical. its been suprisingly easy to work on.

Hey Ty those aluminum rear trailing arms are from a second gen MINI most likely from an R56. They are alot lighter than the steel ones that are on your car now. Just transfer the abs sensors from an R53 and you are good to go. They don't fit quite perfectly but it keeps the abs light off.

Start with 3 laps on the oval. Followed by a driver swap. Then go to the dragstrip, but before you can race, you need to do an oilchange and sparkplugs.
Best time overall wins.

@@yota8325 When you Turbo them, they sound good.. They need that resonator and restriction to sound good. GTR's(r35) in my opinion, sound decent.
I have a q50 they sound great they just have lots of bad owners who cheap out on the exhaust
@@charliecole624 ??? Bro, the Q50 is turbo... You dont know what an engine sounds like, until you straight pipe it... The VQ, without any headers, sounds terrible... Just like the K-series from Honda(not that they sound the same, but they both are awful sounding engines).. The reason the Q50 and r35 sound good, is because they have turbo's that muffle and change the engine note/sound. Adding an exhaust to a Turbo car only muffles it further... This is what you can do... Take off your turbo's, and run your engine with no exhaust manifold. Tell me how your engine sounds.... On the contrary, there are engines that just sound incredible no matter what and sound insane straight piped without out any exhaust note interference... Certain v10's and v12's... Big Block V8... 3 and 4 rotor's...
