You can use this phenomena you noticed to your advantage: lure people in with the meme, earning the post an elevated spot on the answers' pedestal, and then offer the more in-depth & detailed answer in the form of a reply to said top-post (or as a reply to the follow-up questions/commentary), but even then there's a chance for such replies to still end up hidden behind the "show more replies" button). Dr. K is spot on about politics. I work in bridging the political divide and depolarizing the country as well as tracking media bias. Everyone just wants to be heard and respected. The goal isn't for everyone to agree, we never will, but the goal is to disagree accurately with each other and to speak our beliefs truthfully without fear of social rejection. We get closer to truth when we understand others' experiences, and siloing ourselves into echo chambers will only worsen the mental health issues and lonliness crisis in the country.

That only goes as far as not being discriminated against, based on political beliefs. I am a queer person. Lots of Conservative people actively discriminate against me, and then go: "But what about my concerns." Any of them, that are not discriminatory, I have respect for. "I want the gays out of my kids school." should not be a political belief in the first place. And there is no "divide to bridge" from the marginalised here. Only stopping the hatred. As there cannot be a respectful disagreement, if I as a person, are not respected by the other party. That being said. If I am not discriminated against I'm totally with you. And I have extended family that I do not agree with politically, but still get along well with. One of my extended family, I was even able to bring around on queer people being ok. And one I do not talk to, and do not attend the same events, as they might throw fists again, as my "existence is an abomination."

This isn't the right thing to take out still. The takeout is that only by talking to the other side, having conversations, and negotiating with REAL people in the REAL world you can figure out what's true and to just step out of your bubble and consider that all the fearmongering online by either side isn't true. Anxiety is a response to a perceived potential of punishment. You feel anxious because people in the news and on the internet told you (falsely) that if one of the candidates wins then it's all over for all of us, while in reality that is far from true. Most people are good, no matter what their political affiliation is, you're gonna be ok, people are not going to all of a sudden be hateful to each other, in fact this election has brought more unity than division if you go out and dare to see it

Thank you so much for expressing your opinion about the political situation. As a European, I resonated with a lot of things you said, in my country as well things are becoming more black and white without any shades of grey. I really do appreciate that this community is trying to express a nuanced opinion based on compassion. I do think that we need to have more discussions with people from all backgrounds, regardless of their personal views.

Regarding politics: Finally I found someone that speaks what I've been feeling. This year, I felt a particular sentiment online and through my acquaintances and I knew he was going to win and everyone thought I was nuts. I've been seriously concerned that we don't listen to people that don't 100% agree with us and we push them away. I've felt this for a decade and I feel alone. I've tried to share this concern with others, but no one seems to share the concern.
I was a little disappointed that the reflection on the interview with Seth was derailed for the election because I was super interested in continuing that discussion. However...I got a lot out of the election discussion and am grateful I stayed for it, even as a neighboring Canadian.

Soldiers are made by breaking the identity of self and rebuilding the person as an unfailing servant of the mission, the organization, and other members and leaders (similar to a cult or gang). This is why the people who transition to civilian life the best are those who never accepted all of the programming, those who eventually subverted the programming, or those who are so emotionally resilient that they didn’t need the programming. Just to clarify, military experience differs drastically based on the branch and job. Overall the Air Force, Coast Guard, and Space Force tend to be much more corporate like a normal office job, but with a uniform. Maintenance and security jobs are a lot of outdoor work vs computer based jobs. Some jobs are special where they have both, for example cyber infrastructure or radio communications. The Marines and Army are what people might consider the "traditional soldiers", but experience can still depend heavily on the job. The Navy is a weird middle child; because of the nature of ocean warfare, they have to be on a ship much of the time. There are also special forces in each branch that would fall under the "traditional soldier" sterotype.
Agree with everything Dr.K said, particularly on the politics. One thing that's hard on the engagement side, is the fact you do all that work to understand them, even change their minds, but social media and traditional media is so powerful that if you leave them to it, they'll get reverted to whatever opinion is being thrown down their throat because its so emotive and fearmongery. We really need to get people away from media or fix it to actually heal, as the media in order to make money actually wants to pull us apart.
Im realizing I grew up playing warcraft with people that mostly became vets. I just did trail work/ranger stuff instead. I am realizing that maybe going back to wow a bit right now would help me. They were always friendly on there

1:40:16 I agree completely Dr. K! I just had a conversation this past weekend about this. Peer Support and Coaching roles are so difficult to access, but they are such a huge compliment to someone's recovery when coupled with therapy. They have companion programs out there for elderly Veterans, but what about support for veterans that are younger and may not struggle physically but mentally? Life is a struggle for them too. Just because the wound or scar isn't physical does not mean the impact is any less harder to manage on one's own. People that experience trauma need experiences that are supportive and caring to help heal and not everyone has access to that in their social lives, and they could be keeping themselves from it due to their symptoms. That's why peer support and coaching roles exist because sometimes you need a professional there with you instead of talking about it once a week, being told "hey go do this" and then you're left on your own to do it. How do we integrate those roles more into mental health care without it costing someone more than they can afford?

This awakened a few things for me that I hadn't anticipated. I'm going into curiosity about my sleep struggles and understanding that I have issues with hypervigilence from a few of my life experiences. I'm realizing that there might be ways to unlearn this and am on a mission to healing that area of my life. An hour and 14 minutes in, you asked for a pause to process and collect your thoughts. Wait, what? We can do that?? I'm going to start putting this into practice. A friend had requested a moment from me once, and I didn't respect that request. I'm going to be better than that. I just thought I was trying to be funny, but I understand that it was disrespectful. I feel like some of this conversation might speak to the "masculinity crisis" or men's mental health struggle as well 🤔
2:43:23 that's a good theory and is part of why a grieving person really desperately wants to cook a casserole for someone else they love who's grieving even harder maybe. But i don't think food "doesn't help" at a funeral gathering or that it's merely to "do something" even if it's a pointless thing being done. Even the cancer patient keeping their strength up makes sense so they can enjoy the best quality of life possible in the limited hours they have left. So they can be strong enough to not die even sooner than they have to kinda makes sense but also so they can enjoy the quality time with loved ones but when you're dying sometimes eating and digesting isn't really possible. When you're grieving though eating is necessary and basic life needs to go on. You need to still be physically healthy and you don't have as much energy to cook yourself, because the emotions zap all that energy from you. So others cooking alleviates a burden from you needing to cook. It's a very practical and very kind ritual of support.

I have a great example of an online friendship. There's this girl I met online (we were both over 18, don't worry about legal issues). We started talking, started becoming friends. But something felt off about her. I asked if everything was ok. Got a hard no. I let her tell me everything, assuring her that it won't weigh on me too much. I won't go into detail about what she said, but the biggest point was that she was on the edge of suicide. I immediately did everything I could to help her, despite us living too far to get together, and... It worked. She is feeling better now, and she and I have kinda fallen in love too. I am NOT a licensed therapist, so don't take my advice as medical fact. What I do know is that when you talk with people online, and you notice something seems off, ask them if they're ok. You could save a life.
kinda weird that you had to precise that you weren't minors. were you both over 18 as in one of you was 19 and the other 34? in my experience when you become a saviour of someone in a very dire situation through a romantic relationship, that's a very fertile ground for abuse

And, while personally not being in that group, I had an intuition about this: This group of people has been trained to do as you are told. No matter what. You do what you have to do, _so that you are able to do what you must._ And so my guess is that they empathize and respect the person in question, because they recognize that that's what he was doing. Yes, what he did wasn't "right" from a "civ" point of view, but... You are trained to do what you have to. That's completely different than what civs are used to. It feels to me like the option of saying "No" is not something that's easily available to them anymore, and so in a situation where "a normal person" would call in sick or cancel, this guy just powered through - however, in the civ-world, this is not the "correct" behavior anymore. If you are in such deep waters, you "should" cancel, or find another way. But it seems like that kind of ... flexibility has been actively discouraged over a long period of time. (Plus, if you are that comfortable with... the brother of sleep... then maybe you don't feel that that behavior is a bad idea.) So, it's like there's a difference in (held) values for the two groups, and that's why the entire room was supportive for the guy, because they understand and feel the mindset that led him to do this. While someone who doesn't have the background may not see that, only seeing behavior they don't understand at all and criticizing based on that perceived lack of care/sense/.... All of this is assuming that my intuition is correct, which it may well not be, but I wanted to share it, in case it resonates. (Though the rephrasing really didn't do it any favors...) How is someone who genuinely believes that life begins at conception supposed to accept this though? From their viewpoint, legalizing abortion is a bigger human rights violation than banning it. Just saying that we shouldn't have this discussion doesn't suddenly make it not unavoidable. And just saying that these people are wrong doesn't yield results. Either this dilemma needs to get addressed, or the conversation has to be reframed so the dilemma doesn't arise in the first place. We have to try something other than what we've been doing for however many years now and kept repeating despite it not working. Doing what doesn't work over and over is what makes this discussion so sickening.

4:33 I appreciate the sentiment behind the stament, but mental health it's absolutely political, who is viewed as deserving of health and who isn't... is political, what is healthy and what is unhealthy... is decided by politics and of course I'm not saying that we can't build robust enough scientific literature that will ultimately stir us in the direction of truth, but whether that research impacts our support systems is determined by politics.
In France, we used to consider all citizens as just "members of the republic" above all other community background to avoid splitting the population into camps. This is a fundamental difference with the american view where it is normal to talk about "people of color", "the gay community" ect.. I really regret that the american perspective is taking over even in EU.
My friend had an older relative visiting from the UK (my friend is french, I'm a first generation immigrant) and the lady would always say "french Arabs", "french africans" etc it's so jarring to hear tbh. Not to say that we aren't aware of the differences of our backgrounds but it's just not how people talk about other people here.
Thing is, if u don't have a way to track what ethnicity the ppl who are, say, victims of police brutality are, then you don't realize the huge imbalance and racial profiling that's already going on in your society. Race and ethnicity are complex and non-scientific constructs, but they contain a lot of info that just gets lost if you take a stance of "we're all equal, it doesn't matter what color ur skin in". Same discussion with other minority groups

I wish there was some way to max exodus lots of people of the internet and into constructive conversations in the real world. I guess the best we can do, is do what we can, and engage our own power in the world. The one thing I've disagreed with during this, was at 2:29:40 ish. I think for a lot of us (I'm a left leaning individual) it's not about inclusivity it's about tolerance without falling victim to the paradox of tolerance. To be the most tolerant society possible, you must be tolerant of everything except intolerance. If you are an intolerant person in general, then I will be intolerant of you.

I'm not American. I don't think 15 million fewer Democrats voted in 2024 than in 2020. The vote count is ongoing and at the moment (November 12th), apnews is showing 71,569,409 votes for Harris. In 2020, 81,283,501 voted for Biden. California is at 75% votes counted, for example.

However there are many implications in them profiting of many discriminations against others. Others have normal problems too in addition to discriminations. White men have no voice you say, but the president has always been a man, and almost white except for 8 years. You have a whole channel that, by who you talk in your videos, seems mostly addressed to men. If people with these identity traits don't have voice, what about all the others? And is the others' fault if white men don't feel listened to and they are angry? Does this imply that minorities should learn to listen more to the privileged ones? Is oppression caused by minorities not listening to privileged groups? Are minorities responsible for oppression? I am taking this to the extreme, but somebody could understand the idea that "white men are not listened to, therefore they voted for Trump" with these assumptions. Also, somethings that people are very worried about are discriminations. You propose the approach of listening with compassion to understand the other side. However, discriminations have real dangerous consequences. A better world would be one without discriminations. To stop discriminations, we should explain to people why they are bad. I can talk to a discriminatory person and be open and understand them, but will this change something, make the world a better place, expecially for discriminated people? I doubt it. Discrimination stops if the discriminatory person listens to me and I convince them to stop discriminating. But I don't know hot to achieve this, I can't force a person to listen to me, especially if they already think that I am inferior and my opinion doesn't matter because they discriminate me. Also, this means expecting a lot of worl and opennes by discriminated peole to be compassionate towards the people who hurt them. Is this easy? Is this healthy? What if the discriminated person has been traumatised by discrimination? It would be interesting to know how these compassionate conversations are shaped when they don't happen in a void but in a situation already charged with power imbalance and previous bad experiences, and strong feelings. That is why I think to would be interesting to confront your persepctive as a psychologist (the individual side) to a well-informed person about sociology and cultural trends (the collective side), to see how these perspecitve interact and maybe what can be found about problems and solutions in our society.
I agree, we should support women in STEM, so they can feel welcomed, but there shouldn't be any bonus points or special STEM programs ONLY for them. Sure, you can focus the topics about women in STEM but don't ban man from it. Besides, women are already a majority on universities, something like 60/40 and still growing.
On that political endnote: I will say that women should not be the ones expected to bear the brunt of men feeling excluded by women pointing out gender issues, and the violence we all collectively have felt and been on the receiving end for. Check your bros, and focus on building community that fosters empathy for everyone. For any people with privilege (including being enabled to unknowingly enforce systemic violence upon others), pointing out the violence they enact and non-compliance can seem like violence (it being hard to see what's behind those negative reactions, if that has not been your personal experience and/or if empathy might not have been at the forefront of how you were raised, which is also an effect of the patriarchy. I would encourage you to wonder and ask women why they are there, in the first place). And everyone who has any kind of it should listen and ponder which of their positions might enable them to unknowingly enact violence upon others. You can fight for your disadvantages under patriarchy without invalidating women, expecting them to solve and take care of the violence that affects you which comes from other men, and/or while acknowledging the ways in which it's made to affect them. Second, incels stuff is heavily moderated whereas just being a woman is not (obviously). So the whole "shared experience" thing is heavily skewed. I noticed that Dr K often does this when he talks about the community "We did that...", "we accomplished that..." but doesn't take into consideration mitigating factors.

There are bad eggs that vote for both candidates. Painting a group of supporters en masse into a circle of being "nazis" is incredibly divisive and the majority of people that voted for Trump are just working-class people who are tired of not being able to make ends meet. That's what we saw last night and I don't believe that 70M+ of Trump's supporters from diverse racial backgrounds are garbage or "nazis". Also, you made the comment a few times about Trump having no one at his rallies compared to Kamala. That’s not true at all. I’ve watched multiple of both candidates rallies: each side always has a packed audience. Listening to left or right leaning news sources will always create the optic that no one was at the rallies. Important to note because it creates the narrative that Trump didn’t “really” have that much support and something fishy happened.
They're not ALL Nazi's sure, but the way America is likely to go under Trump is very parallel to fascism, which starts off with disenfranchised people blaming specific, marginalised people who aren't doing much better. Starts off with legitimate grievances and ends in evil. We're now relying on these people who aren't Nazi's to make sure people don't read about is in 100 years thinking "oh my god, how did they let this just happen?!"

Viewing polarization as a problem only makes sense if you assume that unity is a good thing. Why? You can use this phenomena you noticed to your advantage: lure people in with the meme, earning the post an elevated spot on the answers' pedestal, and then offer the more in-depth & detailed answer in the form of a reply to said top-post (or as a reply to the follow-up questions/commentary), but even then there's a chance for such replies to still end up hidden behind the "show more replies" button).

Dr. K is spot on about politics. I work in bridging the political divide and depolarizing the country as well as tracking media bias. Everyone just wants to be heard and respected. The goal isn't for everyone to agree, we never will, but the goal is to disagree accurately with each other and to speak our beliefs truthfully without fear of social rejection. We get closer to truth when we understand others' experiences, and siloing ourselves into echo chambers will only worsen the mental health issues and lonliness crisis in the country.

I am a queer person. Lots of Conservative people actively discriminate against me, and then go: "But what about my concerns." Any of them, that are not discriminatory, I have respect for. "I want the gays out of my kids school." should not be a political belief in the first place. And there is no "divide to bridge" from the marginalised here. Only stopping the hatred. As there cannot be a respectful disagreement, if I as a person, are not respected by the other party.
That being said. If I am not discriminated against I'm totally with you. And I have extended family that I do not agree with politically, but still get along well with. One of my extended family, I was even able to bring around on queer people being ok. And one I do not talk to, and do not attend the same events, as they might throw fists again, as my "existence is an abomination."

This isn't the right thing to take out still. The takeout is that only by talking to the other side, having conversations, and negotiating with REAL people in the REAL world you can figure out what's true and to just step out of your bubble and consider that all the fearmongering online by either side isn't true. Anxiety is a response to a perceived potential of punishment. You feel anxious because people in the news and on the internet told you (falsely) that if one of the candidates wins then it's all over for all of us, while in reality that is far from true. Most people are good, no matter what their political affiliation is, you're gonna be ok, people are not going to all of a sudden be hateful to each other, in fact this election has brought more unity than division if you go out and dare to see it

Regarding politics: Finally I found someone that speaks what I've been feeling. This year, I felt a particular sentiment online and through my acquaintances and I knew he was going to win and everyone thought I was nuts.
I've been seriously concerned that we don't listen to people that don't 100% agree with us and we push them away. I've felt this for a decade and I feel alone. I've tried to share this concern with others, but no one seems to share the concern.

Soldiers are made by breaking the identity of self and rebuilding the person as an unfailing servant of the mission, the organization, and other members and leaders (similar to a cult or gang).
This is why the people who transition to civilian life the best are those who never accepted all of the programming, those who eventually subverted the programming, or those who are so emotionally resilient that they didn’t need the programming.
I feel like I should write a book on this lol…it’s wild when you start tot think about the whole military experience in a cerebral way with the benefit of hindsight

Just to clarify, military experience differs drastically based on the branch and job. Overall the Air Force, Coast Guard, and Space Force tend to be much more corporate like a normal office job, but with a uniform. Maintenance and security jobs are a lot of outdoor work vs computer based jobs. Some jobs are special where they have both, for example cyber infrastructure or radio communications.
The Marines and Army are what people might consider the "traditional soldiers", but experience can still depend heavily on the job. The Navy is a weird middle child; because of the nature of ocean warfare, they have to be on a ship much of the time. There are also special forces in each branch that would fall under the "traditional soldier" sterotype.

Agree with everything Dr.K said, particularly on the politics. One thing that's hard on the engagement side, is the fact you do all that work to understand them, even change their minds, but social media and traditional media is so powerful that if you leave them to it, they'll get reverted to whatever opinion is being thrown down their throat because its so emotive and fearmongery. We really need to get people away from media or fix it to actually heal, as the media in order to make money actually wants to pull us apart.

1:40:16 I agree completely Dr. K! I just had a conversation this past weekend about this. Peer Support and Coaching roles are so difficult to access, but they are such a huge compliment to someone's recovery when coupled with therapy. They have companion programs out there for elderly Veterans, but what about support for veterans that are younger and may not struggle physically but mentally? Life is a struggle for them too. Just because the wound or scar isn't physical does not mean the impact is any less harder to manage on one's own. People that experience trauma need experiences that are supportive and caring to help heal and not everyone has access to that in their social lives, and they could be keeping themselves from it due to their symptoms. That's why peer support and coaching roles exist because sometimes you need a professional there with you instead of talking about it once a week, being told "hey go do this" and then you're left on your own to do it. How do we integrate those roles more into mental health care without it costing someone more than they can afford?
After some time I noticed Seth's full arm and neck is fully covered by tattoos and that must've been pretty painful. The endurance and patience of this man is obvious

This awakened a few things for me that I hadn't anticipated. I'm going into curiosity about my sleep struggles and understanding that I have issues with hypervigilence from a few of my life experiences. I'm realizing that there might be ways to unlearn this and am on a mission to healing that area of my life. An hour and 14 minutes in, you asked for a pause to process and collect your thoughts. Wait, what? We can do that?? I'm going to start putting this into practice. A friend had requested a moment from me once, and I didn't respect that request. I'm going to be better than that. I just thought I was trying to be funny, but I understand that it was disrespectful. I feel like some of this conversation might speak to the "masculinity crisis" or men's mental health struggle as well 🤔

2:43:23 that's a good theory and is part of why a grieving person really desperately wants to cook a casserole for someone else they love who's grieving even harder maybe. But i don't think food "doesn't help" at a funeral gathering or that it's merely to "do something" even if it's a pointless thing being done. Even the cancer patient keeping their strength up makes sense so they can enjoy the best quality of life possible in the limited hours they have left. So they can be strong enough to not die even sooner than they have to kinda makes sense but also so they can enjoy the quality time with loved ones but when you're dying sometimes eating and digesting isn't really possible. When you're grieving though eating is necessary and basic life needs to go on. You need to still be physically healthy and you don't have as much energy to cook yourself, because the emotions zap all that energy from you. So others cooking alleviates a burden from you needing to cook. It's a very practical and very kind ritual of support.

I have a great example of an online friendship.
There's this girl I met online (we were both over 18, don't worry about legal issues). We started talking, started becoming friends. But something felt off about her. I asked if everything was ok. Got a hard no. I let her tell me everything, assuring her that it won't weigh on me too much. I won't go into detail about what she said, but the biggest point was that she was on the edge of suicide. I immediately did everything I could to help her, despite us living too far to get together, and...
It worked.
She is feeling better now, and she and I have kinda fallen in love too.
I am NOT a licensed therapist, so don't take my advice as medical fact. What I do know is that when you talk with people online, and you notice something seems off, ask them if they're ok. You could save a life.

There was a question asked here, about "What do the others understand about the behavior?" And, while personally not being in that group, I had an intuition about this:
This group of people has been trained to do as you are told. No matter what. You do what you have to do, _so that you are able to do what you must._
And so my guess is that they empathize and respect the person in question, because they recognize that that's what he was doing.
Yes, what he did wasn't "right" from a "civ" point of view, but... You are trained to do what you have to. That's completely different than what civs are used to.
It feels to me like the option of saying "No" is not something that's easily available to them anymore, and so in a situation where "a normal person" would call in sick or cancel, this guy just powered through - however, in the civ-world, this is not the "correct" behavior anymore.
If you are in such deep waters, you "should" cancel, or find another way.
But it seems like that kind of ... flexibility has been actively discouraged over a long period of time. (Plus, if you are that comfortable with... the brother of sleep... then maybe you don't feel that that behavior is a bad idea.)
So, it's like there's a difference in (held) values for the two groups, and that's why the entire room was supportive for the guy, because they understand and feel the mindset that led him to do this. While someone who doesn't have the background may not see that, only seeing behavior they don't understand at all and criticizing based on that perceived lack of care/sense/....
All of this is assuming that my intuition is correct, which it may well not be, but I wanted to share it, in case it resonates. (Though the rephrasing really didn't do it any favors...)

Thank you for addressing bodily autonomy Dr.K. Basic human rights should not be up for "discussion" any more. But alas we're still not past the point of having to discuss if humans can have equal rights (I include all the instances in this, in which they keep being questioned or aren't even brought up. Aka I include all human rights topics in this.)
How is someone who genuinely believes that life begins at conception supposed to accept this though? From their viewpoint, legalizing abortion is a bigger human rights violation than banning it. Just saying that we shouldn't have this discussion doesn't suddenly make it not unavoidable. And just saying that these people are wrong doesn't yield results. Either this dilemma needs to get addressed, or the conversation has to be reframed so the dilemma doesn't arise in the first place. We have to try something other than what we've been doing for however many years now and kept repeating despite it not working. Doing what doesn't work over and over is what makes this discussion so sickening.

Not even a dead person can be forced to donate organs if they stated that they do not consent to it. Forcing someone to carry a pregnancy to term is granting that fetus special rights.
Not to mention outlawing abortion outlaws it being used as birth control AND as healthcare. It puts women who aren't even trying to end their pregnancy in mortal danger. It was then turned into something casual people can get done in their free time. This topic delves deep and is complicated. Simply saying my body my choice is oversimplifying it and honestly shows a lack of intelligence. This argument is over when does life begin? What is life? When can someone be considered alive? What is consciousness? What is the soul? These are questions that humanity has been pondering over since the beginning of human history. In France, we used to consider all citizens as just "members of the republic" above all other community background to avoid splitting the population into camps. This is a fundamental difference with the american view where it is normal to talk about "people of color", "the gay community" ect.. I really regret that the american perspective is taking over even in EU.
My friend had an older relative visiting from the UK (my friend is french, I'm a first generation immigrant) and the lady would always say "french Arabs", "french africans" etc it's so jarring to hear tbh. Not to say that we aren't aware of the differences of our backgrounds but it's just not how people talk about other people here.
Thing is, if u don't have a way to track what ethnicity the ppl who are, say, victims of police brutality are, then you don't realize the huge imbalance and racial profiling that's already going on in your society. Race and ethnicity are complex and non-scientific constructs, but they contain a lot of info that just gets lost if you take a stance of "we're all equal, it doesn't matter what color ur skin in". The one thing I've disagreed with during this, was at 2:29:40 ish. I think for a lot of us (I'm a left leaning individual) it's not about inclusivity it's about tolerance without falling victim to the paradox of tolerance. To be the most tolerant society possible, you must be tolerant of everything except intolerance. If you are an intolerant person in general, then I will be intolerant of you.

I appreciate that you talk about how the world reacts to men's problems and how this is linked to the election. However, I feel that there are some incorrect assumptions. I would love to hear you talk about these things with a well-documented and aware feminist activist, so that you can listen to each other and exchange opinions. I understand the perspective of men that you are talking of, everybody has problems, men too, but their complaints are not considered as valid so they feel frustrated. However there are many implications in them profiting of many discriminations against others. Others have normal problems too in addition to discriminations. Others too are not listened much by "their" party, while there is a whole party dedicated to angry white hetero men. White men have no voice you say, but the president has always been a man, and almost white except for 8 years. You have a whole channel that, by who you talk in your videos, seems mostly addressed to men. If people with these identity traits don't have voice, what about all the others? And is the others' fault if white men don't feel listened to and they are angry? Does this imply that minorities should learn to listen more to the privileged ones? Is oppression caused by minorities not listening to privileged groups? Are minorities responsible for oppression? I am taking this to the extreme, but somebody could understand the idea that "white men are not listened to, therefore they voted for Trump" with these assumptions. Also, somethings that people are very worried about are discriminations. You propose the approach of listening with compassion to understand the other side. However, discriminations have real dangerous consequences. A better world would be one without discriminations. To stop discriminations, we should explain to people why they are bad. I can talk to a discriminatory person and be open and understand them, but will this change something, make the world a better place, expecially for discriminated people? I doubt it. Discrimination stops if the discriminatory person listens to me and I convince them to stop discriminating. But I don't know hot to achieve this, I can't force a person to listen to me, especially if they already think that I am inferior and my opinion doesn't matter because they discriminate me. Also, this means expecting a lot of worl and opennes by discriminated peole to be compassionate towards the people who hurt them. Is this easy? Is this healthy? What if the discriminated person has been traumatised by discrimination? It would be interesting to know how these compassionate conversations are shaped when they don't happen in a void but in a situation already charged with power imbalance and previous bad experiences, and strong feelings. That is why I think to would be interesting to confront your persepctive as a psychologist (the individual side) to a well-informed person about sociology and cultural trends (the collective side), to see how these perspecitve interact and maybe what can be found about problems and solutions in our society.
I agree, we should support women in STEM, so they can feel welcomed, but there shouldn't be any bonus points or special STEM programs ONLY for them. Sure, you can focus the topics about women in STEM but don't ban man from it. Besides, women are already a majority on universities, something like 60/40 and still growing.
On that political endnote:
I will say that women should not be the ones expected to bear the brunt of men feeling excluded by women pointing out gender issues, and the violence we all collectively have felt and been on the receiving end for. Check your bros, and focus on building community that fosters empathy for everyone.
For any people with privilege (including being enabled to unknowingly enforce systemic violence upon others), pointing out the violence they enact and non-compliance can seem like violence (it being hard to see what's behind those negative reactions, if that has not been your personal experience and/or if empathy might not have been at the forefront of how you were raised, which is also an effect of the patriarchy. I would encourage you to wonder and ask women why they are there, in the first place). And everyone who has any kind of it should listen and ponder which of their positions might enable them to unknowingly enact violence upon others.
You can fight for your disadvantages under patriarchy without invalidating women, expecting them to solve and take care of the violence that affects you which comes from other men, and/or while acknowledging the ways in which it's made to affect them.

RE politics - I appreciate you sharing the clip of Scott Jennings talking about the results for Trump (1:56:00). There are bad eggs that vote for both candidates. Painting a group of supporters en masse into a circle of being "nazis" is incredibly divisive and the majority of people that voted for Trump are just working-class people who are tired of not being able to make ends meet. That's what we saw last night and I don't believe that 70M+ of Trump's supporters from diverse racial backgrounds are garbage or "nazis".
Also, you made the comment a few times about Trump having no one at his rallies compared to Kamala. That’s not true at all. I’ve watched multiple of both candidates rallies: each side always has a packed audience. Listening to left or right leaning news sources will always create the optic that no one was at the rallies. Important to note because it creates the narrative that Trump didn’t “really” have that much support and something fishy happened.
They're not ALL Nazi's sure, but the way America is likely to go under Trump is very parallel to fascism, which starts off with disenfranchised people blaming specific, marginalised people who aren't doing much better.
