Its really astonishing to me that a guy who usually gets potrayed as this kind of degenerate nerd streamer by the Twitch Community, is actually one of the mentally healthiest/smartest/most upright people Dr. K has ever interviewed. It shows in the way he speaks and Alok recognized that from the first minute on (look at the way he smiles when Asmon is talking)!
I understand why you got that impression of him at first, but in reality.. this is him, also on UA-cam. On steam he's joking around talking shit and its his CHAT that's 90% of degenerates
I don't watch him all too much, sometimes to his reaction vids pop up in my UA-cam feed and I will. I've always got the impression that he was very well spoken and enjoyable to listen to. Who thinks that he's a degenerate nerd streamer?
The fact you know this random man by asmon is enough to tell you he obviously isn't a fuck up and did something right atleast enough to make him a famous millionaire
@@alec6583 I don't even play games. Asmon is 90% of my youtube feed. Yes, even the hours long gaming streams. Asmon is a necessity for a silent majority.
Man I wish I could find a doctor that's as good as you at drilling into the root of problems. I really struggle to understand what contributes to either side of my "laziness equation"
@@ChairmanMeow1 I would encourage you to watch these videos and use them for yourself. I like to hear Dr.K's questions - hit pause - and think about it myself. Like he says a lot of times - Awareness is the first step to helping your self. Good luck!
@@ChairmanMeow1 don't lose hope. There's lots you can do to help yourself, and as the guy Good Luck said, whenever you hear questions in videos like this. Hit paus. Think. Give yourself time to answer the question for yourself. Revelations about yourself might happen from doing that. Something else which could potentially help you help yourself as well, is begin reading about all things psychology. Sometimes we discover things about ourselves from being curious about better understanding how other people function, and why they might be the way they are, and do the things that they do. I can't help you fix whatever is wrong in your life, but, if you feel you are in need of someone listening? Someone to tell whatever it is that is weighing heavy on you? Don't be afraid to reach out, I can be that person.
If anyone told me, there was gonna be a harvard trained physician talking with a WoW streamer about the fear of death and the nature of enlightening moments by using references like Leeroy Jenkins, ten years ago, I'd have laughed at them so hard.
I'm not sure if it you said it intentionally but he's a Psychiatrist* not a physician?- which is even crazier because the vast majority of Psychiatrists are really unprogressive
@@_Checkmang Isn't that how he always introduces himself? Harvard trained physician? Idk, that's what I remembered, maybe I got it wrong, these terms are sometimes a bit confusing in english to me.
I remember I got really annoyed by watching Asmons streams in the beginning. But after watching him more I clearly see a very smart, reflected and down to earth guy. His philosophy about not comparing one self to others all the time, is something more people would benefit a lot from.
its weird right? And it seems to happen to so many people, cause theres always comments going "i always took him for this supernerd in his boycave, but apparently i was so wrong". Hes definately a super fascinating character, and im still torn if i feel like its a good or bad thing he doesnt try to change his "presentation" so that it more fits his personality and stuff... Like you would think hes a 4 viewer channel with crappy cam and the backdrop of a lazy 12 year old... yet prolly has the money to build himself a streamer mansion. I dont know man...
camokazee agreed. Part of it is his laziness and part of it his how humble he is. He doesn’t flex on people with money or fame really. He lives Roth him mom when he could have a huge ass house and a decked out streamer room.
imo Zack would be a better streamer. Asmongold on the other hand, the persona he puts on in order to appeal to those pepega normie viewers is a bit too much and obnoxious sometimes.
My friend needs this. I don't think they know what a good therapist is and I think sometimes they rely on me to be their therapist and I no longer have my shit together enough to help them there.
This is quite possibly the best interview yet. I’m glad Zack was able to let his true intellect out and drop the Asmongold character for a little while. Hopefully he uses what Dr. K gave him to combat his struggles. Asmongold is a warrior in Azeroth; It’s time for Zack to face his life challenges as a warrior as well.
Dr K is so natural. It's refreshing to see a psychiatrist be so natural. As a training physician, I wish I had mentor like him especially since I'm headed to psychiatry too.
@@arudenko87 gate keeping is like limiting acces to something, like a bouncer outside the bar who decides who gets in and who doesnt who is allowed to suffer and who isnt is the the type of gate keeping done by life bouncer idk if that helps
@@fukkyouthatswhy I think Dr.K is saying that people who have a overall good life like most popular streamers like Asmongold isn't being allowed to suffer because he plays video games and makes money while other people have it worse. I think it's bullshit but it happens
He's a very genuine person, dr. k is just well rounded and you can see he's passionate in his profession and actually cares about the people he interviews.
Wow. THIS is peak HealthyGamerGG content. I feel like Dr K gets to really flex his muscles as an intellectual, therapist, and meditation teacher when paired with someone like Asmongold, who can actually keep up with what Dr K sometimes struggles to verbally communicate (due to the topics often being pretty hard to wrap your head around). Honestly I feel like they were on such a good wavelength together I could see them starting a recurring podcast together. I'd sure as hell tune in.
Whoever manages Healthygamer's YT channel, please forward this idea to Dr. K. Either a podcast or a weekly hour-or-so of them playing WoW together and talking about life would be amazing.
@@classyjohn1923 right. and if you aren't already familiar with the word, you need it explained to you, at which point there's no utility to using the word in the first place
That would be cool, but Asmongold is already running his own podcast ''Allcraft''. If I know Asmon right, he wouldn't want to have too much going on at the same time
I love that not only do you learn about your favorite streamers' mind and mentality. You also learn a lot about yourself and acknowledge your weaknesses and the way your own mind works separately from your personal thoughts.
Can you elaborate how it works separately? I feel as though that separation cannot progress you towards a moment of enlightenment as it requires every part of you to be in that moment. Am I wrong?
@@psd90 The way I see it, there is the way you think, and the way you think you think. The more in tune you are with the reality of your way of thinking (let's use the video terminology, the roots of the problems) the more you can consciously be aware of the way you function. The more aware you are in the way you function allows you to take actions on the branches or even the roots and work towards being the desired you. For example, I feel really in tune with Asmon with the way that laziness gives way to efficiency and a lack of future thinking. So, I am PERFECTLY happy just eating pasta and red sauce everyday for the rest of my life. I don't really have this need that people have to eat healthy or just good food when I can be "lazy", eat whatever and not spend an hour of my day cooking/eating and play vidyas or read or whatever. So, being aware of this (and due to a roommate that believes that living like this is a travesty) I had a "moment of enlightenment", watched a bunch of youtube cooking videos like Internet Shaquile, Babish, and random shit and now I try to make simple but tasty meals. I get a sense of satisfaction of making something good, of having my roommate try something of mine, getting feedback, sharing a meal, inviting people to eat, etc. This has given me constant positive feelings and improved my life. Now I'm working on another branch which is making healthier food, to eventually make some changes in the root problem of my life which would be laziness and procrastination as conformism. In short, you can't force yourself to a moment of enlightenment. But you can alter a little tiny bit the way you think, to foster their occurrence more. AND then making sure you don't use them as an excuse for reverting back those changes (I'm cooking better know, today I just wanna eat whatever, and the next day as well, and the next next next) All of this takes conscious effort, and that's why I like the meditation technique Dr. K gave Asmon. To stop once in a while and reevaluate. This is the end of my TED talk, have a nice day. I'mma make some vegetarian burritos.
@@Jonsoner ah lol. well I must say that the speech was fascinating and a look into what I said or a..interpretation might I say, which is kinda accurate of my belief in how the mind works. but what I meant is that that you wouldn't necessarily get frightened by a lion for example if you think that you're not and you believe it to be true. but the mind thinks otherwise once you experience being in front of a lion so... in a sense you can make yourself look delusional by thinking over your personal thoughts when in reality the mind functions on it's own taking what it knows from your experiences with certain things deciding what your natural thoughts will be. A homophobic person doesn't necessarily hate gay men because he thinks it is weird, sometimes his mindset is naturally that way. So you could sit in your room thinking that you know yourself well but then when you're watching a dr. K video with another streamer talking about mental issues you might relate to or mental issues in general you get a stronger connection with your automatically thinking and organizing mind because you start changing they way you think personally and seeing what you thought was non existent inside you. sorry if I used a lot of words over and over again, my vocabulary isn't of the finest.
It's standard practice for me to run my phone out of battery. I even bought the sonic boom 120DB alarm clock, and believe it or not, I manage to sleep through that one as well. I think I need a Mr. Bean style alarm clock with boiling water droplets falling on the feet or something...
@@artificiallyunintelligent4537what if they don't care and were just trying to brag, thinking somehow anyone is impressed by a random commenter getting up this way?
I've slammed through several of your interviews the past couple weeks in learning to deal with my own traumas, and all of them were enlightening. But, this one was especially incredible. Strangely I feel both hopeful and frightened. Thank you for doing these :)
When you have all the material things in life but the people you love are slowly dying around you and there’s nothing you can do to slow it. I’m sure he’s spent plenty nights crying and you could say he’s all cried out. Or maybe he’s not a crier? Either way he has dealt with some heavy shit and if you pay attention over the years you can tell he handles himself and emotions very well.
zack is too intelligent for his own good, it's actually fairly amazing to watch dr k do his work and reach the end game within 20~ minutes compared to most people lacking the ability to understand basic components of life, this episode is AMAZING.
Ive got a large difference between performal and verbal iq, verbal being higher. This results in the thoughts you have being too complex to be able to figure them out as quickly as you would if your performal iq would be the same. Coincidentally enough, i have pretty much the same day to day and long term struggles he's having. Even the dynamic between him and his friends.
31:56 him talking about always wanting to preserve the memories, I totally understand that there is so much I wish I could have remembered about my past but so I don't forget I always record my endeavours with friends and family so it's solidified in time for me. This is the best episode by far.
I have spend the past 25 yrs with the mindset of trying everything atleast once. I basicly wan't to taste everything life has to offer that I am curious about before it is over. I love music and being social and laughing with friends and also strangers so I was instantly attracted to music festivals. I have been to dozens of weeklong festivals and seen hundreds and hundreds of concerts. All in som varying degree of intoxication and euphoria. There is SO much I don't remember, but also SO much I do... Some things I know I have done, but I won't remember when or where. Other things I remember when and where but not with who or how I got there. Some thing are decades old but clear as yesterday and other things I only remember when someone I barely remember tells about me doing it. Life and memory is random. But it is being kept alive by remembering and talking about the experiences with friends and strangers. I allways tell stories of where I've been, what I've tried or seen or learned. Iand I love hereing stories from others because it reminds me of similar experiences of my own. Thats my BrainVlog. -Because I am too caught up in the moment to remember being my own cameraman...
A very beautiful thing to do for yourself and your loved ones, but I feel it's something you need to keep in check. Being focused on capturing a moment can easily distract from living it. I'm sure you're aware, I'm just speaking from experience.
It’s important to preserve those moments but I think the real point is to truly enjoy them as they happen. Reliving them later is amazing…but obviously humans were never supposed to be able to relive an experience or time. The fact we can may or may not be a good thing.
I feel like Dr.K and Asmongold have the potential to come together to make the most impressive podcasts for the gaming community. Both of their intellects really shine through in this interview and it was both a pleasure and an enlightening listening experience!
I feel this guy in some ways. I have my life figured out in some ways but the existential crisis is always there. The desire to serve and find purpose while at the same time feeling astonishingly lazy is also there.
lol, that one got me too. personally, i'm lazy, but i'll try find a work around that doesn't require much work. for example, my car ac leaks, but i just refill it every other year, while struggling a bit on the off year and just not have the ac working as it should.
Carlos I think that’s the human mindset from old times. Less equals less calories burned. Unfortunately with fast food and all the convenience of modern times, it ain’t working out for some 😂
That was the most relatable conversation yet, I've never heard things I thought of and struggled with exactly word for word from someone else, the way Asmon talked about death and laziness really clicked with me even though my circumstance is different. That might've been the most helpful talk because of that for me personally, thank you Dr K and everyone involved in making it possible.
I'm sure many philosophers have said similar things, I heard Ricky Gervais say something similar actually XD about how death isn't a big deal, the earth existed for billions of years before us and will after us, we are just a moment something like that
many people have probably thought of this but the only one i know of is Mark Twain who has the famous quote "I do not fear death. I had been dead for billions and billions of years before I was born, and had not suffered the slightest inconvenience from it." Another quote from him that i think suits this interview well is "The fear of death follows from the fear of life. A man who lives fully is prepared to die at any time. " Asmond seems to believe this, but then because of it he concludes "damn, i must not be living fully!" and it's giving him stress.
I love Asmon. When his chat isn't feeding into like this internet character, he's genuinely a well spoken, well thought guy. Physical laziness, so spends more time on opinionated and well rounded thoughts.
If you would like to see more of this side he has a dedicated yt channel for "Zack" ... cant really remember the exact name though! I totally switched from streams to watching more of this side, i really like it! :)
I absolutely love Dr. K saying “laziness is not a thing.” I think laziness and being lazy is a good label to motivate and maybe necessarily shame into action, but so many lazy people are fearful or just intelligent. There’s a lot of work to do in the world at any given moment. If you get everything done perfectly without any shortcuts, you’re a damn genius. I think either you’re a genius, without any unprocessed trauma, or some kind of robot program. Procrastinating is debilitating fear and lack of self respect, it’s some way of cutting your wings to prevent what potentially could be some beautiful, capable flight.
The more i get to know the genuine Zack, the more I just love him to death. He's so intelligent, quick witted and funny, I love his personality and character. He's so fuckin cool
You can really tell how intelligent Asmon is by his ability to admit when he doesn’t know something. He doesn’t need to try and bullshit you into thinking he has all the answers or he’s intelligent, he’s always open to learning more.
@@adjbea4829 It is really quite funny that you say that because you can apply that same logic to other groups but then you would immediately be called the worst things under the sun. Grow up and realize that just like most groups you only really hear the vocal minority so painting vast amounts of people with generalizing strokes is intellectually lazy because its that same mentality that allows peoples to use those "frequently exhibited behaviours" to be racist.
Adj Bea Arriving at that conclusion is quite lazy and an overly simplified generalization. There are religious people who are close minded but there are close minded non-theists as well who are the inversed equivalent of their theist counterparts. You can’t judge an entire religion or group of people based on the radicals within said group. That’s like saying “black people are more inherently violent and genetically predisposed to committing crime. It’s frequently exhibited so I can conclude that they are more dangerous”. It’s incredibly ignorant to arrive at such short sighted conclusions like this without considering the external factors that contextualize the causation of said behaviour. Poverty, Economic, Social and political environments, lack of education or proper leadership, lack of health resources and support are the reason people are violent, not the colour of their skin or their religious beliefs. People who have experienced trauma or mental illness are far more susceptible to manipulation tactics and becoming the victim of cults or other predatory groups of people. Religion can be used for good or nefarious means, it really just depends how these people were indoctrinated growing up. It’s important to understand the good that has come from religion and how it’s helped people find the hope and reason to persist through life. It’s also equally important to recognize the flaws, primitive nature and atrocities that have been committed in the name of it. Recognize that religion doesn’t inherently create bad people, bad people just tend to use religion as an easy shield to justify their immoral behaviour. More often than not, these radicals are the very antithesis of the actual teachings and ideology that hail from the religious doctrine they claim to believe and live their lives in the name of.
Nick G Exactly! I really dislike that my comment praising Asmon for being a deep thinker and being an overall great human being has devolved into people bashing religion. It’s incredibly sad that these people are completely oblivious to the reality that they are the very embodiment of the same principles that they judge and hate in others.
I always thought Zack was intelligent, but I did not expect all of this from him. Listening to his thoughts and fears of death was fascinating. Probably my favorite interview yet.
@@isaiahdawkins5090 That's the bit, Isaiah. Dying is an experience we'll all have but death, actually *being dead*, isn't a 'thing' and therefore can't be experienced. It's like how one can experience falling asleep and dreaming, but you can't experience being asleep. The unexperience of being unborn is, effectively, the exact same as being dead. Unless you believe in an afterlife then all bets are off, I guess.
I do not want to impose religious beliefs upon others but in Islam it is mentioned in holy quran that people were dead then got revived then die then again get revived for the judgement day. I have no idea if the same info is shared in christianity or judaism.
@@zagranzon2464 As someone who may be considered Christian. The way I have always understood the bible's interpretation is that we are born, we die and our souls are kept at rest or in purgatory until judgement day, then we are also resurrected (or at least no longer in limbo).
But Tim, i think is completly unlogical, cuz you can't be dead if yoy don't exist, i mean Death as itself, in someway, a prove, guarantee of your existing, even you lived like 1 second, and then died, so i think its unlogical to say that you (in theory) was experience dead , because of non-existing.
I'm not following Asmongold as a streamer or wow in general, but damn he's beautiful, not talking about his apperance but him, he's just very chill, has very relatable thoughts and problems, he's a guy i wish could be even happier.
Yea I never play wow but I've learned so much about it just because I watch him. He's very insightful, although, like everyone, he can also be ignorant.
@@micahgmiranda I'd say there is no such person on this planet who if plays competitive video games all day for weeks, won't have toxic moments, that's just the nature of it, that doesn't mean you are a bad person, but having bad times sometimes.
really wish there was a conversation dedicated to talking about attachment to life like they did here, the way asmon expressed his fear of death is just about my only really extreme fear and i’d like to hear more about it from someone else that isn’t me since it’s basically the only thing that i so strongly fear that it’s almost guaranteed to send me into panic, i’m not really able to think it through and put the fear aside on my own. hearing someone else talk about it at all is really valuable to me
I'd look up philosophy about the value of life itself. I used to be scared of death (had to get a cancer test, got the results after two weeks that I don't have it) and during that time I read up upon the value of life and living and embracing the positive sides of life. Death is inevitable but making the best of your life and finding new appreciation for the good things your life has to offer makes you see life with different goggles.
You should check out Dr K's session with Jake and Bake. They talked about this too. In a way, all fear stems from the fear of death, it's the one definitive thing we all share.
Hey, I'm a bit late since you posted your comment 2 weeks ago, but I really would like to recommend you to read about the philosopher Montaigne and his Esseys, in particularly the one named "That to Philosophize is to Learn to Die". It helped me a lot and the autor himself to deal and cope with this question. Cheers!
Hearing Asmongold's story just hits too close to home. I have a similar background, but I grew up in Germany and actually in the richer parts of Germany too, but me and my family were actually on the poor end compared to almost all of my classmates in school. Sometimes it was just soul crushing for me when I heard from my parents how other parents viewed them and talked behind their backs about them, when I couldn't take the school trip, or we financially struggled after paying for a school trip. And then hearing other parents say that my parents were just being irresponsible with money or downright stupid while I was there watching my parents giving their all to give me a better shot at life just made me angry af.

I always thought of him as a weird messi Warcraft nerd. So I never bothered to actually watch his streams or even listen to him. But this was one of the most self-reflective but also open to new concepts guest Dr. K ever had on the show. Huge respect to him and how open he is with himself and also sharing it to that many people.
I actualy look alot of asmon video when he's talking about stuff other than wow. I don't like wow, but i like Zack. His ability to see both side of a point and keeping a neutral state of mind even if he got his own opinion is pretty amazing.
Yeah his level-mind shows in everything he does. and the topics he talks about. he usually plays WoW in the background while adressing the games issues or twitch issues etc etc
i also had a tremendous fear of losing memories when i was youngerm then i spent a month documenting as many memories as i could and i realized it was way too time consuming, and was preventing me from being in the present. i am now ok with forgetting things and im trying to live in the present
Those closing thoughts at the end were the cherry on top for this behavioural equation model, I replayed that section 3 times over, starting and stopping while taking notes. I think I might make a template out of it
The way he describes his fear of dying is identical to mine and I don't know if I've heard someone else explain it the same as he has and it is so relatable. My existential dread holds my happiness back because it is always just below the surface of my mind and I can lay and bed and really panick. Sometimes I go through periods of time that I'm better at controlling it but other times I just can't. Thank you for sharing your fear so openly. It helps knowing I'm not alone in this fear.
I find I've way more existential dread since I was about 16. Not sure if it was when I became atheist or just your critical thinking is developed/developing by then.
I've avoided watching this since I've seen it originally uploaded because I knew how much it was going to resonate with me. The whole metaphor with the bladder and laziness really opened my eyes. It's exactly what I've been going through; I started out my first year of college with excellent grades, but now this laziness has taken over me. I know my school work needs to get done, but I don't even care about it until I'm desperate when everything is due and I don't know why. This was an excellent interview.
@hodge2739 I actually re-enrolled as of this year and am going for psychology, after seeing how much therapy helped me after doing it for a year. Going pretty damn good so far!
Same... To this day I still act or change things only if it feels that I can't take it anymore or that is 100% a necessary step. Otherwise, I don't even think about the things I should do
1:54:16 Idk why but at the moment you're both closing your eyes I felt some inner peace that revealed me why I can't get shit done. Thank you very much for this video, I tried to answer all the questions before asmon while pausing the video and I did my own drawing about + and - around my own lazyness. That really gives me as you said "the road map" and there's no words to thank you enough, you helped me to save myself, I'll never forget about the two of you
This whole conversation has made me have a personal reflection about why I've been putting off so many things that could've made my current situation easier than it is
It’s kinda funny when you think about the fact that we’re all human and we all go through similar struggles. We’re all unique individuals, but we have similar and equally challenging obstacles.
First time watching Dr. K, popped up on my feed because of Asmon. This was the first time i've watched a 2 hour long video start to finish. I can relate to all of this on so many levels, better than my therapist.
My eldest (son) sent me this video. I watched the whole thing as well, which speaks volumes. The older I get, the shorter my attention span becomes. I usually groan if a video is 20 minutes long lol. I was captivated throughout this entire video. I immediately subscribed and I plan on watching others.
I could only imagine how much you would it cost for a session like this with the usual psychiatrist. All the best to you Dr. K. Thank you for all your contribution to humanity
this is worth like either 12 sessions of 30mins with a regular psychiatrist, or like 2-4 sessions with a super top tier reputed guy with a waiting list of 3 years. it's insane that we're getting that quality, for free, and with such a wide spread... but that's also why it works so efficiently !! WITH GEN-Z HAS COME THE TIME OF AOE HEALING BABY!!! (...+war + climate disregulation + the end of finite ressources + the return of fascism ... but ya know... SOME things can be positive.)
I must admit, Asmon is a much more introspective and knowledgeable person in matters of philosophy than i had imagined. I am delighted to have my social image of him shattered.
" I guess you could say I had experience with death because before 1990 I did not exist" That's one of the most profound takes on death I've ever heard and I did not expect it out of Asmon. I know that Asmon is smarter than people give him credit for, but that line actually blew me away.
It was the opposite for me because to imply that someone or something is dead means they had to be alive. You can't kill someone or something that isn't alive yet. This isn't to take anything away from asmongold's intellect though, because he is definetly a smart guy.
@@yousefmedhat6379 If you think about death as the state, rather than a tense of die, then the line can almost begin to nearly kinda make sense possibly.
It's a pretty common concept as an answer in the Theistic/Atheistic community to the "What happens after you die?" question: "The same as before I was born". Dunno if he took it from there tho
I don't think it was the sun :P I think it was Asmon who kinda messed with the computer effects and turned the brightness up or something. Pure gold hahaha Love how can you have an interesting and profound conversation with some laughter mixed up.
I know this is somewhat old, but your candor in this interview and willingness to do a public therapy session is wonderful and I'm grateful for it. Be good to yourself. ✌
It's crazy how Asmongold is so well spoken and mindful while the WoW forums and WoW reddit constantly put him down as stupid and so on. But then we have Athene, desperately trying to portray himself as a high intellectual where in fact he is literally insane with god complex and at best average IQ - has a cult like following where people basically worship him.
People don't really have an eye for intelligence once it's too far beyond their own. I think we can recognise intelligence that's moderately higher than us, and then beyond that it can start to sound stupid because we can't follow along.
It's always nice to watch two intelligent human beings talk about their live experiences and their problems to understand why is that an why is that.I wish to talk about things with Zack, he seems like he enjoys to talk about things and speculate about them. And the way doc. takes that talk and compare it into WoW is perfect, cos Zack can relate to this alot and it all makes sense lul. What a guy !!!
Please make this happen again and talk about how he didn’t shower for a month and a half. This is some of the BEST content I have ever come across. Genuine conversations with logical pathways surrounding mental health with the gaming community. My hat is tipped to you sir. Thank you.
Man every single one of these is so great. I love how there's so many different streamers with different varying problems that resonates with everyone in a different way. It's like getting second hand psycology.
So for me the most mindblowing part was that dr. K. Came up with his own meditation technique which is specialized for asmongolds needs and problems in a very 5 head way. Like a comedien who combines his whole story with a joke in the end which is connected to the beginning.
31:09 "I think we can do that for a couple minutes and then go back to laziness". Wow, he summed up my life. I relate so much to this because I'm really lazy as well and all I did in my 27 years of my life was pretty much playing games and spend time with friends, I tried to study but I'm not very good at it and I don't really care that much. I'm very happy and I'm grateful with my parents because they're very understanding of my philosophy of life and what I do.
27:28 Asmongold: *drops mic* Interviewer: Damn nobody gave me an answer like this before, i wanted this conversation to point in a different direction. 27:43: *smiles at god*
i like the discussion about enlightenment vs laziness. accepting things you cant change, vs accepting things you could change, is a very slippery slope
28:30 omg thats tale of princess kaguya. tldr: She came from the moon where everyone is emotionless and cold, she wanted to go to earth to experience the joy of living, she was sprouted out of a bamboo..A farmer and his wife raised her to become a princess. at the end the drama happens because it was a temporary journey she had to go back to the moon and leave behind everything she had on earth, the joy, experiences and the like..sadd
Amazing stream/video, probably the best thing I've watched in years. In Dutch we have a different word for existential and emotional happiness, 'gelukkig' and 'blij' respectively. Wish there were words for that in English because they are really different, as proven in this stream.
I could really use the talk about Death and coming to terms with it. Been a real struggle for me for the last few years so I would find it very helpful.

AND then making sure you don't use them as an excuse for reverting back those changes (I'm cooking better know, today I just wanna eat whatever, and the next day as well, and the next next next)
All of this takes conscious effort, and that's why I like the meditation technique Dr.
K video with another streamer talking about mental issues you might relate to or mental issues in general you get a stronger connection with your automatically thinking and organizing mind because you start changing they way you think personally and seeing what you thought was non existent inside you.

zack is too intelligent for his own good, it's actually fairly amazing to watch dr k do his work and reach the end game within 20~ minutes compared to most people lacking the ability to understand basic components of life, this episode is AMAZING.

I had been dead for billions and billions of years before I was born, and had not suffered the slightest inconvenience from it."
Another quote from him that i think suits this interview well is "The fear of death follows from the fear of life. A man who lives fully is prepared to die at any time.

Opposite of religious people
@@andrewhandelsman834 thats a broad brush stroke you are painting religious people with
@@adjbea4829 It is really quite funny that you say that because you can apply that same logic to other groups but then you would immediately be called the worst things under the sun.

That's the bit, Isaiah.

Yeah, theres plenty of that kind, looking down on other families.. Hate that kind, they have no life and do such things.
@Ash Yes but it could also be true. So don't bother commenting if you think it's made up
@Ash Bet YOU are made up. 🥴🙃
Hmmm.... but were they irresponsible with money tho?

This interview highlights exactly what makes Asmon so likeable. He's an amalgamation of all of us.
Like some sort of Asmongamation
I love how slowly and precisely Asmon speaks. Destiny could learn from him.
lmao
Hey - nice Jesus Raptor
Sure, but where destiny lacks precise speech, asmongold lacks any kind of real, researched foreknowledge on the topic he's speaking on.
Destiny said the reason he speaks fast is becuase he got use to people cutting him off mid sentence and had to speak faster to get his point across. He does debates, most people interrupt as soon as they hear somthing they dont agree on.
@John Smitty and he's still 10x more of an intellectual than Asmon will ever be. LMAO.

He is very self aware
Leo Messi?
Yeah his level-mind shows in everything he does. and the topics he talks about. he usually plays WoW in the background while adressing the games issues or twitch issues etc etc
respect yourself for being self-reflective and open-minded enough to watch this video and have your own view changed.
i also had a tremendous fear of losing memories when i was youngerm then i spent a month documenting as many memories as i could and i realized it was way too time consuming, and was preventing me from being in the present. i am now ok with forgetting things and im trying to live in the present

Its disturbing how much I can relate to this, almost the same position minus the success...
Same.
Lmao

Why does it disturb you?

I've avoided watching this since I've seen it originally uploaded because I knew how much it was going to resonate with me. The whole metaphor with the bladder and laziness really opened my eyes. It's exactly what I've been going through; I started out my first year of college with excellent grades, but now this laziness has taken over me. I know my school work needs to get done, but I don't even care about it until I'm desperate when everything is due and I don't know why. This was an excellent interview.
How'd school go for ya? I hope it worked out 💪
@hodge2739 I actually re-enrolled as of this year and am going for psychology, after seeing how much therapy helped me after doing it for a year. Going pretty damn good so far!

First time watching Dr. K, popped up on my feed because of Asmon. This was the first time i've watched a 2 hour long video start to finish. I can relate to all of this on so many levels, better than my therapist.
All of his interviews are amazing, enjoy!
My eldest (son) sent me this video. I watched the whole thing as well, which speaks volumes. The older I get, the shorter my attention span becomes. I usually groan if a video is 20 minutes long lol.
I was captivated throughout this entire video.

Ialsohighighted this in my notes.

I'm pretty sure athene is just a character. them kids and all that
This Doctor have 10000 more problems..then Asmongold lol
People don't really have an eye for intelligence once it's too far beyond their own. I think we can recognise intelligence that's moderately higher than us, and then beyond that it can start to sound stupid because we can't follow along.

So for me the most mindblowing part was that dr. K. Came up with his own meditation technique which is specialized for asmongolds needs and problems in a very 5 head way. Like a comedien who combines his whole story with a joke in the end which is connected to the beginning.

"I think we can do that for a couple minutes and then go back to laziness". Wow, he summed up my life.
I relate so much to this because I'm really lazy as well and all I did in my 27 years of my life was pretty much playing games and spend time with friends, I tried to study but I'm not very good at it and I don't really care that much. I could really use the talk about Death and coming to terms with it. Been a real struggle for me for the last few years so I would find it very helpful.
