    Its really astonishing to me that a guy who usually gets potrayed as this kind of degenerate nerd streamer by the Twitch Community, is actually one of the mentally healthiest/smartest/most upright people Dr. K has ever interviewed. many people have probably thought of this but the only one i know of is Mark Twain who has the famous quote "I do not fear death. I had been dead for billions and billions of years before I was born, and had not suffered the slightest inconvenience from it."
      Another quote from him that i think suits this interview well is "The fear of death follows from the fear of life. A man who lives fully is prepared to die at any time.
      " Asmond seems to believe this, but then because of it he concludes "damn, i must not be living fully!" and it's giving him stress.

      I have spend the past 25 yrs with the mindset of trying everything atleast once. I basicly wan't to taste everything life has to offer that I am curious about before it is over. I love music and being social and laughing with friends and also strangers so I was instantly attracted to music festivals.
      I have been to dozens of weeklong festivals and seen hundreds and hundreds of concerts. All in som varying degree of intoxication and euphoria.
      There is SO much I don't remember, but also SO much I do... Some things I know I have done, but I won't remember when or where. Other things I remember when and where but not with who or how I got there. Some thing are decades old but clear as yesterday and other things I only remember when someone I barely remember tells about me doing it.
      Life and memory is random. But it is being kept alive by remembering and talking about the experiences with friends and strangers.
      I allways tell stories of where I've been, what I've tried or seen or learned. Iand I love hereing stories from others because it reminds me of similar experiences of my own.
      Thats my BrainVlog. -Because I am too caught up in the moment to remember being my own cameraman...

      It’s important to preserve those moments but I think the real point is to truly enjoy them as they happen. Reliving them later is amazing…but obviously humans were never supposed to be able to relive an experience or time. The fact we can may or may not be a good thing.

    I absolutely love Dr. K saying “laziness is not a thing.” I think laziness and being lazy is a good label to motivate and maybe necessarily shame into action, but so many lazy people are fearful or just intelligent. There’s a lot of work to do in the world at any given moment. If you get everything done perfectly without any shortcuts, you’re a damn genius. I think either you’re a genius, without any unprocessed trauma, or some kind of robot program. Procrastinating is debilitating fear and lack of self respect, it’s some way of cutting your wings to prevent what potentially could be some beautiful, capable flight.

    • @Jonsoner
      @Jonsoner 4 роки тому +3

      @@psd90 The way I see it, there is the way you think, and the way you think you think. The more in tune you are with the reality of your way of thinking (let's use the video terminology, the roots of the problems) the more you can consciously be aware of the way you function.
      The more aware you are in the way you function allows you to take actions on the branches or even the roots and work towards being the desired you. For example, I feel really in tune with Asmon with the way that laziness gives way to efficiency and a lack of future thinking.
      So, I am PERFECTLY happy just eating pasta and red sauce everyday for the rest of my life. I don't really have this need that people have to eat healthy or just good food when I can be "lazy", eat whatever and not spend an hour of my day cooking/eating and play vidyas or read or whatever. So, being aware of this (and due to a roommate that believes that living like this is a travesty) I had a "moment of enlightenment", watched a bunch of youtube cooking videos like Internet Shaquile, Babish, and random shit and now I try to make simple but tasty meals.
      I get a sense of satisfaction of making something good, of having my roommate try something of mine, getting feedback, sharing a meal, inviting people to eat, etc. This has given me constant positive feelings and improved my life. Now I'm working on another branch which is making healthier food, to eventually make some changes in the root problem of my life which would be laziness and procrastination as conformism.
      In short, you can't force yourself to a moment of enlightenment. But you can alter a little tiny bit the way you think, to foster their occurrence more. AND then making sure you don't use them as an excuse for reverting back those changes (I'm cooking better know, today I just wanna eat whatever, and the next day as well, and the next next next)
      All of this takes conscious effort, and that's why I like the meditation technique Dr. K gave Asmon. To stop once in a while and reevaluate.
      This is the end of my TED talk, have a nice day. I'mma make some vegetarian burritos.

      well I must say that the speech was fascinating and a look into what I said or a..interpretation might I say, which is kinda accurate of my belief in how the mind works.
      but what I meant is that that you wouldn't necessarily get frightened by a lion for example if you think that you're not and you believe it to be true. but the mind thinks otherwise once you experience being in front of a lion so...
      in a sense you can make yourself look delusional by thinking over your personal thoughts when in reality the mind functions on it's own taking what it knows from your experiences with certain things deciding what your natural thoughts will be.
      A homophobic person doesn't necessarily hate gay men because he thinks it is weird, sometimes his mindset is naturally that way.
      So you could sit in your room thinking that you know yourself well but then when you're watching a dr. K video with another streamer talking about mental issues you might relate to or mental issues in general you get a stronger connection with your automatically thinking and organizing mind because you start changing they way you think personally and seeing what you thought was non existent inside you.

      That's the bit, Isaiah. Dying is an experience we'll all have but death, actually *being dead*, isn't a 'thing' and therefore can't be experienced. It's like how one can experience falling asleep and dreaming, but you can't experience being asleep.
      The unexperience of being unborn is, effectively, the exact same as being dead. Unless you believe in an afterlife then all bets are off, I guess.

    The main thing stemming from this point is not to narrow down the branches of problems down to a main branch of laziness, but to draw a big thick line as your lifetime and each subsequent branch a lifestyle choice. The enlightenment of how you perceive, deceive, and eventually fix your problems stems from realizing the lifestyle choice you made to create that branch and awareness of the other choices you're able to make to remove that branch.

      @@adjbea4829 It is really quite funny that you say that because you can apply that same logic to other groups but then you would immediately be called the worst things under the sun. Grow up and realize that just like most groups you only really hear the vocal minority so painting vast amounts of people with generalizing strokes is intellectually lazy because its that same mentality that allows peoples to use those "frequently exhibited behaviours" to be racist.

    • @rainlakuma6443
      @rainlakuma6443 4 роки тому +3

      Adj Bea Arriving at that conclusion is quite lazy and an overly simplified generalization. There are religious people who are close minded but there are close minded non-theists as well who are the inversed equivalent of their theist counterparts. You can’t judge an entire religion or group of people based on the radicals within said group. That’s like saying “black people are more inherently violent and genetically predisposed to committing crime. It’s frequently exhibited so I can conclude that they are more dangerous”. It’s incredibly ignorant to arrive at such short sighted conclusions like this without considering the external factors that contextualize the causation of said behaviour. Poverty, Economic, Social and political environments, lack of education or proper leadership, lack of health resources and support are the reason people are violent, not the colour of their skin or their religious beliefs. People who have experienced trauma or mental illness are far more susceptible to manipulation tactics and becoming the victim of cults or other predatory groups of people. Religion can be used for good or nefarious means, it really just depends how these people were indoctrinated growing up. It’s important to understand the good that has come from religion and how it’s helped people find the hope and reason to persist through life. It’s also equally important to recognize the flaws, primitive nature and atrocities that have been committed in the name of it. Recognize that religion doesn’t inherently create bad people, bad people just tend to use religion as an easy shield to justify their immoral behaviour. More often than not, these radicals are the very antithesis of the actual teachings and ideology that hail from the religious doctrine they claim to believe and live their lives in the name of.
