The places musicians will go for decent acoustics.
You are dam straight. It’s all about the surround sound not the looks👍🏻👍🏻
bathrooms with tiles tho ahaha🥵
Doesn't seem like they're playing it live in location
Lol
@@erniearruda8861 hey they still look good there.
I had the privilege of being Ethan’s high school band director. I am so proud. I have no words. The power of music. How it moves us. Bravo to everyone.
Who is ethan
@@stephaniecurry45 read the description
How it moves us, indeed. I’ve recently discovered my love of performing and wish I never forgotten it!
Hs band director with mando & groku as his profile…could I please have one of those, too?
Sure you are
Anyone else just get this in their recommendations and enjoyed listening to it?
Yes. And I’m so glad I did!
Yes, absolutely!
Holy shit, that first cannon made me drop my biscuit.
Remember to wipe it off before you finish eating it
Can you imagine the people driving by?
@@trumpet5565 or walking their dogs in the background, or the joggers wearing earbuds who don't know what they're missing!
@Josh - Yeah, at first I thought some truck on the freeway had a blowout! Look at the camera shakes (not available at all Baskin-Robbins)!
How about the way the camera shook each time the cannon went off. It was almost like you felt it too.
1:27 Omg, that overtone high F.
heard that! was like WTF!
for a sec i thought i was a trumpet and was like...
that ain’t no overtone that’s an actual high f 😧
Nah someone was definitely playing that
And at 7:04
The two on the right
"Well, one of us is gonna have to change"
Arranging a full orchestral score to a single instrument ensemble is extremely challenging, especially making it sound good. This was fantastic.
Me: idk why there’s boss music keeps playing when I’m on a highway.
*meanwhile under that highway*
Trombone Choir always sounds like the gates of Heaven opening. Chills me to my core. I play trumpet. Should have picked this absolutely angelic instrument.
I was originally suitable for the trombone, for some reason I choose the trumpet
Noo trumpets are fantastic please take it back 😂
@@jaypoz3955 Listen to a good trombone choir in person, then a trumpet ensemble. They're not even in the same ballpark. I love my instrument to death but trombone is better.
I am a horn player but when it comes to single instrument brass choirs, the trombone is the best as their range is excellent and they don't lose power in the lower registers. Tubas are too low, trumpets are too high and horns lose their bass voice if not careful and we lack the clarity of the start of each note. I love all of the brass and wish I could play the trombone but I lack the air due to asthma. (At least I can still play the horn and trumpet professionally).
@@chandlerzimmerman9857 I know exactly what you mean. A trumpet ensemble can sound great but it lacks the bass. A trombone choir gives us the bass as well and yet can play high enough to where they can sound like a horn or even a trumpet.
Wow, great sound and outstanding musicality. Trombone ensembles are in my opinion the only « same instrument band » that work: you can have the zing in high notes as a trumpet, are able to produce big fat low notes and always this nice mellow sound. Bravo !
Agreed this might quality playing by such phenomenal ensemble should be publicised to wider audience
I'd throw cello ensemble into the row - also a huge range of height and tone quality 😁
6:35 Absolute chills, that made me ascend into another world
RIGHT?? it's so grand and whole
Back in the late 70s, I auditioned for Pershing's Own as a bass trombonist. No, I didn't make it, but it was an honor just to make the cut for the audition. Great trombone choir!!!
It be like that sometimes
I was listening to this at full volume because of those awesome chords...but 8:00 scared the crap out of me. Thanks LOL!
This was surely the instrumentation Tchaikovsky had in mind when composing this. ... God’s favorite, the trombone! Thanks for posting.
Man i am obsessed with this song for some reason
I had already decided before watching that I was going to comment about being angry at no cannons... but then there were cannons.
I had no idea that the Woodrow Wilson bridge could be such an amazing place
Bravo. I played alongside the low brass team during a couple of euph &tuba conferences back in the 90s. Happy days with the superb musicians from Pershings USMCB and USAF. I was visiting with the Royal Marines Band.
I was waiting for the cannons so long, that I forgot they were a thing until they finally went off
This absolutely made my day. Started playing Trombone in high school, then in college. I got sick halfway through getting my degree in music education and never got to go back. Brass is my world, especially trombone. You did the best thing a musician can do to their audience. You brought out so many emotions in me, it made me cry. Kudos.
I have been a little obsessed with the 1812 overture lately for some reason, so knowing how sophisticated this song is. I am truly impressed by how good this really is being just all trombones.
Couldn't help but watch all the people in the background just passing on by... I would have stopped and stayed for the concert. Makes me want to pick my trumpet back up and go find an underpass to blow the dust out of it. Bravo~ GO BRASS or GO HOME!
827 likes, 0 dislikes. I have never seen that on UA-cam before. That says it all.
This video is so underrated.
Fantastic rendition. I thought I would miss the tuba, but the bass trombonist did a great job of filling in the bottom end of the piece.
Great Job
Good try by trombone but when BASS need.......
Katie, Ken and I listened to this together today. WOW! We are both so proud of you! Ken says the other guys did ok, too. 😉 Thank you all for your service to our country, to the art of trombone performance and music in general!
Thanks so much, Mr. Spitler!! You two are responsible for starting all of this for me! 😆❤️
@@katiethigpen3479 what a wholesome interaction. You did sound amazing
@@katiethigpen3479 I am left wondering who Ken and John are, but I am glad they started all of that for you. 🙂 (I'm guessing former teachers.)
@johnspitler6529 @katiethigpen3479 Katie plays like how we all try to sound in our heads - amazing! Seeing you two connect through music and technology is amazing considering there wasn't even WiFi in the band room back then. The power of music has a reach now that we could barely dream of back then, and how fortunate that you ended up in my UA-cam feed!
@@samneverleft10 Is this Sam the percussionist, from Moultrie?
One of my biggest fears is putting my instrument away once I’m out of college and never getting it out again. I never want to lose the joy it brings me.
Man i feel you.
THAT WAS SPECTACULAR!!!!! WONDERFUL JOB AND OUTSTANDING ARRANGEMENT!!!!
Fantabulous! Magnificent! The power and versatility of the trombone wondrously demonstrated. Superb job!
Wowza!
I just played this for my wife who marched with The Phantom Regiment Drum & Bugle Corp ‘83-84. This is one of their signature pieces of music. Great job
Tchaikovsky ficaria orgulhoso de ver essa interpretação perfeita!!!
Actually no, sadly he hated this piece. I’m not sure why but I just know that this piece is known for the canons in it and Tchaikovsky hating his own piece
Just beautiful. I'd love to know what was used to record and mix it because the sound quality is amazing. A big part of that is obviously the quality of the players and I'll presume that the location was also chosen for COVID and the acoustics (And not the occasional passers-by! I liked Umbrella Guy the best, btw). As a former brass player in high school - back in the pleistocene era - I'm in awe. Great work to all of you.
If I had to guess, the audio was done elsewhere, video shot separately, and then synced up. This isn't universally done but it's very common. And before anyone complains--IMO there's nothing wrong with that practice.
Nah, the location was chosen because they needed somewhere they could fire the cannons
Kudos to you, Kyle Price for this arrangement, and Bravo!! to all the performers!! Such talent!
Marvelous sound quality and musicality. I especially enjoyed the low, low notes; such resonance!
Much gratitude for the effort to record this performance and post it for us here for all to enjoy. 🙏
This was fantastic. I got two kids playing trombones in high school. Great motivation for them.
Great to see the final product! All your hard work paid off. It's Excellent!
I know you’ve seen it progress over the months, thank you!
Who needs an orchestra when you have 7 trombones?
As a trombonist (been playing for 10 years,I play a shires horn with a hammond 11m mouthpiece) for anyone curious.
But this is such a beautiful arrangement and the bass trombonist has a beautiful tone and blends beautifully with the rest of the trombone choir.
The overtones are heart warmingly beautiful!
Love from Sweden
The cars above you: Where comes that beautiful melody?
Amazing video!
Playing any instrument well with total control is incredibly difficult. To play the trombone well is exceptionally difficult. It's rare that you hear the instrument truly played well. Intonation is the culprit - and mastering that on top of being able to produce an open even tone throughout the range is key. These players are absolutely first class trombonists. Bravo - extremely well done!
I wasn’t expecting those cannons but my god I felt it through my whole body
Simply wonderful! From a fellow trombonist, you do us all proud!
Simply Phenomenal. One of my all-time favorite pieces to listen to and to play as a trombonist. Trombone choir and 1812, can't get any better than that.
Jesus christ the cannon shots always catch me off guard, I was just admiring the quality of the sound and arrangement and then BOOM xD, very well done, thanks for uploading it, it would've also been nice to see you play with original video and sound, cheers
Needed this after another week of teaching band online. Thank you and beautiful!!!
Teaching online must be hard. I wish you the best of luck and thanks for bringing more kids into the power of music.
Played this in highschool Marching band, i played baritone. Still gives me chills! Amazing job!!!!!!
Fire for the soul. Awesome talent. Beautiful.
Hey, man! How great it is! I confess that I am surprised! Your performance is fabulous! Congratulations for the arranger also! He got to divide the main parts very well! I wish you all the sucess!
As a fellow trombonist, can I say a huge THANKYOU! Beautifully executed variety of tones. from the solo at 3m40 to the almost French horn legato around 4m30 - stunning technique.
@Neil Smith
Hi, Neil. Just as an FYI, you can make the numbers into a link by typing it like you're typing the time of day. So, "3m40" becomes 3:40, and in this way, readers of your comment can click the link and be instantly at the point in the video that you are commenting on.
Just a friendly FYI from a fellow trombonist! 🙂
That was absolutely stunning, bravo to all of you!
Holy moly why is this masterpiece not on Pershing’s Own channel? I was just wondering who’d have both the skill and the courage to take on such an ambitious piece with trombone only. Sure enough it’s my favorite musicians from my favorite military band!!! Bravo to you all!! 🎉
This is an amazing transcription and your performance makes me proud to be a trombone player; there is no need for no other stinkin instruments! Love the venue!
Absolutely incredible!! These trombonists are among the world's finest!
An amazing arrangement made by Kyle, I applaud all of the musicians. Fantastic stuff.
Good job, guys and the lady, it was a pleasure

My all-time favorite classical piece. I love hearing new arrangements and ideas for it.
Wow! 🤩 Cannon blasts to rattle the camera too! Nice job, great sound, excellent arrangement. Always Beware the trombones that live under the bridge!

FAN BLOODY TASTIC :)
The background must be added later--no one pays any attention. There is no way that people could not notice the magnificence of this fabulous performance!
Funny...That's exactly what they said about Pentatonix
It gives me chills hearing this piece. Great Job.
Beautiful audio and technique!! Wish I had a couple of these guys in our low brass section
