Nice to know that even the best are not immune to 'pinching' a note.
    That high F though!!

Tell me about it, and some of the slides were just a bit off on a few notes making them sound like minor chords instead of major - glad to see they are human but I expected more.

Trombones are about the only instrument that can mimic a human singing voice and guitar riffs. I saw a group do Freebird by Skynyrd once. Sounded good.

@@crollinsphoto Could the cold have been affecting the tuning? It’s been awhile since I’ve been in an ice rink, so no idea how cold it’d be where they were playing.

    One suggestion: more trombones :)

More cowbell! Great job. You have to love the "horny" sound you can get from a bone. Just can't get that sound from a trumpet.

Not really. Reaching that kind of range (and being able to play it with good tone quality) takes years of mastery level practice. I can play up to a D before I just end up screaming trying to hit higher, and I’m one of the top trombonists in my high school. Around 3,000 hours of accumulated practice.

I've been playing the trombone for 22 years. I was able to play the high F in high school. It is doable if you have a good teacher and live in the practice room. Staying relaxed is the key!

That F in 1:49 is to long, to loud and does not blend into rest of the Choir.

    • @kennethschechter352

That's a musical option in case u didnt hear it in the chord, high notes could be held out a little longer

    • @lukeroussy6479

I think that the leap to the high tonic typically should stick out. Many vocalists that adopt such a rendition of the anthem make a point of belting it and holding it out like a sore thumb. In fact, that high tonic is held over the word “free” in the phrase “O’er the land of the free...”. Such a musical amendment likely symbolizes a celebration and strong pride for the people’s freedom in the USA. I don’t see a reason not to be happy about living in a free country. In that case, the choir did a fine job.
