I had to watch this to compare to my grandfather s recipe. Lol his used whole vanilla bean and 6 months steep time. I of course went with pure extract, not patient. The one variance I did was to use brewed coffee instead of water and coffee crystals. A rich coffee flavor.
Thank you for sharing. Your recipe is much easier than mine. One thing I do is put a vanilla bean in the bottle. The longer the vanilla bean is in the kahlua, the richer the kahlua becomes.
Yes, I like. Definitely make it accessible is my motto. There's all sorts of fancy recipies, but they take an off-putting amount of time and expense for many of us out there, especially in these times unfortunate austerity.
when you stated that your husband said 'no' to buying the 915 all american pressure cooker for christmas should be a HUGE pat on the back for brian. because he loves his wife sooooooo much he said 'no just go ahead and get it'. Christmas is not about giving expensive items (cars, diamonds, excetera) just for that special day. true LOVE over rules consumer driven exploitation's. Bravo! Brian!
I suggest to help it's shelf life and taste, put about a marble size of dry ice in it. The dry ice will sublimate and displace the oxygen in the bottle. Once the dry ice has sublimated cap the bottle.
I'd recommend grinding coffee very coarse, like only breaking the beans into 3-4 parts and soaking the beans in some fairly neutral rum (e.g. B***rdi White). Leave the beans soaking for a month, then use paper filters to filter it. That will give you much better result than any kind of instant coffee. All the other things (sugar, vanilla) is fine.
very cool, thank you! Also I pove the Medaglia D'Oro espresso powder, I use it for anything, coffee yogurt, coffee ice cream, cake frosting... So good.
I wish they'd make a measuring cup where most of the liquid didn't run down the side! LOL Can't wait to try this. Been wanting to make my own kahlua for a really long time!
friends, if you want your kahlua to have viscosity like actual kahlua, just add 1 and a half cup of corn syrup instead of one of two cups of sugar, do everything else according to the recipe.
I wish I'd seen this before Christmas but it's still cold outside and that would sure go down easy! I'm going to check your Amazon site, I think it was an Amazon link, because I'm wondering where you got those containers. Will check the comments, too. Thank you!
Thanks for this recipe. Kahlua is so expensive and this is way more affordable. By the way, I am a new subscriber as of today. I just love how patient you are and how informative all your videos are. Keep being authentic!
It is so good! I made this with the Esspresso powder which is a little strong for me, but I know Brian and others love it. But be sure to try the Toasted Almond!
Well, aren't you the little bootlegger!!!! LOL I make moonshine and mead. It's kind of a family tradition. My mom's side of the family WERE bootleggers!!! They were from the bootheel of Missouri. They had a bootlegging operation since the 1800s. They also used to run their homemade hootch up to the speakeasies in St Louis and Chicago during the Prohibition. 😁😁😁
Not sure on this but you mightvwant to explore how your dried coffee was made. I understand that the process includes formaldehyde. If that is accurate, you may want to use the real thing. I condence my coffee in my percolator. The use of vanilla was a great idea. Thanks or sharing.
Real Kahlua is made with rum and that's what I put in mine. I'm not criticizing. I've tried it with vodka and it is much better with rum. Give it a try. It might change your mind.
The only alcohol I like at all is kaluha. I've made before. Was lovely neat but if added a mixer like coke it splits the recipe up and just tastes like rum and coke. Because although this lady is using vodka kaluha is actually made with white rum.
Rondon cat I seem to think the recipe I used before was a bottle white rum. Bottle dark rum. Brown sugar and white sugar. I couldnt get kaluha here in the uk. But I can now. And it's often on offer. Only reason I'm thinking of making some is caffeine keeps me awake all night. So making it I can use decaf 🤗🤗🤗
This sounds like it would taste like Tia Maria.. I'm definitely going to be trying this 😋😁👍 update.. Made it and it's so good and crazy savings making it yourself lol.. Thanks again for the recipe 😁
☕] " Vickie, thanks for sharing your recipe for Kahlua with your viewers. I have not had Kahlua in close to forty years and it is time to try it again ! " ... LoL
Hi I made your homemade Kahlua 4 days ago and it taste great, but today I noticed the sugar is settling in the bottom of the jar. I did boil the water and sugar an simmer 10 minutes. What can I do to fix this or what might I of done incorrect. Love your videos.
Thank you!! I knew there had to be a way.. I'm so glad I found your channel.. New year for me is March.. And, this and a few others of your recipes, will be on the cocktail table. Thank you for sharing. Subscribing
Vicki thanks for reply. I don't drink but would love to make this for Christmas gifts next year.if I made this in summer would it still be OK to drink at Christmas thanks
Mine has been at room temperature for over a year, and I recently smelled and tasted it, and it is still great. Probably because of the high alcohol content.
This was very interesting and very different then my recipe.. What was the proof of the vodka? I make mine w/ Everclear.. and it sits for a bit.. Yum.. looked very delicious.. and a nice after dinner drink. Thanks for sharing..

Or vaccum seal.
I last made Kahlua in the early 70's and lost the recipe. I'm so glad this popped up, now I can make it again. Thank you.
What a super recipe !
Thank you for sharing.
I appreciate this because I love kahlua but cant have caffeine at night . I can use decaf
Made both the amaretto and Kahlua for Christmas gifts 30 years ago. But I had to do it a month in advance and let them sit in the dark for a month.
I honestly didn't know kahlua was that easy to make and who cares what people think drink as much as you want... 👍👍👍👍

Why rum in place of vodka?
original Kailua is made, with rum. I preferit.
Omgosh my go to drink every time 😋😋😉😎
Thank you for teaching us

Thank you Vickie, Great video ! made me crave Kahlua Cream.
Also tell everyone they can add ice cream and blend it that’s even better.
❤️ Yummy!
I believe you just did!

Will do.Thank you👍👍
What if you add more sugar than water

Same coffee I use for my mocha fudge. People beat my door down for it!

Awesome work. You just saved me hundreds and hundreds dollars. My gf loves white Russian drinks!
How long of shelf life does this have ? Just wondering how far in advance I could make this and then give it for gifts at the holidays.
Just found you and what a delight you are!! Thank you!
I love Kahlua
You are adorable! It's no wonder why I love your channel.Merry Christmas!
LOL! Thank you, and Merry Christmas!
I always wondered how you use this stuff, I'm gonna try this, Merry Christmas.
We used to make these drinks years ago, and we haven’t had them for a while, but they are really good.
Kahlua is fantastic in a cup of coffee too. As much or as little as you like. Just pour it in and enjoy!
I want to use rum for a little more depth of flavor
Well, aren't you the little bootlegger!!!! LOL

Lovely simple video. Definitely going to make some. Subscribed!
That drink looks so delicious! I plan to make both of them just to make this drink. Love all your videos!

I’d try making this. ☕️
wow! I did not know you could make that at home. I love it!
🤗
You have inspired me to try to make Irish Creme, like the Baily's that they sell.
I did make that last year, and it was good!
Vickie's Country Home,
Is Irish Creme different than Bailey's Irish Creme ?
UNCLEDOUG SAYS ALL THAT WORK NO WAY I'AM GIVING AWAY A DROP !!! DRINKING ALL IT
Doug Harker,

Ty that's what I thought
Hmm make Kaluha with black rum and you could probably do so with lot less sugar and end up with a very interesting taste.
Rondon cat I seem to think the recipe I used before was a bottle white rum. Bottle dark rum. Brown sugar and white sugar. I couldnt get kaluha here in the uk. But I can now. And it's often on offer. Lol.. Awesome! Your improvising skills are truly appreciated..
You got my sub...... 👍
I thought Rum is in Kahlua?
How long can you store the Kalua ? Can you put it in a wine bottle and cork it?
I have stored mine for over a year. I suppose you could.

Hello!
Very easy! I guess you can replace the vodka with Brandy, rum, or wisky; wright?
liked your channel very much.

Great for anyone allergic to caramel color
Now real Kailua is made with rum. this will have a noticeable taste difference.
I’m not a drinker but that toasted almond recipe sounded SO good, I may have to make my own alcohols and try it. Lol 😂

Vicki thanks for reply. I don't drink but would love to make this for Christmas gifts next year.if I made this in summer would it still be OK to drink at Christmas thanks
I naturally can’t guarantee it, but I will say that I made this a year ago, and it still tastes amazing.
Love you lady, hope you have a blessed Christmas
Thank you Bev! Love you too, and wish you a blessed Christmas, and a happy, healthy New Year!
Nice video can I put Indian coffee instead of instant coffee n how much
Hi new sub here Where did you purchase those beautiful decanters with the safety lids? Love the video.
Can I just make coffee and use that instead of instant? I have so much in my cabinet....
I let mine ripen for 3 weeks but I use different ingredients all together.
Where did you get those glasses with the tops for your 🎁 presents. I love to get some.
These are Kilner decanters that I bought at World Market.
I can't wait to make this. I was biting my nails. Worried you might ruin your beautiful sweater.
Where did you get the bottles
These are Kilner canning bottles that I bought at World Market.
Does it need to be refrigerated and how long does it stay good?
No, I don’t refrigerate it, and it stays good for quite a while.
Looks amazing! Have you ever tried making it with decaf?
Thank you! No, but I don’t see why you couldn’t.
Any particular reason you used Vodka instead of Rum, which is the base for the real Kailua?
Oh my! 🤤
Hello. How long does this last?
Just found your channel ! It's a
gem💎for sure. Is possible to use concentrated(liquid)
☕ coffee? If so,what ratios?
I haven’t tried it, but I would go by taste. My favorite method! 🤗
I want to make Irish Cream...
YUM!🌺
If you mix coffee in cold water before blending it you won't get the foam.
May I ask where did you get that nice tall bottle with the hinged lid?
I purchased mine from World Market, but I believe Amazon has them. Let me know if you would like a link for it.
I sure was wondering what the name of the drink was!
can you use decaff coffee I am very sensitive to caffeine
I would guess that you can.
Does the kahlua need to be refrigerated or is it shelf-safe in a closed container?
I can tell you instant coffee and sugar in water will mold so this probably will too.
Mine has been at room temperature for over a year, and I recently smelled and tasted it, and it is still great. Probably because of the high alcohol content.
Can you send the drink to Memphis Tennessee??
🤗😂
This was very interesting and very different then my recipe.. What was the proof of the vodka? I make mine w/ Everclear.. and it sits for a bit.. Yum.. looked very delicious.. and a nice after dinner drink. Thanks for sharing..
Just normal vodka, not sure of the proof, but I am positive that it is lower proof than Everclear!
My sister loves this in her coffee so I’m going to make this up and surprise her. How long does it last in the frig.
I kept mine in a cabinet at room temperature for over a year.
