I made this. Best I found. I'm adding it to my Recipe book. But who gets the credit for this recipe? I have also a bunch made with Vanilla Beans. Thank you so much for this Recipe. 🎉❤😊
Thank you, Regina. Honestly, not sure who to credit. My dad was making it like this over 60 years ago. I got the recipe from him. He gave me a recipe that uses beans as well, takes a month to extract the flavor.
@Master of Nothing I make Vanilla extract. It takes about 1-2 yrs with beans. Too long. However, I made Your recipe and added Vanilla beans. But I couldn't find your recipe with the VB But the Kahlúa is great 👍 If you can send me your link for Vanilla Bean Kalúla. Thank you. 😊
Ethanol turns to vapor at 168°F. Cool sugar mixture to 150°F and you're good to go. Also boiling the sugar water inverts the sugar. For those fermenting (e.g. wine) this inversion allows the yeast to immediately began consuming it, greatly reducing the "lag time".
Great video and very interesting. It was interesting for me because my wife drinks Kahlua (or did until the grandkids came to live with us 3 years ago) and I was curious on how it was made. Thanks for the recipe Darrell.
I want to be your friend. Lol. Just watched your video for the first time. I make my own recipe with 1 liter of Vodka and half a liter Everclear. Some times I do rum. But I try to stay true to the recipe. I have been looking for something to add to it and you just got me excited to try it this year. Will let you know how it comes out. Thanks for the recipe.
It does sound like a lot of sugar, but you are making about a gallon of Kahlua. You only us about 2 ounces to make a drink, so not so bad I think. Thanks for watching! 😁
@@trishmatthews1218 we've had it on the shelf for at least a couple months. I'll be making some tomorrow. Its a Christmas tradition! Really glad you tried it and like it. Enjoy!!
Well, this does have brandy in addition to the vodka. I don't ever drink it straight, so I don't really notice it being thin. I'm sure there are many great recipes out there. Good luck on finding one that you love!😁
I would go further and highly recommend some good strong homemade vanilla, brewed no less than 3-6 months. You’ll be glad you did! Just remember, use Grade A to minimum Grade B vanilla beans 1 oz beans split down center to 8 Oz 70 proof or max 100 proof liquor, vodka, rum, bourbon or brandy.
We have a couple of liquor outlets that carry it. Total Wine and More, and Bevmo. If you don't have those, maybe you can buy it online. I usually buy the Hiram Walker brand. Good luck!
Great video and an even better T-shirt!!!!
Thanks! Long time Zappa fan.
Love the Zappa tee! Great recipe. Greetings from 🇨🇦
Thanks! Been a Zappa fan since mid 70's. If you check my other videos you'll see lots of Zappa paraphernalia! 😁
👀 for this coment
Thank you for the recipe :) I'm going to make some for my daughter for Christmas! :)
Merry Christmas :)
Great! Hope you love it. Merry Christmas!
I use to make this exact same recipe but lost it,,, I will lock this away now... best recipe on the planet!!! Thank you.
Love the Zappa t-shirt and facial hair!!
I'm a bit of a Zappa fan. 😁
I love the way you say it's going to be a little stronger than the supermarket brand after pouring in 600 gallons of vodka in there!! Subbed!!
Thank you for your video.
I will try your Kahlua Liqueur in my Kahlua ice cream recipe.
Great! Let me know how it turns out!
What a great recipe !!! I make it all the time. Thank you
It is really good. I've never met anyone that made it this way outside my family. Glad you enjoy it and thanks for watching!

Wow first recipe I've seen that added blackberry brandy! Definitely going to give it a try, love the Lebowski reference and the Zappa t- shirt !
Ok so where do I find a breakdown of the recipe ?
Yea, for sure give it a try! The ingredients are all listed at the very end of the video. If you make it, let me know what you think.

Great recipe!
I'm also curious for the other recipe you were talking about. Can you share that one too please?
I want to test this now Uncle Darrell!!
It goes quick Lewis. Almost time to make more!😁
Cool recipe. I make different wines to give away, but am going to have to give this a shot😉
Cool. I'm making my holiday batch today! Enjoy!
That looks great! I remember having some of that at your folks house about 30 years ago. I always wanted to try making it.
Thanks John. The recipe is easy and bulletproof. Give it a try!
Zappa ! I'm subscribing just because of that shirt !!
Thanks! You should check my other videos. Something Zappa in most of them!
Great vid brother. Making this soon
Great! Let me know what you think!
Awesome blossom! I will use my home-made Vanilla in your home-make Kahlua recipe. Many thanks - bottoms up! :-)
Great, let me know how it turns out!
That sounds perfect!
How neat! Found you on accident, SUBSCRIBED!
Thank you for sharing your family Kahlua recipe!!😎🥃

Ding, light go's on. I I have been trying to remember my old recipe - Used to use the cheapest apricot brandy, forgot all about it.
Try it with blackberry. Just made a double batch yesterday. Perfect with my morning coffee! Enjoy!
Wow I didn’t know Kahlua had blackberry brandy in it. Thanks for sharing your family recipe 🐨🦘🇦🇺
It doesn't
You put it in
That looks really yummy!
It is, a nice treat.
Made some for my wife she said that was my best Kahlua happy wife happy life
Hahaha. Well, I'm glad she liked it! Thanks for letting me know. 😁
Can not wait to try it, yhanks. Derald
Enjoy!
You used freeze dried coffee, light, medium or dark roast is better?
The one I use is Folgers 'Classic Roast'.
What is your BlackBerry Brandy brand?
I believe that was Hiram Walker. Its pretty inexpensive. Hope you get to give it a try!
Sounds great. But, wow! Six cups of sugar! That blew my mind. Do you think I could use espresso in this recipe?
It does sound like a lot of sugar, but you are making about a gallon of Kahlua. You only us about 2 ounces to make a drink, so not so bad I think. Thanks for watching! 😁
Can't wait to try it I make a lot of cooler but that looks really good
Kahlua
I hope you give it a try. Let me know what you think!😁
I made recipe today it was perfect thank you very much it is different but really good
I'm glad that you liked it!
Can we sustitute with instant coffee and any brandy
Give it a try. Although another flavor brandy will definitely change the taste. Thanks for watching!
I felt a little nervous watching you pour in all that vodka 😂
It's really not that strong. Finished product is less proof than vodka or bourbon. Using it as a mixer it's just right! 😁 thanks for watching!
Does this need to be stored in fridge?
Nope. I've never refrigerated. Hope you enjoy it!
@@masterofnothing3277 we love it!!! Sipping now! How long will this last on shelf?
@@trishmatthews1218 we've had it on the shelf for at least a couple months. I'll be making some tomorrow. Its a Christmas tradition! Really glad you tried it and like it. Enjoy!!
What brand of coffee did you use?
Folgers instant coffee crystals. Hope you can give it a try!
Thanks, I just got finished making a batch. I used Doorly's 5 year amber rum for my base. I will use Folgers for my next batch.
Is this what NAVY SEALS did inbetween missions? Definitely going to try this. HUA!
Secret Seal recipe. Until now!😉
@@masterofnothing3277 hahahahahahaha
@@masterofnothing3277 is this the same stuff they used to get them to bounce the ball on their nose.🤽♀️
Can Truvia be used instead of sugar?
I've not tried that. Maybe cut the recipe down to 1/4 or so and run a test batch. Let me know how it comes out!😁
Frank Zappa YaY to help w/the recipe 😅
I use to use coffee brandy never herd of black berry brandy
Recipe for cooler??
I love Frank Zappa shirt!
Thanks! I got lots of them😁 check my other videos.
Another learning lesson and video. Pick me pick me.
Can this be put in the freezer like limoncello
I've never tried. We drink it too fast!😄 Time to make more for the upcoming holidays though.
How much coffee did you use? Please
Hi there. It's 1/2 cup for a single recipe. In the video, I doubled the recipe. If you watch till the end, the recipe is listed. Enjoy!
"I'll have a caucasian." The Dude abides.
I find my Kahlua made with vodka tastes "thin". I make it with brandy, and it has more body feel and flavour. Also going to try it with rum.
Well, this does have brandy in addition to the vodka. I don't ever drink it straight, so I don't really notice it being thin. I'm sure there are many great recipes out there. Good luck on finding one that you love!😁

@@masterofnothing3277 I have a whole gallon worth going now. Varied types so I brew them in 16 Oz kombucha bottles I’ve saved up. Semi free. 😋
Can i use brown sugar?
This is the only way I've made it. Give it a try!
I switched to Camp Coffee comcemtrate and mixed sugar half white stevia and half Demera brown sugar. Love and taste and not quite as sweet.
Sounds good! People have asked about using surgery substitute, good to know it works! Thanks for watching. Share it with your friends. 😁
What if you can't find black Berry brandy?
We have a couple of liquor outlets that carry it. Total Wine and More, and Bevmo. If you don't have those, maybe you can buy it online. I usually buy the Hiram Walker brand. Good luck!
Quick question about all the sugar. Is not so much sugar highly damaging?
You only use an ounce or two of the finished product to mix a drink. Maybe simular to drinking an occasional soda or eating a piece of candy.
I want the recipe
The video includes the recipe, which is listed at the end. Enjoy!
Thank you ❤
Thanks for watching. Let me know if you give it a try!😁
Why are you using vodka? The label on Kahlua says RUM.
Been doing it like this for 40 years lol. I like it!😁
Wouldn't it be cheaper to just buy a bottle of Kahlua?
I enjoy the process, never considered the cost. Until now😁 I figure i have about $30 into this. How much is a gallon of Kailua?
@@masterofnothing3277 you didn't make a gallon
Just made some couple days ago. Over 3 liters 😁
Rum?
For this recipe, vodka. I have seen it made with Rum or even Tequila.
Cud i be ur friend so i can get one🤗
If Kahlúa uses Rum, then when you're using Vodka, you are making a coffee liquor.
I believe its considered a coffee liqueur either way. Give it a try, let me know how it turns out.
Original Kahlúa used Tequila. Tia Maria uses Rums. I only use only ' Taster's Choice ' instant coffee for my coffee liqueurs.
Shelf life?
Usually goes pretty quick around our house. 😁 I would say use within a month or refrigerate if keeping longer.
@@masterofnothing3277 Ok, great! Wouldn’t go fast here, so refrigerate it is!
Cups… ounces…. Litres. All in one recipe?
Impressive, right?😁
I will listen to anything to say just because not the Zappa shirt.
Never use vodka, only rum.
it may be very good but you lost me with instant coffee and Vanilla extract
Instant coffee for the intensity of flavor. The Vanilla is 'pure' vanilla.
Your not making kahlua, your making coffee flavored Vodka, real kahlua is a Rum based coffee liqueur "/
Wow butthurt?
6 cups of sugar OMG
It is a lot of sugar, but you are only using a couple ounces to mix a drink, so not too bad.
So don’t drink Kailua! There is lots of sugar in it. Same with other drinks!
For the record, Mexican food doesnt make your stomach make noises its misshandling the food, you know what i mean
