BourbonChata?!?! I’m on it! 😂 Thanks sooo much for sharing this and I’m so glad you enjoyed it. Hopefully your audience does too. Love you to the moon and back! 😉🤙🏽♥️
I really like the peppermint rum Chatta that you can only get at Christmas. Would I just add peppermint oil maybe? And does it need to be stored in the refrigerator? And what is the shelflife? I really enjoy listening to you and trying your recipes. Thanks so much.
Yes, I would add 1/2 tsp of peppermint extract. It’s pretty potent stuff, so start small, and then if it’s not enough maybe bump up to a whole tsp, and so on. I think you might also want to add a touch more sugar to balance out the other flavors if you’re going to add peppermint. So maybe 3/4 a cup, rather than half. Let me know how it goes!!
With brown rice it’s basically a health food and you can feel good about drinking several shots a day every day. Get your fiber, b vitamins, and so much more!
I am a bit surprised the brown rice wasn't that much different... Great experiment! Love your sweatshirt! You are braver than I am... I wear it in the kitchen and I know I'm going to fuck up, so I take it off constantly to not ruin it... Also, I'm not really a podcast person either... I listened to one during the pandemic, but now the only ones I follow are from people I know from youtube...
I was surprised too!! I thought for sure it would taste different, but really wasn’t noticeable at all. Vino’s recipe is great- good at cocktails, good at life. 🙌🥃
For those looking for a lactose free dairy version. Organic valley half and half lactose free, green valley butter lactose free one stick (two if you want it really creamy), reduce by a quarter in a pot, be sure to stir often, and you have your whipping cream. Looks like a great recipe will have to try it! I modified your Irish cream recipe to be lactose free and added a few things to it. Everyone loves it. Bet this will be another hit.
Yes, store this in the fridge. Good for at least several weeks, but just smell it first. If it smells wrong, it is wrong. If it smells fine, you’re good :)
So you don't specify how long you need to leave the jar of water, sugar, rice and cinnamon sitting before blending it. I am assuming overnight since your other jars are from "yesterday" but is there a minimum time they should sit? Maximum?
@SavidgeKitchen Thank you very much. I want to try it. Your recipe is great, thank you. I read that chufa nuts should be used, but they can be replaced with a mixture of almonds and Brazil nuts with water. Vanilla is not Bourbon, but Tahiti. I love Ceylon cinnamon. It is healthier and smells like flowers and fruits, but cassia has a warm smell of childhood and baking.
I agree with you, you are not a monster and i was laughing at the nut milk bag right with you 😂. Serious question what is the approximate shelf life on this, about the same as store bought?
You can use whatever spirit you want. It's your drink, make it how you think you might like it. Make it your own. Use rum, gin, vodka, bourbon, whiskey.....experiment. Search for other recipies, you can't imagine how many drinks you cab make at home.
Horchata is from North Africa and is made with barley. The Arabs brought it to Spain, where they developed their own version, made with chufa (tiger nuts). The Spaniards brought it to Mexico, where they developed their own version, made with rice.
perhaps the drink is named such not because it has horchata, but rather because it tastes like horchata due to the addition of rice water, im not sure 🤔
@@smokinwoodzHorchata isn’t an ingredient, it’s the name of the beverage. The problem is that op is used to the version of horchata made in their country and is apparently bothered by the existence of other variations, even though their country’s version isn’t the original either.

Thanks so much for sharing your recipe!!! It’s great, and such a wonderful canvas to play on. Keep those Coach Vino gems coming!! 🙌🥃
I have been wanting to buy a bottle of Rum Chata for some time 😊 now I will be making my own thanks yourself and Vino 🥰🥰 thank you
I'd Love to try the Coconut.

"Heh-heh heh-heh she said nut bag". Love your Beavis and Butthead reference. Definitely giving this a try.

Does it have to be stored in the fridge and what would the shelf life be
Yes, store this in the fridge. Good for at least several weeks, but just smell it first. If it smells wrong, it is wrong. If it smells fine, you’re good :)
I'm assuming the coconut cream one probably tastes more like coquito than rumchata?
Closer, but not quite. This wasn’t as sweet and the texture felt off for coquito
Now im wondering if toasting the rice would add more of a nutty flavor
I bet it would. Definitely worth a try!
So you don't specify how long you need to leave the jar of water, sugar, rice and cinnamon sitting before blending it. I am assuming overnight since your other jars are from "yesterday" but is there a minimum time they should sit? Maximum?
Was wondering the same thing🤔
Why not use ground cinnamon if it's going in the blender?
Also, I cannot wait to make this.
The sticks can be fresher, I don't think it matters much, though.
Not sure if I missed it, but how long would this last in the fridge?
What cinnamon did you end up using? I like Ceylon, it has a subtle lemon flavor. I heard that nutmeg is added to Rum chata.
If I remember correctly, I think I used the Ceylon here. But I’ve done both, and both are wonderful! Cheers :)

Wondering if anyone has tried making this with Silk heavy cream and, if so, how did it turn out?
Me too! Hoping someone reports back!!

I agree with you, you are not a monster and i was laughing at the nut milk bag right with you 😂. Serious question what is the approximate shelf life on this, about the same as store bought?
Could you do this with allulose 🤔
Oh yeah, I was thinking the same because I use allulose for my eggnog, but I'm guessing use a little more because allulose is less sweet than sugar.
What proof of rum is the best?
Does the dairy version need refrigeration?
Yes!
Hi can you use dark rum

You can absolutely use dark rum :) Use something you enjoy and/or have on hand, and adjust from there!! Cheers 🥃
What if you toasted the rice first?
Definitely worth an experiment. Might add some nice toasty nutty notes. Let me know if you try it!
Rum chatta taste just like evaporated milk
Why use water for the soak? Why not rum? It would be stronger with more flavor
Make drambuie
If I try this which sounds delicious I'm not using mount gay rum. I also grew up in the Beavis and Butthead days.
The "H" is silent. ORRCHATAHHH
Horchata is from Spain... made with the chufa

I'm listening and not watching... which 2 is she referring to that she likes
Using rice is called rice water nothing to do with horchata
