You could also can it without garlic, then add it when you open it up to reheat and eat it. Maybe sauté some onions and garlic in a pan, then add the soup. That would add a lot of flavor! :)

Bacon is not recommended. Ham is what is approved for this recipe for safety. I wouldn’t change it

Fresh garlic is only recommended in tested recipes. If you choose to use it do so at your own discretion 😊
