How to make oatmeal quickly and easily. So delicious and healthy!

  • Oatmeal is like a morning hug. It’s so healthy, delicious, comforting and versatile. There are so many options for toppings, but I often top mine with fresh berries. As a #diabetic, they don’t impact my blood sugar very much and they taste great. I encourage you to check with your doctor and monitor your own blood sugar when introducing new foods. This is how I usually prepare my version.
3/4 cups old fashioned rolled oats
    2 tsp flaxseed meal
    1 tsp ground cinnamon
    1 pinch of fine salt
    1 cup water
    1/2 cup whole milk
    1 tsp pure vanilla extract
    1 cup fresh berries
Pour in all the ingredients except for the milk. Cook on medium low while constantly stirring and until the oats soak up most of the water and soften. Add the milk and keep stirring until the oatmeal thickens. Cook longer for thicker oatmeal if you like. The longer you cook it, the creamier it becomes. Top with the fruit and enjoy! Note: I forgot to add the vanilla with the initial ingredients during the video, but added it a little later.

When I started cooking more, I always found that counterintuitive… adding a pinch of salt to sweets. But now I know better. 😃

Maybe so it can help with cooking the oats, because when u do that, it cooks instead of when it isn’t boiled? But I’m not sure, so if u enjoy what u are doing, then keep doing it! :) but also if u want to experiment, feel free to do so and give it a try, thanks for the recipe! :D

I wonder if it’s similar to how you are supposed to heat up a pan before you put say steak on the pan, to make sure you don’t overcook or dry it out (in the case of steak). For oatmeal I don’t really know either but I’d imagine something along those lines of it cooking… Better? I rather not boil milk though lol. Maybe a nice simmer

Respectfully, I’ve been eating like this for the past four years and controlling diabetes without meds. It’s worked very well for me personally. I can’t speak for others.

    Cook for how long?

Times vary depending in the heat… but general rule of thumb is… cook on medium low while constantly stirring and until the oats soak up most of the water and soften. Add the milk and keep stirring until the oatmeal thickens. Cook longer for thicker oatmeal if you like. The longer you cook it, the creamier it becomes.

      3/4 cups. I was hungry. Often it’s 1/2.

Fair enough. I do agree. But as a diabetic, and given up a lot of things in my life in order to stay healthy without meds. I give myself the opportunity to have some treats sometimes. So I still have milk occasionally. I do the same recipe with oat milk sometimes as well. All the best.

Way too much time and work. Just buy instant. Add what you like. Heat soy, almond. or oat milk in the microwave for 2 minutes. Stir everything together. YUMMY!

I don’t find it lots of work, but I respect your opinion. I’m just trying to use things that are slightly less processed. I’m by no means perfect… just trying. Take care.
