How to make oatmeal quickly and easily. So delicious and healthy!

- Oatmeal is like a morning hug. It’s so healthy, delicious, comforting and versatile. There are so many options for toppings, but I often top mine with fresh berries. As a #diabetic, they don’t impact my blood sugar very much and they taste great. I encourage you to check with your doctor and monitor your own blood sugar when introducing new foods. This is how I usually prepare my version.
3/4 cups old fashioned rolled oats
2 tsp flaxseed meal
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1 pinch of fine salt
1 cup water
1/2 cup whole milk
1 tsp pure vanilla extract
1 cup fresh berries
Pour in all the ingredients except for the milk. Cook on medium low while constantly stirring and until the oats soak up most of the water and soften. Add the milk and keep stirring until the oatmeal thickens. Cook longer for thicker oatmeal if you like. The longer you cook it, the creamier it becomes. Top with the fruit and enjoy! Note: I forgot to add the vanilla with the initial ingredients during the video, but added it a little later.

The pinch of salt is AMAZING
When I started cooking more, I always found that counterintuitive… adding a pinch of salt to sweets. But now I know better. 😃
I wish if you put words in the video so we all know what the ingredients are instead of going to description, thank you so much!
I typically add ingredients and instructions in the description, because I find that it’s a more complete set of instructions. Plus, you can just take a screenshot and have a whole recipe pretty much. I’ll consider adding some information over the video in the future. Thanks so much for the feedback.
Its because people see it as a short more than a video. So they dont see the description. @Photosandfood
I wish you read the instructions when you buy oatmeal
Agreed
It's not in the description
Oatmeal fills you up and gives long lasting energy
I agree, as a diabetic it helped me a lot.
Preciate this video man💪🏿 looks good
So kind! Thank you 😊

Looks good but I was always taught to boil my water before I add my oats. The each his own but it looks good either way
Thanks so much for the kind comment. I’m always open to learning. When you were taught, was there a reason for boiling first? There’s zero sarcasm in this question, I’m honestly just always open to learning. Thanks again. Take care.
Maybe so it can help with cooking the oats, because when u do that, it cooks instead of when it isn’t boiled? But I’m not sure, so if u enjoy what u are doing, then keep doing it! :) but also if u want to experiment, feel free to do so and give it a try, thanks for the recipe! :D
I wonder if it’s similar to how you are supposed to heat up a pan before you put say steak on the pan, to make sure you don’t overcook or dry it out (in the case of steak). For oatmeal I don’t really know either but I’d imagine something along those lines of it cooking… Better? I rather not boil milk though lol. Maybe a nice simmer
@@alexanderquilty5705 Maybe it is a little similar, but, I have one question, do u only use milk when making oats? Because I’ve heard lots of people say so and some otherwise.
The instructions on the oatmeal canister says to boil it
Sir, it might seam obvious to some people and you, but it sure would have helped to list exactly what you ingredients were. Thank you. I really enjoyed how you put your entire video together, besides my little gripe, regarding listing your recipe. Take care sir!
Hi there, thanks for the compliment. The ingredients are listed in the description. UA-cam has made this a bit hidden for people on mobile. Click the three dots on the top rate and then description. You’ll see everything listed there. I hope this helps, all the best.
1st off, great song choice! 💯
Aw, thanks!
@Photosandfood can I ask what it is? Shazam might come later 😅
Thank you 👍✔️
Fantastic
Yummy
Looks tasty
Thank you 😊
Looks delicious❤
Thank you so much! 😊
@@Photosandfood You're welcome☺
How long for did you cook the oats so they got to that consistency?
Hi there. If you happen to be on mobile, click the three dots on the right top and then visit the description. I listed the ingredients and steps there. Timing varies a little based on the type of milk, but you’ll have a sense of when it’s creamy enough. All the best.
Put too little sugar but it’s edible. And that’s what counts
Totally agree. 🙌 I wish I could add more. This is me trying to behave as a diabetic. I would just love to add a large table spoon of maple syrup or honey. 😃
@@Photosandfood maple syrup sounds absolutely amazing! Thank you for the suggestion
@@Photosandfood sugar free maple syrup is amazing, i love canes. 5 per 2 tbs. regular maple syrup is disgustingly sweet to me now.
@@PhotosandfoodNa, this is on point. Good u behaving , diabetes can get your limbs amputated ok. U know. And sugar bandits, if u want sweetness, use banana 🍌, use Dates*
Question, what was that you put besides the cinnamon? Was that cardamom?
❤ please where did you buy your brown bowl ?? I want it too!!
This bowl is from Winners. Because it’s wood, I always wash it by hand.
@@Photosandfood please can I have some??
It is a nice bowl. It looks like clay
Thank u
Imagine if Oliver Twist had been given this!
❤👍🏽Thank you for this video !
Thanks for the kind comment 🙏
Can I use evaporated milk for the oats? Thanks
I’ve never used it myself, but I think it should work. I would just add a little more water.
Uncle thoda dry fruits bhi dalna tha ap ko 😊
Can you tell us the brand/make of the pan please? Thanks 🙏🏽
Sure thing. The pot is by Meyers Cookware Canada. The cookware is manufactured in Prince Edward Island. Take care.
Yum, I usually make semolina porridge for breakfast but going to mix it up and make this tomorrow. What a relaxing video 😊
Ohhhhhh! Semolina. I think I’m going to miss it up as well! Sounds delicious. Thank you.
semolina sure is delicious
Can you make without the milk? I cant find whole milk where I live
For sure. Super flexible recipe. You can use 2%, 1%, almond, oat, just water, etc.
What song is this?
It’s Chasing Dream by Yestalgia. It was a download from Artlist, a subscription service I used previously for our videos.
❤❤
That final dish looks like half Heaven half Hell
Fair enough… is hell the fruits or the oats? I personally love this for breakfast, but I’m sure it’s not everyone’s cup of tea. All the best.
If i prepare this morning, can it be edible in the afternoon???
If yes then thank you
If not then can you pls tel me some recipe
It’s ready in 10 to 15 minutes. Full ingredients and process in the description. 😃
My favorite porridge is when the oats are smooth not lumpy. Somehow I can't make it smooth every time
Blend the oats first
I loove raisins on mine😆😆😆.
That would be awesome. Unfortunately I have type two diabetes and raisins aren’t a great for me. But I totally agree with you. A little maple syrup used to be a real treat for me in this dish.
@@Photosandfood Awww, be careful with the diabetes. I was my moms’ caregiver. She love s food like me and thank God I don’t have it. I am a certified foodie😆😆😆.
Do i have to put milk in?
No need to. I do it because it becomes creamier. I’ve made this same dish with just water and also oat milk.
Need to put how much of every item he put in the video so we can make it too 😊
Hi Felipe, unfortunately, UA-cam hasn’t figured out how to do this well yet. I’m assuming you’re on mobile. While watching the video, click the three dots on the top right hand corner and choose description. All the details are in there. All the best.
Do I need to put syrup?
I left it out because I’m diabetic, but some honey or maple syrup would make this fantastic.
Oh okay I needed to know this thank you so much
Wait, we have to cook our oatmeals? I have been RAWDOGGing oatmeals this entire time...
😂
I use Milk making oatmeql
Try savory oats. Beef broth, Parmesan, touch of cayenne.
That would likely be delicious! I’ll have to try that. Thanks
What are the 2 ingredients you put?
Hi Hilina, if you’re on mobile, click the three dots on the top right and she’s description. I have all the details in there. Feel free to ask any questions. All the best.
can this also be done with instant oatmeal?
I’ve never done it that way, but I would guess that it works. Just faster.
i like to add sugar
That’s a great addition. I would too, or maple syrup or honey. Unfortunately I’m diabetic, so I need to keep things less sweet.
who got fed up with oatwater ?😂
Also add cream then its to die for
That’s an excellent suggestion. I do this bowl sometimes with only whole milk, sometimes milk and water for a lighter version, sometimes with some cream and sometimes with oat milk, all depends on the feeling that day. 🙌
What are the ingredients
Hi Aidan, if you’re on mobile, click the three dots on the top right and choose description. I’ve listed all the details in there. All the best.
I milk I mean I use milk
What you put after oats ? Is that coco & Cinnamon ?
If you’re on mobile, click the three dots on the top right and click description. I’ve listed all the ingredients and steps. I hope this helps. Take care.
@@Photosandfoodlearned something again i couldnt find it 😂
@@geri7756 I think UA-cam needs to rethink the description button on mobile. Took me a while to find it.
00:01
what the hell is that portion? I need like 5 of those
The amounts and instructions are all in the description. Unfortunately, UA-cam doesn’t make it easy to get there on mobile. Hit the three dots on the top right and choose description to see all the information. You can of course double or triple anything in my instructions.
I see cinnamon what was the other ingredients?
I used some flax seed as well. If you like, you can visit the description for a list of everything I used. If you’re on mobile, click the three dots in the top right and then description. All the best.
So just throw random shit in there while you are playing lofi. Got it.
All the ingredients are listed in the description if you’re interested in knowing what I used. If you’re on mobile, just click the three dots on the top right and then description. All the best.
What are the engrideints
They’re in the description. If you’re on mobile, click the 3 dots to get there. All the best.
No sugar?
I’m diabetic so the berries are my sugar. Before that I would have used maple syrup or honey for a bowl like this. Just trying to stay meds free.
Would you write the ingredients bro?😅
They’re all in the video description, plus how I prepared it.
What about measurements???
You can find the ingredients and measurements in the description. If you’re on mobile, click the three dots on the top right to get to the description. Take care.
Thank you!🙏
Where are the ingredients? I don’t see anything!
Click the three dots in the top right, choose description and you’ll find the info.
we use milk over here
I do sometimes as well. This breakfast gets a lot of variations at our home. All the best.
If you skip the milk you save extra calories but you also lose your will to live
underrated comment
Measurements would’ve been great
UA-cam unfortunately doesn’t do a great job of making the description easy to get to on mobile. Click the three dots on the top right and then description. It’s all there. I hope this helps.
@@Photosandfood thanks mate
So you're just not going to name anything you're putting in the pot?
Rename this video to "Cooking Oatmeal Showcase", because this is not a tutorial.
Nevermind, it's in the description... 😅
Correct. I find it easier for people to follow ingredients and steps if they’re written down instead of showing one thing at a time in the video that’s so short.
Instructions would have been great
They’re in the video description. Both ingredients and the steps.
Wtf is this how much do I put
The quantities and steps are all in the description. If you’re on mobile, click the three dots on the top right to get to the description.
Can you also put milk in?
Absolutely, I actually added some into this one. I usually add it in after the oats are softened with the hot water. It reduces the chances of things sticking to the pot. This is more of a guide because this is a very versatile meal. You can add regular milk or alternative milk, some yogurt, etc.
That would make it porridge wouldn't it?
@@Photosandfoodthanks!
measurements?
UA-cam hasn’t made this easy on mobile. I’m guessing you’re on mobile. When you see the video, click the three dots on the top right. Then click the description. You’ll see the details there. Let me know if that works. All the best.
What spices did you put in it ?
If you’re on mobile, click the three dots on the top right and click description. I’ve listed all the ingredients and steps. I hope this helps. Take care.
Why you don't show about powders,,,very bad
If you’re asking about the ingredients, have included all the information in the description. If you’re on the phone, just click the three dots on the top and then choose the description.
Wats the spices
Hi there, thanks for asking. The full list of ingredients and steps are in the description. If you’re on mobile, click the three dots on the top right to get to the description. Take care.
I thought we eat oatmeals raw😂
😂😂😂 I’m sure a few have attempted. Nothing like getting that fiber direct. 🤣
Unhealthy ingridents
Respectfully, I’ve been eating like this for the past four years and controlling diabetes without meds. It’s worked very well for me personally. I can’t speak for others.
Cook for how long?
Times vary depending in the heat… but general rule of thumb is… cook on medium low while constantly stirring and until the oats soak up most of the water and soften. Add the milk and keep stirring until the oatmeal thickens. Cook longer for thicker oatmeal if you like. The longer you cook it, the creamier it becomes.
How many cups of oatmeal was that
3/4 cups. I was hungry. Often it’s 1/2.
Lol…. Keep waiting for the porn stars to show up with this music…
They never made it 😂
Milk is fat
Fair enough. I do agree. But as a diabetic, and given up a lot of things in my life in order to stay healthy without meds. I give myself the opportunity to have some treats sometimes. So I still have milk occasionally. I do the same recipe with oat milk sometimes as well. All the best.
Way too much time and work. Just buy instant. Add what you like. Heat soy, almond. or oat milk in the microwave for 2 minutes. Stir everything together. YUMMY!
I don’t find it lots of work, but I respect your opinion. I’m just trying to use things that are slightly less processed. I’m by no means perfect… just trying. Take care.
