- In this week's PIO Vlog, Eric and Connor talk about a 2nd alarm structure fire, Station 20 groundbreaking ceremony, large brush fire, Academy 20-1 Hell Night, water rescue at Chatfield State Park and patch shout outs.
Great update of what's been going on for the last couple of weeks. I appreciate that you highlight the good stuff and the sad stuff. Realities of an American fire department.
When doing station Saturday maybe do them from oldest to newest just my suggestion
Yes please
Agreed
Agree
South Metro Fire Rescue PIO Eric, thanks for giving me a few minutes of your time last month at Station 12 and for the patch swap and shout-out (Shawnee). Stay safe.
I love these videos so much I really wish my city did something like this.
Station 18 please!
RE: Station Saturday; I want to see Station 13, one of your Littleton Fire/Rescue heritage stations, and my neighborhood's first due station!
Toronto 🇨🇦! That’s an older patch we go by Toronto Fire Services and St. Thomas / St. Cathrines are southern Ontario close to Detroit. How do I send these patches would like to send you a patch of my station near by
love your vids
Why no bundles on your rigs
Surely you’ve high rises and multiple dwellings where you need to add line
Hii Cousin Connor how is the job
When do you hire? And do you hire a person right off the street by chance I have no experience.
Wet chrome Logistics South Metro does not require experience to become a firefighter all who apply must go through the 16 week academy www.southmetro.org/411/Firefighter-Careers there is a link that tells you more.
Could you possibly make a fleet Friday on a safety officer and include an explanation of the purpose of the safety officer
In most places the Safety Officer is just another set of eyes and ears for the Incident Commander, and they primarily look for safety issues on the fire ground.
Well said they will also make sure services are discounted to a building
After seeing this vlog, i wondered what a safety officer would do. I'm a firefighter from the Netherlands 🇳🇱 and we do not have these officers, riding out with the crews.
So a vlog about it would be awesome 👌 😎.
The thumbnail looks awesome! Love your stuff!
Station 18
i cant wait to watch this i love the videos and i love watching the calls you guys go on. I am a volunteer and love this stuff
Thank you for your service.
Bryson Moran just doing my the thing I love
I love the fire department.
Ah, you finally got a patch from the Netherlands! Remember, we have a national fire department so you got THE patch, not just any patch
I can’t wait to watch I’m setting a reminder
I requested that they do station Saturday! Can’t wait for station Saturday! Maybe you should start at the lowest station number and work your way up the the largest station number.
I can’t wait!
Station 44, can't wait to finally get some love to poor RED 3 lol. Also where did calling the ARFF rigs "RED" come from? Down here we call them "Crash" units.
PIO VLOG- 2ND ALARM STRUCTURE FIRE, LARGE BRUSH FIRE WATER RESCUE
Love your videos keep up the good work
I'm excited. Although it's in the middle of the night here in Germany. But who cares😂
You should do a Series on tours of your stations! Especially of the shops
Should have watched the video until the end: ua-cam.com/video/y_illQ1u6b4/v-deo.html
i have a question what happend to that south metro tower truck that went in to the fire
If you are referring to the clip used in the early Unscripted episodes, Tower 32 drove through smoke from a fire, but did not drive through actual fire. They were responding as part of the 2nd Alarm for a commercial structure fire at Chili's assisting Littleton Fire Rescue in December 2016. The smoke produced by that fire was pushed by the wind across the road that Tower 32 was arriving on.
"Move in move in get closer get both sides! IS THAT PROPANE FUEL?!" 😯
Anyone else check their phone when the PulsePoint notification sound played in the intro?
Welcome back guys. Hope things are OK. I echo the request for Station Saturday-also you had a probie on Unscripted - could you do a check on how she is doing.
Love this, such a professional department
Just love the 90’s international 4700 fire truck
Re the patches from the Netherlands. Brandweer means fire department. It is pronounced brant veer. The first one doesn’t seem to have a city, the second is from the Dutch city of Zeist. I follow a Netherlands volunteer Brandweer in the village of Lunteren on UA-cam. They use Closed Captions for English translation so people all over the world follow them. I spent three summers in the Netherlands in the late 1980s so I learned a bit of the language.
What is the address to send stuff??
station Saturday station 37 or 11
Do a fleet Friday of the Fire Chiefs of Department vehicle ?!?!🚒
I take my oily rags out behind the house, put them in a metal bucket and burn them. That way I control when and where they burn.
You can also just lay them out flat to dry, it's the crumpled up together rags that create enough heat to ignite.
I love your videos guys, Thank you for your service!
Syncrude is an on site fire dept. at the Syncrude Refinery north of Ft. McMurray Alberta - Syncrude is not a Municipality or city.
ive seen a lot of these fires why do you take so long to start putting water on , the building is half destroyed before you start water, in the UK the firefighters seem much quicker at starting the water
Can you guys please do a video explaining the alarms and what they mean
@@SouthMetroFireRescuePIO Maybe talk about how command works in a fire scenario too
If I wanted to move across the country to join a fire department, I’d go to South Metro.
Station 34 or 11
Don’t forget to follow south metro on pulse point!
hey dose south metro have a Tiller truck or getting one?
Hey Eric and Connor can we see station 18
South Metro Fire Rescue PIO Thank you Eric and Connor for sharing content. I’m learning a lot from Fleet Friday’s , A day In the life video’s ,vlogs and what fire engines do when they are on scene.
That Vlog it was extremely sad I feel bad for the family I know that’s not easy and I will pray for them God may help them through this difficult time because That is very very sad that the Vlog was pretty cool you guys did a pretty good job and you have a good week heroes 😢🚒🧑🚒🔥🚒
I'm the one who sent silverhill volunteer fire department
@@SouthMetroFireRescuePIO no problem.
Wow! This is such a great channel! More Fire Departments should do something similar, it is a great way to connect to the community. I'd have to talk to my FD chief about doing something similar. Might be different with a Volunteer Dept in a small town, but community outreach is always important.
Station Saturday sounds amazing! Can't wait! Would love to see them from smallest to biggest.
And personally would love Station 13, because thats my lucky number ;)
How do we address letters to you guys?
I remember a house in my hometown started the same way as the first fire. It was a duplex with one apartment on each floor. The downstairs tennant stored oily rags in a hamper in the laundry room. Fire destroyed downstairs apartment and heavily damaged upstairs one. Luckily no one hurt.
@connor Why is it called Hell Night? IT is SSOOOOOO fun if you get to experience the real thing as a probie!!!
You should A Podcast featuring Female firefighters and their story? Or even a playlist?
America independents day is me b-day :). stay safe out there and hope all is well
I'm so ecsited!
In Oklahoma right now there's 10,000+ cases right now of covid-19
Thanks for another great Vlog Connor and Eric, I love to see a Vlog with South Metro and one of the other fire services in your state, in a training drill exercise
You guys need to have a fire prevention series. You mention these little things in various videos that I would have never known about otherwise.
You guys are my role models
These Video Are What Made Me Go And Do Fire Cadets (UK Fire Academy)
Why do no stations house a. Engine and a tower company together?
The collapse rig
My wife told me to ask y’all to do 18 first on your Station Saturday thing.
You should get Portland Fire and Rescue they are beautiful ❤️
Station 44
Station 22
Thank you so much for your service and great videos. Stay safe.
Maybe do a ride along from each station you visit?
so excited
When you watch these Videos you really just want to be in South Metro
Also, when doing Station Saturdays, if you guys could PLEASE tell us in the videos what the heritage of each station is, i.e. whether it's been with South Metro from the beginning, or whether it's been acquired from another district, which was in turn acquired from yet another district, and so on and so forth as applicable. I am personally interested in knowing which stations were ultimately from Englewood Fire/Rescue, which was acquired by Littleton Fire/Rescue one or two, maybe three years before South Metro acquired them. Thanks!
Stations 11-19 are rather interesting as they were individually build and owned by the City of Littleton, Highlands Ranch Metropolitan District (HRMD), and Littleton Fire Protection District (LFPD) while still being part of the join Littleton Fire Rescue organization. Englewood ultimately did not join SMFR and went to Denver Fire Department instead. A quick list is below.
11-12: Littleton
13-15: LFPD
16: 1/3 HRMD, 1/3 Littleton, 1/3 LFPD
17-18: HRMD
19: Littleton
21-23: Cunningham
31-32: SMFR (Old stations were Castlewood)
33: Castlewood
34: Old SMFR (Castlewood renamed, modern SMFR kind of begins after joining with Parker in 2008, old station was Castlewood)
35-37: Castlewood
38: SMFR (Old station was Cherry Hills)
39: Castlewood
40: Louviers
41-46: Parker
47: Parker (Could be considered SMFR as it was completed in 2009 after the Parker/SMFR consolidated)
Thank you for sharing the great video and the cause of the fire
yay! i have always been waiting for one in Maryland!!!!!
Can you do a vlog of the different tools and what they are used for?
Station 20
You're work is inspiration for me
who ever filmed the recruits needs to learn how to film right
Thanks for the vlog
Cool
Brandweer means "Fire Department" in Dutch :)
Thanks for the great video! I love it when you have videos on fire incidents. It is always interesting to find out how a fire scene is set up! Keep up the great work and can not wait for station Saturday. Perhaps start with small station then go to station with the BCs. Stay safe!
it depends on the initial alarm when crews are already on-scene.
Shucks. I was hoping to see the patch I sent you...
What about doing a firefighter spotlight? One person every Tuesday? Firefighter Tuesday?
@@SouthMetroFireRescuePIO I suggest a bit more real incidents and detailed explanations like the 2nd Alarm that you had! Maybe a few for every vlog and a Fire Thursday!! For an active incident. Always wanted to know more about those.
Prayers for all of the south metro fire rescue staff 🙏🏽
I liked the water rescue but sad to hear about the death =(
Jesus 3 Calls in 1 thats crazy
Safety 35 for fleet Friday?
I saw Glenview which is so cool for me. I live 20 minutes from there and got a tour of it when I was younger!
I was pretty shocked too! Evanston resident over here.
For station Saturday I want to see Station 34
Do the biggest station with the most apparatus
What helmet can do you guys have?
Can you do a tour of the new tanker and start up
Hi there.
I've got a question about how to tell who is who on the big alarms. How do you know who is Battalion Chief, Lieutenant, Captain and so on, on the fire ground?
Here in Denmark the guidelines says:
Incident commander wears a silver helmet, red jacket or a west with a red patch that says incident commander.
The teamleader, the one in charge of the crew on an engine wear a red helmet and maybe also a west that says team leader.
Firefighters wear a black helmet.
Police wear a west with a blue patch that say police commander.
The commander of the EMS/ambulance/health has a west with a green patch.
People from EOD, CBRN wear a west with a black patch.
All the west are in flouresent yellow.
Stefan H. At South Metro all Chief officers wear white helmets with White Helmet Shields. Captains wear Black helmets with red tetras and white shields. Lieutenants wear black helmets red tetras and red shields. Also the BC/DC have a little green light on top of their vehicles and when they have it on that indicates they are in command.
@@camden3957 Cool thanks for the answer, now I know what to look for.
Station 19!
Day of life with the Chief is a good idea
Happy Father’s Day Eric.
Thank you for the patch
I passed vista right when it started
These videos make me want to join!
Is the Day in the life of a Paramedic video coming out? Great video!
I think that’s my be next weeks video. Not sure but I know is it is the next day in the life.
Havent seen one of these in a while, I'm excited!
