This building was also mentioned with District Chief Powell's Day in the Life. He also mentioned the hazard here. I guess it was a matter of time. Great work knowing the layout and the hazards. Be safe!
Great to clearly hear the communications between everyone. Demonstrates how important it is for the incident commanders to have a working knowledge of the various buildings in their jurisdictions. This just deepens my profound appreciation for all of our first responders whether paid or volunteer. God Bless and keep them all.
My wife Kim and I lived at Club Valencia from 1985 to 1987. We lived on the third floor facing inside. I was always worried about the fire danger...and people used to prop open the fire doors.
Eric and Connor ! Excellent work as ALWAYS ! Your videos are always educational and very well put together ! Another example of OUR Class 1 Fire/Rescue Department that protects Us ALL in Douglas Co., Colorado !!!!!!
Thank you Kim Connor Eric and Lauren from your friend in north Springfield Missouri kyle and merry Christmas to my PIO friends of south metro fire and rescue
That is such an odd design building, cool looking, but a definite bear during a fire. Maybe a drone to see in the courtyard. I know that means another resource, but maybe worthwhile.
I live in this area and tend to see engine 11 of Aroura Fire Rescue and engine 21 of South Metro Fire Rescue respond to fire calls and depending on the area SMFR, AFR, or Denver Fire Department send additional units and you can also see Arapahoe County Sherriff, Denver Police, and Aurora Police and you can also see Falck Medical Services, Denver Health, South Metro Paramedics, and other paramedics dispatched by South Metro respond to these calls it is just a area where all of there jurisdictions mix and they have to work together a lot of the time and I love to she the effort they make to make this area safer.
Hi Eric and Connor 😃😃🎉🎉 This is an excellent Vlog, very informative and interesting 👍👍😎 It's Fantastic to see Connor again 💕😃😃🎉🎉 Great to catch up with Connor 😃😃
That is really using a Pro-Active approach will obviously pay off in the future, what was a great idea. That building is a nightmare for a truly big disaster to occur. I trust that efforts are being made to make that complex safer for the residents. The building is very attractive, but pretty building have been the scene of catastrophic events before. Very well managed despite the many challenges. On second fire locked gates, sometimes you just have to go to forcible entry to gain access if there is no one there to unlock them as there should be of course. Luckily this fire was isolated. Wow Connor is back with a one-year-old boy and walking, awesome. You look like a happy mom, but then again you are usually smiling anyway. Some cool patches and Connon gets first choice for her wall? Is that a coin toss, or does she just smile, and you give in? Another Awesome video of SMFR at work and icing on the cake a visit from Connon. It doesn't get any better than this. Looking forward to your new videos coming up too! You two are just too much!!
LOVE watching South Metro in action. That fire was starting to take off, heading for the roof, and they nailed it water in a hurry. I've seen other videos of the FDs being SLOW AS HELL going into action and they end up losing the structure. The second fire. Response time delayed due to the fire department gaining access to the structure. BAD!!
I live in the UK but these PIO Vlogs are such high quality I watch them even though I don't need to info myself! I just love the work of Fire services worldwide. Can I ask what the function is to have so many Police and Sheriff on scene? Always wondered if their vehicles get in the way. In the UK you will get a couple of police on scene to supervise but it looks like in the US you get a lot of Police arriving? Thanks!
It honestly depends on the area. Some parts of the US with smaller towns and volunteer departments, the Police will usually send 1-2 police cars to the scene because they will get there before the volunteers and possibly help put out the fire or help any victims. At least where I'm from, our police department could send upwards of 4 police cars for a reported fire. And yes, they tend to get in the way a lot. There are many times where they will park either in front of the house or in front of a hydrant or they will just block the road completely. Or they will be walking all over the scene. Big cities, however, usually only have police on scene if they are requested, either for traffic control or criminal investigation or just a bystander causing problems. With that, they usually aren't in the way as much.
Thanks for watching! It depends on the law enforcement jurisdiction, but many will dispatch officers / deputies emergent and they assist with evacuation residents as quickly as possible. They're very cautious about where to park and usually coordinate vehicle placement on their radio channels.
Police over here love to think they are FF's, kinda running joke because they are usually first on scene and try to help out. At least it's a running joke between FF's and police where I live in the US.
Good one guys! I'm Glade no one was badly hurt in both 2's! And was awsome to see Connor as well! She looks amazing fir having a a little one walking! Kids are the best! Sure keeps yeah on your toes!lol
Hey SMFR, I think it would be very cool if there was another channel for full radio traffic, dash cams, helmet cams, etc. Another thing would be that incidents like these fires, you could post short 2-5 minute videos running down the incident, a mini blog basically! :) Merry Christmas!
Hey, Orwigsburg Pa. ten miles south of me in Pottsville. Pottsville home of America's oldest brewery Yuengling Brewery and still in business. Orwigsburg patch of the courthouse if my memory serves correctly is where the Molly McGuires were tried and first in prisoned. Look up the Molly McGuires for some important American history.
Finally, a video where the radio traffic is "Hey you, it's me," (e.g. Command, this is engine X) instead of "It's me, hey you" (e.g. Engine X to Command).
At least in Germany this is the official and usual way of talking on the radio: first the called station/person/whatever, then the calling station/person/whatever (e.g. "Leitstelle Fürstenfeldbruck vom Johannes Gröbenzell 71/1": the medical unit "Johannes Gröbenzell 71/1" is calling the command "Leitstelle Fürstenfeldbruck").
There isn't a public map on ARCGIS that we're aware of, but some of their products are available here www.southmetro.photography/Misc-Photos/2019-SMFRA-Map/
@South Metro Fire and Rescue PIO I really appreciate your videos they are very helpful and informative I just have one comment/concern, in the next videos could you when doing the patch shout out instead of bringing the patches to the camera just show a picture of them instead, because of the blurriness. Thanks
Medic 13 placed their new unit in service last week and Medic 211 will have theirs soon. We don't have any updates on the other apparatus in production.
did you guys get any new trucks? I noticed today a SMFR ladder company near Belview and 25 that had a slightly different livery with blue, But I couldn't find any station/unit number on it!
The ladder company you saw was probably the spare that Ladder 32 is using. It was originally purchased by Littleton Fire Rescue when they had a white and blue stripes. It was originally assigned as Ladder 16, then Ladder 18. Here's a photo - www.southmetro.photography/Stations-Units/Station-18-Highlands-Ranch/Station-18-Historic-Photos/i-BzTqctn/A
South Metro has up to 5th Alarm for Structure Fires and up to 2nd Alarm for Wildland Fires. After those alarm levels are fulfilled, command will request the number and type of resources specifically needed.
I have been living at club Valencia since 2 years, and nothing like this will never again . but I was wrong. this building is not safe anymore . the 2nd fire happened in November, everybody are not happy, the fire brigade broken everyone's doorknobs and everybody have to put chairs or tables in the doors to wait for the maintenance people to come and fix our doors. later in November, December, and January ever thing is in peace until yesterday , a another fire? man, the HOA are not doing their job to keep everyone safe. this place use to be safe back in the 70s,80s,90,2000s and the 2010s,, then in the 2020s this is not safe anymore because of in may of 2022 windows smash and broken ! , going upstairs and saw a heroin bong back in June or July of 2021. look, I mean 2021 is not bad of as of this year and last year. I mean due all of respect am not going to stay here for another year . am out of HERE!
4:00 I don't care if they are told the building has 1000 children inside, all their efforts should have gone to this location First. Stop an engine with 500 gallons of onboard water, activate the pump, and knock this down with the Deck Gun within the first minute of arrival. While that is going on you pull a 1-3/4" line to that unit, get inside and finish it off. Done and Done in the first three minutes of arrival. There is no more combustion to worry about and each unit windows can be opened to vent without having to expose the tenants to an evacuation that could be in itself, dangerous. TELL ME WHERE AND HOW I AM WRONG! 4:11 This video is extensively edited so there is no way of knowing how long it took to get that line into play!! 4:54 The JOB didn't get thoroughly finished so it still poses a threat. Notice that lines have been pulled minutes before this point. Now watch what happens because they ignored this obvious threat. Every second that fire is creating new toxic and flammable gasses and increasing the heat inside the structure. All of which are threatening the people they are supposedly helping. 5:20 It took 3 seconds to eliminate those flames. How long did it burn before this happened?
Concerning the apartment complex, has a cause been determined yet? The complex was oddly designed but understandable considering the time period of construction. But pretty sure that floor plan didn't help with containment
Hi Jim, due to the high volume of requests SMFR doesn't provide complimentary patches because of the cost. We will trade patches or they can be purchased at this link - www.911patches.com/search?type=product&q=south+metro

These videos are seriously awesome! And that apartment structure was asking for trouble!
you'd think the 2nd fire would've been upgraded to a 5-alarm.
My wife Kim and I lived at Club Valencia from 1985 to 1987. We lived on the third floor facing inside. I was always worried about the fire danger...and people used to prop open the fire doors.

Can’t wait for the new series! The fishing bit at the end was hilarious 😂
Thank you Kim Connor Eric and Lauren from your friend in north Springfield Missouri kyle and merry Christmas to my PIO friends of south metro fire and rescue
Two unique fires. Thanks for the update.
Thank you so much for showing my patch! It was Naugatuck Fire, and you nailed the name!
Love the ending of the video🤣. Keep up the amazing work. Hope you guys have an amazing weekend.
This is pretty crazy. Lovely job done by the firefighters on scene
great work guys and girls!
That is such an odd design building, cool looking, but a definite bear during a fire. Maybe a drone to see in the courtyard. I know that means another resource, but maybe worthwhile.
Absolutely! SMFR’s IDT Unit was on scene and they have several drones, including one with thermal imaging.
Great knockdown, I was upset at the 7min mark when the Subaru drove over your supply line, glad they didn’t hinder fire attack.
Hi Eric and Conner thank you for your service and I love your pio vlogs
I like the gamewell master box in the background.

Good stop on the apartment fire 👍
Great vlog. It was great to see Connor again and her youngest is walking already, wow !! Merry Christmas and happy new year Connor, Eric, etc.
Great Video
Awesome content! Stay safe!
Good job SMFR, good to see Connor.
love the VLOG
The second fire from far away looked like a tornado. 13:28
Great video, I like this editing style, gives us more details on whats going on while watching.
Got Naugatuck pronunciation spot on
Merry christmas PIO team! Hope yall spend it well with your friends and familys!!

Really good idea.
Can y'all do more day in the life even if it's a firefighter or engineer etc. Again I just love seeing them

letting people drive over the line is a NO NO
How about the idiot shouldn't drive over a hose 🤦♂️
Especially when the line appears to be the supply 😠
Sorry

Any updates on the new apparatus and medic units?
Medic 13 placed their new unit in service last week and Medic 211 will have theirs soon. We don't have any updates on the other apparatus in production.
Bra that’s literally the song that they play in the intros of Station Saturdays
@21:53 happy my state is featured in this one, i remember when you guys featured my towns only 2 fire departments ,that what suprised me
THIS PROCESS IS WORTH OF LEARNING OF TO BE A FIRE FIGHTER; IT TAKES TOTAL BRAVERY TO WORK ON IT!😅😊
have you never seen the pentagon or apple hq?
If there is no fire alarm or sprinkler system in the apartment complex, then what was that red fire panel shown in the first interior shot?
They must of been adding some fire alarms cause that’s a control panel
did you guys get any new trucks? I noticed today a SMFR ladder company near Belview and 25 that had a slightly different livery with blue, But I couldn't find any station/unit number on it!

More helmet cam action, please! Equip the entire department with cams! Loved the video though, thanks!
10:48 what happened to Connor???
Connor was promoted to a new job called Executive Communications Manager. She does a lot less PIO related job functions now.
I cannot believe that car was allowed to run over that supply Line. Crazy
I don't believe anyone was around to stop it.
@@williamedwards1528 there was a pack guy walking right behind them and looked like a cop waving them back
I cringed so hard when she backed out over that line.
Is your EMS Division Chief German or at least has been raised in a German speaking environment?
He is actually from Marktredwitz, Bavaria, Germany
Exactly!
Omg what fire code was this built to? How did they get away with no sprinklers?
Sixty years is a lot of hindsight.
What about the appatuts update
Happy holidays South Metro! Have any of the nine new medic units gone into service yet?
Any updates on the new Red 1 and Red 3
Both are still on order at Oshkosh. As soon as we receive updates we'll be sure to share them.
Weres Conner?
Connor was promoted to a new position called Executive Communications Manager, so she's only doing on-call PIO work a few times each month.
Stay safe Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
It's great to see you all. I hope you all have a Merry Christmas my friends ❤️🙂⚘️🎅🤶.
What address can we send patches to ??? Great video .
You can send patches to...
SMFR PIO Office

Its unsafe to not have alarm?
What’s the busiest south metro station?
Station 34 is the busiest when the individual unit statistics are added up.

Good Story I love it🤩😍
This looks like a public building that is middle after the Pentagon
Í remember when we we did a ridelog with DC
I was listening to pluse point when the first alarm and when the second alarm got dispatch
This is why I'll never have an apartment on the top floors.. too many careless people will get you killed.

I have a question. If I wanted to do dispatch until I was able to get into the academy could I do that?
Most likely correct search up jobs for that title 👍🏽
