Good thing there isn't a lot of "Firefighter hunters" out there, it's just honestly sad to see people killing innocent Firefighters. They are no threat, in face they put out those threats. And they aren't coming for you so why kill them, world is so cold. Thank god it does not happen as much as it used to. 😒😟😞
In parts of Belfast Northern Ireland when I'm from, kids in some housing estates will call in false alarms then attack the firefighters with bricks and other throwable missiles. It's been a problem here for years, not just isolated to Belfast. Sick to see in an apparent 1st world country such a lack of respect to the heroes that could very well be cutting them out of a stolen car in the future (which is usually the career path for these individuals).
hey Connor Congrats , i'll miss seeing you , you'll make a great Mom , i've enjoyed watching you , if you have a baby boy Will is a cool name . again congrats , and don't be stranger :0)
Their CAD system is made by CentralSquare (formerly TriTech). The automatic voice dispatch and station alerting system is called First-In and is made by Westnet, Inc. The map illustrations seen in the vlog are just an image of their district that has been edited to show the call location.
@@landonpalmer7662 yes I they unfortunately do not carry scba found an old comment saying that they don’t they should carry it though just for extra protection
First, Congratulations Conner on your little person to be! Thanks to you an Eric we have an excellent VLOG, AGAIN! As a side note, i was a firefighter/medic in the Alaskan interior, as such in that region, we routinely worked in the ( - ) numbers most winter months( with & without wind-chill), fyi last month there were -60F temperatures with the wind-chill, yes it sucks!! Thanks again and stay safe!!
CONGRATULATIONS CONNOR!!! We will miss you on the BLOGS. Hope everything goes well. Stay safe and healthy and look forward to your full time return. Eric, be safe and stay warm. Thank goodness we don't have -25 degrees where we live!!!!
I wish I lived closer to a department like this, I live around a ton of volunteer stations. Closest big station like this to me would be Either Taylor or Toledo
Can y'all show more responding footage of the crews driving to the scenes?? I would like to see how people reaction driving and how the Firefighters deal with the drivers not listening to lights and sirens... That would be great also congratulations on the baby!!!!
But on that first fire, did the cat make it? I hope so. I have pet stickers on my front and back doors for firefighters in case something happens when we're not home.
I never really thought about the fact that firefighting in the winter must be annoying because your job is to make it less hot, when your body is craving a little extra warmth
I can’t say for SMFR but our district the IC checks on the different crews and if temperature affects peoples working ability then they add additional alarms to let some fire fighters to warm up
That is what I am thinking because they have rehab there and going off my local community last year we had a structural fire and it was a volunteer department even stores were donating food and drinks I am pretty sure that they called two other townships and even the city in (mutual aid). There is almost no way even with the turnout gear and fire that they people on the outside could handle it. Thanks for letting me know.
Congratulations, Connor. Great idea about what it's like being an on-call PIO, Eric...and the 4th July follow-up sounds interesting. Always look forward to everything that comes out for SMFR...my weekly fix! 🤣🤣
Something that I noticed in this video in comparison to others was how units contacted Dispatch. Many times I've heard it as Metcom, versus Dispatch. Has the designator been changed?
The name MetCom was retired on the 1st of January do to an organizational change within South Metro. Dispatch is now under Operations & IT/GIS is under Support Services. So the decision was made to retire the name MetCom and it just be Dispatch.
Congratulations Connor on your impending bouncing bundle of joy and the world of no sleep, no clean clothes and whose turn is it to change the diaper😁😁😁 Fighting fire in cold is no fun and I spent many years on our Mills ERC(Emergency Response Crew) and winter fire fighting is so joyful especially in -35c weather with windchills of -20c. Frozen hoses, frozen equipment, broken couplings, frozen fire fighters and everything is covered in Centimetres of ice buildup.....fun times had by all.
Interesting... SMFR changed their recorded dispatch message. It now says "channel FMS Ops [number]" rather than just "Ops [number]" before. Did you do this because every other video had a question about what vehicle "Ops 3" is? :D
I need to add this, after being subscribed for a year and being able to catch up on ALL there videos if you haven’t subscribed already do so... you can actually make great connections and even friends just by watching them. Oh and it also teaches things that not even the FDNY could teach you.
Was I the only one who took more than a second to realize that Eric doesn’t have blaze orange hair?
Probably
he has hair???
🤣🤣🤣🤣 lol took me a bit to see he doesn't
Congrats Connor you should do a family channel just for updates and because we will missing seeing you as often

Also, congratulations, Connor! I hope that your pregnancy goes well!
Excellent PIO Vlog. Congratulations Connor! Soon you will be wearing Mom jeans. LOL

Hey i love all of your videos and also is there a thing of a safety officer for station 12 aka safety unit 12
@@SouthMetroFireRescuePIO ok thanks and also have their been a fleet friday of any of the safety officer cars in SMFR
Any reason the Bat. Chief didn't make it known about the ammunition inside that area, per the neighbor?.

Is Eric okay he looks really sick
Why did everyone go from saying metcom to dispatch
I think they changed the name
@@alex_1798 ok
they changed metcom ops 3 to SMFOPS3 too.

so all of you arm chair firefighters, can go back to learning about fire fighting by watching " Emergency" The water Hammer issue is mute point.
Do PIO’s have scba ?
No SCBA, they're not trained Firefighters and as such shouldn't be that close to the risk area.

Congrats Connor - my first thought was: Here skin is different ;-)
Back to business: Chief, why are you parking in the smoke?

I’d love to see more ride alongs, I know it’s tough with COVID though. Thanks Connor and Eric
Probably one of the best rooms to have all that extra water in a hotel: the indoor pool room!
So did the cat make it out in the first fire I need to know the important things here! Also congrats to connor and family for the soon addition!
Someone down paid said the cat was reunited with their owner. as happy as I am about to cat surviving I'm glad the owner didn't die either.
@@navblue20 yeah but we already knew they made it out thankfully but the cat was still inside last we knew
12:50 :)
Congratulations Connor.
Hey SMFR you guys should make a discord for all ur fans to hang out in and chat I can help yall set it up if u guys want to.
Also very good job in rough conditions. I'm on an ambulance crew and we were up 36 hours straight ourselves down here in Texas.
It would be cool to see a follow up on where the probies from the south metro unscripted episode are now.
OHMYGOD YEAHH
Congratulations Connor! :) Very well done vlog as always!
Per South Metro's IG account on 2/11. The cat was reunited with the owner for the first fire shown.
Good.
Hi, Connor,

If you wake up at midnight with a presents of snake in your house is it fist dispatched as a possible structure fire or smoke investigation?
We have the opposite issue, 33 degrees and 90% humidity, but the fire still hot inside lol.
