    Dr.Mindy, I just bought your book. I´m a cancer-survivor (still on Letrozol) and Muslim who´s used to fasting since around 12, and I´m so happy that you´ve included women without a cycle in your book, really grateful for that! The chapter called "Foods that support your hormones" is also very helpful, as well as the "How to break your fast" and recipes.
    It´s wonderful to hear you speak about fasting, specifically dry-fasting. I´ve noticed how so many people avoid mentioning Islam and Ramdhaan, but not you. 💜It´s extremely refreshing, because we´re used to people avoiding to mention anything positive entailing Muslims, so thank you very much! The reason I´m saying this is because our name gets dragged through the mud ONLY when negative things happen, and then the same people go "But this doesn´t have anything to do with Islam!" as soon as we´re connected to something positive, some scientific miracle or great contribution to the world (as in the Golden Age of Muslim scientists who then got their names deliberately Latinised). With such an influential and thorough doctor like you mentioning Muslims in a positive way, it really feels inclusive and fair. Just, thank you and God bless you!
    Now, fasting is of course done in many religions, that´s for sure, but we Muslims are encouraged to observe "Sunnah" by fasting Mondays and Thursdays (dry-fast), and it is now called the 5:2 diet. That´s very intriguing! Another thing we call "Sunnah", is to sit down when drinking water (and eating). That´s also been scientifically proven to be beneficial. I would love to hear your take on the 5:2 diet, as you always include such fascinating scientific research. (A Japanese scientist has even done research on Zam-Zam water, and proven that just ONE drop of Zam-Zam changes all the other water molecules! We do a lot of spiritual healing with the Zam-Zam water).
    Also, we are encouraged to break the dry-fast with a date, specifically an UNEVEN amount of dates, like 1 or 3. I wonder, is there any science supporting that yet? See, there are a lot of things we do, because we believe that God knows best and there must be a reason why He commanded us to, but we don´t always find out the "why" until many centuries after, such as science finally explaining dry-fasting now 1450 years later.
    (Dr.Moseley is no longer with us, but he too used to speak of the Islamic fast and the 5:2 "Sunnah way of fasting". R.I.P dr.Moseley).

It was just what I needed to hear to begin to understand maybe why though I do everything right, IF for 18/6, no carbs, no sugar, little fruit, water, tea and coffee in the morning, fresh, organic, whole foods, and I’m not able to burn fat. Tonight after dinner, which is in the oven now, I will do a 36 hour fast! I can’t wait to see what happens!

    I love listening to Dr Mindy!! She's so passionate about this subject and provides so much information, it's sometimes hard to take it all in!! But best of all she is so encouraging and uplifting, and makes you feel that fasting is truly something you can master too!!! I've been applying intermittent fasting for about 3 months now, on and off depending on my travels for work, and between yesterday and today I've done my first 20 hour fast, and I'm encouraged now to push on to try and get to 25 hours and up to the 36 hour fast! And being obese and loving food, fasting was never something I wanted to even try let alone do for any length of time!! And I'm seeing the results!! Thank you, Dr Mindy!!! ❤

      Robyn, you can do it! I’m totally food obsessed (not of fast food though), love cooking n eating different cuisines but after “chancing” on Dr M’s videos I decided on a 36hr fast cold turkey! Wanting to reverse Diabetes 2, bring down inflammation in my body as I have osteoarthritis n weight to lose! I’d listened to Dr Jason Fung n Dr William Lee n a few others but Dr Mindy’s protocol for Women spoke to me. I got my To Do List out n kept very busy! Early dinner knocked off 12hrs, I drank only mineral water with lemon all day! It really works! I can walk without constant pain so I went on to do the 72hrs! Still going so You Can Do this! Everyone who knows how much I adore food can’t believe that I’ve started IF and the longer fasts especially!

I also didnt realize about the 36:12 ADF. That made me happy & im going to do that,!!! That makes more sense to me..🤗🤗🤗❤️❤️❤️

    Great job with the dandelions Mindy! I've been foraging and eating them for a few years now. I have a big colander that I wash them in. Sometimes I take it with me hiking and foraging. Why wasn't I doing this before?!? It demonstrates how brainwashed we all can be - if we don't turn our minds on and think clearly about things. I've lived on my land for 30 years with zero pesticides. I created rocked off sections of the yard for the dandelion, figwort, chickweed, sorrel, hogweed, etc. etc. etc., and even a place on the other side of the alley (into the woods) for the thistles. I did this for the benefit of the birds, bees, and butterflies (gold finches LOVE the thistles! me n the dog hate thistle, but we LOVE the goldfinches!) I'm so glad I did this, then I realized - why am *I* not eating some of those greens?!?! Purslane, Broad and lance leaf plantain, figwort, sorrel, chickweed, hogweed, etc. etc. Purslane is considered a "superfood" by those who've studied it, it's growing around everywhere, there for free - and everyone goes to buy kale and spinach and tries to kill purslane!!! Well, i guess I shouldn't talk about this - I get it all for free, greedy marketers haven't learn to exploit all of this yet. Sssshhhhh....🤫🤭😄 I must say, it's important to do GOOD research before foraging (not "click bait" or AI) from experienced foragers. We can eat most of the plants in most of our yards, as long as they aren't sprayed with toxins, but we need to know the few plants that ARE dangerous. Dandelions are easy for everyone tho! I pick the smaller leaves for my salads, as they're tender and mild. I pick the larger leaves, stems, flowers etc. that are more bitter and cut up smaller or lightly sautee with onion and garlic. My favorite is dandelion pesto!!! I can easily use the bitter portions as the garlic and almonds or walnuts or pine nuts and other flavors I add easily blend that bitter down. Half my salads come from the yard now, greens that I did NOTHING to grow, but also do NOTHING to destroy and kill. it's still crazy to me that people are killing these plants, often using toxic poison - instead of harvesting and eating them - for free! Along with leaving them for the birds, butterflies, and bees. And as always, thank you so much for all the in depth and detailed information on fasting - for us girls!!! We need that badly, and you share it so generously. 💞💝💖💕

    I started with 36 hours fasting once a week until I learned about ADF (Alternate Day Fasting) which changed my life. I enjoy food & I have a huge appetite, so I struggled with CICO. Even with less calories, I wasn’t losing weight, it didn’t make me feel good. With ADF, I went from 130lbs to 110lbs and I can still enjoy the food I want during feast days but I now rarely drink alcohol & soda. We also use coconut oil for cooking.

      @DrMindyPelz I am blown away… here is why: 1.Your way of explaining the science and the logic behind your techniques is incredible. 2. Your way of motivating us and planting love for our own bodies is incredible. 3. I was fasting and doing everything “right” according to Fast Like a Girl, but still with no results. I am 47 years old and have multiple health issues (I am on HRT, have fibromyalgia, two extremely inflamed cervical herniated discs and have gained massive weight for my size and my fat to muscle ratio is waaaaay offf. Then I watched those video, it was posted about a day after I had been complaining to my husband about how frustrated I am because nothing I do is moving the scale, calming the inflammation or changing my fat percentage. He told me to calm down, and maybe accept that this is my reality now and maybe not stress myself about it. But then, this video came, as if you heard me and made a video FOR ME. So I decided to try the 36 hour fast, and even though I don’t have a cycle, I still follow the fasting schedule you explained in your book Fast Like a Girl. Your specific words “the 36 hour fast is like a switch to prime the body to burn the fat it stored” were the hope I needed. I did a 43 hour fast!!!! And I could have pushed longer, but I was taking too many ibuprofens because of the neck pain and I was very irritable, so I stopped at 43 hours. BUT BOY OH BOY…did that TRIGGER you explained work!!!! Not only did I feel amazing when I finished my fast, but I also felt incredible the day after, had more energy and willpower to fast even more so that after my 43 hour fast I had an eating window of 1 hour and started another fast for 23 hours. Suddenly my bloating went away, I lost 3 pounds and suddenly half an inch was gone from the waist and from the thighs. I am shocked. I am so grateful that I found you on UA-cam, bought your book, follow you and never miss a video, send your videos to everyone I know who needs your advice, and I am very very grateful that you have explained to us that we should love our bodies and show some love to it. I also try very hard to follow your advice on lowering cortisol. I feel very lucky to have found Dr. Mindy Pelz. THANK YOU FOR DOING WHAT YOU DO!!!!!!!❤❤❤

    Hi Dr Mindy, I recently moved to Canada from France, and after the move, I gained weight and found myself eating a lot of sugar and sometimes processed foods. I was constantly tired, with no energy, not wanting to do anything, even after a good night's sleep or a nap during the day. I still felt exhausted!
    Thank God I found your videos! It changed my life! I started following your advice on fasting by paying attention to my cycle and being mindful of what I eat. I had my first 44 hours fast. I feel so amazing! I’ve lost 6.8 kg (approx 15 pounds) getting nearer and nearer to me normal weight! I’m full of energy. I also walk a lot during the week. My public enemy number one is sugar and processed foods! 😂 changing everything in my fridge…even my old milk to a grass fed milk!

In 3 weeks, I've lost 10 pounds of stubborn baby weight. That type of momentum has given me motivation to continue to improve my health for me and my family! Thank you again for all the hard work and research you've put into your books and channel! It's invaluable information.

    I bought your book a few months ago. I’ve followed the 30 day suggested IF plan for months and have not seen much of a weight loss. It’s a little confusing to me bc I’m in perimenopause and at the point where I get my cycle every 2-3 months. I’ve resisted longer than 20 hr fasts but this video has finally convinced me to try the 36 hr as it’s obvious nothing else is working. 🤞

    Dr. Mindy, I really have to write this comment here because the advice you gave in this video literally transformed my general being , and my mood. First of all, I have to put down here that I really admire the way you are putting all this effort to motivate us, women, and your words and your Way of talking is really very uplifting. And then the way you explain things, the logic behind the techniques. It’s just incredible and it’s very understandable and applicable. So I was stuck and I am 47 year old woman who is not having a cycle for already quite a bit, I am on hormone replacement therapy. I have fibromyalgia and I have two severely inflamed and painful cervical herniated discs that are giving me the hardest time ever. I read your book Fast Like a Girl and in my mind I have been doing everything right according to your book, although I don’t have a cycle, so I tried to adopt the techniques, explained in the book for women like me who don’t have a cycle. But as of lately, I had not been very good with my nutrition, I have veryhigh Casein , lactose, gluten and histamine intolerance so that eating “healthy “ for me is a pain and there have been periods in the past few months II just let go, and I didn’t really pay attention to these, and I am paying the bill now. so to cut the story short, I gained quite a bit of fat weight, and of course, slowed down my metabolism even more and made it even harder to lose the weight, even with the guidelines in your book. Last week one night I was complaining to my husband about how frustrated I am because I’m trying and trying and nothing’s happening, the inflammation isn’t coming down and the weight is not coming down and I feel so lost and helpless. The day after this video appeared. Your words about 36 hour fasting being like a switch to the body to burn fat kind of resonated with me a lot and so I decided to go for it. At the end of my 43 hour fast, which I could’ve probably extended to 48 but I was taking so many ibuprofens that I didn’t want to push myself that hard, I ended up feeling incredible, my energy was better, my weight had come down by 3 pounds, I could already see my face more relaxed and I just thought this must be a miracle. My guts felt better and my belly was not bloated anymore. All of this happened with just one 43 hour fast. So I ate with pleasure and I kept it within one hour so that I moved on straight to my next 23 hour fast. That felt amazing as well. I really want to thank you here, I really want to let you know that what you’re doing for us is amazing, all the time you’re investing, and the way you are trying to motivate us with all the information and all the knowledge this is invaluable, so a big big thank you from the bottom of my heart Dr. Mindy.❤❤❤❤❤

    I recently saw a nutritionist because of issues with post menopausal weight gain that I can't seem to get rid of plus elevated glucose ( borderline pre-diabetic). He said that while intermittent fasting is great, he said my blood results make him suspect that I suffer from adrenal fatigue and chronic elevated cortisone. He said he felt intermittent fasting was not advisable for me till we balanced the adrenals.

In the beginning I had some crazy migraine attacks, but already after a week my body got adapted to it and I dont feel hungry at all on fasting days. I've lost 23 lbs in 43 days. Would you recommend prolonged ADF for young women? I’m fasting according to the reset outlined in your book and I have avoided fasting on the days that it said I shouldn’t. I am interested in trying out a 30 day ADF challenge but I don’t want to mess with my hormones!

      Hi there- ultimately, it's your body and your choice to do a 30-day ADF. However, if you are a cycling woman, you may wreck your hormones. 💙Dr. Mindy's Team

    What can you drink or eat if you need to take medicine & can't take it on an empty stomach?

    • @DrMindyPelz
      @DrMindyPelz  5 місяців тому +1

      Always take your medications as prescribed, and check with your pharmacist. Some people can take their Rx medications with a bit of fat, or some wilted greens and fat. You will still get great fasting benefits! Please be aware that you may be more sensitive to some medications in a fasting window.

    Dr Mindy or anybody who might know, why is my sleep quality poor during the resting phase 10 days before my period starts? Im exhausted by the end of the day yet I always wake up in the night and can't go back to sleep for like an hour. During my high estrogen phase my sleeping is normal. Thank you for the help!

    • @DrMindyPelz
      @DrMindyPelz  5 місяців тому

      Generally, sleep quality appears to be lowest during the mid-to-late luteal phase. Falling levels of estrogen and progesterone in the days before your period are also linked to reduced sleep quality. Make sure you're eating the right food to support hormones. 🙂
