I have a 2015 V Star Tourer .Saying that installing the rear seat was difficult is an understatement.
The rear tab does not allow any flexibility for even the slightest adjustment in length. There was at least a 1/4 inch gap between the front seat bracket and the fender bracket My friend and I pushed and pounded for nearly 2 hours before giving up. It was only 50 degrees out and I was afraid something would break if I tried to force it on if I could get the screws even started. Did get the front seat on after bouncing on it a couple of times. Is very comfortable.Does move me forward a little, but at 5’6” that’s a plus. Going to try again on a warmer day or with a heat gun .
Thanks so much for the video, it made me smile to know it wasn’t only me who had a hard time.
Wow, that sounds epic!!! I hope once it is on it can come off and go back on with a bit more ease when necessary. Best of luck with that. Thanks for watching, JL.

I have a 2015 V-Star 950 that already had the Mustang seat on it. I pulled it off to get the tool kit out and yes, it's a challenge to get the front catch to lock in!
I suppose that means it's a perfect fit!! Thanks for watching, JL.

Thanks for this!! I put mine on today and couldn't figure out how to put the back rest on because there were no instructions. I'll try again tomorrow, thanks again.
You are welcome, I hope everything worked out. JL
@@lendermanshop yes it Worked perfectly! But when I sit back as far as possible I still don't have the back support I need. The short screw in the back of the seat should be like 2 inches. Also there's no way to keep the back rest raised, it keeps sliding back down. Any suggestions on how I can make this backrest work for me?
@@darlenesroom1989 Hmm! I keep the back rest all of the way down which seems to give me the best support. I know what you mean by the screw length, you might be able to find a longer one at Home Depot or Lowes, or go online to fine a shiny chrome one. Be sure to get the correct thread. Maybe a wrap of tape on the backrest post will help keep the rest up where you need it. I am interested in how you make out.
@@lendermanshop thanks again for responding. I called Mustang and she directed me the screw underneath the seat that adjusts the backrest height. I was able to raise the backrest a bit higher then turn the screw to lock it into place. As for the bolt to bring the backrest more forward, I did go to Lowes with the bolt and got both a 1in and 1 1/2in bolt. It's size M8 and 5/16 whichever one you fancy. The Mustang rep also emailed me the instructions to adjust the backrest and offered to send me the 1in bolt as well. But I opted to just go pick one up while this was fresh on my mind. Tomorrow I will see which of the two works best.
Thanks again for you videos, I appreciate you.
Nice to see the cut away on the screw rubbing on the back seat. It would've been more informative to see close ups of the latch mechanisms. Hope it's more comfortable.
I appreciate your suggestion. Here is my 1 year review, thanks for watching! ua-cam.com/video/Q_5zQHlHe9E/v-deo.html
Thank you for the video. I was hoping you would show us what it looks like with your actual seating position (you sitting on your new seat). I've read other reviewers state that they noticed the seat pushed them further forward than stock. Judging by the look of the seat, it looks entirely plausible. Though if you are shorter that may be bonus!
Hi Michael, I hope to do more of a rider review in the future. To answer your question though, yes it does push me forward a bit- This causes some cramping with the brake pedal. It's not a huge issue unless I end up in stop and go traffic. Otherwise I really like the seat, I will never go without a back rest again! Thanks for watching, JL.

Hey, thanks for the video. I am just trying to install this on my '09 Star Touring and having a b!+(# of a time with the rider portion of the seat. It appears that one of the 2 rubber stoppers by the bracket that catches with the locking mechanism stops it from going low enough and the one on the other side isn't even close to touching anything. Looks like they should both be wider or closer together.
I'll try what you did, again and then may need to shave the one bumper down a tad.
Happy riding!
I agree, it is a really tight fit. How did you make out? Here is my 1 year review, thanks for watching! ua-cam.com/video/Q_5zQHlHe9E/v-deo.html

Yes, I got 'er to fit in there with my knee in just the right spot. 😉 Your advice was exactly what I needed to hear.
Thank you! 🙏😊

Good and helpful video,by the way how much was the seat? Thanks!✌️
Thanks! I paid $629.99 + tax for a total of 667.79 from Dennis Kirk. I ordered back on April 2, 2021 and waited about 6 weeks for it to arrive. Dennis Kirk had the lowest price of anyone online at that time, but now I think they have it up to over $700. They must have been behind on their pricing for the year. I really should have bought it last year when everyone had it listed for around $625.00, including the shop where I have my bike serviced. Thanks for watching and happy riding, JL.

anyone know if this seat pushes you back few inches away from the tank? I'm very tall and can't seem to get a definite answer.
Hi Eric, This seat has definitely moved me a bit closer to the tank and I have even looked into a brake pedal extender. With the more cushion it was inevitable. Thanks for watching, JL.

Whoops, I forgot to mention that in the video! I have a 2015 V Star! Thanks for watching, JL.
