I bought a used ($200 great shape) mustang seat set with the studs. I love it on my 09 v star 950. I just use the drivers seat & I put almost 20,000 miles on mine it the last 6 years. Its way more comfortable than the stock seat for sure!
I completely agree, the stock seat has very little padding. That was a great find for the price. Enjoy the many miles to come. Thanks for watching, JL.
I did! I bought the Mustang but I’m not impressed so far. Hang on a couple of weeks and I’ll txt you back. My wife loves her seat. She said all she needs now is floorboards.
I heard E.D. Touring is a very comfortable seat a bit too expensive, though,... stay away from jell seats they're the worst, especially in cold weather, when it settle down its like you're sitting in a wooden seat.
Thanks for the tip on jell seats, the thought did cross my mind to extend my rides. This seat gets better over time the more I ride in a season, I guess from breaking it in as well as physical endurance. Thanks for watching, JL.
How tall are you? I just put one on my 09, 950, I’m 5’10” , 180 lbs and 66 years old. I noticed right off that at stop position the seat hurts my hips real bad and my heals don’t reach the ground like my stock seat did. What’s your thoughts?
Hi Stan, I actually saw your post in the FB group the other day but did not have time to comment. I am 5'10' as well but closer to 150 lbs!! ...though I don't think that should be an issue. I have no problem touching the ground but I also have long legs. I guess the wideness of the seat would contribute to the thigh issue at stop, but certainly is a positive while moving. If you can tolerate it, I think a little time to break it in might help a bit. Did you also get the back rest? That was huge for me. My biggest issue is how far up my feet have moved. I certainly hope in time that you are able to get comfortable and enjoy the ride. Thanks for watching.
Yes I got the backrest, I couldn’t ride very far if I didn’t have it. I put a lowering kit on today. I put it on 2” but I might have to redo and put it on 1”. I like the new stance, I like the way it sits with the kickstand down but I have an unidentified thump when I hit a dip. Nothing is rubbing either.

got a 1300 VStar looking at seats myself, Mustang, Ultimate and Saddlemen. Looking like the Ultimate or the Mustang is the way to go.
Have you made a decision yet?? Time to ride! Thanks for watching, JL.

Does the 950 have a shock adjustment that you know of?
