Like owning a Harley that doesn't cost a thousand bucks every time it breaks down ! !

I own a 2015 Yamaha V-Star 950. My prior bike was a 2011 V-Star 650 Custom. I put over 50,000 miles on the V-Star 650 in 5 seasons. The 950 is everything the 650 was but much more. I find the 950 extremely comfortable and very stable. It has plenty of power to carry my 5 foot six, 190 lbs frame across the county or across state lines. I get about 50 miles to a gallon of gas. I just love this bike. Thanks Sean. Hoping to make the ride from Buffalo, NY to your shop one of these days to meet you guys in person. Go Bills!

I've been riding since I was 10 years old (going on 60 now) and it baffles me when people "don't know when to shift"....it's like second nature to me......who needs a tach when you have ears and fingers?

Just bought a 2015, V-Star 950 yesterday with under 850 miles on it for under 4K!! I am very excited for some warmer weather! Thanks to this video and many other SRK videos in helping me make my decision. I have been riding a NightHawk 650 for over 28 years!! God bless!

what do Americans consider as non-beginner bikes? A 950 is not in any way a beginner platform.

I'm 5'3" and it works great for me. Use the heal shifter and you don't have to get under the toe.

I really like the HD Heritage. Thought I would buy one at one time, but rented a couple and then found out it is just too small for someone 6'2". Yamaha knows bigger riders. That's why I'm on a Yamaha Stratoliner.

Love my V-Star. 6’2”, 250 lbs. Fits perfectly. Plenty of power.

I have a 2010 vstar 950 tourer. I replaced the stock seat and passenger seat with the Mustang combo. A little pricey at $500 but well worth it. I also put a throttle control on it for under $200 (self installed), also well worth it for those long rides. Rode the Million Dollar Highway in Colorado a few years back. My bike performed as good as expected. I like the floor boards over pegs, put floor boards on for my passenger too. Haven't been riding much lately but hopefully I'll get back to Colorado this year. My buddy rode his Harley when we went and had to stop to buy ear plugs during our ride. I personally like a more quiet ride. Not trying to dog on Harley but the Japanese bikes are what I prefer...

Thank you for the awesome review of the V-Star 950. I am currently riding a beeaauuutiful Blue 950 Tourer. It also has the V&H pipes on it and sounds just like on your video. Whoever picks that one up is going to have a load of fun on it.

I own this bike, just a 2010 Tourer model and I also own a Harley Davidson 48. I call the Vstar the Lincoln Towncar because it rides so smooth, easy and quiet.

Liked the comparison you made at the start. It really helps with making ur mind up on what to go for I think.

    I had a brand new XVS1100 VStar back in 1998 and now in 2023 I'm riding a 2013 XVS950A.

I love my v-star 950 tourer. Handles great, very stable and really comfortable. Good power even for two up riding. I ride 100 miles round trip to work and to my cabin in ski country also 100 mile round trip from home base in the opposite direction. When at my cabin I ride 200 mile round trip to work (I love it makes me not mind working) The 950 I believe is the perfect bike when you compare weight, comfort, handling and price. Bottom line Yamaha makes a good bike. I use to ride a v-star 650 custom put over 50,000 miles on that bike in 5 seasons. Hoping to put over 100,000 miles on my 950. Loving riding in western New York. Go Bills!!!

I had the 2012 VStar 950 Tourer. Never had an issue. I traded it for a 2014 Road King. The 959 had a short geared 5 speed. In 5th gear at 50mph! Didn't have enough power for the highway. So traded it.
