@@ericx7476 I was reading into it some more. Removes the fuel cut-out that's been annoying me for ages. just fixing that alone is worth it. Already ripped the fuel management out of the bike!
I owned a 2005 Harley Sporteer 1200C when I stared ride at the age of 55. Love my bike had factory updated done including exhaust and carb jets... Long sad story and had to seel to save my house, that failed... but now owner a 2nd Owner 2009 V-Star 950 and this bike changed my feelings about a "foreign" bike. LOVE IT! Planning on doing the Cobra Exhaust Slip-On Muffler soon as I can remove the old bolts holding it in place... and then the Intake. Thanks to you, I know I can do this. Old Mann 64 Years OLD
Excellent to hear Chip! My first bike was also a Sportster 1200. Wanted to do longer highway rides so i swapped to the V-Star; love it. Best of luck with the install. Some penetrating oil on the muffler bolts should help out. Also I highly recommend getting Ivan's ECU flash. It smooths out low throttle conditions among other things. Good luck!
I am taking delivery of my 2011 model this coming weekend. Looking though videos like this for ideas and tips so I know what to expect. Thank you for this. Greetings from South Africa.
Very good video, no fluff or stupid jokes. I've been without a scooter for a while after having 3 Harleys; 1200 Sporty, Fatboy then a Road King. I couldn't turn into a Harley guy and ended up just being a guy with a Harley. Lol. I really like this bike.
I have 2013 yamaha vstar touring 950 the rear brake caliper is get stuck after 10 minutes drive i change the brake hose and master cylinder .and still after 10 minutes wants to get stuck.what can it be
That's a lot of troubleshooting work already. is the brake pedal returning to the proper position? The piston inside the caliper might be getting stuck. Is the caliper bracket bent at all (are the pads parallel to the rotor?) good luck
I left the intake and exhaust. Exhaust is pretty good. Not as deep and throaty as I wanted, but it still sounds much better than the stock setup. I sent back the fuel chip and had the ECU Flashed by Ivan - it was 100% worth it.
Just got a 2014 Vstar 950 last week, nice bike bro!! And it sounds so fucking nice!! I love my bike it’s my first bike and I’m not disappointed. How much was all of it?
There's no noticeable difference in fuel economy, I still get 43-46mpg There IS a big difference in power, especially the mid-range. The tune also bumps the RPM limiter up a bit, so the top end is taller. I can't recommend it enough. I've updated the video description with a link to Ivan's ECU tune page. you can see the dyno numbers and they don't lie.
Maybe? When you add the new intake, your engine is getting more air than it was before - it might throw off the fuel/air mix and you could start running lean. Lean = hot and isn't healthy for the bike. I really don't know how this bike will respond.
Do you find the new intake is tighter to the bike or does it stick out more? My one gripe about my vstar is that the way the stock intake sticks out causes my leg to sit in a way that I have to awkwardly rotate my ankle a bit to use the back brake and I'm a bit concerned that in an emergency I may miss the pedal when I go for it.
It's tighter in to the bike, and it's smaller overall. I just took a measurement because I still have the stock intake up on the shelf. The stock intake sticks out 4.5" from the face of the intake. The Cobra intake is 4". You can definitely get your leg closer into the bike.
Smiley's Garage would you mind telling me what you set your 3 pots at, im tring to get some ideas on what diiferent setting i could try on mine, thank you
Hey Justin. I was messing with them for a few days and wasn't really satisfied. I ended up removing the trimmer and sent the ECU to get tuned. WELL worth it.
I bought the bike with them installed. I bought the bike used second-hand at a dealer so I'm not sure if it was an aftermarket mod or not, but they are Yamaha brand.
Hello there i have a 1999 Yamaha v star series 1100cc,I'm having some problems with the bike,we'll here's a thing i charged the battery Sence yesterday and we'll the bike dies quick do you think it could be the shock or some sensor ?
Intro is my band. Outro was a something I recorded ages ago and have been sitting on. The time-lapses are John Maxwell I think; songs UA-cam provides for background stuff.
The fuel management is a waste of money. The best thing to do on this bike is Ivan’s ECU flash. It really wakes up the bike.
Hmmm... I didn't know about the ECU flash... The Dyno numbers look great. Might do this instead! Thanks for letting me know!
@@SmileysGarage it’s not so much about the numbers but, the problems that are removed. It really makes the bike feel & perform better.

@@SmileysGarage 👍 hopefully you get the Ivan’s flash
I’m saving up for the ecu flash & air intake, really wakes the bike up.
That deep rumbling purr on the down shift is just utter bliss

Haha I totally understand that. Thanks for the watch!
I have the same set up on my bike. Including the Mustang seat.
Pricey but worth it. Of all the mods I did to that bike, the seat was the best investment.
i am from France. great vidéo. i am looking to find a better sound for my Yamaha xvs midnightstar 950. is it your only vidéo on this bike ?
Excellent
I’d like something in between. There’s always one,is there more power or just street cred💫
There is more power. Especially with the Ivan tune on there.

Did the conversion effect your mileage??
hey if I do just a new air intake is it 100% necessary to change the fuel management or do ivans ecu flash? or can I just leave it stock ECU?
