Sorry I don't have an actual 3DS capturing device. Those things are dang pricey! I tried to record in a number of environments keeping the device as still as possible, so thank you for your understanding!
Hehehee, it's 'Amiibo'. Anyway, if you scan an Amiibo character from the game, you get a random weapon for them. If you scan one that isn't, you get a random gift. Anywhere from 1 rupee, 5,000 rupees, 50,000 rupees, or 10 character badge materials.
Hyrule Warriors was one of the most surprisingly addictive games I've ever played. I've literally played it so much that my disc sometimes doesn't even work and I'm still not even near completing it. This review has made me even more excited for it. Those changes look incredible and I'm so hyped now!! :D
1: Thank goodness you don't only care about the graphics. That's always been a thing that most of my friends or family cared most about a game, and it infuriates me. 2: Did not know you can move your CPU controlled warriors like that. Neat! This channel gets my sub!

IF YOU HAVE A QUESTION READ THIS POST Sorry I haven't been answering all the questions out there, there have been some repeats but I just can't keep up with how fast they've been coming in. I'm going to address the most common right now. *How does it run on the original 3DS?* I can't say. My first 3DS was a N3DS. If you own a Pre-N3DS, I really suggest you download the demo available for free on the Nintendo eShop and see how it plays. I've heard from people who say that it's fine, I've heard from people who say that it was too low for them. Don't just assume either because other people said so, see for yourselves with the demo! *Does it really run at 60 fps on the New 3DS?* No, it doesn't. I was mistaken on this. Slowdown has happened in extremely rare cases, but I've never had it really affect the gameplay too negatively. Still, it can happen. *Do all of the new costumes (from the Wind Waker adventure) transfer to the Wii U?* No, they don't. Only Ganondorf's trident, Skull Kid, Linkle, Toon Link, Tetra, and the King of Hyrule themselves transfer. *Is (specific costume) available in this version?* Unless it was a pre-order only thing on Wii U, I can pretty much confirm this. I haven't unlocked everything yet, but I can confirm some DLC only costumes, like the Skyward Sword Link/Zelda/Ganondorf are in the game, so it would make sense the others are too. *When you control multiple characters, can other characters get hurt while I'm playing?* *And, does that damage affect your rank in the adventure mode battles?* Yes, the other characters can take damage. Usually this is extremely small, but one good thing about the player change system is if you see one of your controllable allies is close to death, you can take control of them and go look for healing by cutting grass, etc. Also, the damage your controllable allies take while NOT in your control doesn't affect your adventure mode rank. They've got to be in your control for it to count. *Anything else?* Yes, I forgot to mention two big things in this review. First, I forgot to say that there is no challenge mode. No playing as Beast Ganon or the Giant Cucco. Not a big loss in my opinion. Second, I forgot to mention the new Wind Waker content in greater detail. There are 2 new maps to play on, one based on WW's Outset Island and one based on WW's Earth Temple. Also, there are 2 new bosses, the Helmaroc King and Phantom Ganon. Both of these are done very well, and in retrospect I suppose it is good that I didn't mention them because that is a bit spoilerish to go into everything about the fight. Enjoy fighting them when you get to them! Thanks for all the responses everybody, it's been a rush.

I think the character switching is a pretty good addition to the game too. Omega force has been doing that for their games more and more now outside of just the Warriors Orochi series which is a great!

Wow, glad to know to this is made easier in some parts, i'm STILL on the original Adventure Mode map, i haven't touched the DLC ones. SO HYPED for this game. Can't wait for Friday of next week. Oh my god. I am getting it tomorrow on release, but you made me realize the thing about using specific under-leveled characters. I'm so happy! Got stuck on so many missions trying to unlock weapons and stuff because the characters were bad and/or under leveled (I'm looking at you Agitha and Zant).
I'm in a writing mood anyway, so here's some running commentary, as I watch: Love that new intro. Your girlfriend BOUGHT YOU A WII U? Man, that's love. That's love right there. xD Woah, I had no idea that Dynasty Warriors had begat so many spinoffs. I think I saw Kalin play one on the PS2 a LONG time ago, but I've never played any of 'em, including Hyrule Warriors. I've always wanted to though, it looks really fun! The music in this intro is KIND of high-pitched and distracting. No idea what it's from or if it's tonally-appropriate, just thought I'd say so. Woah, nice that it includes EVERYTHING. It had a ton of DLC. Also really neat that you can bring the new stuff from the 3DS version to the Wii U! Your 3DS camera footage looks so much better than mine. I might need to ask you how you set that up if I ever do 3DS footage again, haha. HAHAHA HE TURNS INTO THE BOAT HAHAHAHA Yeah, I'm definitely not the kind of gamer who has to unlock EVERYTHING, so I doubt I'd do ALL OF THAT. It does look like a great fit for the 3DS, though. My Fairy doesn't look like the kind of thing that would interest me, but eh, cool that it's there nonetheless. One question that the chain system makes me wonder... does the game have co-op? Because I would play the HELL out of this if it had co-op, haha. You don't have to answer that, I can go look it up myself, but the fact that I want to shows how much you've piqued my interest!

I worked really hard on it! - That's true love mixed with a lot of begging *coughcough* suggesting. - I even left out a few. What's pretty neat is that they all have their own little variations that make it worthwhile to seek them out too! - The background music does start out rather strong. Perhaps I should have lowered it quicker than I did. - Only the characters and Ganondorf's new weapon. Everything else is new/exclusive to the 3DS version. - I put non-slip pad on a table, and used the 3DS stand from Kid Icarus-Uprising on top. I rubber banded the 3DS to that and positioned the camera (my webcam unfortunately) on a box in front of me. I tried different lighting in the room, different times of day, and different brightness settings on my 3DS. Somehow I think the one with the most lighting in the room with the 3DS brightness on full blast turned out the best. I actually referred to your Smash 4 video to compare when setting this up :) - I'M ON A BOAT! I AM THE BOAT! - If you go for all heart pieces and skulltulas it's overwhelming. Sticking to getting all the weapons and costumes is totally worth it and not that time-consuming. - Yeah, the My Fairy thing is just sort of innocuous. Once you have a fairy, you can't not select it so it is really just an invisible boost. But, on the right maps in adventure mode, that fairy bomb is just ridiculous. I think my record was over 600 kills with a single use. (those are the battles where they intentionally flood the screen and have you run wild) - There is no co-op unfortunately. The Wii U version does though! Unfortunately for that however, the game lowers to 30 fps on Wii U with two human players split screening it (I don't think there's non-local). I'm glad you enjoyed it buddy! :D
They probably won't do it because they assume most of the Fire Emblem fanbase like to play turn based rpg games. An action game like this might seems like a too different kind of game.

It's shame that they didn't remake more Zelda games for the DS series of handhelds. It's also sad that they have discontinued the DS line now, because the Switch Lite just doesn't hit the spot like the DS/3DS did. I have almost every Nintendo handheld, because I never cared much about consoles.

+Ixbran I think it's a great choice, but I'm not 100% convinced. The white on the back of Midna's cloak and brown hair matches, plus they're both princesses, but Twilight Princess Zelda's blouse is just such a different color. All the ones I pointed out were a dead ringer for the color choices, but Midna's purple and Zelda's dark pink are totally off. If it were Ocarina Zelda with her purple dress it would make a lot of sense, but in that case the hair color is off again.
GamesBrained I just find that the colors, while not the same shades, are exactly the same: Purple, White, and brown hair. Really to me what else could it be ya know?
As long as you don't mind the conmstant dropped frames (even on the NN3DS without 3d on) and the smudged and compressed textures which are the textures from the Wii U version down scaled. The only thing this port did that was good was allowing the player to switch between character mid-battle.

+RandomGingerKing Now that comparison really doesn't work. Obviously good graphics are better, but if the game is good it should also be fine with bad graphics. That comparison especially doesn't work for Hyrule Warriors considering Legends is way better in terms of content.
I must be the rarest case then, I wouldn't call myself a total Zelda fan, as each time I've tried to get into any of the actual main Zelda titles console or handheld, I've always found myself overwhelmed by how big the world is, not to mention the fact that there's so many sidequests that I really don't know what's worth my time bothering to get in the game in the long-run, and which sidequests are just a huge waste of my time, however I do like the lore of the Zelda universe, and I enjoy the costumes and outfits Nintendo puts in games like Animal Crossing as the Link costume is one of the outfits I wear most since it was introduced in City Folk and onwards, but to be fair it's not that hard to beat another game's lore when the other franchises I pay attention to happens to be the Super Mario series, especially considering what Nintendo has been doing to the Mario RPGs in terms of story lately. However I do like the gameplay of Hyrule Warriors since it's a bit easier to understand andgetting certain things are a bit more simplified, as I've discovered through this game that hack and slash games are a lot like taking a side scrolling beat em' up (one of my favorite video game genres since I started gaming as a little kid) and turning itnto 3D game, much like the 2D side scroller making the leap to the 3D platformer I see hack and slash as a bit of like that for the 2D side scrolling beat e' up, and yeah closest I've ever gotten to actually playing a Zelda game all the way through, was being the Tingle Tuner for my sister back on the original Gamecube version of the Wind Waker as I stayed with her as long a the game would allow me to help her throughout that game. Anyway to be honest I'm not much of a fan of Zela outside of it's lore and never played a Dynasty Warriors game as I never owned any non-Nintendo console outside of a Sega Genesis or XBOX 360 or XBOX One, only Playstation games I've played are Kingdom Hearts 1 and Rayman Revolution both for PS2 and I got stuck trying to grind to be so overpowerd because I had reached that one Riku fight in Hallow Bastion not only knowing the stories but getting to see how much of a nightmare it was firsthand by watching my sister play it, eventually the grinding got really boring and I never finished and Rayman Revolution was a former friend of my two sister's game that eventually got too scratched to even use, so yeah since Dynasty Warriors has mostly Playstation games I'd never heard of it. Though despite not being too much of a fan of either series I still found Hyrule Warriors plenty fun, as I said games that are like the beat em' ups I've played are one of my favorite genres and Hyrule Warriors kind of like a 3D version of that. Anyway would you pretty much call this the definitive version of the game? As you said it's hard to go back to the Wii U version since this pretty much fixes a lot of problems and has new content on top of that as well as all the DLC stuff right out of the box, and it seems to extend the Legend mode beyond what was already in it, as someone who really enjoyed Cia's tale wishing there was still more to add to Legend mode on the Wii U version as well as wishing for a more cinematic additions to Legend mode what you described sounds like I'd njoy having it, after all I kind of felt wanting more additional stuff to the story, and while Cia's Tale was cool and all it just made me wish they had also done other additional DLC to the Legend mode in the other DLC packs that came afterwards, and the fact that I can easily manage a battle and don't have to put up with the unnecessary BS of of cpu controlled player characters getting their asses handed to them and costing me a ton in battles really makes me happy. Anyway so like I said would you pretty much say Legends is the definitive version of the game? I'm not sure if you would actually go that far saying that or not but due to everything you've said it sounds like that may be the case.
I owned this on Wii U, but i had to get 3DS version too which is impressive considering the hardware. 3DS version unlocks 5 extra characters and a few "fatality" weapons for free on Wii U btw.
On the note that at this time you didn't know how to unlock Clock town(majoras mask adventure map) And the Twilight Princess adventure map. You unlock both of them in the Master quest map on Space A-1 mission, "Defeat the Demon King" This will unlock both of them immediately after as with the Great Sea and the Master quest maps. Lets Just say if you thought it was Annoying to unlock Child/Young Link, your in for quite a bit of Rage
yes but that relies on having full HP. And when you can have a nearly infinite source of magic it hardly matters, and the fairy clothes can make your magic drain even slower. And using the master sword loses any abilities such as Rupees+ and the like.
Good review, haven't seen many other reviews of this game that are not essentially "It's uglier than the Wii-U version, Don't buy". And as a part of the "HW Hundred Hour Club" I appreciate the explanations of the new mechanics, and what has changed.

Damn... This review has sold me... I didn't realize there was so much to this new game. I was mostly considering it cause I wanted to be able to pick it up and play when I had some time, but I just had no idea this game was so amazing... I definitely still will play the Wii U version for my multiplayer needs, but I somehow doubt I'll be doing much more singleplayer-ing, unless the completionist inside gets a hold of me.
When I pre-ordered the 3DS version, I did not have a Wii U. Now that I do have one, and if the 3DS version really does come with a DLC download code, I may get the Wii U one later down the line.
Well I think that I've made my final choice of which 3DS game should I pick thanks to your review, I don't really mind for the framerate as long the game is playable and has more stuffs than the Wii U version. I was so happy for this game to be on the 3DS because I don't have a Wii U, I'm a huge Zelda & DW fan for years, so this game won't disappoint me ^_^ I thought very long to choose between FE Fates and HWL, even the game might be slow on my original 3DS, it's still has huge tons of contents and may take over 100-200+ hours than a 1/3 of a game (which can be finish in a couples of days) that I need to pay over 120$ for the full experience... (I live in Canada, everything is way too pricey now)

It's not like this is the first time that Koei has made an entry in the series, looked at it, made a better version of the game, and decided to release the enhanced version on weaker hardware. Dynasty Warriors 6- first released for the PS3, 360, and PC- saw an enhanced version made for the PS2.

Yeah, I'm definitely not the kind of gamer who has to unlock EVERYTHING, so I doubt I'd do ALL OF THAT. It does look like a great fit for the 3DS, though.

One question that the chain system makes me wonder... does the game have co-op? Because I would play the HELL out of this if it had co-op, haha. You don't have to answer that, I can go look it up myself, but the fact that I want to shows how much you've piqued my interest!

- I even left out a few. What's pretty neat is that they all have their own little variations that make it worthwhile to seek them out too!
- The background music does start out rather strong. Perhaps I should have lowered it quicker than I did.
- Only the characters and Ganondorf's new weapon. Everything else is new/exclusive to the 3DS version.
- I put non-slip pad on a table, and used the 3DS stand from Kid Icarus-Uprising on top. I rubber banded the 3DS to that and positioned the camera (my webcam unfortunately) on a box in front of me. I tried different lighting in the room, different times of day, and different brightness settings on my 3DS. Somehow I think the one with the most lighting in the room with the 3DS brightness on full blast turned out the best. I actually referred to your Smash 4 video to compare when setting this up :)

- If you go for all heart pieces and skulltulas it's overwhelming. Sticking to getting all the weapons and costumes is totally worth it and not that time-consuming.
- Yeah, the My Fairy thing is just sort of innocuous. Once you have a fairy, you can't not select it so it is really just an invisible boost. But, on the right maps in adventure mode, that fairy bomb is just ridiculous. I think my record was over 600 kills with a single use. (those are the battles where they intentionally flood the screen and have you run wild)
- There is no co-op unfortunately. The Wii U version does though! Unfortunately for that however, the game lowers to 30 fps on Wii U with two human players split screening it (I don't think there's non-local).

It's shame that they didn't remake more Zelda games for the DS series of handhelds.
It's also sad that they have discontinued the DS line now, because the Switch Lite just doesn't hit the spot like the DS/3DS did.
I have almost every Nintendo handheld, because I never cared much about consoles.

+Ixbran I think it's a great choice, but I'm not 100% convinced. The white on the back of Midna's cloak and brown hair matches, plus they're both princesses, but Twilight Princess Zelda's blouse is just such a different color. All the ones I pointed out were a dead ringer for the color choices, but Midna's purple and Zelda's dark pink are totally off. If it were Ocarina Zelda with her purple dress it would make a lot of sense, but in that case the hair color is off again.

As long as you don't mind the conmstant dropped frames (even on the NN3DS without 3d on) and the smudged and compressed textures which are the textures from the Wii U version down scaled. The only thing this port did that was good was allowing the player to switch between character mid-battle.

I must be the rarest case then, I wouldn't call myself a total Zelda fan, as each time I've tried to get into any of the actual main Zelda titles console or handheld, I've always found myself overwhelmed by how big the world is, not to mention the fact that there's so many sidequests that I really don't know what's worth my time bothering to get in the game in the long-run, and which sidequests are just a huge waste of my time, however I do like the lore of the Zelda universe, and I enjoy the costumes and outfits Nintendo puts in games like Animal Crossing as the Link costume is one of the outfits I wear most since it was introduced in City Folk and onwards, but to be fair it's not that hard to beat another game's lore when the other franchises I pay attention to happens to be the Super Mario series, especially considering what Nintendo has been doing to the Mario RPGs in terms of story lately.
However I do like the gameplay of Hyrule Warriors since it's a bit easier to understand andgetting certain things are a bit more simplified, as I've discovered through this game that hack and slash games are a lot like taking a side scrolling beat em' up (one of my favorite video game genres since I started gaming as a little kid) and turning itnto 3D game, much like the 2D side scroller making the leap to the 3D platformer I see hack and slash as a bit of like that for the 2D side scrolling beat e' up, and yeah closest I've ever gotten to actually playing a Zelda game all the way through, was being the Tingle Tuner for my sister back on the original Gamecube version of the Wind Waker as I stayed with her as long a the game would allow me to help her throughout that game.
Anyway to be honest I'm not much of a fan of Zela outside of it's lore and never played a Dynasty Warriors game as I never owned any non-Nintendo console outside of a Sega Genesis or XBOX 360 or XBOX One, only Playstation games I've played are Kingdom Hearts 1 and Rayman Revolution both for PS2 and I got stuck trying to grind to be so overpowerd because I had reached that one Riku fight in Hallow Bastion not only knowing the stories but getting to see how much of a nightmare it was firsthand by watching my sister play it, eventually the grinding got really boring and I never finished and Rayman Revolution was a former friend of my two sister's game that eventually got too scratched to even use, so yeah since Dynasty Warriors has mostly Playstation games I'd never heard of it. Though despite not being too much of a fan of either series I still found Hyrule Warriors plenty fun, as I said games that are like the beat em' ups I've played are one of my favorite genres and Hyrule Warriors kind of like a 3D version of that.
Anyway would you pretty much call this the definitive version of the game? As you said it's hard to go back to the Wii U version since this pretty much fixes a lot of problems and has new content on top of that as well as all the DLC stuff right out of the box, and it seems to extend the Legend mode beyond what was already in it, as someone who really enjoyed Cia's tale wishing there was still more to add to Legend mode on the Wii U version as well as wishing for a more cinematic additions to Legend mode what you described sounds like I'd njoy having it, after all I kind of felt wanting more additional stuff to the story, and while Cia's Tale was cool and all it just made me wish they had also done other additional DLC to the Legend mode in the other DLC packs that came afterwards, and the fact that I can easily manage a battle and don't have to put up with the unnecessary BS of of cpu controlled player characters getting their asses handed to them and costing me a ton in battles really makes me happy.
Anyway so like I said would you pretty much say Legends is the definitive version of the game? I'm not sure if you would actually go that far saying that or not but due to everything you've said it sounds like that may be the case.
+The #1 Yoshi I will say with utter certainty, for me, Hyrule Warriors Legends is the definitive version.

I owned this on Wii U, but i had to get 3DS version too which is impressive considering the hardware.
3DS version unlocks 5 extra characters and a few "fatality" weapons for free on Wii U btw.
On the note that at this time you didn't know how to unlock Clock town(majoras mask adventure map)
And the Twilight Princess adventure map. You unlock both of them in the Master quest map on Space A-1 mission, "Defeat the Demon King"
This will unlock both of them immediately after as with the Great Sea and the Master quest maps. Lets Just say if you thought it was Annoying to unlock Child/Young Link, your in for quite a bit of Rage

Young Link is definitely the most overpowered character in the game, not Link by any stretch.
yes but that relies on having full HP. And when you can have a nearly infinite source of magic it hardly matters, and the fairy clothes can make your magic drain even slower. And using the master sword loses any abilities such as Rupees+ and the like.
Good review, haven't seen many other reviews of this game that are not essentially "It's uglier than the Wii-U version, Don't buy". And as a part of the "HW Hundred Hour Club" I appreciate the explanations of the new mechanics, and what has changed.

Damn... This review has sold me... I didn't realize there was so much to this new game. I was mostly considering it cause I wanted to be able to pick it up and play when I had some time, but I just had no idea this game was so amazing... I definitely still will play the Wii U version for my multiplayer needs, but I somehow doubt I'll be doing much more singleplayer-ing, unless the completionist inside gets a hold of me.

When I pre-ordered the 3DS version, I did not have a Wii U. Now that I do have one, and if the 3DS version really does come with a DLC download code, I may get the Wii U one later down the line.
Well I think that I've made my final choice of which 3DS game should I pick thanks to your review, I don't really mind for the framerate as long the game is playable and has more stuffs than the Wii U version. I was so happy for this game to be on the 3DS because I don't have a Wii U, I'm a huge Zelda & DW fan for years, so this game won't disappoint me ^_^
I thought very long to choose between FE Fates and HWL, even the game might be slow on my original 3DS, it's still has huge tons of contents and may take over 100-200+ hours than a 1/3 of a game (which can be finish in a couples of days) that I need to pay over 120$ for the full experience... (I live in Canada, everything is way too pricey now)

It's not like this is the first time that Koei has made an entry in the series, looked at it, made a better version of the game, and decided to release the enhanced version on weaker hardware. Dynasty Warriors 6- first released for the PS3, 360, and PC- saw an enhanced version made for the PS2.
And then Definitive Edition came out and steam rolled the other two.
