Super glad someone else was working this drivetrain setup. I actually started doing the search for the exact same idea about two weeks ago. It will be going in a different import.

Curious to see the transmission tunnel and drivers footwell when wrapped up, awesome stuff! Gonna go with the trailblazer ss style pan I assume?

I'm doing a similar project on a Chevy Cobalt SS. I've got a Trailblazer SS pan, but the front diff mount location doesn't work out well with the front axle location. I had been planning to graft together two pans, to put it where I need it, but I recently saw how some awd Cadillacs do it, and now I'm thinking I might use a caddy front diff, and just find a front sump oil pan to make room. I've got a couple videos posted, I've got a trailblazer SS 5.3 dangling between the front fenders for mock up purposes, I'll be digging into the rest of the project soon.

Cool build, looking forward to more progress. Question, have you figured out how to run a reverse lockout? I have a similar t56 awd setup I’m working on and this is the last ‘custom’ hurdle I need to solve

Awesome idea! I'm also thinking of doing my 98 Outback, how are you dealing with engine crossmember cradle and rack and pinion?

Do you have any pictures or video of the transmission being done now?

The oil pan is from a Trailblazer SS, it has a front differential that fits in the pan. I installed a trailblazer ss AWD transfer case behind the t56 transmission. There is a front driveshaft like on a truck. I installed the engine in the car where the front diff lines up with the Subaru hubs so the front cv axles will be close to straight.

So then there must be a front diff at some point? This is interesting.

Trailblazer SS style I would assume, diff mounts to the side of the oil pan, one of the axles had an extra long stub that goes through the oil pan.

Maybe you mentioned this and I didnt catch it but what are you doing to match the front to rear diff ratio's looking to do a similar project for a hillclimb car but was trying to see about matching the trailblazer front diff to the subi rear

The rear diff is a ford 8.8 irs from an explorer. Both are 3.73.

@@PsuedoMechanic ahh just came across the videos of you fitting the 8.8 thanks!

I actually just made a video on my awd t56 setup. It's a little bit shorter than this one, check out, it's on my channel
