well. with the EPA making a big fuss about modified cars I decided to get a car that is pre-emission control that I can modify in any way I want. So the new car is a 1965 Plymouth Barracuda.

hey mate, currently in the process of doing a similar project. how did you make the inner door part, on the b pillar where the door meets it? im not sure if that makes sense but it looks hard to do. its seen at 4:11 in the slide show. Cheers
I like you are onust
You can firewalls like my wife cuts my hair Just messing with you Its hard to tell exactly how much you need to cut and you want to try n not cut too much cause you have to put it back and unfortunately you cant just watch your video to see how far to cut when you haven't made your video yet awesome build
Any updates!?
Any updates?
What axel differential set up are you going to use for the front
Any update?
Love this build. I'm trying to do the same thing but with a j35a inside of a cb7
love this project hope to see more
any updates?
Is that F-body bell housing the 98-02 one?
Yes
I'm doing a similar project on a Chevy Cobalt SS. I've got a Trailblazer SS pan, but the front diff mount location doesn't work out well with the front axle location. I had been planning to graft together two pans, to put it where I need it, but I recently saw how some awd Cadillacs do it, and now I'm thinking I might use a caddy front diff, and just find a front sump oil pan to make room. I've got a couple videos posted, I've got a trailblazer SS 5.3 dangling between the front fenders for mock up purposes, I'll be digging into the rest of the project soon.
Do you have any pictures or video of the transmission being done now?
Did you finish the project
Cool build, looking forward to more progress. Question, have you figured out how to run a reverse lockout? I have a similar t56 awd setup I’m working on and this is the last ‘custom’ hurdle I need to solve
Awesome video. Thank you. I want to do this to a different car
Civic RWD is my dream too... 😍😍😍
i use to use front left wing ( fender) reversed on back right quarter panel , etc very easy and fast then fill with foam
Why?
This is so insane.. I just stumbled across this project. Very very cool!!!
Such an incredible build series! Your work is unreal. I'm considering going a similar route with a 4 door Impreza sedan. Why didn't you cut out the jamb part of the C-Pillar? I know Subaru did not resulting in no weight saving between the sedan and coupe because the coupe was an afterthought. I don't plan on reinventing the wheel, just copying standard practice for coupe rear wheel well/window interface practice. They use the same stiff reinforced rocker from wheel to wheel but use the same gauge steel from the rear wheel well around the tire mounted to the outer skin. Coupes don't have that impact thick steel used in door openings because the sole attachment point is the latch and hinges. They also use something similar to C channel on the B-Pillar leaving the back side (rear seat armrest area) open with a c channel type crash bar running along the outer skin to tie it to the rear wheel well roof c channel skin support if that makes sense? There has to be close to 200 pounds of extra meat there between the B-Pillar designed to hold both doors and the C-Pillar to hold the rear door yeah? That's some serious thick steel. I'm going to run a cage anyway, so I'm gonna chuck it. What are your thoughts on that? Sacrilege I know but I think I'll cut a bunch of pieces off a VW Golf 3 door in the boneyard and tweak them to fit.
I wanted a hatchback. I would not do a sedan to coupe conversion because I can buy a coupe. This build is more of an art project, a “what if” build. It’s about making something that could have been. I had not planned on the v8. But after so many hours in the body mods I decided the car deserved more than an unreliable 500hp. 500hp from a Subaru engine is not like 500hp from a v8. The dyno numbers don’t tell the whole story. So, things escalated and it became a monster.
@@PsuedoMechanic Nice 👍🏼, huge torque diff resulting in far more overall (avg) power with the V8.
Are those rear quarters wide or just repaired ? Looks awesome btw keep posting gc8 stuff
The fenders are 2.5” wider than stock on each side
@@PsuedoMechanic do you sell them?
@@kevinlimon964 not yet. I’m not great at metal shaping yet. I need to get some more tools before I can make them for sale.
WOW skills, I'd love to do this to a Matra Bagheera
Ouch my firewall
WhAt ac compressor and alternator did you used
The ac compressor is from a 1999-2003 5.3 truck. The alternator and power steering pump are F body camaro pieces with a bracket from ict billet to accommodate truck spacing. The water pump is a 2015 camaro unit which has truck spacing. I used the camaro water pump because the truck water pump has the water neck in the wrong place for the lower intake manifold.
Cannot wait for an update on this, the other 3door wrx I follow is pretty much dead right now so this series is what's keeping me going
New video soon. I have new coilovers and a major upgrade for the front suspension. Thanks for watching.
Check out my Instagram for the other stuff I am doing, like classic car restorations. @pseudo_mechanic.
VK56 or 1UZ ? i think is cheaper and reliable
I think u can go for a camshaft that make u go close to 9K RPM (maybe 8.75k) And destroke too
I don’t think I need that much rpm. The limiting factor on the car will be the transmission. As good as the tremec boxes are, they were never intended to take 1000 hp.
this is the AWD one?
Yes. Chevy corvette t56 modified, trailblazer ss transfer case, oil pan and front differential
Is this a car video or an advertisement for a Sawzall
A bit of both.
Maybe you mentioned this and I didnt catch it but what are you doing to match the front to rear diff ratio's looking to do a similar project for a hillclimb car but was trying to see about matching the trailblazer front diff to the subi rear
The rear diff is a ford 8.8 irs from an explorer. Both are 3.73.
@@PsuedoMechanic ahh just came across the videos of you fitting the 8.8 thanks!
Awesome idea! I'm also thinking of doing my 98 Outback, how are you dealing with engine crossmember cradle and rack and pinion?
Watch all my videos, I explain every step Of the process.
Amazing job 😍
545 RFE that's a good trans - and a 392 hemi will smoke that ls motor...... just sayin . It's your car - so do what you want, but you may need to sell it one day - that's why you should try to put mopar stuff in it .
Thanks for watching. I think a 6.4 hemi is a very expensive way to make 400-450 wheel horsepower. And is a new hemi really mopar if fiat owns the company that builds it?
@@PsuedoMechanic Yes - a 392 is a good motor for mopar guys . Also I would make the rear quarter wheel openings bigger . At least as big as the front opening . That will give it a modern look . Have fun .
@@rdlaminations3339 I have to cut some rust out of one rear arch so I will make do both and make the new openings a bit bigger. I’m going to do some minor modernizing like ac vents in the dash, tucked bumpers and a bigger center console with parking brake. It will be all be fairly minor stuff but should make the car feel better but remain faithful to the original design.
Sheesh....could've at least used a 5.7L Hemi or something (and yeah I know you addressed that).
Is a 5.7 hemi better than an ls2?
@@PsuedoMechanic Better? Yes. Cheaper? No.
@@jonathanleifheit9237 how is is better? Not one mopar loyalist has yet been able to explain how it’s better in any scientific way.
@@PsuedoMechanic You talking crate motor? Pullout from a wreck and install? Or one you are going to build up from scratch?
@@jonathanleifheit9237 I am going to build an ls2 bottom end with ls3 top end. 11:1 compression. Stage 3 cam 230/240 .600 lift, flex fuel. Should make a solid 400-425 to the wheel with very mild timing. I have all the parts in the shop already so it’s just a matter of making time to put it together. But the big exciting thing about this build will be the modern sc300/400 suspension. I am betting that I can make it easily adaptable to any of the early a body cars, meaning bolt on with an adapter, so others will be able to change to all modern parts. The real benefit of the sc300 stuff is that it is the same as Supra stuff so any brake, suspension, sway bar, steering angle kit etc will fit. That makes for a lot more driving fun.
THATS A FRIGGIN GREAT IDEA!!!!
Here we go
What kind welder is that?
Here’s a link where you can buy it. amzn.to/3qEAbra
puttin in that work
Awesome build. That is gonna sound wicked. Looking forward to it!
Google images "subaru with huge turbo" there's bigger lol
Maybe 1 but it’s the 1jz Car.
@@PsuedoMechanic yeah I think they are only truly massive on engine swapped subarus
@@chefinavan1 I have a new project car I will be revealing next week. A real American muscle car for restoration and an engine swap. I have never had a muscle car so it should be interesting. Make sure to look for it.
