- Fitting the LS AWD in the 1998 impreza.
I use Benchmark Abrasives cutoff wheels, a Milwaukee angle grinder, an Eastwood 175 welder and Si Fang flap wheels.

I like how you start by neatly removing a tiny square of sheet metal and follow it up by removing half the floorplan.
Measure once cut 17 times lol
@@PsuedoMechanic How narrow is the front footwell with the engine mounted centrally? I can't imagine that offsetting the engine would be good for driveshaft life or torque steer.
@@jrshaul the footwell is about 18” wide. I will match the angle of the offset with the rear diff. With a 3” offset at the crank snout and a 92” wheelbase I calculate a 1.86 degree angle at the rear diff. So basically meaningless.
@@PsuedoMechanic Nice.
Out of curiosity, is it mechanically viable to move the engine forward? If memory serves, you're mostly okay as long as the shafts are parallel.
@@jrshaul the front cv axles have a maximum travel angle of about 40 degrees. If I place the engine further forward the angle of the front cvs will take up some of that 40 degrees and limit the maximum steering angle. I placed the engine where the front cvs and front diff are at nearly 0 degrees so I can maintain full wheel turning angle.
You can firewalls
like my wife cuts my hair
Just messing with you
Its hard to tell exactly how much you need to cut and you want to try n not cut too much cause you have to put it back and unfortunately you cant just watch your video to see how far to cut when you haven't made your video yet awesome build
What front differential are you going to use, is there room for driveshaft from transfer case to front diff. So many questions, 🤔 Love the build so far though.
Watch the videos. I explained all that in earlier videos
What axel differential set up are you going to use for the front
Looks like the back of the trans is too high. Shouldn't the motor/trans be angled down towards the back?
I didn’t know exactly what angle I needed so I built the cart with the crank center nearly horizontal. I need to make the rear diff mount for the ford 8.8 irs before I finalize the engine/ transmission angle so it is all aligned properly.
I don't think it really matters with a independent rear with a live axle it probably would
@@austindoud273 the driveshaft still has U joints and so it still has to have the pinion and transmission angles relatively close to straight.
Ouch my firewall
Will it be awd?
It is still all wheel drive. The trailblazer ss transfer case has a Torsen unit instead of a viscous coupler, so it can mechanically bias more torque forward or rearward as traction allows.
If you use the Colorado front diff with electric disconnect. Can it be driven with just power to the rear or will the tbss torsion not work like that.
I saw family man racing awd ls 3000gt had his setup that way but he had a 100 %locked xfercase I believe
