I was driving back from Yorkshire in my lorry, really depressed and wondered where my life was headed, I had 'Lizzy' on a cassette tape, and when "Cowboy Song" came on, it cheered me up no end, and things didn't seem so bad afterwards.
Saw them opening for Queen in Vancouver and I was absolutely blown away. I knew their music and liked the band, but up close they might have been the best hard rock guitar band I've ever seen.. and I've seen them all.
in 1983 while i was hangin out in germany, i went to this concert called monsters of rock at the zepplinfeld in nuremburg, 9 bands total, one of them was thin lizzy....was downfront at the stage the whole time, this was also the last time gary moore was with them on that tour. I still have the ticket stub from that gig
Was there also, actually got a photo of Phil on stage with my POS camera I had. It was one of the last time he would play close to his passing, He was good..
no doubt thin lizzy is one of if not the greatest rock band period!!!! rock and roll hall of fame or not we know better, and phil was the coolest person to ever walk the stage, he is a true hero, not only his music but he made the world a better place for us all black white red or yellow R.I.P. phil your a true hero, and a cowboy

Saw them on the Jailbreak tour in the UK! Absolutely brilliant - and that was the seventies when there were so many great bands and concerts! They always stuck in my mind as being up there with the best! So happy I was born when I was!
Pity he never got the recognition he really deserved: an incredible talent. Wrote some truly sublime songs. If you listen to their music from the start you understand what a diverse talent he was. Jailbreak -what an album!

Bands love playing there as it was built in Victorian times specifically for sound! So it has a quality hard to define but bands say its one of the best places to play because of the sound quality & how it reverberates like a Boomerang Seeing Thin Lizzy play there about 6 times all told & they were even better live than on a recording, just outa this world Phil will never die in the hearts & souls of musicians & fans everywhere... For years I only knew them for The Boys Are Back in Town - then I got the album Jailbreak and man, did that open my eyes! My last job involved a LOT of driving - I practically wore out their Greatest Hits CD in that time. This and Whiskey in the Jar are my two absolute favorites! It's my great loss to have missed out on this fantastic band for so many years.

You request a Thin Lizzy song on the radio (don't specify which) and I'd bet about 99 times out of 100 it would either be The Boys Are Back In Town or Jailbreak because none of their other songs get any play time. I would say in no particular order my favorite 3 Thin Lizzy songs are this one, Whisky in The Jar, and Boys Are Back In Town.

I saw him back in Dublin when he was about 15 years old. He was playing with a band called The Black Eagles. He was playing in a shed in front of about 30 people. He was great even then.
I found the Live And Dangerous cd just before Christmas last year and MAN does it ever ROCK/KICK ASS !! It is 1 of the most AWSOME cd's that I own/Know of. It also has interviews with Phil. Got to Love THIN LIZZY!!
The band had it's problems with drugs. Phil, Scott & Brian Robertson but it comes with the territory unfortunitly!!!! But Thin Lizzy will always have a place in HARD ROCK history!!!!! Peace & Love Phil, you'll always be missed!!!
