Kirk gets pigeonholed as the Metallica guy, but, simultaneously, if I bring up metal to a non metal person, they often talk about how much they like Kirk. Not Marty or Mustaine or [____], but Kirk. Guy plays music, not "mere" metal.
Considering the progression, from Green Manalishi to The Boys Are Back In Town to Fade To Black, it seems right, and just a touch, maybe, divinely ordained.

Growing up in the 70's I wasn't into rock music, but having said that I liked Thin Lizzy and always admired Phil Lynott.. Phil was a charming dude, you couldn't help but like him

Same. Rock music was not my thing, much preferred Glam Rock, Punk, New Wave, Indie, stuff but Thin Lizzy were THE exception. Zeppelin, Sabbath, Priest, Purple, Ac/Dc for me all fitted perfectly under the umbrella of old, dull, boring, stagnant and something I definitely don't want to be associated with.
Lizzy however, despite their musical genre, were somehow still cool and always will be!!

Yes Lizzy cool, hard rock but with melody and soul. I seen them in Liverpool 1974. They had not made it yet, I knew they would
