When Phil was asked how he felt about being Black and Irish he said "Like a pint of Guinness". My Man. God Rest your sweet soul Phil. Next time ☺ 💔💗❤
Wow!!...that may just be the best quote ive ever heard in my life😮😅🤘
I LOVE THAT!!! And I love Guinness!!!
Gary… so good
Awesome reply from an awesome guy.
Phil was a Black Irishman.what a fight to get to the stage! he's incredible, makes my Irish heart so proud!
My dad was 59 when he died, 59. I feel betrayed, I feel like I'm being stood up by god himself. Oh daddy, I'm crying writing this, knowing I'll never hear your voice again or see your cheeky smile. I love you so, so much and my heart has been torn apart. You sent me this beautiful piece of art just months ago and I didn't even bother to react to your mail. Well, here I am now. I love it, daddy. To all of you out there, don't take your parents for granted or anybody for that matter, today they might be fine but they could be gone in a day with no warning.
Hello Jolene, how are things going with you?
@@James-mn6jo she's dead too
“Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God and believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, I would have told you; for I go now to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, so that where I am you may be also. I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. And you know the way to where I am going. I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on you do know him and have seen him. Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you His Kingdom.”

To my old Marine Corps brother... Hey Lucky, I can't hear a Thin Lizzy song without remembering you and your Maverick. 50 years ago, seems like yesterday!
My dad just turned 50 when he died. He gave me the music he enjoyed. This is one of those songs. If I can share with others so they know what music is about, I think I did my dad right 😊
I’m 70 years young now.I’ll tell you what man these where the boys back in the day,I’m still fit .still rocking my bike.still blasting man.still strong .

Heard this on the radio at work and went straight to the record shop next door and bought it. 1972.
I wish I was born a lot earlier to have the privilege of going to a record shop to buy a vinyl…born 1979.. Christmas Eve I made the 70s by a week… and proud

Fifty years old and still sounds absolutely amazing. First class musicians. RIP Phil.
In 1972 the great band 'Tweed' played support to this up coming band in Dreamland in Athy Co. Kildare. Myself and and another Tweed fan sat behind their PA that night as they rocked Athy. Thin Lizzy forever...👏👏🎶🎶
Yes great musicians and Phil Lynott, how could you go wrong? Seriously I am more than old enough to remember when this song came out. Who knew that it would be the inspiration for a whole, great genre of music? You know Celtic Punk/Rock.
Me encanta esta cancion desde los sños 60s la he escuchado toda mi vida ❤
I’m 45, love Thin Lizzy and introduced it to my boys (9 & 6), Phil’s genius will live on.

I just had ear surgery and this was the first thing I wanted to listen to coming home... Life is good ;)

Love that raspy voice, when gary moore, gorman, etc played with Lizzy it was quite amazing
Just an amazingly beautiful song. That guitar intro is unbelievable and Phills voice is incredible as always.
Well said man. Totally agree
Phil Lynott, one of the greats, sadly missed. They don't make music like this anymore.

YES,FOR SHURE!!
Phil is definitely up in Heaven, because he rocked the Hell right out of himself. Tragic ending to a young life. Be wise kids, and just say no to drugs. No bullshit.
Was privileged to dance at Kellys, Porttush with Thin Lizzy on stage. Early 70's. At Coleraine High School, We Loved them. Best of the Best.
I first heard this in a boutique in Walsall in 1973 and asked the assistant who they were. She said Thin Lizzy... Loved them ever since.
Good thing she didn't say Metallica!
Metallica on 1973 i dont think so buddy
You were on Phil Lynott's home turf he was born just down the road in West Bromwich.
I’m a Walsall girl to and a big fan also
Phil lynott what a super musical powerhouse ! No one knows what he went through?…but we can all acknowledge this man was one of the greatest rock superstars ever to be .., irreplaceable along with his iconic beautiful music when the world was a much better place and he helped make it that better place ! 60, 70 80s, were magical times
I am right now years old finding out about this cover. Love Thin Lizzy, and I love “Whiskey in the Jar.” This rendition is 🔥🔥🔥!
I love it when theres whiskey in the jar if not better yet whisky is better i love scotch more but irish whiskey is still great
Brilliant song. Amazing how much the guitar work lifts this song.
I don’t care what anyone says… Phil Lynott was a fucking badass, with a hell of a voice. I’m still surprised that Thin Lizzy’s only hit in the United States was Boys are back in Town.
Seriously underappreciated band. Radio sucks. Internet radio didn't get any better.
Not entirely true! One of the first songs I remember hearing as a kid was Jailbreak. They played it regularly on The Loop in Chicago.
Great song.....great artist.....who died much to early.....but never the less stayed en took a very important place in our collective music memory....
the 60s and 70s were the best musical years to grow up in IMHO, I was 17/18 when this hit
By far the best version of the 'whisky in the jar' I've heard - Thin Lizzy
I've heard no less than
50 versions of this song and that one metal band is the only group to disrespect it by playing someone's else's version and making the stupidest video in the world to go along with it. Enough about those sellouts... This has the raddest guitar solo.
@@joeschmoe511 If You mean Metallica....You're right
Yeah if they had played it in full without the edit on the solo.
Your right, far better than Metallicas version
👍👍👍❤️
Nice memories of being on holiday in the seventies, brilliant

Thank you for this compliment. I agree.
"Whiskey in The Jar" is an old Irish traditional folk song . Even Peter, Paul, And Mary recorded a version of it. .
So, it is fitting that the Irish band, Thin Lizzy also recorded it
Yep
Jerry Garcia of the Grateful Dead also recorded and performed it. His background was folk and bluegrass. It's a wonderful version.
I knew him since early 70s. Never noticed he was anything but an Irishman. We'll miss you 4vr!
I heard this song days ago in the radio. Awesome song..
Unique track Thin Lizzy...
50 years later and this song is still so incredible and it's importance on Rock can not be disputed. Bands like this have influenced sooooooo many modern musicians.

Awww, Phil looks so young & innocent, fresh & not the pained ravaged poor soul he became 😢
I wish i could stop this video
Climb through the screen & tell Phil to pull back the reigns of his life then & not escalate his drug taking..
Telling him how good Thin Lizzy would become, how much people loved him, esp his Mum, friends
Lovers & his many fans....
He had to curb his drink & drug intake or he'd die young, his daughter left fatherless
His mother childless
His fans left devastated..
If only i could....😭

With profound depth & soul
