For people who know - they know. But this is one of the more underrated bands in music history. Truly amazing front man and lineup. Superb lyricist and songwriter. Just some of the best R&R to come out of the seventies. RIP Phil and Gary.
Oh f**k , stop it with the underrated. How were they underrated? This is a clip of them playing in Australia on the other side of the world, they were world famous throughout the 70s and early 80s with countless hit singles and albums. Underrated my arse.
@@jasont7814 it’s not anger, just extreme disappointment with the underrated shout, it pops up on just about every world famous artist or song on UA-cam.
Wow. An absolute jaw dropping gem of a performance. The band was truly on fire that evening. They sound so tight, rock and groove so hard, and yet it all sounds effortlessly smooth. Love THIS!
He died too soon. I just read a story where he got turned down to perform on Life Aid cause they felt he was too F'd up. II he was givven a chance, He could have given an performance as close to what Queen did on tht day.
Phil never gets credit for having one of the better voices in rock. Wasnt a screamer, but his tone was pleasant to listen to. RIP Gary. Hey Scott, stick around for a long while. You are a very humble man.
Phil was a totally charismatic frontman, tough & tender enough in equal measure to appeal to both sexes. His voice effortlessly exuded soul & machismo, so no screaming was necessary (NB Axl Rose, Dave Grohl & assorted throatshredders)
I was 19 .When I Saw this great band perform. At the opera house. What great talents Garry Moore and Phil Lynott were. Its a pity they are Gone.I am 64 and still listen to there music. And practice there music as a drummer.Live and Dangerous .Was one there best albums.
These guys could out rock most bands around at the time, frighteningly good, their music is still superb, hence why so many Hollywood films still use it
This video is exactly how they should be remembered. Phil's passing was tragic and hard to imagine and didn't represent his real character. This DOES! So let's all picture this when we hear the words Thin Lizzy.
What's so tragic? He was a junkie and he shot lots of heroin. It's expected that someone's gonna die doing this kind of intravenous drug use. Tragic would have been if he was clean living and some alley thug stabbed him to death with a knife.
@@Martin-iv6lqDamn man....his absentee mother Philomena Lynott, was total garbage for ditching her kids. Sadly, Men fall short as Fathers often. But a woman. Damn that's just absolutely shameful & unnatural 😢

I’ll bet you didn’t know that she had to give up two more kids for adoption and had a ridiculously hard life as a young single woman. I was at this gig they only did a few songs was a day and night show heaps of muso,s the angels played later and a dickhead in th crowd threw something and hit doc in the head, was new years eve😎
Proving yet again, that timeless music is exactly that. They were an underrated band, at a time when classy rock n roll music was only beginning to gain exposure through programs such as Countdown. A great live band, proven by this video.
Killer hooks, grooves and double lead guitars to boot. I often wonder what Phil and Scott could've accomplished had they not fallen under the black cloud of addiction.
Just look at these guys work! Thats f'n hard. That's tight as hell! They are completely giving the fans everything they have. Emptying the tank's, and loving every second of it!❤️
This was the greatest lineup of Thin Lizzy! Scott Gorham, Gary Moore, Brian Downey, and Phil Lynott! R.I.P. Phil and Gary. Gone but never ever forgotten!
Best line up was Phil, Brian Downey, Scott Gorham and Brian Robertson. Their 4 best albums came from this line up. Gary was their best guitarist but could not recreate the melodies that Robertson and Gorham created - this combo even Gary said was the best version of Lizzy.
@monte5293 Agreed! Great albums, true. But you have to admit that "Black Rose: A Rock Legend " was the peak of creativity for the Gary Moore lineup. That was the last great Thin Lizzy album!
Agreed. It was their last great album but Fighting, Jailbreak,, Johnny the Fox and Bad Reputation where on another level lyrically and from a melodic guitar sound standpoint. Gary at this Sydney concert was superb though , even though he hated sharing guitar solos according to Scott!

That was a rare and historic even, you're so lucky to have witnessed it. It seems the Wild Horses guys loved having guest jams, I like the story of Michael Schenker jamming a gig with them in the '78-79 era when he was in town.

the sound of that guitar
